Leave God A Message At His Dutch Answering Service

AMSTERDAM (Reuters Life!) – God is taking calls.

Dutch artist Johan van der Dong has set up a local telephone number in the Netherlands, where he urges people to leave messages for God on his answering machine.

Van der Dong said he set up the number to give people an opportunity to take pause and contemplate life.

"Like praying, leaving a voicemail message is a way to organize your thoughts," he said. "It's a perfect combination for some contemplation."

Callers dialing 06-4424-4901 (or +316-4424-4901 if calling from outside the Netherlands) from March 7 will hear.

Crime / Man Rapes Brother’s Eight-year-old Daughter Inside Office by chioma24: 8:58am On Feb 28, 2009
The police at the Area ‘F’ Command have arrested a dispatch rider identified as Elendu Stanley Ikechukwu, for allegedly raping his brother’s eight-year-old daughter.

Elendu, a staff of Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), whose office is located at 45, Opebi Road, Ikeja, was alleged to have raped the victim (names withheld), in his office.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the suspect, who is married, brought the victim from their village and were all living in GRA, Ikeja, before relocating to an undisclosed place.

It was learnt that Elendu, in order to have free sex with the little girl, told his wife that he would change the girl’s school to one very close to his work place so that he could bring her home after closing hours, while the wife was said to have consented to the idea.

On the morning he brought the girl to his office to change her school, it was learnt, he discovered that the only staff in the office had left for breakfast and reportedly took the girl to the accounts office, removed her pant and had sex with her.

He was, however, unlucky as another member of staff came in and caught him on top of the girl. The staff member immediately invited the police from Area ‘F’, who arrested him and took him to the station. When P.M.NEWS visited the NIOB office, both president and secretary were said to be out of the office, but a staff confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect was later brought to the office by the police, where the girl’s pant was picked up and taken to the station.

When P.M.NEWS visited the station, the DPO was also not around to confirm the story, but a police source confirmed the incident, but was not sure when he will be charged to court.

Family / My Dad Is The Father Of My Son’—16-year-old Girl by chioma24: 3:54pm On Feb 26, 2009
A 16-year-old girl, Miss Benita Arit Etim Edem, has made a shocking confession, alleging she was impregnated by her 70-year-old father, Etim Edem Edet.

Miss Arit, who has abandoned her father’s residence at Ikot Ishie community, and is currently residing with her maternal uncle at Big Qua Town in Calabar, Cross River state, has vowed not to call Edet “my father any longer”, saying “the punishment and the disgrace he has put me through is too much.”

But, the septuagenarian, who feigned innocence, described the girl, at press time, as a liar, saying it was an abomination in Efik nation for a father to have sex with his own daughter. Speaking to her kinsmen and other residents of the Big Qua community, Arit said the sordid relationship between her and Mr. Edet, started after the death of her mother about four years ago, as the man allegedly pampered her with gifts and always wanted her to sleep with him in the same bedroom.r words: “I was just 12 years old, when he started sleeping with me. In fact I did not know what was going onause I was still too young.”
The girl, who claimed she was deflowered by her father, lamented that “It is a sad story to tell people that somebody who married my mother and gave birth to me, has turned out to be the direct father of my own child”. Weeping uncontrollably, she pointed her finger towards the direction of her four-year-old son, Master Eyo, saying, “Look at what he has done to me. That child is my father’s child; he was the one that impregnated me”. For about two years after the death of her mother, Arit said, her father allegedly made her a sex object, scaring away any boy that attempted to approach her for love.
Throughout the period, she said her father always admired her, especially each time she returned from the bathroom, with a towel tied around her chest.

Apparently unable to control his libido, she said, the man always resorted to touching her buttocks, breasts and rubbing her back, saying “I am a beautiful girl”.

According to Arit, the father started the abominable act again when Master Eyo, who was born through the incestuous relationship between the father and daughter, was about two years old, the 70-year-old man allegedly resumed his amorous advances, saying it was time to wean the little boy so that we can start. As I stopped breast feeding my child, he started, but I could not continue with the nonsense he was doing with me.”

From that day, she said she took the decision to stop her father from having carnal knowledge of her,

‘I have not known peace in my father’s house, as he has been fighting me, telling me to leave his house”. According to her, “there was a day he even called me and gave me N20,000 to take to my boyfriend, so that we can continue, but I refused”.

When confronted with the allegation, Edet refuted it, describing the girl as a thief. He alleged that the girl rather stole his N20,000, which he made futile effort to recoup. Arit, who reportedly ended her educational career in junior secondary school, said her father has offered to send her back to school and provide all her needs, if only she will return to the house and live with him as his wife

Convinced that little Eyo was the product of the old man, Arit said she was prepared to take the child and Mr. Edet for a DNA test and other medical examination to prove the paternity of the boy. She claimed Eyo was a clone of his father. She said both of them have a depression on the head, round cheeks, light complexion, and an identical facial appearance. Arit said her decision not to return to her father’s house has been widely supported by residents of the Ikot Ishie community, including Mr. Edet’s tenants, who felt it was necessary to put an end to the relationship.
Foreign Affairs / Michael Jackson's Brother Plans Slavery Theme Park In Nigeria by chioma24: 5:15am On Feb 24, 2009
Marlon Jackson is involved in a controversial development to turn a former slave port into a luxury resort that will house a Jackson Five museum, five-star hotel and slavery memorial,

A museum for the Jackson Five is to be built in Nigeria, American developers have announced, as part of a $3.4bn (£2.4bn) luxury resort including concert halls, golf courses, casinos – and a memorial for Africa's former slave trade.

The Badagry Historical Resort, located near Badagry's former slave port, will include a multimillion pound memorial, slave history theme park, five-star hotel and Jackson Five museum. The project is supported in part by Marlon Jackson, one of Michael Jackson's brothers.

"The Jackson family had been looking for a place to site their memorabilia collection," explained Gary Loster, chief executive of the Motherland Group, to the BBC. "We visited the site of the slave port in Badagry and Marlon turned to me and said: 'Let's put it here, this is right.'"

The development will cater to the country's growing tourism industry, particularly African-American tourists who wish to trace their Nigerian roots. Visitors will be able to explore the site of the former transatlantic slave trade, honour the hundreds of thousands who died in what were horrific human rights abuses, and then head off for a round of golf or a massage, before gawping at animatronic versions of the siblings who sang ABC and I Want You Back.

By promising to attract 1.4 million visitors in the first year, the Motherland Group has pledged to "enhance the quality of life for millions of people across Nigeria", according to promotional materials. They hope to create more than 150,000 jobs by the end of their fifth year.

"It's such an emotional place, and I think we all felt that it was the right place to have the Jackson family memorial," Loster said.

The developers' plans, which include a lifesize replica of a slave ship, holograms of the Jackson Five and robot versions of 18th-century African musicians, are not without their opponents.

"It is not appropriate from a cultural or historical point of view," Nigerian historian Toyin Falola told the BBC. "Moneymaking and historical memory are allies in the extension of capitalism. You cry with one eye and wipe it off with a cold beer, leaving the other eye open for gambling."

But Loster, Jackson and the other developers have dismissed these criticisms. "We know the problems facing us," Loster said. "We have visited Nigeria several times."

I think the shame part is because she is a single mom who lives with her mother. She already has six kids, what did she need fertility treatments for. Also there are some ethical questions as to why the doctor implanted eight embryos into a woman who had no fertility problems,
She has no job, lives with her parents, single, filed bankruptcy 2 1/2 years ago and already has 6 children. Now she has 14 children.
i know children are a blessing, whether you have 1 or if you have 20. If they're financially stable & if they're able to give those children the love they need then I don't have a problem with it.anyway I'm Pity for The Kids

A woman has six kids, unmarried, lives with her parents, no job?
says, hey I think I will do fertility treatments to have some more kids. Who paid for the fertility, is the doctor who did this nuts? Who is paying the hospital bill on these new children? Is no one else outraged at this?
