Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by christhavemercy(f): 8:06am On Jul 17, 2023 |
I applied to York University since Dec 2022, the deadline was slated for April 2023 against fall 2023. I’ve not received a decision yet. Mailed the department and also admissions several times and I keep getting the same feedback of “it will be updated shortly” . I also checked their Reddit pages and students complain about their admin being sluggish. I’m really anxious and quiet surprised at this slow pace from the school. Anyone in similar situation? The course is MHRM |

UK refusal story I just got my second visa refusal from UKVI. The first one was refused with reason of ‘huge unexplainable’ amount (1,050,000) that showed in my statement. This is my house rent which came in and out (same day) of my statement. Ok.. lesson learnt, no lump sum. But this second refusal is shocking to me, see reason; “”You state that you are employed earning 444602.98 NGN per month (£815.7 @ exchange rate £1 = 489.269 NGN). I have carefully considered the documents you have provided in support of your application. You state you personally intend to spend 800000.00 NGN (£1,467.74) on your trip to the UK. I note that your proposed expenditure far exceeds your monthly disposable income. This degree of expenditure appears disproportionate to your economic circumstances, leading me to doubt your intentions in seeking to visit the UK for the limited period and purpose stated“” After noting that my husband will be sponsoring the entire trip and including his pay slip and statements which far exceeds my own by many multiples, he has a UK visa already. He’s livid because we both can’t understand this reason. I also included my payslip, salary account and savings account with above 3.7m (6 months, no lump sum deposited, opening bal 3.1m) Joor oo.. please house where did I go wrong in this application? I applied for 6 months visa for a 7 day stay (honeymoon). Is spending less than double of your net income a reason for refusal? I checked the Appendix V as the highlighted and it’s not showing anything like that. It’s like this UKVI personnel thinks Naira is as valuable as Pounds How much should have been appropriate? Also why wasn’t I refused the first time for that reason even though I stated that I would be spending 1.2m with the same salary. Kindly advise me for future sake (or learn from me), although I won’t be applying to UK for a long time for my personal sanity. 1 Like

I’m just seeing people going to pick up their passports and I’m still waiting 11 weeks after biometrics and 3 weeks after decision mail. I’ve sent paid mails and made paid calls. I’ve sent free mails to TSL and they are saying that they haven’t been advised on a decision. At this point I am fed up. House, would it be wise to seek legal action because I have to travel by the end of this month. I even had an exam that needed my passport earlier this week but I got it postponed. The delay will cost me a lot of money. WilsonBright935: |

I did my biometric on the 29th June. Received a refusal on 29th august because I had large amount deposit in my account. Does anyone know when I can pick up my passport? I want to travel elsewhere by the end of September and I need to arrange somethings. Advice me please. viqueta136: |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How Much Do Bankers Earn? by christhavemercy(f): 11:49am On Dec 20, 2017 |
Who is a Banker? Just because one works in a bank, it doesn't make him/her a banker. e.g. A Teller is not a banker, some Customer service staff are not bankers, outsourced Market facing personnel are not bankers. Except they are taking Banking certification courses and are looking forward to becoming fully absorbed into the bank as a permanent staff. A banker typically starts from the grade ET. Salary scale btwn 140k-280k Why do people bother about other people's salary sef? 1 Like |

If it's a step to your dream job like an internship that will give you the necessary experience to excel in your chosen field please take it. If it isn't, then it could block you from other options later because you won't be too free to search and won't be available for all interview invites. Quite frankly not all experience matter to employers it has to be necessary to your field. Good luck 2 Likes |

Lol.. Lemme advice the young folks who are just about to start their BSC in Soc and Anthropology. It is the most interesting and underrated course out there. It is difficult yet disrespected. If u know u will come back on Nairaland after 4yrs to ask what u should do with d course, kindly reject ur admission now. Just brave it and wait till next year to try again in a more Nigeria-acceptable course. If you've got maths skills please find your way to a fully fledged management course.. if u've got unique verbal skills find your way to profitable arts courses (emphasis on the word PROFITABLE cos a lot of them are crap too) If you decide to study soc and anth in Nigeria. . You are gonna come out and 1.travel out because you are privileged and God bless your mama and papa or 2. Be lucky enough to get into a job with requirement "any course" or 3. go back to do your msc in Sociology and try to chase a lecturing job (and compete with all ur classmates) or 4. Chase HR and try to compete with HR graduates (and a thousand other grads because HR seems to be free for all these days.. that's why it's quack infested) or 5.come out and hustle for military and paramilitary jobs (and compete with candidates who know big people) A course like Sociology has no place in Nigeria yet, social works maybe.. but Sociology. . Not yet. This applies to many many other course out there so take your time and find out your passion before you choose any course. Ask yourself.. will I enjoy the struggle after 4 yrs? #myopinion *drops mics and exists the thread* 1 Like |

If you truly were a fan of Adichie you would never say such words because she is the living breathing epitome of radical feminism. She would finish you for this your comment alone. Gosh. .
