These NDDC guys are not serious, wasting Nigeria's money. Just look at all the roads they are doing in the New Benin area, where I live. The job is not neat, it's not solid. Plants are already growing out of the roads. And the tar is finding its way small small. The people say the NDDC came to paint the roads. Residents of Eweka road made the workers leave their street, telling them if they don't want to do a good job they should go. And I support them, NDDC has destroyed my street road.

Let them report to the necessary quarters, There are some good job NDDC also did well in Benin, don’t generalize your point , other places are not like that, I guess the contractor fault

NDDC awards contracts many people get to have a slice of the cake but when state govts award contracts just a few get it.

The contracts NDDC awards appear to be in lots and is quite wide but the state will award what can be said to be Narrow contracts.

Edo State NDDC coordinator Hon Uwuilekhue Saturday has listed some projects embarked on by the NDDC under his leadership as State Rep/Commissioner in Edo for 2 years.

Uwuilekhue who’s efforts was applauded by the stakeholders, also said after the 2018 NDDC budget is implemented, there will be more positive dramatic turnaround in the State, as he assured stakeholders.

Just as the year is coming to end with election drawing closer, there is a better view of who represents Edo South in the upper chamber come 2019, as Political parties have come together to unanimously endorse the candidature of APC senatorial Candidate Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon who is popularly known as IGODOMIGODO

The various State Chairmen of the 13 political parties led by the State Chairman of the Accord party Hon. Joseph Omorodion in a joint meeting of political parties, made the pronouncement to endorse Patrick Obahiagbon with the support of other party Chairmen. Hon. Omorodion said the endorsement is of great necessity to go beyond party line to reward Patrick Obahiagbon ‘s service to the people while he represented Oredo federal constituency for four years.

Other party Chairmen also confirmed IGODOMIGODO’s exploits in the National Assembly, “Having considered his past record we have deem it fit to come to the climax of this endorsement today, by reasons of what he has done in the past, his track records have been able to step us on our toes to undertake this task that we are here for today, as a matter of fact we are not doing this because he is in the ruling party, we are doing this because he has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubts , that as a matter of fact he has the capacity to represent the people, that is why we are here today to endorse and assure you of our full support”, as stated by one of the Chairmen Mr. Kennedy Odion of UPP


Hon. Washington Osifo was not left out as the coalition of political parties jointly endorsed him too to represent Uhumwode in the Edo State house of Assembly, with reasons given as a result of his wonderful performance while he was Edo State Commissioner for Education.

Patrick Obahiagbon who could not hide his joy thanked the various political parties and assured them of representing the true interest of the people of Edo South, he said what makes this so good is that a penny has not been given out to get this special endorsement of the 13 political parties.

Other parties that joined the endorsement includes ANP, NDLP, MPN, NAC, BNPP, JMPP, PPP, SPN, HDP, ID, AGA, UPP and Accord Party.

What was supposed to be a federal government empowerment program organized by the senator representing Edo South senatorial district , Pharmacist Matthew Urhoghide ended up in chaos as participants took to protest in Benin City, the state capital

The irate youths equally held the acting director general, National Institute For Hospitality and Tourism ( NIHOTOUR) Kabiru Momoh hostage for hours

They accused Urhoghide of deceiving them to believe they would be given starter packs at the end of the seven day training program for over 550 graduates from Edo South tagged sensitization skill gap empowerment


All efforts by the embattled director general to calm the nerves of the angry youths by promising to personally ensure the senator make available the public funds fell on deaf ears


Spoke person for the youths, Okhalume Henry said their anger was predicated on the facts that they are all aware that such programs are financed by the federal government

"Urhoghide is using us to trade, he cannot use us to trade . We are very angry because he promised us empowerment. Now having trained us there is no empowerment . We are all aware that constituency projects are being financed by the federal government"

Said one of the participants, Comrade Tom Akhabue, " We were deceived to believed this is empowerment program. They brought us to be insulted, it is political strategies to further demoralized us, they will never get our votes

Earlier in his speech, senator Urhoghide said the training program, 4th in the series was targeted at improving the wealth, metal and capacity of the youths to succeed in life

This is also to recall that the said senator who claimed to be having this as the 4th series has never empowered any individual from the well funded federal government empowerment scheme.

He urged them to vote him for a second term so as to enable him continue the program and reach out to a greater number of persons

*Edo residents hail Obaseki for ongoing reconstruction of 140 roads*

With the mobilisation of contractors to reconstruct over 140 roads across the state, residents of Edo State have applauded Governor Godwin Obaseki’s resolve to bridge the infrastructure gap in the state, noting that the development would immensely impact their lives and businesses.

The reconstruction of the roads is a measure by the Governor Obaseki-led government to put the roads in good shape, while work advances on new roads.

A cross-section of residents across the state, who spoke to journalists at the weekend, hailed the governor for rehabilitation of the roads, as the decision to work on the roads in the dry season will ensure that they are durable.

A resident in Mosheshe Street in Ugbekun area of Benin City, Mr. Austin Iserenren, said “the gesture by Governor Obaseki has brought relief to us who reside here. We have endured hardship for quite some time. Before this project was awarded for reconstruction, we struggled to get out of our neighbourhood, especially during raining season.

“I commend Governor Obaseki for this step. I am truly surprised that the reconstruction of the road has come to fruition. When officials of the state government were here not long ago to do assessment of the road, I said this was another stunt by the state government because we have seen similar things in the past and nothing came out of them,” he added.

A resident in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government, Mrs. Grace Omo, said the reconstruction of roads in the area will open the area up for development, noting, “It will be easier for people to commute and carry out their business. We appreciate the governor for his good intentions for us. Before now, during rainy season, the roads were terrible and difficult to pass through.”

The re-construction works are ongoing on Jemila Street/Ohovbe Road in Ikpoba Hill, and Lawani Junction by Urubi Street, Sokponba Road, Aburime Street and Delta Crescent off Ikpokpan.

Others are Boundary Road and Commercial Avenue, as well as Ogbelaka, Yoruba Street and Dumez Road, Ugbor-Amagba Road, as well as roads in  Government Reservation Area (GRA) in Benin City.

Work is also ongoing on Mousco - Ukpenu Road, Ekpoma; Irrua - Uromi Road; Secretarial Road, Igueben; Union Bank Road, Igueben and Uwenlebo Road, Ekpoma, in Edo Central.

Edo South senatorial hopeful Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon yesterday paid a visit to Ovia South West a local government under Edo south, he was given a warm welcome by party faithfuls.

Obahiagbon who was reassured by the people of Ovia South West to bring block votes also thanked the party leaders in the local government.
