Of course you are right. Even Nigeria itself is too rich to be poor, our problem is the crop of leaders at the helm of affairs including you, Yeye Bello.

You are too arrogant and bereft of any modicum of idea to even lead a herd of cattle talk more of a complex state as Kogi.

O! my beautiful Kogi, why has thou been cursed with inept leaders?

Education › Re: UNN First Class Student Commits Suicide After Battling Mental Health by christejames(m): 12:41pm On May 14, 2019
UNN students and suicide. That school will always make you feel like you are punching below your weight even though your social life on campus is next to zero. You will see students looking haggard, always swotting on course materials or researching, and making reading rooms and libraries their place of abode just to make sure they attain that goal which they set for themselves (or perhaps the society set for them).

You will meet students who were the best in their secondary school days and have represented their schools or state in national competition struggling to continue with such standard in UNN cause there, they would be competing with other intelligentsias coupled with the societal pressure thereby leading to depression and then suicide.

I nearly slipped into that in that school but thank God I got back to my senses and said to myself that the outside world is vast for everyone to compete favourably, so I became carefree with my academic activities albeit serious with my studies. That's how I scaled through...

The counseling section and students affairs department of UNN need to wake up and face their duty which is the students squarely. It's not enough meeting the students only during orientation, special counseling session can still be organised for all students at least once a semester to interact with the students.

RIP to the young comrade.

Truely there is more to it than the ordinary eyes can see. Truely there is more to it than the ordinary eyes can see. The news broke out yesterday that 15yrs and 16yrs children from Imo and Abia states ,came first and second at the just concluded utme 2019.Do you remember that these two states were one before it was splitted. I am an nteach beneficiary of the federal government npower program posted at the famous govt college owerri. There is something I noticed about this school, when one comes and settles down as a teacher in this school, you are first given a time table, then something happens. Your superior subject teacher gives you a well detailed note in your subject, you must teach with it, that's their standards, after each class the prefect gives you a note to sign that you have covered your period . While going through the note to prepare for your class you will discover so many things that you may not know even as a professional in that field. Secondly ,these children at govt college proceed to an academy where they obtained tutorial before going home each day ,especially the exam class. These "academies " are scattered the length and brenth of owerri. Another thing I noticed is that, there are few private primary and secondary schools in owerri and the few you see are of very high standards and expensive. This could be the reason these states perform better in external exams.
You could be right... not just in Owerri, such centres are scattered all over the east, saw so many in Nsukka with good private schools.

I love the way the govt always look out for their public school in Enugu state, you hardly see students going to private schools there, if it's not gov, then mission or highly rated private schools. Though more still need to be done.

The school has indeed transformed, thanks to Prof Ahaneku, I hope more public schools are seeing this because a change can still be seen regardless of how meagre your resources are. It's high time our universities started looking like one and not like some glorified secondary schools.

NB: most of those pictures are from the school's official facebook page please give credit where due.

That's one of the problems with Nigerian institutions, the public ones are dotted with uncompleted projects, no wonder UNN is the institution with the highest number of abandoned structures in Nigeria. If I start naming the imposing structures in UNN that when completed will make her amongst the best on the continent this thread will not contain them...

Kudos to Prof Ahaneku of UNIZIK, he has truly transformed the school. As he bows out in matter of days I know his name has been engraved in the sand of time.

I can only see six floors and a pent house...

Nigeria follows the British way of calculating storey buildings which starts the first floor on the first deck on a building whereas the American way starts from the ground floor.

Politics › FG Commissions Centre For Basic Space Science Nsukka To Boast Space Researc. Pix by christejames(op): 11:08am On May 08, 2019
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has said that the federal government is set to boost investment in space science technology because of its tremendous benefit to the nation.
He made this known during the commissioning ceremony of the Astronomy Observatory Complex of the Centre for Basic Space Science, in Nsukka, Enugu State, at the weekend, saying the centre is keying into astronomy which will enhance the growth of gross domestic products (GDP) in areas such as medicine, manufacturing, education, agriculture and communication.
Onu pointed out that government’s decision to accord priority to space science development was to improve the quality of life of Nigerians, adding that space science technology will boost telemedicine, agriculture, and manufacturing etc.
He also called on the private sector to take adequate advantage of these products that are coming out from these research centres for commercialization, that would be market driven across the country, reiterating the tremendous importance of space science technology in the development of the economy, to ensure improvement of everyday life of an average Nigerian.

He explained that, through commercialization of research findings, new products and services would be created for consumption by the Nigerian public and the world at large.
Earlier in his welcome address, the director-general, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Prof. Seidu Mohammed, said the centre was established to build capacity that would address the developmental needs of the country in several areas.
Ad
He said the construction of the Observatory Complex started 15 years ago, and commended the present administration for seeing to its completion.
A statement by the ministry’s press officer, Henrietta Okokon said the acting director of the centre, Dr. Bonaventure Okere, earlier in his remarks, said that the vision of the Centre was to play strategic roles in the development of space science and technology as a driving force and engine of economic growth and as a major ingredient for human resource and infrastructural development.

RWANDA IMMIGRATION

we got to Rwanda immigration and everything is beautiful again, the man asked us about our agenda and we told him, he checked our passport and started gisting with us, asking us about Nigeria and how he loves Nigeria if not for the 'thieves" he used thieves ...then my friend told him there is thieves everywhere, the immigration guy said NO in his word " I might be exaggerating but I don't think you will find any thief in Rwanda, it's highly unlikely and one of the safest country in the world, enjoy your stay bye, next please"

then we left the immigration and went to buy MTN sim card, registered and bought 4gb, their network in rwanda is crap.. it's exactly like Uganda
but once you reach a certain height the network is better just like in Nigeria .. we saw beautiful girls with nice hip at the airport ( ojigbi jigbi i'm not promiscuous just love to admire beautiful girls ) grin grin grin
mehn Rwanda is boring shocked shocked I kon appreciate Uganda ...
Thanks for sharing your experience with us...

but like Oliver Twist, I won't mind having you share more experience you had in Rwanda most especially kigali.

Around last month when traveling to Dubai I used kenya airways I noticed something when we were going
1. The airplane we used from Lagos to Nairobi is like ojuelegba Bus, tight space, no entertainment like movie etc, for God sake we are on a 6 hours journey and no entertainment? ..

2. Then we switched to another Kenya airways connecting to Dubai, this airplane is beautiful everything is condusive, I enjoyed my flight from Nairobi to Dubai ( same kenya airways 3 hours 30 journey)

3. On our way back same kenya airways carried us from Dubai to Nairobi, different airplane from the last one beat, conducive all entertainment available

4. Then we connect to another Kenya airways from Nairobi to Lagos, this time around this airplane is worse than point number 1 ,no entertainment, we were packed like sardine..
The worst thing is that 20 mins before we landed AC of that plane stopped working and driver ( yes driver) refused to say anything

Immediately we landed everything turned to HELL, it was damn Hot that if we had stayed 5 more minutes inside that plane, we would have died

How come they treat us like that, why is Dubai that is just 5 hours journey from. Nairobi using good flight compare to Lagos to Nairobi
..we went to complain about our experience as soon as we landed to the Faan staff, and they were just looking at us like strangers

I have video proof of this
As in our own people was just looking at us like we were some kind of strangers

And I had to repost this now because one mode removed it from first page, only God knows why
Hilarious!

our govt will definitely pay deaf ear to such complaints
