Next2Bezee: Good Evening House! Thanks for all your hardwork
I am about to begin processing my app to Uni of Minnesota for a Masters in Accounting in Jan 2018 (currently in the process of renewing my international passport).
I completed my Bsc in accounting in Malaysia and got a 2.9/4. I want to know if I'll still be required to write any exams like GRE or Gmat before I'll be considered for admission (considering i completed my bsc outside Nigeria) ....thanks! YEA! write GMAT |

fysapop: Visa Approved this morning.... Hi everyone, I want to thank those that continue to support the movement and purpose of this thread. My Visa interview was for 6:30am this morning, I was feeling uneasy all through the night, I woke up around 4am, left my house by 4:55am, I was driving like a snail I didnt even want any stories. I finally got to the embassy like 5:35am, I paid for parking, about 5 guys just rushed me and started telling to arrange my document staple this and that make copy of my passport page that the rules have changed, but as a product of this thread I didn't even answer them, I was the 4th person to be interviewed, it was barely up to 5 mins sef, see my transcript below;
VO; Good morning, how are you Me; Good morning Sir, I am fine VO; Pass me your passport and 1-20 Why are you going to the US Me; I am going to the University of Connecticut for Masters in Business Analytics as Big data is the new wave in Africa and I want to be one of the forerunners of understanding data mining and how Business can (I cant even remember what I said..lol) VO; oh Uconn, that’s great. Where do you work? Me; Senior Consultant atXXXX (International Company) VO; Oh that’s a great Company, hope you enjoyed your time working there? Me; Yes I have..its being a great time, we have won a couple of employers satisfaction awards in the last few years. VO; oh really, they would never win that in the US, they are really tough u know ( I just knew my visa was approved from this point) ME; yes when some of them come to Nigeria, they always want to stay back. VO; how are you going to pay for your studies? Me; I got a loan from Prodigy finance and my brother is also sponsoring me VO; ok… I see you are a genuine student and I would be approving your visa. He returned my 1-20 and the collection ish Me; Thank you Sir.
The three guys that went before me were still talking to the VO. I just started singing praises all the way to my car, people were just congratulating because it was soo obvious I just got my visa approved. Congrats...Guess it is that time of the year already |

This forum sha! I don't think there has ever been any month devoid of fights. When would Nigerians learn! The annoying thing is that a lot of us on this forum are in diaspora and we have experienced different cultures. Each time i read ignorant and vain posts on this thread, i am utterly bewildered. Some are unnecessarily arrogant, and others type before they think. what baffles me all the time is whether, or not, there is need for all these grandiloquence. Well, based on logistics, anyone coming to University of North Texas this Fall should Hit me up. Make me sef give back small as my aunty, Lagosismyhome and my boss, GboyegaD don do for me . |

bigfrancis21: 4.02/5.0 will be around 3.45/4.00 after conversion, using WES conversion standards. Normally, admission from top US schools (like Harvard, Yale, UMD, etc.) are almost 100% sure tickets to getting your visa at the embassy, even without GRE. However, with average schools like the one you got admission from, you need to write the GRE to boost your chances of getting the visa, not just getting the visa but getting it once at first attempt. 3 months is just enough time to take the GRE and score at least 310 to 315. The more time spent studying for the GRE the higher your score. GRE, though SS3 level math and english, has its own tricks and you need time to study for it and understand its tricks. Also, your GRE score could help you get funding before or after you arrive the US, you never might know. So study hard for it, take it and do your best. Nothing comes easy in life.
There are other types of GA such as administrative GA (non-academic type) and for such ones you do not need GRE to get them, just related work experience and maybe the right network. If you do not get a GA before arriving, some people do get GAs after arriving in the US just before school starts but they often have to come in early to run around campus for the GA search. Abeg take every word wey my oga tell you seriously because i am a living testimony. My guy, try to write and ace your GRE. Bigfrancis baba, i go call you in few minutes. |

amanze15: duke energy and shell?! bros I say it again, it's a debatable fact but you become UNATTRACTIVE the moment you decide to continue with PhD with a hope of getting a job in the industry. About 49% of faculty in US institution of higher learning are foreign-born(a 2001 study) , so you have more chances of working in an institution of higher learning than getting a job in the industry.
they work in Universities across the country, its the easiest way to get employed if you are a PhD student.
I have taken 11 classes since I got to the states only 3 are Americans I couldn't agree more. |

Talliusceciro12: Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, First of all I would like to congratulate you all for your excellent work here and I am really glad that this thread exist because perusing through previous posts has been an eye opener for me. I am quite in a complicated situation and I really need your thoughts and suggestions. Am currently a final year student and in 2014 I applied for a tourist visa and I was denied. I filled my occupation then as a student in level 100. Now I have been accepted to study a distinguished program in the US with a 70 percent scholarship. It is an undergraduate level program. So please what do you think of my situation. Do I have a chance? Wouldn't that sound desperate? Thanks What "distinguished program?" what school? |
