Politics › Re: Oil-rich Nigeria Is Ready To Implode. There's One Way To Stop It- Financial Post by Chrisx1x(m): 9:26am On Jun 07, 2016 |
gateleo: My father bought a 2015 Toyota Corolla for me as my birthday gift. But my elder brother took the car keys and he has been driving my car round town for many days to carry his friends and his girlfriend, and he doesn't allow me to drive my own car. I got angry and fed up of it all. I took a mental rod to smashed the windscreen of my car, poured gasoline on my car and i set fire on it. I destroyed the car beyond repair because i was angry so my elder brother could no longer drive my car anymore. Few Minutes after i destroyed my car, i realized i have taken the wrong decision. I should have simply and rightfully collected the car key from my elder brother because the car belongs to me. I regret my actions. I wish i could turn back the hands of time. This brings me to my topic.
DESTROYING MY OWN PROPERTY IN THE NAME OF ANGER.
"ANGER" is one letter short of "DANGER". This is what the Niger Delta Avenger (NDA) do not know. They destroy their own properties, aquatic lives and lands in other to stop federal government from having access to oil, instead of taking total control of the oil facilities and manage it. With due respect i would say they are most foolish.
The Libya militants never destroy pipelines and refineries in Libya. They took control of the pipelines and refineries, sell the products to raise funds for themselves and those they fight for. They are wise to know that destroying their pipelines and refineries would result to great loss not only to the government but to them as well, and also cause environmental pollutant and health problems.
When you blow up pipelines and oil facilities, the toxic burning out from the flames is poisonous to cause health problems like cancers and other ailment in the body as people inhale the polluted atmosphere. When pipelines and oil facilities are destroyed, the spill destroy crops, farm lands, and aquatic lives. the few lands left for people to farm are being destroyed and the bush animals are being caught up in wide fires set by the NDA to destroy government properties.
The Niger Delta Avengers should have known better that they are doing more damages to the innocent people of Niger Delta than the Federal government.
If they had taken control of these oil facilities and were selling the oils to buyers, i would have been more glad and support their quest. But they acted foolishly like a man destroying his own car to prevent his brother from driving his car, instead of just collecting the car keys.
With due respect, Rethink Niger Delta Avengers and stop this act of wickedness.
God bless Nigeria. athough you made a reasonable point there,i think seizing pipelines won't be that easy as it will only amount to a declaration of war.lives would be lost if such happens |

Politics › FG Rules Out Military Action Against Rampaging Fulani Herdsmen by Chrisx1x(op): 10:26am On Jun 06, 2016 |
…Mulls privatisation of Prisons By Omeiza Ajayi ABUJA – Despite the ferocious wave of attacks on indigenous communities by rampaging herdsmen in some parts of the country, the Federal Government has ruled out the possibility of deploying military option to quell such violent activities. It said since the police have not been overwhelmed by the attackers, military option is not on the table. Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd) stated this on a Sunday midnight television programme “Question Time” on Channels TV. “We must protect the country which is the main function of the police. The Civil Defence are there to complement them too. “This is a non-military issue that borders on law and order. It is not every security issue that you call in the military. It is the responsibility of the police to maintain peace. I believe that if we put the police in proper position in terms of discharging its functions, then there would be no need for military option. The police are equal to the task. If you have to deploy the army, then you are going above board (sic). In any case, I do not even have the power to deploy the military for anything. It is only when the situation gets out of hand that you invite the military”, he said. According to the Global Terrorism Index 2015 report, “Fulani militants” killed 1,229 people in 2014 — up from 63 in 2013 — making them the “fourth most deadly terrorist group” globally. Privatization of Prisons, an option Dambazau also hinted the possibility of privatizing Nigerian Prisons, saying the only challenge with the proposal is that most prison inmates are not serving their sentences but awaiting trial. “Privatization is an option. How we go about doing that is another thing. Outside the country, for instance in the United Kingdom UK, they rely on ‘Prisons Labour’ to do that and it is from prisons labour they do that to recoup their investment. “Here, 70 per cent of our inmates are awaiting trial and by international law, you cannot engage inmates who are awaiting trial in such labour, but it is still something that we can sit down with those who are interested”, he said. ‘FG not spending N14, 000 prisoners’ The minister however dismissed reports that government was spending N14, 000 to feed each prisoner on a daily basis, but said Nigeria currently spends about N10.6 billion feeding over 65, 000 prisoners yearly. “It is not sustainable given that we have about 65, 000 to 70,000 prisoners. If you have 65, 000 prisoners, the feeding that was approved by former President Jonathan, you raised the feeding to N450 per day including gas; if you multiply it by 65, 000 prisoners in 365 days, you get roughly N10.6 billion. That was what we met and there was no budgetary provision for that. This was why we said there was need to look into prisons farms so that prisons can feed themselves”, he stated source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/%e2%80%8efg-rules-out-military-action-against-rampaging-herdsmen/ |

Olutola88: OKOCHA is good but overhyped.
It's easier to play very well when playing for fun. Okocha was never a serious player and couldn't deliver when the stages were hot. Maybe I shud say he was laid-back, visionless or not a go getter.
Look at what Yahaya Toure a less talented footballer achieved with focus, vision, diligence and enthusiasm.
My adorable Mikel's story is similar, very talented but Lazy. Gifted but contended with mediocrity.
If Talent sleeps, Hard work will outshine Talent i wanted to attack you but as i read further i saw the reasonable point you were trying to make.Players like messi and CR are world best because of the combination of talent and hardwork they put in.while messi is more talented,Ronaldo is more of a workaholic who is determined to be above messi.okocha was never a serious minded player.he always go to small clubs where he would be regarded as the star player and highest paid.he plays to entertain and not neccesarily to win.he was also after money and not after name but no one can deny the fact that he is and was talented. |

TonyeBarcanista: Dear Seun,
The unfortunate development in parts of Niger Delta region that has seen the irresponsible destruction of public and private facilities by a misguided group claiming to be Niger Delta Avengers has seen a few people calling for a modification of your infamous Rule 9. Specifically, promoters of this call have been asking you to censor anything related to NDA and their self resolve for a sovereign state, just like you did the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) and their secession demand.
Though a Niger Deltan and an advocate of Niger Delta emancipation, I join many others from the Niger Delta and across Nigeria to condemn the economic terrorism and carnage perpetrated by the faceless NDA. I've never believed in self-destructive and suicidal ways to address a problem.
I believe it is also appropriate to state my position on the censor call. A position I believe is human, legitimate, and appropriate.
1. Recall that about few days after you enacted the 'infamous' Rule 9, I stated in my disagreement thread that.. . It will be more appropriate for the moderators to take down content by agitators of Biafra that promotes hate, violence and support arson. However, they deserve the right to be expressive( as long as they express themselves in a civil manner).
I still stand by the position that you instruct your moderators to take down content, posts, tweets and comments including from popular news outlet that promotes the violent act and economic terrorism of the NDA. ****
2. Nairaland is a platform that offer everyone the chance to air their views on issues and contribute to National development. The issue of the Niger Delta, like other agitation should not be swept away like a non issue. I believe Nairaland should offer political discussants the platform to discuss these issues and see how a consensus can be achieved to attain development and peace in our country.
We owe our dear country and humanity a great responsibility as a group and as individuals. Posterity shall never be kind to us if we abuse the privilege and opportunity that the Almighty has bestowed upon us.
God Bless You God Bless Us All God Bless Nigeria poor and unconvincing analysis. |

grayht: I beieve most of these insecticides are organophosphate nerve poisons. The nerve poison often inhibits cholinesterase ,an enzyme that breaks down acetyl choline (ACh), a neurotransmitter. With extra ACh in the nervous system, the cockroach has muscular spasmswhich often result in the cockroach flipping on its back. Without muscular coordinationthe cockroach cannot right itself and eventually dies in its upside down- position...
