Except Dennis Idahosa withdraws the court case because if that case is allowed to proceed, he might end up getting victory. Reason being that APC declared the election inconclusive and not cancelled. What it means it that a supplimentary election is supposed to be conducted in those contentious wards. Dennis Idahosa having secured 40k plus ghost votes and declared winner by Uzodinnma, Monday Okpebholo is suppose to have scored like 50k plus voted to be declared winner. But he got 12k votes.

This APC situation is really dicey. But with Nigeria Judiciary anything is possible. If they can declared Ahmed Lawal and Akpabio as the valid in an election they never patook in what else do you expect.

Though my write up is a bit lengthy but it will give you a clear understanding of the problem.

Shaibu is an ingrate and a very greedy politician. He has been in government since 1999 having served as member of Edo state house of Assembly, to Member House of Reps then Deputy Governor for almost 8 years.

Yes during the fight between Obaseki and Oshiomhole, Shaibu stood by Obaseki as against Oshiomhole his own brother because he also needed to protect his own position as Deputy Governor.
This gesture was reciprocated by Obaseki when he insisted that Shaibu must remain his Deputy though PDP wanted one of their members to be his deputy but Obaseki insisted it must be Shaibu or nothing.

After the Election, Obaseki gave Shaibu a lot of powers ranging from making him head of revenue of the state to making him the leader of Edo north such that all appointments that are to go to Edo North must come through Shaibu.
Obaseki saw Shaibu as a member of his team and not just an ordinary deputy governor. That is why he always refered to him as his brother.

Then as the election for 2024 was fast approaching, Shaibu told Obaseki that he would like to be the governor. Obaseki told him to wait that it was not time to start discussing who will take over from him as he was focused on ending his tenor well by completing all ongoing projects.

That was where the problem started. Shaibu started scheming on how to bring down Obasekis government. He was always seen fraternizing with APC members and also negotiating decamping to APC to actualize his dream of becoming the governor. This move was rejected by Oshiomhole. That was why Oshiomhole openly admonished him to go back and settle with his Boss as APC is not a party for Internally Displaced Politicians.

Shaibu started absenting himself from state functions such that on the day Obaseki was swearing in Commissioners in the state, , Shaibu was seen in Abuja partying during the inauguration of members on the national assembly.

Out of nowhere, Shaibu took Obaseki to court on allegations that Obaseki was plotting to impeach him. That was the final straw that broke the carmel's back.

After sueing Obaseki, he took his annual leave and travelled to USA to attend Afemai Conference without the knowledge of Obaseki only for him to appear in Church during Alaghodaro thanksgiving and was heading straight to greet Obaseki. That was when the DSS guy stopped him. You can't shake hands with a man you have taken to court. It is never done.

Now back to the 2024 governorship election.
It is an unwritten agreement in Edo state that for the sake of equity, fairness and justice power should rotate among the three senatorial districts. Edo South, Edo North and Edo Central. Oshiomhole from Edo North ruled for 8 years, Obaseki from Edo South is about completing his 8 years so it is natural for the next Governor to come from Edo Central. Obaseki in his wisdom decided to support one of the brightest stars from Edo Central. DR Asue Ighodalo. A former Chairman of Nigeria Brewery, A former Chairman of Sterling Bank, Member of so many boards in Nigeria, a co founder of Banwo and Ighodalo law firm which is one of the biggest law firms in Nigeria with over 100 lawyers, a man who has been head of the state Economic advisory team since the time of Oshiomhole till date.

So Obaseki's only offence is his insistence that power should go to Edo Central. Since then, Shaibu has been going from one media house to another granting interviews and casting aspersions on the personality of Obaseki.

For a man who is so desperate to be governor, a state delegate congress was held but Shaibu and other candidates openly boycotted it. On the day of PDP primary election, while the election was going on at Ogbe stadium which was broadcast live, Shaibu organized a parallel election in his house where he was declared winner.

Of a truth, no state governor can tolerate one quarter of what Obaseki took from Shaibu.
People think Shaibu is a very powerful politician because Obaseki has refused to curtail his excesses since.
Even if power is to go back to Edo North, it can not go to Shaibu because himself and Oshiomhole are from the same ward and local government. In fact Shaibu's father adopted Oshiomhole when Oshiomholes father died. So they are more of brothers.
Shaibu has just succeeded in killing his own political career. Those cheering him on are just interested in eating his money.

Even with this high rate of poverty in the land people are still looting. And they will go to the church and give testimony for winning a multi million naira contract. Then pay cooperate tithe from the proceeds of the over inflated contract.

Just this evening as I was sitting and running my head on the state of the nation. The thought of private school teachers came up and I began to wonder how they are surviving considering the fact that most proprietors don't pay their salaries regularly.
