I honestly will not be shocked if Sadiq claims the 9 role. His pressing, and being able to drift to midfield and both wings will give him an edge over Awo.
I think that was why Eguavoen desperately wanted Osimhen. It is going to be a case of utilizing long balls. Does Sadiq do well playing as a lone striker? |

Starboytwo: yeah it’s true, the supernerd can fit the role well, Andrew can clearly work in the glass house or technical director, you and idenna are very tall and fit as I heard, whose better to man the gates. Idíat na gateman role you go give me, then put agbero like Andrew as a technical director? |

TheGoodJoe:
I believe so too but I don't think Eguavoen sees Nacho as a striker. I have noticed that our old professionals share similar views of football.
Nacho, Aribo, and Iwobi might battle for the ten role. Eguavoen has already defined what he wants.
Someone who can play close to the midfield and also contribute to the attack. He used Kanu Nwankwo.
I see Nacho edging them due to his passing ability, long and short. He is also a lethal finisher.
Awoniyi and Sadiq will battle for the nine role.
That is my take from my observations. Well, let's see how it goes. I'm not really sold on Awoniyi, maybe I haven't really observed him closely, but he tends to miss more than he scores and that could harm the team in a match where chances are scarce. |

Danielnino00: Awoniyi for me.. Aside him being the most in-form striker, he was also among the very first to arrive camp, so he definitely must have earned some level of trust from the coach... With a midfield of Ndidi-Nwakali-Aribo, I would start a more clinical striker in Iheanacho, because surely chances will be created. Then, I would flank the striker with Ejike and Chuks. These days, Chuks creates chances like mad |

lbrichman2: Yes o Big Doc Thanks for schooling the thread on what it means to be a midfield conductor and creator All the noise about no goals are assists are borne out of ignorance of the roles of such players Atleast now you mentioned players that are respected, maybe some will begin to respect Nwakali more.. Thanks again Their next line will be, if he could conduct so well, why then is he still in the Segunda Liga? Komekn will lead the charge, and others will follow. |

12large1: You might have a good point here o because I just viewed Xavi and Modric 2010 and 2018 stats and it doesn’t seem very impressive enough to win b’allon d’or
Modric 2018 World Cup stats 2 goals and 1 assist in 7 games
Xavi 2010 World Cup stats 0 goals and 0 assist
Okay, as a Central midfielder, you might not score/assist bountifully, but, your over control of the tempo of the game can have a huge impact on your team result Now, you get the point my man |

Kog45: Sir I don't see Nwakili starting unless he does something extra ordinary to the build up to our first match....am still seeing Eguavoen going for Ndidi-Aribo-Iwobi and their performance would be the key for Nwakili to unlock. Exactly how I see it, but I would be so glad if he could prove to be that jigsaw. Nothing gladdens my heart than seeing my midfield flourish while I have a potent fire power. With a good Midfield, our defense wouldn't be very much exposed as has been the case lately |

TheSuperNerd: Chris. We have been lacking Midfield control for 2 years under Rohr. Mikel left and things fell apart in the middle. We depended heavily on the wings for our creativity and long balls from the back. It wasn't funny.
I am certain that Nwakali's entrance will help bring the balance I have been crying for and why do you think Eguavoen called him up?
Look, we have a goal scoring MF on Aribo. We need to utilise that. We have an elite and world class ball winner and defensive shield in Ndidi. We have a similar thing in Onyeka who is more of pressing machine. And in Iwobi, we have an AM who can play on the wings if need be. But none of them are genuine Midfield playmakers from deep.
And the beauty of having this dynamism in the middle is that we can mix things up. Also, a DLP is harder to track and press than one who plays #10. People just don't see this tactical angle. Well, let's see how it goes |

Kog45: Till today am not sold on Ndidi and Onyeka starting together....why not Ndidi-Aribo-Iwobi or Ndidi-a rejuvenated Nwakili-Aribo.I always see Onyeka as a natural back up to Ndidi. Ndidi-Aribo-Iwobi has been tested and the result often came out negative, hence the urge to get Nwakali aboard the ship, to try to utilize Aribo's new found mojo as an AM, while Nwakali conducts as Ndidi shields. I would bench Iwobi |

TheSuperNerd: Onyeka can be brought in for Nwakali to close shop alongside Ndidi. But for the most parts, if we truly wanna take the game to the Egyptians, we have to play on the front foot. We have to wrestle control from the Egyptians in the middle game and dictate the flow and rhythm of play. Nwakali will have to prove his mettle before this conclusion can be reached because he is still a greenhorn as long as the senior national team is concerned. Mind you, this isn't doubting his abilities, but being factual. First step - Give him a shot, if he does well, continue with him, otherwise, try other options. |

drDoom3: Please help me ask them o. Onyeka that is even better than Ndidi in the EPL this season. Onyeka and Aribo have been our best two midfielders in Europe this season as Ndidi has been struggling with Soumare pairing. No coach will select Nwakali over these guys except by favoritism.
I have a feeling that Nwakali will get to the AFCON and when he gets gametime, he'll put on a howler that will show how far he currently is from the level of the best midfielders in Africa who play for the top clubs in the top leagues in Europe. It is not by being technical or commanding midfield, if you are not on the top level professionally it will show. Imagine Partey and Kessie who have been playing consistently against the best players in the world coming up against Nwakali in midfield. Who do you think will win the duel? Puerile postulations and unfounded imaginations. 5naira post |

TheSuperNerd: Bennacer and Onyeka should not be in the same sentence. Onyeka lacks Bennacer's passing range.
They are similar in energy levels. Similar in pressing. But one can pass wayyyyy better that is what makes one a Midfield conductor and the other just a pressing machine.
Tactical analyses of these players is not hard naa. Eye test sees it all but we would rather play one because we watch him on TV daily by popular demand even when he doesn't have what is needed to strike that tactical balance we lack in the middle.
This thing no hard. Na just argue people wan argue. If you read between the lines, you would understand that I was a bit picky, and my statement conditional and subjunctive. It was not a given, hence I hinged my points on Onyeka being as energetic and combative as Bennacer, appreciating his deficiencies too. It is just something the coach could give a shot IF the plan A(Nwakali) falls short(which I seriously doubt, by the way) |

With this guy as our CM, I see us dominating midfields at the AFCON, if Ndidi could bring his A-game, and Aribo adapts to African soccer. That said, it wouldn't also hurt to have Onyeka as the CM because I feel with his combative/energetic play in the midfield, he could give us that Bennacer vibe. Bennacer was the major reason Algeria won that last AfCon. Dude was a gladiator, a Norse, a viking and Trojan in that midfield battling like a wounded lion.
