Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyson Wike today moved a large delegation of People's Democratic Party members to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa.

The team which was led by Wike and former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili spent several hours at the villa meeting with President Jonathan and the Vice President Namadi Sambo.

Mr. Wike reportedly got the approval of the President to bring his group to Abuja after they were shunned last weekend at the Port HarCourt International Airport in favor of the state Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The meeting today effectively give official recognition to anti-Amaechi faction of the PDP in Rivers State and political observers also say Mr. Wike, who is angling to become the next governor of Rivers State wanted to use the visit tto Abuja to make a big statement that Mr.. Jonathan is behind his bid.

The team apologized to President Jonathan regarding Mr. Amaechi's opposition to his presidency, saying that the governor had already joined the yet to be registered All progressive Congress (APC).

PoliticsRe: IGBOS: Would You Vote Governor Rochas Owelle Okorocha As President? by Chino48:
payless: You care so much about what tribe is in this position or that position. I don't care what tribe someone is as long as the person is doing what he or she suppose to be doing. Mind you, Yoruba was in power for eight years. Dimeji Bankole was Speaker of the House. The best performing Governor in the nation is Yoruba. You can say whatever you want to say about Lagos but the facts speak for itself. Lagos is the only state in Nigeria that can stand on its own. Lagos can compete with so many countries in Africa and beyond.

As per Igbos being industrious and everywhere in the world, just keep decieving yourself. We all know why you cannot stay in the east. Can you tell me why despite the fact that Igbos are being killed everyday in the North you still stay there? The only Igbo men left in the east are the ones who traveled to the North and Southwest that could not make it there but ended up coming back home empty handed. They are the ones always marching on the roads dancing azonto during rallies for creation of Biafra. Some of them end up going into drug peddling and fraud because there is no other option.

I will advise you to travel to Kano, Lagos, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Kaduna, Jos and Lokoja to see thousands of your brothers living shops.
All these because we don't want your terrorist infested party? You can take roches with you afterwards his pathernity was traced to Taraba state. This must have given you a sleepless nite. Go to the north, yeroba people are equally killed but you people chose to be smiling and suffering.

Igbos are by nature enterprising, they are not all around the world watching street lights like Yorubas does. They are more like Jews. They can turn stone into water anywhere they go. They see opportunities where Yorubas see impossibility. Probably you have not been to SE for you to know that apart from lagos (which is not core yorubaland) there is no other Yoruba state that is as populated as SE states.

In education, JAMB and Common Entrance exams into UNITY SCHOOLS has proved that Igbos are ahead of you guys even with being in power. We dont actually need the presidency by all means so far as we are getting all that we want. I was shocked that one could still find mud houses in the 21st century all over Abeokuta, Akure, Ibadan, as for Oshogbo and Ado ekiti those places cannot even compete with the remotest village in the SE. You guys do not need presidency to actually develop both in mind and in physical. Go figure it out.

Hausa fulani bokoharam killed Abiola and his wife, what did you guys do- your leader went to meet Abacha and collected "brown envelops" and came back to spew trash. Go and read more about how awolowo was frustrated and was forced to take his own life by the north.

Like as I told is there is nowhere you will find igbo population in the yorubaland except lagos which is former fct and not a core yorubaland and was developed by other regions.

Igbo has benefited more in GEJ led admin. And we will continue to support him till 2019 and beyond if necessary. Yorubas has since been sidelined, they are nowhere to be found in the corridors of power and so shall it be. Imagine a yorobaman liking an igboman more than himself that they now want align with us now we are in the power equation.

payless: The've done so well to the extent that 80% of your young men live in the North and South-west. I can't believe you settle for Chief of Army Staff.
Keep deceiving yourself. If you have ever been to the east you will question our population. Becos places as Onitsha has more population than some states in SW. Apart from lagos which was former fct and ofcos by many factor not a core yorubaland, in that it was developed by FG and outsiders. Tell me any other Yoruba town that has igbo population. The fact is that you people do not travel. Igbos are everywhere in the world becos of their enterprise nature.
Yes we are ok with chief of staff and SGF and lots of federal presense. Afterwards your tribe is nowhere to be found among the ten top offices in nigeria presently ocupied by SS/SE and North.

payless: You can vote against one of your own if given the opportunity. Rochas is the closest Igbo that is likely to become President in recent time. If you think PDP will ever nominate an Igbo Presidential candidate with their power shift between South and North, then you are mistaking.

That is the wild dream I talk about..keep it up.

We do not need the president by all means. So we are okay with GEJ continuity so far as he delivery to SE on his promises. SW and North being in power does not remove them from most poverty scotching list. The East without power has done so well without having to taste power in 1966.

Like as I said earlier the power equation has changed forever with the emergence of GEJ. Watch out Nigeria in 2015 and 2019 you will understand what am telling you today.

With these projects: 2nd Niger Bridge Onitsha, Enugu Airport, Onitsha Port, Onitsha-Awka-Enugu expressway, Enugu-Okigwe-PH road..

GEJ will surely win SE 100% in 2015 with or without any Igbo man running for the same office.

Every northerner is a cow. Imagine people their house is on fire, all that bothers them now is how to clinch to power in 2015. This people are capable sacrificing their own population as suicide bombers, as terrorists for anything whatsoever so far as it concerns return to Aso Rock.

I weep for the north, they are the only reason Nigeria has not progressed since they took over in 1979. Till day they are still hungry for power even though they have remained the poorest in Africa despite holding onto power for 40 years.

Vows to drag FG to ICJ over Baga massacre

By Michael Olugbode

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Tuesday said the North had decided not to play second fiddle in 2015 as the position of the president rightly belong to the region and the mistake of 2011 where the politicians were allowed to trade away the right of the zone would not be tolerated.

The elders also said the North should be counted out of any arrangement that wouldn’t delivery the presidential ticket to the region, insisting that they will not accept anything short of the position of president.

This is coming even as the region threatens to drag the federal government before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Baga the incident where 185 persons were reported killed during the confrontation between soldiers and the Boko Haram sect.

At a separate meeting between Borno State Elders Forum and the state Governor, Kashim Shettima, the NEF revealed that a team of Lawyers had been put in place to visit Baga town and come up with findings that would determine its decision, saying if any organ of government is found guilty, it will be dragged before the ICJ.

The forum said it was so much interested in the Baga massacre and anyone who found to have given the order which led to the killings would be take to the ICJ for genocide.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, Alhaji Ango Abdullahi who stood in for the Chairman of NEF, Alhaji Maitama Sule, said the killing of innocent civilians in Baga town was unacceptable pointing out that the necessary findings must be made to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Abdullahi, a former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the forum had already commenced mobilisation of all northerners to have a consensus candidate who would protect and project the interest of the North ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

"The NEF has no political party and no candidate, our party is the people of the North, so join us in this fight to take back power in 2015.

“We are not happy that the North is not playing active role in the present day. That is why we decided to bring together our surviving elders. We resolved that something must be done, that the North ought to do more than it is currently doing in the affairs of the country. You know the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) is a socio-cultural group but in the current situation in this country, we need more than a socio-cultural group to address our challenges and that is why we came with the formation of the NEF. Our group believes that any discussion that will not bring back power to the North in 2015 is not in the interest of the north and its people," Abdullahi said.

He accused the northern governors and others political bigwigs from the region for voting massively for President Goodluck Jonathan, describing their actions as a "stupid mistake which should not be allowed to repeat itself in 2015.

"We now know where the lapses are and we are going to tackle the governors of the northern states. We have the population and all it takes to produce the next president of this country.”

He noted that the North was responsible for its present political and economic woes and that if urgent steps were not taking by all stakeholders from the region "to take over power in 2015, the north may never have the opportunity to be in power in Nigeria again.

"This crises is the fault of the northerners, with due respect, we derelict in so many ways, we allowed Obasanjo to come into power and he dealt with us severely, but we can still change things in 2015. It is better late than never. The North must rediscover itself as soon as possible.”

He said the North had the population to continuously dominate the politics of the country by producing the president and said it was unfortunate that the region can be push aside.

Abdullahi said should the North decide to be independent country with a population of 90 million, it will still be the largest country on Africa.

He equally said it was arrogant for a section of the country to refer to the North as beggars and not contributing any resources to the commonwealth of the nation, arguing that at a point in the past, it was the resources from the North that was spent on the eastern and western regions, and was used in exploring the nation's oil.

Meanwhile a member of the Borno Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Bulama Mali Gubio, had accused the North at the peak of the Boko Haram crisis for abandoning Borno State to its fate, saying it is unfair for NEF to come out now and start preaching the unity of the northern region after so many lives have been lost.

"At some point, I do not consider myself a northerner or even a Nigerian because of how we were so abandoned to our fate," he said.

Shettima had promised to work closely with the forum to further project the interest of the region pointing out that "the North has no business begging any one for power and even if the North which has 90 million population, it will still remain the largest in Africa."

He said with the North having two-third of the nation land resources, it should be at the fore front of everything “for land is wealth and the most valuable of all resources.”

PoliticsCatholic Church Bombing: I Know The Perpetrators – Kabiru Sokoto by Chino48(op): 7:51pm On May 11, 2013
The Nigerian Police Force, yesterday, told the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court that the apprehended kingpin of the Boko Haram Sect, Kabiru Umar, a.k.a Kabiru Sokoto, had volunteered names of the sect members that bombed St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Madalla, Niger State, in 2011.

The attack had resulted to the death of 44 persons and wounded 75 others while Christmas day church service was in progress.
Kabiru Abubakar Dikko, alias Kabiru Sokoto

Kabiru Abubakar Dikko, alias Kabiru Sokoto

However, a lead Police investigator who gave his name as “Mr. ABC”, in his testimony before the court yesterday, stressed that Sokoto, who is facing a 2-count terrorism charge, confessed that though he got prior information that the attack would take place, he was not part of the terror squad that eventually struck the church. Neverthless, the witness declined to mention the names of the said culprits in the open court.

Meantime, trial Justice Ademola Adeniyi, yesterday, admitted into evidence, a 3-paged statement where the accused person revealed the modus-operandi of the Boko Haram sect and their major source of funding.

According to the masked witness who told the court that he personally took the statement of the accused person shortly after he was caught at the Borno State Government Lodge in Abuja on January 14, 2012, “Sokoto confessed that the sect believes that it is lawful to rob Christians and disposess them of their belongings.”

The witness stressed that the accused person, who he said in the hierarchy of the sect, was the “Governor of Sokoto State”, made his confession in front of a former Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Mr Zakari Biu, who was dismissed from the police for allegedly assisting the accused to escape from custody.

Sokoto had on January 16, 2012, vanished from Police custody on a day a team of investigators went to search his residence at Abaji, a suburb in Abuja, but subsequently re-arrested on February 10 by underground operatives of the State Security Service at Taraba State.

His mysterious escape also culminated to the sack of the erstwhile Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim.

The witness further told the court that after some members of the sect loyal to Kabiru Sokoto, attacked and killed three police men in Kano, “We were able to arrest some of them including one M. Aliyu, the owner of the house they camped in and recovered eight AK-47 Riffles and IEDs.

“Subsequently, we got information that some of the sect members that attacked us had escaped to Sokoto State in three Golf cars, immediately, we left Kano for Sokoto on December 19, 2012. On getting there, we identified the house they hid in at Mambilla Housing estate in Sokoto State. The team went in and attempted to arrest the occupants of that house, a move that resulted in a one-hour gun battle that led to death of one of their members.

“We caught the owner of the house and his wife and in the course of interrogation, the suspect said he was planted in the house alongside seven others by Kabiru who he said gave them one AK-47, one Police Riffle and 2000 rounds of live ammunition which they use for terrorist activities.

He told the court that though the accused person was inducted into the Boko Haram movement by one Hameal Abdulrazak, he was latter relocated to Mutum-Biu in Taraba State but ran away from there during the 2009 crisis in Maiduguri that led to the death of the sect leader, Mohammed Yusuf.

“He told us that because Police was looking for them, he left Mutum-Biu and relocated to Abaji.”

Meantime, a previous witness identified as “Mr XYZ” had on Thursday, told the court how the accused person disclosed that the sect receives sponsorship from another terrorist organization, Muslim-Yama, based in Algeria.

He further revealed that it was in the process of sharing funds sent by their foreign counterparts that the sect became factionalized.

“He told us that there is a group in Algeria, Muslim-yama, which he said meant ‘the group from the sunset’, that sends money to them and also told us how they spend the money. I am not sure of the exact amount he said they collected as at the time he was caught, but he told us how the money is making the Boko Haram sect to split into two because of the way it was shared,” he stated.
