Benodic of Eckankar is a moniker I have followed for long (2012 or so) . I immediately thought of him when you asked me the question. If you read his old threads you will see that I have commented them from time to time and examined meticulously. Aside nairaland I have taken time to study the movement to some extent.

Benodic is someone I hold in high esteem, just as mnankwo or juscool of the grail message, or Bigfrancis of the new age, which I mentioned in that answer.

Still, my opinion about these movements, like I told you earlier, stand and I am ready and willing to defend it anywhere. It must not be the truth, it is simply the result of my own experience with esoteric paths and analysis. Hence I always mention that it is an opinion.

If you have any criticism or remarks feel free to air them. They would be more than welcomed.

i am a very practical person and so far as i am concerned all the religious semantics, logic, practices etc does not make sense if it doesn't make you a better person who gives love to his neighbor without any discrimination. that to me is what matters. and moreover i respect people's space and this thread is not about my path.

I will answer your question at 2 levels. Ideologically and practically. Let start with the practical level.

If I correctly capture your thoughts, what is described here is a natural phenomenon that any seeker experiences.

Nature always looks for the middle path, the state of perfect equilibrium and rest. When we swing to the left, life will force us to swing to the right with the same intensity and frequency. Hence, each time a person gives himself with dedication to a spiritual quest, at some point he will experience what you described, a movement of opposite direction that will cause this erring in the desert (rightfully called dark night).

A solution that was suggested to me then, was to take control of the pendulum yourself, through proper grounding in material things. This means regulate the frequency of your spiritual journey to correspond to your earthly one. Great Taoist Master Lao Tzu used to do a cycle of ten days: ten days of meditative practice, ten days of martial arts practice, ten days of resting cooking and relaxing with family. In tantra, it is encouraged to learn to shift from periods of spiritual activity to periods of gross matter pursuits where one gives no thoughts to the former at any level.

Find a way to be grounded in your spiritual practice (in whatever path you choose) perfectly balanced between yin and yang dimensions, and you will experience fewer and fewer such periods.

Now lets take a look at this from a higher standpoint.

just want to encourage you with what you are doing here. for me, i have simply stopped bothering and what is happening in your thread shows exactly why i stopped bothering. those who will know will know and those who will not know will not know and even though they have eyes they will not be able to see and even though they have ears they will not be able to hear.
to reach spiritual maturity as soul to be able to understand esoteric truths is not an easy task. it takes lifetimes upon lifetimes. experiences upon experiences.

The spirit and soul have different faculties, and so the faculties of the spirit, comprises of Fellowship, Conscience, Discernment or Intuition, whilst the faculties of the Soul comprises of the Mind (i.e. consciousness and sub consciousness) or Intellect, Will or Freewill, and Emotions and the Body has 5 faculties of senses, which are, to see via the eyes, hear via the ears, feel via applicable part of the body, smell via the nose and taste via the mouth.

Mind you, the Soul is the most important existence of Man and that is why the battle is and always has been about or over the Soul. All attacks, are ultimately targeted at and for the Soul. Now, the Soul is the first medium key component of Man created by God and Man is tickled and accessed through this same Soul by way of the body and spirit. The Soul, in effective, is the mediator between the body and spirit

The different faculties in the Soul waits, to pick up signals coming from the relevant and/or applicable faculties in the Body and the Spirit. This crucial bit of information, is very important to grasp, that the Soul receives from the Body and deposits into the Spirit. Whatever the Body reads or sees via the eyes, hears via the ears, feels via applicable part of the body, smells via the nose and talks or tastes via the mouth is picked up by the Soul and deposited into the Spirit. The Spirit then, upon receiving things from the Soul, has to deal with or process what the Soul has deposited into its laps.

This is why regulation is very important. It is why we ought to control and oversee what the Soul is picking up from or picking up with the senses. If you have to by all means, eat the chicken or fish, then its necessary to know when and how to spit out the bones, or if it's straw to eat, then know when and how to spit out the sticks, alternatively, if it's liquor to drink, and you cant hold it down so you don't throw it up, then know how or when to stay away from the liquor
