If you thought I was ever going to miss My baby's birthday just because Cynthia dropped her bad ass in my room that fateful day, well, you would have thought right and if you thought I wasn't going to miss Naza's birthday for anything in the world, errrm, you should be right also. Of the above two school of thoughts, the later was more applicable, I so much wanted to stay back and sample what Cynthia had brought for me, that was me, if it's cute and shapy and wears a skirt, I'm in. But then, Shape wasn't ready for that and besides, she had to protect the interest of her dearly beloved friend. "Cynthia," I had sang out the very moment she walked into my room, all thick with her endowments. She would have been very muscular if she was a man. She gave me that look that would knock any man out and make any flaccid dick do a dab. As I sat there, the Cynthia I saw was far from the devil I had always tagged her to be, you couldn't find any better definition for a perfect angel, only that she wasn't fair or had wings. "Baby," she muttered, walking up to me on the bed and drawing me into her thick, sweet, seductive perfume. She sat besides me, her boobs all over me like the anointing was on the disciples on the day of Pentecost. "You never told me your were coming." I managed to say amidst the whole excitement. "You would have told me not to come." she replied, dropping her head on my shoulder. "I missed you," she whispered and dropped her hand on my bare laps, just below my boxers. "You missed me abi you missed the banging." She laughed and withdrew her hand. "I missed everything." she replied. I turned to face her and God was I tempted. I imagined the about 30 minutes fun that would happen if I was to get down with this fine lady and compared it with the days of unlimited tongue lashing that would happen if I happened to miss Chinaza's birthday. My mind told me it wasn't worth it but the flesh was weak all through. My body was going to be disappointed in me if I missed this opportunity of sampling this girl again after a very long time. "So what did you bring for me?", I asked, trying to cover up all the dirty thoughts going on in my mind. "See me here, am I not enough?" she asked, giving me a suggestive smile. "You what? You want to come and forget something again abi?" I asked and she burst into laughter. "How is your baby? Are you still together?" she asked maybe expecting a no. She was disappointed shaa but that didn't stop her from stealing a kiss. A kiss I willingly allowed her to steal. We adjusted ourselves on the bed for a little romance, as e dy hot. My lips found its way to hers and we kissed explosively, kissing each other out of breath, my hands were already on their ways to her zipper, yapping at her bra strap at the same time, the bra snapped first and the load of her massive jugs fell on her clothes. I moved my lips down to her nape and my left hand involuntarily found its way to her mass of fleshy breasts. It had been a long time since I last got some action and my body reflected it so much. One thing to the other and we were both on the bed, a few inches to being fully unclad. My fingers were already penetrating her wet coochie while my fully erect peni were protesting to take their rightful place, she moaned softly to my touches and held my near exploding dick with her hands, trying to dislodge it. I tugged and pulled at her panties and she held my hands to my surprise. I gave her a look that portrayed all the vexation I was going to heap on her if she dared stopped what she had started. She merely smiled and nodded towards the door. "Lock your door please," she said and I jerked up from her, shooting my gaze towards the open door. "Ok, the door," I replied and got up from the bed, adjusting my boxers and heading towards the door, I waved the curtains aside and Shape was there, staring at my awkwardly elongated boxers. "Shape!" I snapped, staring at her. "Chinecherem!" she called back, her eyes still fixed on my erected dick. "Must you come now?" I asked with frustration all over my voice, disregarding her attention towards the lower part of my body, after all she was a virgin, what does she know about it all. "How do you mean?" she asked with a wicked grin on her face. "I have a guest baby, could you wait a little while before coming back?" I pleaded. "It depends," she replied. "On what?" "Whether your visitor is male or female." "Male ko? Male and my something is rising like this, do I look "Gayish" to you?" "So it's a female then?" she asked trying not to break into a laughter. "Yes naa, and I need to sort out something with her before everything goes cold." I was really trying hard not to yell. "I'm not coming back anything, I am going in there with you now." "Shape please, you know we love each other." She nodded and smiled. "That's why I am trying to protect you dear." "Protect me? You are frustrating me joor." I said getting really annoyed that I was losing my attention. We dragged on, back and forth and in the end, shape found her way into my room, spoiling my fun. By the time we both got back in, Cynthia was already dressed and that added to all my anger. " Oya go and bath dear, you don't want to be late for Naza's birthday, trust me," she said with a tone of feminine domination. I eyed her and hissed. Soon she was already conversing with Cynthia while I grudgingly made my way to the bathroom, I was visibly annoyed at everything, the shower, the water, the soap, the sponge, even my own dick was annoyed at me. "Shape had it been you weren't a virgin, I would have bleeped the both of you right there." I murmured angrily. I soon finished and got out of the bathroom, Shape and Cynthia were busy with the TV and chatting away when I got out. I eyed her again and turned my face towards Cynthia. "Cynthia, you can do anything with her," I pointed at Shape and continued "but don't be friends please." Shape laughed and Cynthia smiled. "Why?" she asked "Because it will be an infringement on some of my interests, just don't be friends with her abeg." The two of then burst into laughter. It puzzled me how Cynthia wasn't even angry at Shape for disrupting our little fun, well shaa, girls and their ways. I managed to change, away from their prying eyes and trust me, it wasn't easy at all. Shape never for once took her eyes off and Cynthia took occasional glances. 2pm and were already on our way out, I, Shape and Cynthia. We got to where we had to pick a bus, Cynthia bade us farewell and dropped a simmering hot hug on me, one that let my body x-ray hers. As she walked away from us, all protruding parts of her body shook and my dick nodded in unison. "That was what you made me miss." I said and pinched Shape at her back. She winced and slapped my arm off. "Don't worry, Chinaza will compensate you for that." "I'm always telling you, they are not the same." "Which is better, she or Naza?" "Don't ask me," I replied. She laughed and rubbed my hand in a way that I couldn't help but smile. You needed to see how Chinaza threw herself at me when we got to her lodge. If I hadn't eaten, I would have landed on the ground. She was all over me, showing me off to her lodge mates in a way that got me wondering if she thought I was some celebrity. The sweet aroma of fried rice ushered us into her room. Funny enough, that was my first time of ever visiting her. The room was up to her standard as a girl. The room was very feminine in a an appealing way and I loved it. The pot of rice soon got down from the fire, we sang a happy birthday song, I presented my borrowed gifts which she loved so much and never hid that fact, she returned the favor with loads of kisses and sweet names calling. I flashed the "Borrowed Bottle of Red Wine" in her face and dropped it by the bed. Apparently she hated red wines and wasn't going to drink it. I brought it for that purpose though, because I was going to return it to the owner, I don't have 5k to lavish on colored alcoholic water when Heineken and Smirn Off is always available. Well, the music came on and she twerked to her birthday, she had the floor alone for sometime before Shape joined her and then her other sexy lodge mates. She twerked on me and I praised God that I didn't miss this birthday for anything. Her happiness made me happy and the coming night looked so promising, if you know what I mean. The power of alcohol could never be over estimated, Not even the devil could keep me away from shape's backside, I tapped all the blessings and kept it for myself alone. Her female lodge mates weren't spared too, it was a rocking spree and I immersed myself fully in in it. The other guys couldn't keep away from shape, I didn't like it and wished I had brought James along, he would have handled shape and kept her away from those scavengers. We danced and danced, got more drunk and danced more. Had it been possible, I don't who would have done it but I was sure one person between Chinaza and I, would have swallowed the other. Only then did I realize how much I had missed my baby. Maybe the booze in my system opened my eyes to that fact. She was so beautiful as she sweated from the rigorous twisting and shaking of her body and assets. And when the time came, remember that borrowed bottle of wine? The one of "FIVE THOUSAND NAIRA", the one I was planning to return? Yes, that particular one, Chinaza "Popped" it! http://gistrealm..com.ng/2017/03/diary-of-broke-playboy-35.html?m=1 |

The classroom could be likened to a graveyard going by the fact that not even the breath of the pupils could be heard, that's how Miss Martha Loved her classroom to be. She sat on her desk busy with the class works piled up in her face and observing the details over the rims of her glasses. She shifted her gaze from the the books to the kids, who had their heads on their desks, each time she heard even the faintest of noise without moving, only her eyeballs rotating in their sockets. August got up slowly from his seat at the far end of the wall and walked quietly towards the door. "August" Miss Martha called without raising her eyes from the books. He stopped and turned in her direction. "Come here" she commanded, her gazed still fixed on the books. He walked up to her noiselessly, like his feet wasn't touching the ground. "And where are you going?" she asked, not looking up for once. "The toilet" he muttered "Where?" she asked "The toilet" he said louder, fidgeting his fingers. "You could have taken an excuse from me, that would be proper, don't you think?" "I'm sorry ma'am" he said "Good, next time, say excuse me miss" "Yes ma'am" She dismissed him with a wave of the hand and he walked briskly out of the classroom and headed straight to the toilet. He locked the door and climbed the covered water cistern to access the small window above it. Through the window, he observed the school backyard and everywhere was clear with nobody in site. He climbed the toilet seat and heaved himself up through the window and effortlessly climbed out the other side. He dropped his feet on the floor and broke into a run, climbing the short back fence of the school and running into surrounding bushes. * * * "How do you think he will feel when he sees you again" Oscar asked looking at Jaycee who watched the school gate from the passenger side of the blue sedan. "I don't know but I wouldn't want him to see me" "I know but you know" "Know what? Must you always talk?" Jaycee asked staring at him. "No, I was just thinking and imaging the thrill when he sets eyes on you, he may run, you know, thinking you may be a ghost and all" He chewed his gum mechanically and smiled as he talked. Jaycee laughed and tilted his head to the side, shifting his gaze to the road ahead of them. "Like the ghost in the church graveyard?" he asked with a grin "He knows I'm no ghost" "Yea, but he thinks you live in a grave yard" "Mad mad, I think you are better off dead" "Hahaha" Jaycee started to chuckle and stopped halfway, all of a sudden. "Look who we have here" he said, watching Jaime clear his car at the other side of the road. "Jaime Rodneck" Oscar mouthed slowly. "The Bleep is he doing here?" "His son schools here you know" "Bleep you Oscar" "Welcome" he replied with a grin, Jaycee smiled and tugged at the pistol tucked into his pants "I could take a shot you know?" He threw a gaze at Oscar who scoffed. "And you can be sure of your second death bro, Nancy ain't here" "Oh, my Love and savior" From the other side of the road, Jaime got down from his car and shut the door, observing his wrist watch at the same time. "1:50 pm" he whistled and walked into a store across the road, trailed by the eyes of Oscar and Jaycee. "I could take a clean shot and I would be sure to have him" Jaycee muttered. "Man at least be grateful, he is looking after your brother for bleeps sake, give it time bro" "Cool, one day, I will have a go at his cop ass" "I thought you already charged August with that?" "It's gonna take a million years for him to be able to do that, he may even fall in love with the man" "Yea, considering he has a cute daughter who's all over August" Oscar commented with a broad smile on his face. "I may kill you before I kill him eventually" "No you won't, you love me bro" He let out a dry laughter and observed Jaycee who had a smile at the corner of his lips "I hope you ain't thinking about going out there for him" "Not really, but now that you mentioned it, I'm considering it" He threw him a stare and grinned savagely. "Good thing I got the wheels" "I know a lot about drive by shooting" "I just pray you are not serious about this" Oscar said with a tone of seriousness in his voice. "I pray so too" Jaycee replied absent mindedly, massaging his pistol. August crept back into the school in time before dismissal. He clutched a white shovel as he walked back to the toilet window. He dropped it against the wall and climbed back into the building through the window. He made his way through the scanty hallway and back into the class without a word from the teacher. He sat down on his seat at the far end of the wall, smacking his lips in satisfaction. Time dragged on and everyone waited quietly for the dismissal bell. August played and replayed his simple plan in his mind. He smiled at himself and nodded with satisfaction each time. The clock above the classroom board clicked 2 pm and the school bell followed. The pupils all stood up, happy that the boring day at school was over, the race for who will make it out the classroom door first began but not after August had slid through. He ran down the hallway and around the school building, making his way to the back where he dropped the shovel. He picked it and observed it closely, he waved it around and nodded. Dragging it behind him, he trudged on, back into the hallway and moved through the flood of student unnoticed with his tool. He moved a little distance and stopped. From where he stood, he could see Terry's back turned in his direction, he was standing with 2 of his friends, yelling out his point at everyone around. August squeezed his face and put his hand against his racing heart, heaving a heavy sigh, he walked on, dragging the shovel behind him. "Terry!" he called out, moving quickly in his direction, the shovel heavy and ready in his hands. Terry turned swiftly to respond to the call, setting his face for the impact with the shovel. August put all his energy in the effort and landed him a fatal blow on the face with the shovel. He fell immediately on impact, August followed up with another blow, he got him on the head as he lay writhing in pain, the two friends with him bolted as the pupils around stood around watching with awe. "Please, don't hit me again" Terry begged, his left hand in the air as he crawled away from his assailant. August moved closer with murderous intent. Terry let out a blood curling scream as another blow landed him squarely on the head and left a gash at the side of his blond hair, he passed out as blood tickled out of the gash, August let the shovel drop beside his still body, he let out a smile of satisfaction as he stood over him, victorious in his own terms. He looked up from the body and saw a teacher running towards his direction, he took a quick turn and dashed in the opposite direction. Jaime walked out of the store clutching two packs of cookie in his hand and walked to his car and pulled the door open. He dropped them on the seat besides the drivers seat and sat down, with the door still open. He checked his wrist watch again and the time came back as 2:15 pm. "They should be out by now" he murmured and got out of the open door, adjusting his trouser. "A black Mercedes car" Jaycee sang out, watching a black Mercedes car pull up from behind them "This is not good". "What?" Oscar asked. "Every single bad news I ever came up against is associated with this make of car, gotta to be ready for the worst" he said. Pulling out his gun from his pants. Oscar grabbed his own piece from underneath his chair and placed it on his laps. They watched the car pull up in their front and came to a halt before them. "Now what?" Oscar asked "Just wait and see what happens next" "Do you think they are here because of you?" "I don't know" "Maybe you should have stayed underground like before" "Don't be a sissy man" Jaycee whispered. They sat there for another 10 minutes, the tensile atmosphere within the car could not go unnoticed, they switched their gaze from Jaime who rested on his car to the black Mercedes parked in front of them, the car was so still that it gave them the creeps, no one had gotten down from the car and the glasses were all tinted. The next 5 minutes saw August run out of the school gate into the street. They saw him at the same time Jaime saw him, the Mercedes came to life again. "August" Jaycee gasped and flipped his door open, sliding his blue face cap on, he jumped down from the car with his gun held tight by his right hand. August made out Jaime in time and rushed at him breathing heavily. Jaime grabbed him as he came to him. "What's the matter?" he asked as August panted continuously, trying to catch his breath. In a split second, the Mercedes jerked forward and screeched to a stop beside Jaime and August, Jaime raised his face to look at the car, the tinted glass wound down and they came face to face with a masked man, his right hand held a glock pointed at them. "Put the boy in the car" he commanded. Jaime stared at him with a stubborn expression all over his Face. "I said get the boy into the damn car 'fore I blow you open" he thundered a second time. Jaycee stood a little distant from the car and raised his gun up, he squeezed the trigger and the bullets flew in through the back of the car, shattering the rear glasses, the masked man withdrew his head back into the car, Jaime took the distraction as an opportunity and grabbed August, he dashed around to the other side of his car and withdrew his pistol from its strap. "Stay down" he yelled at August and waited some seconds before slowly and discreetly creeping up the front of the car. The sunroof of the Mercedes snapped open and the masked man came out of it, pulling an assault rifle along with him, Jaycee saw him early enough and dashed further down the street. The man pulled the trigger and the gun let out a cackling sound, firing leads at Jaycee who dodged in time. "Shit, told that boy to be careful" Oscar muttered and started the engine of the car. From the side of the car, Jaime took an inconsistent aim and fired at the man, he missed and gained his attention, he turned to shoot at him but stopped on a second thought. He went back into the car and faced his driver companion with his black hat. He shook his head at him and he hit the steering wheel with his fist. "I'm not leaving here without him" he yelled and drove the car back with rage and full force. He pulled up behind Jaime's car and opened his door, jumping out of the car with his assault rifle. Jaycee ran forward, reducing the distance between him and where they stood, he fired aimlessly at the car again, the man in hat shot a look at his direction and their eyes met. Jaycee held his gaze with a shock expression all over his face. He smiled at him and jumped back into the car compelled by shots fired by Jaime. "Williams!" August yelled as the man got into the car. "Stay the Bleep down" Jaime yelled at him. He was standing and trying to get a better look at the man in hat. He couldn't mistake the face of his brother. He tried running to the car but was held back by Jaime. The Mercedes Jerked forward and dashed further up the road, escaping into the bend ahead. Oscar did a 180 degree turn and stopped right before a stunned Jaycee. "Get into the car man" He opened the door and called out to him. Jaycee snapped out of his shock and jumped into the open door, Oscar screeched the car forward and drove away through the other end of the street. "Damn it, that was fucking Williams" he snapped. http://www.talesbychi.com.ng |

"Hey, Donati". The voice was more than familiar and August stopped on his track, his heartbeat racing out of control. He dreaded Terry and he hardly let's him pass without a tease which gets physical sometimes. He stood still, looking ahead of him while Terry approached with his friends from behind. He nudged him at the back and came to stand face to face with him. August squeezed his face and stared hard at his shoes, punching his hand into a fist. "How is your wife August?" he asked, referring to Janet and squeezing at August's nose", he pushed his hand away and raised his face, staring at him eyeball to eyeball. Terry gave out a wicked grin and the two boys with him followed suit, August felt the tears trying to well up in his eyes and sniffed in an effort to keep them back. He bit hard as his lips and gave his tormentor a stare filled with bitter hatred. "Are you going to cry now, Donati?" Terry asked and laugh while the pupils around stared on. "One day Terry, I am going to put a bullet in between those dirty teeth of yours " he blurted out and sniffed again. Terry couldn't deny that he was surprised and shaken by the outburst but he wasn't going to let it show. " What did you say?" he asked looking him closer in the eyes. "You heard me, Pig" he yelled and tried walking away, Terry held him by his hand and pulled him back forcefully, he fell to the ground and Terry Jumped on him. He was stronger and that gave him the edge against August. He sat on his belly and landed him blows all over his face, August tried gripping his wrist but failed many times. He gave him a punch that left a bruise at the side of his face that left it bloodied. August winced in pain as he lay helplessly on the ground with students around cheering them on. Janet ran up from the end of the hallway, clutching her school bag and trying to see through the strands of hairs that littered her eyes. She got close to the action and without a second thought, hit Terry hard on the head with the bag, he screamed from pain and jumped up from August, Janet dropped the bag and landed him a heavy blow on the stomach. He staggered back and observed her with rage in his eyes, she ignored him and helped a sobbing August from the ground. Terry left with his crew at the realization that he couldn't do anything to Janet without being busted. Janet helped clean August up and pulled him by the hand, leading him out of the school premises. "I will kill him for this" he muttered as Janet led him on. "When?" she asked bitterly and August observed her with a bit of surprise. "I don't know, soon maybe" "Please do or I'm telling dad about it" she said and he could tell she was unhappy with the way she sounded. "Sorry" she muttered, squeezing his hand and he nodded. "Tell me about your family" she asked, looking at him with a smile. Reminding of his family made him sad but he was also happy in way, he couldn't remember everything but the happy moments played back in his mind, he revealed to her all the times they were happy together, they little memories his young mind could bring back made Janet wish she had a family like that. She was happy to see the smile through his bruised face. "Are you happy?" she asked him and he nodded. "I'm happy, you make me happy". They walked home together, holding each other by the hand and once again, he was happy and glad that she was there. * * * * "I need a gun" he said with a stone cold look on his face "What do you need a gun for?" Oscar asked, turning to look at him. "I want to kill a person?" "Who?" "Terry, the bully" "Oh, I see, can you shoot a gun?" "Yes, I did it once, it was easy" he said, still looking in the direction of the church yard. Oscar kept mute for sometime before talking again. "You are still too young to have one" "But how am I supposed to deal with people that try to intimidate me, how will I avenge my family?" he asked in a teary voice. "There, you are crying again. You are not yet strong enough and you can't handle a gun if you are not strong enough" he said. "I promise I won't cry again" he said and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand "That's good, when you are old enough, I'll get you one" "How do I fight Terry, he beat me up today and I was saved by a girl" "Did you fight back?" "No" he shook his head, staring at the dark ground "he was stronger" "Hmmm, you don't have to get closer to him, try and handle him from afar" "How will I do that without a gun?" "It mustn't be a gun, there are other ways you know, but you will have to figure that out yourself" He nodded and they both got up from the grave. They had been talking for over 1 hour and the church clock had announced the time as 11pm some minutes ago. "We will meet again and I would like you to have handled Terry by then" "I will" he said. He covered his head back with his hood and ran out of the cemetery and the church into the road. Oscar moved deeper into the cemetery like before and met with two people, a boy and a girl, standing there, apparently waiting for him. "He needs a gun" he said on getting closer to them. "What for?" the boy asked "Some bully at school, a guy named Terry, beat him up at school" "bleeps, Maybe I should start following him around, catch up with the bully" he said thoughtfully. "No Jaycee, people are going to see you and know you are still alive" the girl said, clutching on to him. "He has to worry about his dead family, now he also got to add some bully to it?" "They are just kids, he can handle it someway, I already told him about it" Oscar said. "Thanks man, but tomorrow, I'm tracking him personally" Jaycee said. "And Nancy?" Oscar asked nodding at the girl. "She will save me like the last time, if the need be" he said, hugging her tighter to himself. http://www.talesbychi.com.ng |
The room was silent save for the sound of the ticking clock which had announced the time as 12am some minutes ago. In the pitch darkness, Janet tossed and turned, unable to sleep. She had gotten so used to August sleeping with her that she can't shut her eyes without him by her side. She closed her eyes and did her normal ritual of counting 1 to 300 each time she was waiting for something or someone. She counted and still Augusta wasn't there. She hissed and started over again. On getting to the count of 150, she heard a rap on the window. She jerked up and took a look and she saw his face there, she quickly opened the door as stealthily as she could and he climbed in along with cold breeze that hit her in the face. "What took you so long?" she asked as he fell on the bed beside her, shutting back the window. "Nothing, Just felt like staying longer" "You stayed too longer, I was already getting scared" "Did anybody look for me?" he asked "No, no one" Janet had always known about his weekly visits to the grave yard and had asked one time to accompany him, he had refused blatantly, he told her she needed to stay at home and watch out for him. August was like a new addiction to her and she couldn't stay for long without him. "When will I go with you to the graveyard?" she asked after some seconds of silence. "No time, a graveyard is no place for a 7 year old girl" he replied coldly. "But you are 7 too?" she protested. "Yes, I am 7 and a boy too" "I will go with you, if you are there, nothing will happen to me " "Why do you want to go?" "I want to see Joseph's grave" "You can't go please and stop asking" Another minute of silence followed and together on the bed, they listened to the noises around, the periodic sound of passing cars, the ticking of the clock and the noise of the night creatures. "We will go in the afternoon, so the night won't scare us" she muttered. "No Janet, no and no, we ain't going nowhere" "I thought dad told you not to use 2 negatives in a sentence, it's not correct" "Bleep that" he muttered under his breath and inside him, he yelled, "Bleep your dad". "You shouldn't swear too" she said "Fine, can we sleep now?" "No, until you promise" "Fine, I promise, we will go together, one afternoon" "Tomorrow?" she asked with a winning smile on her face. "No, one afternoon, just not tomorrow" "Okay, one afternoon, I won't forget August" "Okay, fine" he gasped out of frustration. She gave a nod, a nod she liked to give whenever she wins an argument, she always wins and she always nods. She snuggled closer to him and placed her head on his shoulder and he let her. "I love you" she whispered "Why?" "I don't know, maybe because you are my brother" "I am not your brother" "I know, but we live together, so you are my brother" "Cool, whatever you say" "- - - - " "Do you love me?" she asked all of a sudden "I don't know" And he really didn't know what or how he felt, all he knew was that he felt better each time he was around her, maybe he was too young to know what he felt. She kept mute for a long time as they lay awake in the dark, obvious of the fact that each other was awake. He was just there, reminiscing what happened at the graveyard when he felt her wet face. "Are you crying?" "- - - - " sniffs "Why are you crying" he asked again and touched her blond hair. "You don't love me" she replied with a teary voice "Did I say that?" "You said you don't know" "Please stop, I love you, Just don't cry" He too was trying not to cry. "Will you leave? Go back to your family?" she asked wiping the tears from her eyes. "I have no family" "But will you ever leave?" she asked, her heart pounding at the perspective answer. "No, I will always stay" He just wanted her to be happy, despite the grudges he bore against her father. She smiled and pecked him on the cheek. "Goodnight" she whispered. "Goodnight" he replied. She slept off in a couple of minutes on his chest. He lay awake all through, thinking of his new family and the old one that was taken away from him, he so much wanted revenge but he didn't know where to start From, he only knew Jaime killed two of his brothers and each time he thought of killing him for that, Janet comes into his mind, he loved and adored her in a way he couldn't figure out and wouldn't want to to see her hurt. The more he thought of his brothers, the angrier he became, he was lost on how to avenge them when the only enemy he knew was being his friend and foster father. "When the time comes, I will know what to do" he muttered and closed his eyes. His conversation with Carter replaying in his mind and he whispering "I am a Donatti" each time. |

August walked through the hall way, his face up staring at nothing and not wanting to make any eye contact. He walked out of the school building and straight to the gate, other school kids were also going home from school. He walked solitarily through them and had only moved few metres from the gate before through the chatters and noises from the school children, he heard someone shout his name. He stopped and turned. "August" Janet called as she ran towards him, gasping for breath. "August, why didn't you wait for me?" she asked facing him. "Nothing, I just wanted to go home fast" he said, hiding his face away from her. "What's wrong with you? You are crying" she asked, observing that his eyes was wet. "Nothing, forget it" he replied, wiping the tears from his eyes. "August, tell me what's wrong" "I said its nothing, please" "Is Terry bullying you again?" she insisted and he kept mute, she took the silence as a positive answer to her question and hugged him. "Don't worry, today, I'm going to tell it to dad and he is going to take care of him" she reassured and he pulled away from her. "No, please don't" "Why? August?" she asked, searching his face with her blue eyes. "Nothing, leave it, I will handle it someday" he said, looking her back in the face. "No, I'm reporting him, he's been doing it for too long and I don't like seeing you unhappy" "Just don't tell him" he pleaded with his eyes. She nodded and held his hand, together, they walked home. They had gotten closer since the morning Janet woke up and saw a complete stranger sleeping by her. She had been scared but was reassured by her parents. She found August uncooperative and had forced her way into his life, pulling him out of his shell. She loved him more than she would have loved a brother. August had adapted to the Rodneck family and lifestyle, it took long but he did blend in, mostly with the help of Janet, he liked her although her persistence can be nerve wrecking most times but he had learnt to cope with her. 2 years had passed since the death of his family, he never for once forgot any of them, he slept and woke up to the thought of them and every time he had a face-off with Terry, he always thought of Jaycee who would have roasted anyone that messed with him. The big clock at St Mathews Catholic church tower sounded an alarm for 10pm. The streets were still a little busy with activities. August moved through the streets in a black hooded sweater. He walked and ran at the same time, keeping away from crowded places. He arrived the church yard and walked through the back to the cemetery. He walked through the graves and made his way to the Centre. He stopped in front of a grave with the name Joseph Donati inscribed on the tombstone. He pulled the hood off his head and sat on the grave, his eyes wet from tears. "I'm sorry I couldn't come visiting last week, I had a lot going on" he said and looked up at the sky. He had always kept a date with his brother's and sister's grave, he had sworn to visit at least once a week and had kept to this oath for the past 2 years. "I'm happy with my foster family, Janet is good, her folks too, I'm alright with them, it's just at school". He stopped and sniffed. He heard shuffling of leaves and took a quick look around. On the dry leaves lying around the floor of cemetery, he saw a wall gecko run away from where he sat, he turned around and continued his narration, unaware of the dark figure that stood some distance, smiling at his back. "At school" he continued "Terry, you don't know him, he is always trying to bring me down, I don't know why but he is always mocking me and our family. Those were the times I wished you or Jaycee was around. I miss you all and I always cry each night, I swear to be a man, a fearless man like you, it's hard for me but one day, I shall grow taller and stronger and I will kill whoever killed you". He fell on the grave and shut his eyes, covering his face with his palms, he sobbed and shook violently like he had always done the previous nights. He sniffed and wiped the tears from his face, opening his eyes, he saw a figure standing over him. He jumped up from the grave and attempted to break into a run but was restricted by strong firm hands. "August, August stop". He stopped wringing, the voice was familiar but he just wanted to get away. Most familiar voices he knew were dead and in the cemetery. "August wait" the voice said again and released the grip on his feeble arms. He turned and peered into the face and with the aid of the moonlight, he was able to make out the face of Carter, Jaycee's friend. "Carter?" he called with quiver in his voice. He smiled back in reply and they both sat at the edge of the grave. "What are you doing here?" August asked after a short silence. "Looking after you" "How?" "You come here every week right?" He nodded in surprise. "I follow you each time you come" "And why?" "Nothing, just looking out for a friend's kid brother" Another seconds of silence followed in which they listened to the noise of crickets and tolling of church bells. "Who is Terry?" Carter broke the silence "A boy in my school" he muttered "How old is he?" "I don't know, should be 2 years older than me" "And he bullies you? " August nodded and sniffed. "I know you wish Joseph or Jay was still around, but you have to know you are all alone now, you have to fight for yourself, if you don't die fighting, you end up stronger, that's how you will be a man August" "How do I fight him, he is stronger and has friends too" "Do you ever fight back?" he asked observing him with the corner of his eyes. "No" he said, shaking his head in the negative. "You see, Fight back and when you do, fight harder than him, maybe in the end, you will come to realize how much stronger you can be" August listened like a new discovery was being uncovered by him and it brought a firm determination from within him that spread to his young face. "Remember whom Joseph always says he is" Carter said in a way that suggested he needed a reply. "He always says he's a Donatti" August replied. "Good, and who are you?" "I am August, August Donatti" he whispered "Eh?" "I am August Donatti" he said louder. "Good, and remember who a Donatti is, he is strong, fearless and bows to no man" The words dripped into his heart like water on cotton and possessed him like an evil spirit. His fear seemed to simmer and fade into the dark, moonlit sky. "August, remember who the enemy is, they are the ones who took your family from you, you have to take theirs from them someday in retaliation and respect to your family, to Joseph, to Maria, you have to wipe them out when the time comes, they are your enemy and don't ever forget that" August punched his fingers into a fist and tears welled up in his eyes, it wasn't the tears he had shed in the past, they were not tears of pain, of sadness, of frustration, no, they were not, they were tears of anger. "How do I know my enemies?" he asked "Good question, now tell me August, have you ever been hurt in the past?" He nodded. "Can you tell me those times?" "When Maria died, when Joseph died and when Jaycee was killed and at school too" he listed thoughtfully "Good, now, can you recall the people that caused your hurts" "Yes, Maria, I killed her killer, at school, Terry" he called out the name with bitter hatred in his eyes. "And Joseph and Jaycee?" He was afraid to call out the name but he was angry. "Jaime Rodneck" he called out softly. "Who?" he asked "Jaime Rodneck" he called out a second time. "Remember August, remember who took your brothers from you, they are not your friends, they are not your family, they took Joseph and one day they have to pay, you have to make them pay" He didn't exactly love Jaime and Kate but they had been nice to him, he respected them but then, he loved his brothers, he had sworn a million times to avenge them, he was angry at everything, he was angry that he was all alone and he was angry at those who made it so. "How do I make them pay?" he asked and Carter placed his left hand on his tiny shoulder. "When the time comes, you will know what to do". He stood up from the grave and looked down on a self determined August. "Who are you?" he asked "I am Donatti" he said. "Remember that, and remember why you are the only Donatti left". He started walking deeper into the cemetery. "Will I see you again?" August called after him. "Just say my name when you visit and you will see me" he replied and disappeared into the night. August stood up and dusted himself, he looked back at the grave of his brother and frowned his face. "Don't worry, I will kill them all". He covered his head back with the hood and ran out of the church into the street, from the front of the church, the man in black hat watched him disappear into an alley. |
