Now how do we explain this. I consider this a retrogressive step. How can you leave the entire South America and come to Africa to ply your trade. Nigeria for that matter. What happened to Europe. I mean that is where footballers run to.
With this your mentally you will hardly succeed in this life.

Sad tale of Ette community...

According to folklore, the land they currently occupy belongs to Enugu-Ezike who welcomed them from as strangers and allowed they stay and live their lives up till this time...

But for the dearth of infrastructure there, that's just politics for you. I hope a leader emerges in Enugu state that will also see them as part of the state...

Buhari will go down in history as one of the worst and inept leaders that emanated from Africa...

His leadership or gerontocracy style is laced with nepotism and cronyism which is worst than the fascist regime of king Leopold on Congo.

He doesn't know the amount of bad blood he is building up for the once respected Fulani tribe, reality will dawn on that tribe when this misfit leaves the corridor of power!

Foundation for Gate House and airport entry and exit roads ongoing!

Obiano is undoubtedly one of the best governors in Nigeria today! Even the states with huge allocations in Nigeria or even so called federal government airports do not construct projects of such world class quality!
I love the fact that IDC is handling that aspect.

ChimaAdeoye:
Gov. Wille Obiano is truly a magician!!! How did he get the money for such world class project?
Obiano is finally bequeathing Anambra with one the best airports in West Africa!

Everything from the access roads, Main Airport gate, runway, taxiway, car parks, fire stations, Emergency medical clinics, 2 level terminal building, Water supply station, mini power station was well thought out!!! With more space for future expansion and development!

The official airport January 2021 Status Update video released by the state government! O'lboy, this is indeed a massive project. Everything is done at the best international standard!!!

Anambra finally has a true international airport to facilitate trade and commerce without depending on the whims and caprices of others!
I am hoping the begin planting trees, flowers and grass now around areas that no further construction is needed. Also they need beautiful trees and flowers along the main airport road all the way to the parking lots to give it the best ambiance possible!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35J7qG77Vzc
Wow! I am dumbfounded with this video, Obiano with this has cleared all doubt about the inauguration of the airport in April, and with the quality and pace of work being carried I can't but say this will be one of the best airports from Africa... Cairo, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa airports should get ready because a serious rival and contenders beckons.

They should not joke with landscaping and overall aesthetics of this noble project to give it that ambience of an international look.

It's obvious the eponym of the airport will bear Willie Obiano.

Even with the pace of work at the ICC I can't but say the successor of Obiano will have to bulge their feet because the shoe this great man will be leaving behind will be to big to fit in perfectly.

ChimaAdeoye:
No, just a picture of markets in Nigeria that i saw online. My point is that we should try and improve our standard a little in Nigeria.
Instead of building the same substandard things over and over. I posted that picture because for the first time, i saw a Nigerian market making space for parking lot and setting space aside for banks, restaurants and other entertainment to come and develop that section. Although the scale was small, but we have to stop building markets like a bunch of lockup shops lined up without any space for facilities, relaxation or even parking.
Exactly, we should always aim for the best when we set out to do things...

ChimaAdeoye:
This is an excellent news!!!

Since Onitsha main market was built in the 1950s no new market of that size had ever been built again in Anambra. So, this is a very welcome development if they make it to be truly modern in design and construction....not just adding the word "ultra modern" to it.

My plea is that they apply good modern design so that the final product will be both aesthetically appealing, conducive for business as well as tourism. The design in the picture below is so far the best open market design i have seen recently in Nigeria and it should be emulated and improved upon.
Are those pictures of the new Awka markets?

No subsidy or subvention from government to keep them afloat.

But the bane in this proliferation of private schools is the drop in the quality of education, nonchalant behavior of both parents and students and the greed to make quick money.

The government should try everything within its power to make sure public schools return to their past glories, oops! unfortunately, we are still in the administration that detest education.

Travel › United Nigerian Airline Starts Operation, Makes Enugu Its Operation Base by christejames(op): 9:45pm On Jan 21, 2021
Stakeholders in the aviation sector, as well as residents of South-East, on Wednesday, hailed the arrival of another airline at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

The United Nigeria Airline touched down at the Airport Wednesday afternoon, amidst jubilation by passengers and stakeholders.

DAILY POST gathered that this brings to 7, the number of airlines operating from the Airport.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the demonstration flight landed, the Manager, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Mrs. Cecilia Oguama said the development would boost activities within and outside the Airport.

She said, “we are glad for the increase of flight operations, increase of passengers too. It will affect our revenue positively because with this flight now, we have almost 7 domestic airlines.

“So, passengers will have more choice, they are starting with Lagos and Abuja and I know very soon, they will expand to other routes.

“My expectation is that they will bring excellency on board, they will bring timeliness on board and they will improve generally on the system.”

Also speaking, Mr. Victor Egbo, HOD Commercial, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, re-echoed the joy shared by the Airport Manager.

Egbo said, “This is a whole gamut of revenue source for us; overtime we had just about two airlines operating from Enugu. Just now today, having an additional airline, we have at least an additional 10 percent of our annual revenue, aeronautic revenue source.

“It is a very big thing for us. And also for Enugu and the people of the South-East, this comes with a general improvement on the economy.

“This airport will also be hosting this airline as its home base, we have not had anything like that in the recent past.”

A passenger, Mr. Jude Emenike said he was delighted that more airlines were now operating from Enugu.

“This is no longer a time we had no choice to make. I am happy that another airline has arrived at this Airport, especially as its base. It will in no small means boost not just the economy of the airport but Enugu State and beyond.

“It’s a good thing and we the passengers are happier for it,” he said with joy.

Another passenger, Miss Jane Obi told our correspondent that her expectation is that the airline should make a difference in the area of timeliness.

“Since Enugu is its operational base, I expect that timeliness should be their watchword. I am happy that we now have a variety of choices to make,” she noted.

Stop waiting for the government to get everything done for you. Some leaders in the community cannot bring their subjects together let alone motivating them to use shovels, hoes and cutlass to work on the Community roads as we used to do it in the olden days.

Rocksvibes234:
Trade and Commerce are integral parts of Ndigbo especially Ndi Anambra. Ndigbo survived the scourge of the Nigerian Civil War, developed their home states and other parts of the country where they live through trade and commerce.

Conscious of this therefore, Governor Willie Obiano's administration is taking giant steps in terms of policy articulation and partnership to develop a 21st century ultra modern market in the state.
you
The latest of this partnership is a 10 000 capacity Awka Capital Territory Ultra Modern Market Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area. The partnership is between the state government and JC Micheals Nigeria LTD.

During the site inspection yesterday, Governor Willie Obiano represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu expressed happiness that Ndi Anambra are gradually thinking home.

Governor Obiano said, "It is the duty of the government to provide enablers for investments to thrive and my administration is doing that. Our resolve in the security of lives and property is paying off hugely today".

"However, locating this market here is in line with Anambra Vision 2070 which is trying to diminish the culture of building markets on the streets or within the residential areas. This project will also open up this area and decongest the capital city which is already getting over populated".

In conclusion, Governor Obiano thanked Keystone Bank for coming through with the financing of the project.

arlier in his opening remark, the developer, Chief Jude Agbuzie thanked Governor Obiano for his visions in putting Anambra on the map of progress. According to him the Market will comprise 10 000 lock up shops; a hospital, fire service centre, entrepreneurship development Hub amongst others.

Chief Agbuzie assured that by second quarter of 2021, a total of four thousand six hundred lock up shops must have been completed and ready for use.

On his part Mr Anayo Nwosu who represented MD/CEO of Keystone Bank, Mr. Olaniran Olayinka said that the bank is ready to finance the project fully and thanked the state government for the opportunity as this is their first business since the creation of the state .

The Traditional Ruler of Isiagu , Igwe Austin Nwankwo, thanked the state government ,the developer and keystone bank for siting the project in their town and promised full support of his community Isiagu.

Hon. Uchenna Okafor Wiper, the Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Commerce while thanking Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts at decongesting the Awka city appealed to the developer to deliver the project in record time.

Dignitaries at the occasion include: Mr Primus Odili (Chief of Staff to the Governor), Arc. Micheal .M. Okonkwo (Commissioner for Housing), Ven. Barr. Amaechi Okwuosa (MD/CEO. Awka Capital Territory Development Authority). Emmanuel Ntomchukwu (Regional Head, South East Keystone Bank), Comrade Louis Nwankwo (PG Isiagu Community) among others.
If they can develop it the way it is on the prototype then it's a huge success...
