BetaThings: Which one is Muslim-led? So we need a government headed by a Muslim to have muslim rights respected?
You guys are just consumed by intolerance. You are happy to live with alcoholics, armed robbers, kidnappers etc
But a muslim going peacefully to school in a dress that preserves her modesty causes you problems

BTW it is equally a mystery to some why
some help the needy, worship God, obey their parents, refuse to have extra-marital affairs or preserve themselves till they get married
Your comprehension skills must be very poor. Why are you attacking my post?
I said there is nothing wrong with the headscarf, they should make it match the school uniform. Where did you get the idea that i dont have any problems with kidnappers, arm robbers etc?
The rest of your post is nonsense. Dont quote me again if you don't have anything meaningful to say

maclatunji: He is a lecturer. His lectures that I have watched make sense. Sorry, can't watch your video at the moment.

Look at it this way, why has the Indian government not acted against this 'terrorist' you are trying to nail?
Indian government has already acted. His 'peace tv' is banned in India.

DerideGull: Why do most Nigerians navigate to nairaland and join issues over alleged rampant corruption witnessed among the so-called leaders in the jungle called Nigeria?

I am quite sure current leaders or leaderships in Nigeria are better than the management of nairaland forum. At least, the nepotisms and tribal bias jingoisms in Nigeria bring considerable amount of millions in dollars to the practitioners.

It was not long ago, a moderator that goes by moniker-OAM4J got into the issue of usages of word-Ibo for Igbo in texts to the chagrin of well-meaning Igbo chaps on nairaland forum. When certain Igbo chaps resorted to the use of Yari.ba in texts too, the issue was elevated to protracted academic and tribal exercises.

The charges and countercharges did not last long when one Dede1 scholarly and eruditely exposed the intellectual laziness of those who argued that Yari.ba or Y.ooba has not been extensively used in texts.

Even OAM4J has to swallow his\her ethnic bigoted pride by accepting the findings of Dede1 that Yari.ba or Y.ooba has, in fact, been used in texts and there was no iota of bigotry in the usage of the word.
As I write this complaint, it bothers me to find the usage of Ibo for Igbo is open session yet it is an infringement of nairaland’s idiotic rule to use Yari.ba or Y.ooba for Yoruba.

Folks, I want you all to judge why the same moderator, OAM4J who has been forced to accept there is no intent of tribally biased bigotry over the usage of Ibo for Igbo or Yari.ba or Yo.oba for Yoruba, would ban deridegull for the innocuous use of Yari.ba or Yo.oba on nairaland.

In fact, one and only convincing reason that comes to mind is that naiarland is allegedly owned by a Yari.ba and OAM4J could hail from the same ethnicity as the former.

I thought Nigeria sucks but nairaland is useless. How can the so-called youths of Nigeria ever repair the cracks on the foundation of the country when tribal bigotry takes center stage on a transient entity such as nairaland?
Nobody has bothered to address this complaint yet. You won't see amukinatu rushing to overide this ban by oam4whatever like he did when Ikenna banned bigoted posters for using ibo in deregatory manner.

Its been proven on this site that there's nothing wrong with yorøba, yaríba usage. But seun decided to censor these words but refused to do the same for ibo with his lame, stoopid excuse of broken urls.

I also noticed there's auto correction for 'ällah' too but none for others. Why all these preferencial treatments for Yorubas and muslims on this forum?

And what happened to my siggy?

gluv01: I like Muslims with their strict abiding laws...
If it were Christians, we wouldn't fight to protect our religion and please God. We all leave everything to God.

And I don't mean by carrying out threats or being overly physical, a more subtle approach will do.
Nice one @the post. They respect every religion
What has religion got to do with pagaent show? If your religion forbides that kind of stuff then don't come or watch. Or were you forced to? Don't spoil the show for others because of your religion. Not everybody believes in your religion you know.

deols: Why should a government that is supposed to be for the people deny the people what they want and need??

I have seen many more wearing the hijab because they love and want it.

Any serious and good government would not deny them the right.
Don't forget its a muslim lead Government.

@op there's nothing with it. They looked cute sha. Maybe they should make the headscarf match the school uniform.

Why anyone would want to wear that in this scorching sun is a mystery huh

CONTESTANTS at this year's Miss World beauty pageant will not wear bikinis in the parade in a bid to avoid causing offence in Muslim-majority Indonesia, organisers have confirmed.

The 137 women taking part in the September contest will swap bikinis for more conservative attire, such as traditional sarongs, for the beach fashion section.

The contest is being held on the resort island of Bali, where foreign tourists flock in their millions and the beaches are packed with women sunbathing in skimpy swimwear.

But Miss World Organisation chairwoman Julia Morley insisted that none of the pageant's contestants would wear a bikini.

Bikinis have long been a feature of the Miss World beauty pageant. Picture: AFP

"I don't want to upset or get anyone in a situation where we are being disrespectful," she said from London.

"We treasure respect for all the countries that take part in the pageant," she said, adding the outfits had not yet been finalised. Organisers are treading carefully after a number of music acts to recently visit Indonesia provoked controversy because of performers' outfits.

Last year pop sensation Lady Gaga was forced to cancel her concert in Indonesia after Muslim hardliners threatened to burn down the venue and criticised her for only wearing"a bra and panties".

Singer Beyonce and band The Pussycat Dolls were also asked to cover up before performing in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country.

The upcoming Miss World pageant, to be held in Bali and Bogor just outside Jakarta, has already stirred anger with the country's top Muslim clerical body, the Indonesian Ulema Council, which has called for its cancellation.

CultureSame Sex Marriage Ban: Does It Affect Igbo Culture? by ChristKid1(op): 11:07pm On May 31, 2013
Anti gay law was recently passed in Nigeria prohibiting same sex marriage or Any public display of homosexuality with up to 10 years imprisonment for any one caught in the act.

In Igbo land and other neighboring tribes, marriage between 2 women are allowed in special cases. In a situation where a woman is unable to bear children, she's traditionally allowed to marry another younger woman who bears children for the family after insemination by a carefully selected man.

Woman-woman marriage in igbo land is not like lesbianism where sexual relations are exchanged. Though the practice of this kind of marriage is in it's minority nevertheless it's still practiced.

So with the advent of this anti gay law, what happens to this century old practice?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Should A Muslim Woman Leave Her Muslim Husband, Because Of Christianity? by ChristKid1: 11:14am On May 28, 2013
Orikinla: Why should a Muslim Woman leave her Muslim Husband, because she has converted to Christianity? She was a Muslim from a Muslim family and married a Muslim guy from a Muslim family. Both of them were young and good looking graduates of universities in the south west and I looked forward to seeing their children. Then he told me recently that she converted to Christianity and moved out of her matrimonial home even though he allowed her to practice her new faith in peace. Is this right? Should religion be used as an excuse to cheat on your spouse or a ploy to end your marriage? Our Lord Jesus Christ never commanded us to leave our spouse, because he or she did not believe with us. I am addressing this important matter, because many women have been abusing and misusing their conversion to Christianity to cheat on their boyfriends and husbands and rush to quote "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" out of context without knowing what the instruction was addressing.
In What context was 'Do not be equally yoked with unbelievers' addressing? Please educate me. Don't forget muslim women are also forbidden to marry non muslims. Just that the bible verse applies to both men and women

An opinion I agree with.

Arrow of God is denser with detail than Things Fall Apart, with a good deal more technical discussion of the rituals and concepts underlying Igbo religious customs and with a larger and more fleshed-out cast of characters. It is also a far more interesting read IMO.
TFA sold millions of copies, translated in over 50 languages and in many schools all over the world. For me it is. smiley
