Jeferious:Sure. Prigozhin would get his reward but definitely not now. They have a war to fight and Putin does not want to demoralize his troops by taking actions right now. He still needs to use him in dealing with the west. Notice how the news of prigozhin and wagnerites going to Belarus, has made Poland and the Baltic states restless? Lithuania is now talking about how NATO must strengthen the entire eastern border. Poland is now looking for how to strengthen border with Belarus. Germany is sending 4000 additional fighters to Lithuania. The plan by the Poles to enter Ukraine is now off the table as they need their troops to protect themselves from the ruthless wagnerites. Ukraine too will need to divert some of her reserves towards the border with Belarus which will need them pulling troops from the south down to Kiev. Wagner in Belarus is meant to pin down forces from Poland and preventing them from entering Ukraine as they now have a problem they never had initially. When the war is over, prigozhin would answer for his rebellion. |
Landmine1:Think. They are in the middle of a war and they need a lot of diplomacy in handling this. It would have been a totally different scenario if the war in Ukraine is not happening right now. |
Real reason he obviously couldn't continue the March to Moscow. Destruction was waiting for him.

Cantonese:I don't know but let me try and explain it to you for the last time. Russia at the beginning of the conflict was having a special military operation in Ukraine. The Ukrainian army has long been defeated. What is happening now is a war with NATO in Ukraine. I don't know how best to explain it to you. This is my last response to you. You can choose to believe whatever you believe. The fact that you even believe Russia asked North Korea for infantry to fight Ukraine, is even laughable. |
Cantonese:Did you watch videos of ordinary civilians challenging the wagnerites on the streets of Rostovondon and asking why they were creating a mess instead of being at the front? Like I said, prigozhin had no chance. Russia has several regions and the heads of these regions clearly came out denouncing prigozhin. Some of them immediately shut down Wagner recruitment centers in their region and started pulling down Wagner banners. Secondly, Wagner headquarters was sealed off by the FSB after a search was conducted there. Thirdly, the Rostovondon region wasn't even completely occupied by the wagnerites. They were basically at the city center where the southern military district of the army is situated. With 25k men, yes he could ruffle a few feathers and create distraction but not enough to take over Russia. The highest thing that would have happened is a shootout that would have caused a lot destruction to the city center. Lukashenko got involved so as to help diffuse the situation and prevent it from escalating, knowing fully well that a war at rear while in the middle of a major war with the west, would have negative consequences for Russia. Besides, he has known prigozhin for more than 20 years on a personal level and knowing fully well that prigozhin has actually done some good for Russia with the Wagner group, it was only right that they find a peaceful solution. Remember prigozhin used to be Putin's friend and the fact that Putin called his actions treason on national TV and said he had given the army directives on what to do, only meant one thing. The complete destruction of Wagner and prigozhin. It was in the interest of everyone that an agreement was reached. Russia would have boiled for some days or weeks but that would be the most that would happen. They have dealt with bigger challenges in the past with the chenchen Republic and still won. If they could win over a republic in the state that was revolting, is it a pmc of 50k soldiers that would be a problem? They were on their way to Moscow and did you see the deployment on standby waiting for them at Moscow? Russia didn't pick up development of drones early enough and the ones they have cost more to produce than the ones they get from Iran. It only makes sense to buy from Iran at a cheaper price than expend their resources on expensive drones. Their expensive drones are majorly used for reconnaissance. They also have the lancet suicide drone that they use in destroying air defense systems and mlrs launchers and Co. Russia has never demanded infantry from North Korea. North Korea officially announced their intention to send troops to Russia to gain combat experience which Russia rejected as it would make North Korea a part of the conflict officially which would also give legal grounds for the EU to deploy their own armies in Ukraine which would in turn, escalate to a world War. When Ukraine had nuclear weapons, they were not in charge of the controls to launch them. That's why it was easy for them to give it up. |
Cantonese:I thought as much that you are not very clear on the operation. Do you know the reason why Putin chose to use pmc in Ukraine? Firstly, Russian laws have a lot of bureaucratic approach to things and that's why the war in Ukraine is not called a war but a special military operation which requires minimal use of state forces. This is the reason why a lot of Russian soldiers are not partaking in the conflict despite having an active force of over 800k soldiers and more than 2m reserves. To use more of the forces, the state would have to transition into a CTO(counter terrorism operation) which would have its own limited use of force too but more powers than when under the SMO. If Russia decides to transition into a full scale war, then they would need to use every weapon and forces available. Transitioning into a full scale war would mean that the economy of the country would also transition into wartime economy. Putin didn't want that to happen as it would reduce the growth of the economy as reserves who are serving in various sectors of the economy, would have to be drafted to the war front. That's why he chose to use the option of private military contractors which doesn't affect the smooth running of the economy. Prior to now, Wagner had roughly about 7k fighters at the beginning. Russia encouraged Wagner by giving them weapons and everything they needed to recruit fighters. Prigozhin's actions in constantly challenging the defense headquarters led to them mandating all volunteers to sign a contract with the ministry of defense so they can be easily regulated but he clearly refused to sign. Not signing a contract automatically means you cannot be deployed to anywhere on the front and knowing he was going to remain redundant without that, is what led to this his rebellion. |
Cantonese:Yes. Chenchen Republic leader(kadyrov) had sent a convoy of troops to Rostovondon to counter the wagnerites and a bloodbath was about to occur. I was following the whole conflict from when it broke out in the morning with live feeds of videos of everything happening inside of Russia being posted on the channels I follow. Some of the Wagner commanders even abandoned prigozhin and clearly stated they would not go against the president. Some were told they were going for a visit to the southern military command and weren't even aware of prigozhin's intentions only to find out at the dying minute and withdrew their troops. He lost Wagner because he is going on exile forever in Belarus and cannot actively control the Wagner group while in exile as he would be under 24 hrs security watch. The wagnerites who were not part of yesterday's madness would be allowed to sign contracts with the ministry of defense. The ones who were a part of it would be pardoned and sent to new areas of responsibility. What would happen after that is still unclear but it's obvious that the Wagner group would be disbanded after this rebellion. They have committed treason against the state and cannot be allowed to function even if pardoned. Russia is not a banana republic that anything goes. |
Cantonese:I leave you to believe what you want. I don't have the strength for argument. Maybe you were following the events from CNN. What do you think would have happened after the arrival of the chenchen forces at Rostovondon that led to a mini shoot out and the wagnerites placing mines on the floor and asking civilians to move away? A bloodbath that would have shaken Russia was already about to begin. Prigozhin had no chance at all. Besides, he only had his men in the center of Rostovondon and some parts of votreck(didn't spell it right). How would he have taken over Moscow when other regions like Moscow, Petersburg, kransnodar, Crimea, Sevastopol, belogrod, kursk, Chechnya and the likes already publicly denounced him and offered their support to the Supreme commander? |
jaxxy:A lot of you are just clueless about this Ukraine war. At the beginning of the war, Ukraine was almost totally captured with just 120k troops. Russian forces were stationed just at the outskirts of Kiev. The peace talks in Instabul, required that Russia pulls her troop out of Ukraine and Ukraine signs a peace treaty that would see her completely neutral like Austria but can choose to be friends with whoever she pleases (Russia or the west). After Russia agreed to move her troops out of Kiev, the British put pressure on Ukraine not to sign the agreement and promised them more weapons and support from the west. The end result of that is now a loss of 4 regions and death of over 300k soldiers with hundreds of thousands wounded. If Ukraine didn't renege on the agreement, the war would have been over since early 2022. |
egoldman:I'm not sure you know what you are saying. Ahkmat forces from the Chechnya Republic under kadyrov had been deployed to Rostovondon to counter the wagnerites. What would have happened would have been a massive bloodbath that would have destroyed Rostovondon but completely eliminated the wagnerites. Don't also forget that several commanders with their armies turned back from following prigozhin and the wagnerites and clearly stated that they would not be supporting him against the state. At the end, prigozhin lost Wagner as he has to go on exile. His group would eventually be disbanded. |
egoldman:What territories did he seize ? Do you guys even understand what you read online? Do you know how large Russia is for an army of 50k to seize territories? 50k army can't even hold territories inside Ukraine that is smaller than Russia. |
AsianLoyalist1:He is already a fugitive and cannot live in Russia again. That's why lukashenko got a bargain for him to come to Belarus. In Belarus, he would be under security watch 24 hours a day. He can no longer actively command the wagnerites and I don't see the wagnerites lasting another one year before being disbanded. |
DaHrNn0001:At the appropriate time, prigozhin would be taken out. One thing is certain and that is the fact that he is an outcast and can never set his foot in Russia again. His command of the wagnerites also comes to an end. Dude lost completely. |
God1000:Ignorance is a thing. Wagner are currently not fighting on any of the fronts and Russia is doing very well. The wagnerites were pulled back from the front after the victory of bakhmut. There's no humiliation for Putin. The worst that would have happened is a civil war and it would have been equally surpressed. Only that it would have affected the front and cost them some losses. |
Badassniggga:I read it and laughed so hard. Too many retards on Nairaland. Russia only just recently increased their regular troops from 120k to around 300k in Ukraine and someone is saying Wagner has 300k troops reduced... Like, where do these people get their information from sef? |
7 years after, how have we fared? I hope the buharists here who called me names back then on this thread, are still alive o. I hope say hunger never kill una or give una ulcer. Imagine refusing to remove subsidy when dollar was 150 naira and fuel should have sold for max of 120 naira per litre, and now removing subsidy when dollar is 760 per naira and fuel is selling 500+ per litre... It is well though. |
