The Senator representing Imo west, Rochas Okorocha has asked the Senate President Ahmad Lawan to teach him how he returned to the senate after losing the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC with him.
The duo contested the primary election of the APC but lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Surprisingly, after some weeks Supreme Court in a verdict, affirmed Lawan as the authentic candidate even though he did not contest the primary, which Bashir Machina was elected as the candidate of the Yobe north senatorial ticket of the party.
Confused with his emergence as the candidate of the Yobe north senatorial ticket, Okorocha speaking during the valedictory session of the ninth senate on Saturday said: “I did not contest for Senate this period. I only contested for the office of the president.
“You are a very smart politician. How you came back is another chapter in our political history that we need to discuss.
“I was there in the field with you running for president, I never knew how you were able to meander, leaving some of us. Next time you must teach me how to do that.”
Reacting to his appeal Lawan said: “It was easy. I was there with you in the field and after our defeat, my constituents thought they needed me again.
“They asked for me to come back and it was a tortious journey because we had to go through the courts.”
Former @cenbank Governor Godwin @GodwinIEmefiele has finally landed in Abuja after he was arrested at his Lagos home at 2am in the morning/ He was flown on a PJ from Lagos accompanied by a team of DSS men.

They include his principal, @MBuhari , the ex-Attorney General, Abubakar @Malami SAN. Buhari’s cousin and ex- Private Secretary, Tunde Sabiu, Chief of Defense Staff, General Irabor whose wife was given the task of printing naira notes under the pretext of being falsely appointed by the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company. Gen Irabor severally interfered with investigations and obstructed justice in attempt to shield @GodwinIEmefiele from investigations, arrest and prosecution . #RevolutionNow
Former Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has confirmed that he’s been offered the opportunity to serve in President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the capacity of a Minister or something close to that, but that a decision hasn't yet been reached.
Kwankwaso said he was in the presidential villa on Friday, in continuation of the discussion of the matter with the President, as well as other issues particularly the ongoing rift between the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf and former Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The talks are coming at a time when tensions are rising again between the new NNPP-led Kano Government and the previous APC Government.
However, it seems that the conversation between Kwankwaso and Tinubu once again shows the good relationship and support that the NNPP can get from the Federal Government.
He said: “We are waiting for the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly that will be done next week. There are strong indications that I will be given ministerial responsibility or something close to that. But that will be confirmed after the inauguration of 10th National Assembly. I won’t say much on that now because we are still discussing the matter and we would arrive at a conclusion soon.
“The President suggested that I serve in his government as a minister or in other capacity but that has not been concluded. Soon, we would conclude on that and statement will be made in that regard.
“I also had robust discussion with the President on the political issue in Kano particularly the recent decision of the Kano governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to carry out demolition exercise of some structures erected in several places in Kano that ought not to be. Unfortunately, the immediate-past governor, Umar Ganduje, approved the building for whatever reason.
“I made him under that most of the information he was being fed with was wrong, and provided the right information that convinced him that the former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, made several errors and took steps to enrich himself and his friends instead of the generality of Kano people.
“We raised the alarm when the constructions were being done, and suggested that the governor stop the work, making reference to the implications of some of his actions, but he failed to act. It’s unfortunate that many people were affected but we have to reclaim the land.”
The DSS had in February 2023, accused suspended CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele of terrorists financing.
However, DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, asked to confirm the arrest, only said “Inundated. I may not be able to make any confirmations NOW, please.”
LEADERSHIP Sunday reports that Emefiele had been accused by the DSS of fraternizing with a well-known terror financier, whose name was not disclosed.
The DSS said the CBN governor was involved in the financing of terrorism and must answer for the alleged crime.
Back in February, it said preliminary investigation revealed various acts of terrorism financing, fraudulent activities perpetrated by Emefiele and his involvement in economic crimes of national security dimension.
In the heat of the case, the DSS had tried to arrest Emefiele but a Federal High Court in Maitama, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja issued an order restraining it from arresting Emefiele.
This ruling, delivered by Justice M.A. Hassan also applied to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who were listed as defendants.
Earlier, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja declined an application filed by the DSS to arrest and detain Emefiele over the grave allegations against him.
In declining the motion ex parte filed by the secret police, Justice J. T. Tsoho, the Chief Judge, said the DSS did not provide any concrete evidence to substantiate its claims that Emefiele was involved in terrorism financing and economic crimes.
When Emefiele returned to Nigeria after spending several weeks away, military personnel and intelligence officers were deployed to ensure that he was not arrested by the DSS.
The then CBN governor headed to his office after his return with massive security, specifically military protection.
Recall that Emefiele had nursed presidential ambition and attempted to vie for the office on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
After facing opposition from some quarters including within the CBN, Emefiele approached the Delta State High Court sitting in Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area, Delta State, to get an order restraining the apex bank and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from stopping him from contesting the 2023 presidential election.
He eventually backed down after it was clear that he would have to resign from office to contest the presidential primary election of the ruling party.
While in office, he also introduced a redesigned Naira currency weeks before the presidential election with political pundits insinuating the policy was targeted at the presidential campaign of Bola Tinubu, now president.
Emefiele in the statement from the office of the SGF was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms.
Folashodun is the deputy governor, Operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
The lead story on the front page of ThisDay of Sunday, June 4th, 2023 entitled NLC Divided as North, South-West Chapters May Shun Planned Strike , is a laughable and desperate attempt by enemies of the people to polarise Nigeria Labour Congress along ethnic or regional lines on an issue with a national spread.
Happily, this scenario only plays in their imagination as Nigeria Labour Congress continues to be the biggest pan-Nigerian organisation united by a common vision/ mission and shared national values.
On the looming strike action, we want to assure that all the affiliate unions of the Congress stand together with an unshakeable resolve to prosecute, come Wednesday, except the NNPC and Government do the needful.
Whereas, primordial sentiments such as religion, region or ethnicity may be refuge for some, at the Nigeria Labour Congress, they have no place. What counts for us are issues such as the mindless and criminal increase in the pump price of pms whose burden will be borne by the already impoverished communities of the poor across Nigeria.
The burden of this malevolent policy will not be borne by other segments of the country to the exclusion of the North or South- West. Thus, there is no reason for these regions to back out of the strike.
We do not know from where ThisDay got their story. However, if this is their way of making up for the gaps in their relationship with the new entities in power, we would say, it is rather excessive!

Mr Elrufai, retired Governor now back to ‘blogging on Twitter’ while waiting for political appointment from Tinubu, after working for Amaechi and surreptitiously dropping negative stories.
You left a huge debt profile for our Children and grand Children in Kaduna State to pay AND YOU claimed that you NEVER STOLE from the coffers of Kaduna State. One of your stooge even claimed that you are poorer now. I dare you to make public your assets by publishing the content of the form you submitted at the Code of Conduct Bureau, both the one of 2015 and that of 2023.
A section of the Press is mischievously twisting the narrative to read that TINUBU’s GOVERNMENT HAS REMOVED SUBSIDY. That is NOT CORRECT. TINUBU’s govt has merely inherited a regime where there was no provision for subsidy in the 2023 Appropriation Act as from June, 2023 and the Petroleum Industry Act which is now extant has no provision for subsidy. President Tinubu merely acknowledged this state of affairs in his inaugural speech at the Eagle Square.
So any advocate of subsidy should convince the Nigerian people why President Tinubu should start on a note of illegality by promising to reintroduce something which the law has taken away. They should also convince the Nigerian people why President Tinubu should embark on a present illegality that gulped $10 billion of our scarce or unavailable resources in 2022 alone.
Those claiming to defend the right or welfare of workers should convince the Nigerian people that $10 billion injected into the economy yearly will not jumpstart the economy enough as to create massive jobs and even increase the same minimum wage they complain about.
That is the conversation the Nigerian people are prepared to have now
The immediate past governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, were barred from entering the VIP section during the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu on Monday.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the VIPs were seated in the state box while other dignitaries were seated in other pavilions of the Eagle Square.
According to the BBC Hausa report, Mr Ganduje, who arrived at the state box with a green-coloured invitation card alongside his wife, Hafsat Ganduje, was refused entry by the security operatives.
The security operatives reportedly told Mr Ganduje that only guests with golden-coloured invitation cards would be allowed into the VIP pavilion.
In a video circulating online, Mr Soludo was also seen being redirected to another sitting position by security operatives.
Reacting to the incident on his Facebook page, Bashir Ahmad, a social media aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed disappointment over how the former Governor was treated.
He said, “Honestly, I’m not happy with the way our former governor was embarrassed today.
“If I had had prior notice, I would have prevented the embarrassment by providing him with an invitation card that would grant him access into the VIP section,” Mr Ahmad posted in Hausa.

They have all consistently declined media interviews since the proceedings began. On Tuesday, Adeniyi who led the APC legal team in court said unlike the petitioners who speak to the media after each day’s proceeding, they as respondents have taken a collective decision against it
The Justices responded by saying they are seeing more of the lawyers in the case on TV than the reporters covering the case as well as members of the public, advising the lawyers to reduce the number of lawyers they bring to court.
One of the justices said, “Allow TV reporters do their work”

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted a large consignment of methamphetamine concealed in powdered custard containers as part of a consolidated cargo going to London, United Kingdom at the SAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos.
