You see! This is why I dont like eating women's food and if I must eat it,you either prepare it in my front,in my house or we eat it together(if u made it in my absence n u must eat like 3 spoons/morsels while I watch you before I taste it). You're lucky though. You gotta be careful next time. |

I'm an african man & if my wife kneels down to apologise o me in public,it will only make me respect n appreciate her more. If she doesn't,I wont kill her but.... A gal once knelt down in front off me to apologise to me way back. She's an ibo gal. I had to quickly tell her apology had been accepted so she can stand up quickly. I felt a lil bit embarrassed but admired her courage to go dat length to correct her wrongs. I dont think it's a big deal, considering d fact dat I can kneel down in oshodi to propose to d woman I love. If I can do dat n she cant, then there would be silent issues. |

1920MaMa: oh, gud to know. so, chronique, na which part of Edo get this wicked tradition?I know of the binis & the ishans. |
dmcdad: Ohh! This happens in BeninFind out more info from elderly people who know the culture n tradition of the state very well. That's why most Edo women,no matter how bad their husbands are,and how many wives he marries, still stay put in their homes when they marry. I dont know how well this myth still works today though but I know it's something that used to happen way back(based on what I was told). |

Fhemmmy: Do you have pictures of the building and surrounding . . .Pls send someone to come & look @ it. I dont have the pictures. |
1920MaMa: you're so right! chronique, na you go start the protest.Hian Me protest what? Which day did they give birth to me? I should go & stand before the Oba of Benin & all the paramount rulers in Edo state & tell that my name is CHRONIQUE & I'm the only one that has gone to school.... Abeg, leave me where I dey o. |
dmcdad: Buh lets face it, thats balderdash... Or are you in support of sharia law? It's like condemnation. And only God has the power to condemn...The woman doesn't get killed o. It's just something that happens once she sleeps with a man that is not her husband/father of her child. It doesnt affect bf/gf stunts. It's not something that pple determine. It's been there for ages. |
1920MaMa: that's so unfair to the women! how can a man get away with cheating, while the woman gets such a big punishment? on the other hand, don't you think a scorned woman might intentionally cheat on her cheating husband just to have him killed, since the consequence of her act will be the death of her hubby and not herself? abeg make una change that tradition to include the men also. What punishment? Nobody fixes it. You can call it a myth or something but it works somehow. |
dmcdad: Na wa o. Una culture abi na tradition harsh oooIt's not just the man only. It's either the child falls seriously sick & dies or the man. I hear it can be averted if the woman confesses though. |
In response to the topic of your thread,I'm currently standing @ attention. Pls let me know when to stand @ ease.... To your topic: Just try to be loyal, respectful & honest to him. Try taking him out somewhere where you guys can talk comfortably after having lunch/dinner as the case may be. Lay your thoughts on the table, what you want from him & how he thinks you guys can build a formidable relationship. Let him know how much you want things to work(without sounding desperate). |
1920MaMa: you said where you come from it's forbidden for a wife to cheat on her hubby, that either her husband or kid might die as a result. so i ask, what happens to the man when he cheats on his wife? the consequence has to be balanced, don't you think?Well,I dont know how it's done & why it doesn't work for the male folks. It's just a cultural/traditional thing. |
