I was with a staff who works in a law court in Rivers State yesterday, she told me that she was issued a promotion letter of level 10 (She was in grade level 7, Employed with SSCE certificate) which she photocopied and submitted a copy to their admin officer as they were directed to do.
She told me categorically that the new salary was neither paid to her nor any other staff in her place of work in June salary. However, that they are hopeful it would reflect in their july salary.

I posted here some thread ago that there has to be volunteers to take up this fight and the earlier the better. We must create a forum somewhere to concretise our plans. We need to fight to put this teachers oppression to an end once and for all

How many new teachers have contested for any elective position in NUT either at the LGA or State level? How many new teachers have supported and voted for any new teachers for any elective position in NUT either at LGA or State level? We have the majority to decide a new leadership in NUT at both LGA and State level but still end up subscribing to the leadership of the old teachers who are looking for means to amass wealth for their retirement from service.

Wike gave the directive to the State Civil Service Commission during the Workers Day celebration in Port Harcourt.

He assured that the entire promotion exercise of other categories would be completed before the expiration of his tenure.[font=Lucida Sans Unicode][/font]

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Tammy Danagogo, Wike, while commending civil servants, told them to work towards protecting and advancing the social economic interest of the state.

He said that he has approved the promotion of over 4,000 eligible civil servants to their appropriate grade levels.

Wike, however, appealed for patience and understanding, assuring that his administration will clear all the challenges facing the Civil service in terms of pension and gratuities, among others.

Speaking at the event, the National President of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Engr. Festus Osifo, commended workers for their hard work in the state.

It is not only education sector. Virtually every sector is dead in Rivers state because the Governor is running the state as one man show with no spelt out policy direction.
Rivers state has not had it so bad. Unfortunately, majority will vote his stooge again and our suffering will continue and will become more severe.
Good governance is anchored on human capital development not the other way round.
