Tripitaka:
Have you dated a girl who is a product of incest?
Have you dated a girl whose brother raped the mother for ritual purposes?
Have you dated a girl who grew up to find out that her actual dad is the family driver, but the pregnancy was passed on to the "willing dad"?
Have you dated a girl whose own father has been sexually abusing?
Have you dated a girl whose mother's nude pictures are all over the internet because she was caught shoplifting?

I believe your answer would be "No", as you would have included these in your narrative.

The families in your narrative can hardly be classed as "troubled" as I would like to think that your experiences are the peculiarities of your average Nigerian family. The average Nigerian family where diabolism and fetishism is real; where cohabitation is in vogue because the government outlaws abortion and your parents would insist on you living with the man who impregnated you even if he has no interest in marrying you; where young widows are still oppressed by their late husband's relatives; where poverty and unemployment is the norm hence a 40yr old unemployed man is nothing out of the ordinary.

The women you have been with are not from troubled families, at least in my opinion. They are simply from Nigerian families.

You nailed it

Acidosis:
If you're single, you feed yourself and have a roof over your head, then you can marry. There are no special bills or taxes for married people. Your stomach and portion of food do not get bigger with marriage. Your electricity or water bill do not increase because you're married. Same electricity, same cable TV, same quantity of water, same rent, etc.

In fact, it is easier for two WORKING and sensible people because they're able to put resources together to achieve a better result. E.g. If you've being paying rent alone, you can share bills (not necessarily in equal proportions).

The only thing that makes a difference is pregnancy & child upkeep, and to the best of my knowledge, this is optional. After all, single men and women have more sex than married people, without fear of pregnancy.

To blame finance for being single is lack of SENSE and understanding. It is perpetual failure of the brain to think MARRIAGE between two people will drain finance faster than the single folks. It is like living alone to bear all cost Vs. living and sharing bills with a room mate.

Think.
My brother consumption rate increases when you get married, starting from water, food, light, even dirt in the house increase. I have seen a man doing well when he was single but the moment he got married come see poverty. I don't agree with you completely

18 months to finish 7.8km road is too long nah.... Let them be serious abeg

obibc:
Governor Ihedioha Takes Bold Step In Repositioning Imo; Flags Off Massive Road Construction, Reconstruction Of Dan Anyiam Staduim, Performs Ground breaking ceremony  Of Four Technical Collages

As part of activities marking the 100 days in office of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha as the Executive Governor of Imo State, the governor has done the flagging-off and ground breaking ceremony of a lot of developmental projects in the state.

ROADS

In keeping with his campaign promises to deliver quality road network across the state, the governor has flagged off massive road construction project in Imo State measuring 81km and valued at N23.4bn.

The roads involved which cut across the three zones of Orlu, Owerri and Okigwe, include:

●Ahiara-Okpala junction
●Nkume-Umuowa-Orlu
●Mgbidi–Oguta
●Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze
●Concord-Hotel –Jacob Zuma
●Imo State University Teaching Hospital-Orlu
●Imo State University –Bishop Court
●Aba Branch-Ahiara Junction
●Okigwe Roundabout–St. Mary Okigwe ●Asumpta–Umuguma Junction

●Douglas–Naze Junction
●Control – Umuguma roundabout
●Assumpta – PH road among others.

At the commencement of the flag off event, the governor said, “We are commencing the urban road rahibilatation across the state today. Few days ago I flagged off the RAMP Projects.  We have delibaretely choosen state roads while we have started discussion with the federal government on how we can rehabilitate the many bad federal roads in the state”.

At the Nkume-Umuowa-Orlu road, the Governor revealed that the 7km Road is being handled by an indegenous company, Solberg and the road is expected to be completed in 12 months. It will be recalled that this road was one of the reasons why Doctors at the teaching hospital were on strike prior to the take-off of the rebuild Imo government of Gov. Ihedioha.

The Control – Worldbank roundabout road project, a 7.2km dual carriage road will be handled by Zeerock Construction company and expected to be completed in 18 months, while the Assumpta – Ph road, a 10.7km also to be handled by Zerock has a completion time of 24 months. While speaking at the site of flag-off, the state Commissioner of Works, Engr. Benjamin Ekwueme noted that two substandard tunnels along the road built by the last administration will be demolished according to the recomendation of Nigeria Society of Engineers and a flyover will be constructed in its stead at the House of Assembly junction. The commissioner also revealed that the road will be ashphalted twice because of the heavy traffic expected on the road, and also assured that each of the roads have a lifespan of 15 – 20 years.

Also flagged off was the concord boulevard -PH road which is being handled by Coduc construction company, while the Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze road being handled by CHEC construction company is a 17.1km dual carriage road.

STADIUM

In line with the rebuild mantra of Gov. Ihedioha, the Dan Anyiam Stadiumand Grasshoper International handball stadium have been flagged off for rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The work which is expected to be completed in 90 days will see the complete replacement of the tartan tracks, the scoreboard, the flood lights, the football playing pitch, the 13,000 stadium sits among others with current world best facilities.

It will be recalled that the stadium has been completely dilapited for years now leading to the state football team, Heartland FC to be banished from playing in the stadium to the Okigwe stadium  by NPFL because of the very sorry state of the  sports facility.

With the rehabilition of these sports facilities, it is hoped that Imo State will return to its place of pride in the sports standing in the continent.

TECHNICAL SCHOOLS

The resuscitation of Technican and Vocational Education Training (TVET) is a prority of the Rebuild Imo Project of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha, with the strong belief  that the acquisition of critical technical and vocational skills by majority of the youths has the capacity to stimulate sustainable industrial development, job and wealth creation.

The governor has started the massive reconstruction and rehabilatation of the four technical schools in the state.

At the ground breaking ceremony for the reconstruction of Government Technical College, Okpro in Orlu, the governor reiterated his firm belief in the technical and vocational empowerment of the youths. The goverrnor who revealed that the contractor handling the project is  an indegene of the area and will make use of local manpower where needed during the work. To ensure quality delivery of the project, Gov. Ihedioha also announced that the services of a renowed consulant has also been engaged to ensure the roads are built to specifications. The governor also maintained that all the schools will be equipped according to international and world best standards.

The reconstruction work at Government Technical  School is being financed 100% by Zenith Bank plc as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Other technical schools in the state which has been flagged off for reconstruction are Government Technical College, Mbaise; Government Technical College, Mbano.

Education / Re: Disadvantages Of Staying In The School Hostel by chuberg(m): 9:11am On Feb 26, 2019
highfaculty:
Have you ever thought about the disadvantages of staying in the school hostel? School hostel may not be all fun if you only know about its disadvantages.

People are very quick to talk about the advantages of staying in the school hostel, what about the disadvantages of staying the school hostel, have you thought about it?

The coin has two sides. So also, staying in school hostels have two sides to it. When we talk about the advantages of the school hostel, we shouldn’t in any way neglect its disadvantages. Because where a student chooses to stay in school has a great role to play in its overall academic performers.

People come to the university because of its importance in life. You can check the reasons why you should go to university.

So many persons that stay in school hostel today actually don’t want to, but for some certain reason, they have to cope with the whole situation not minding the disadvantages.

No doubt, hostels provide you with security and a roof over your head, but the disadvantages of staying in the school hostel beat everything.

Here are some of the disadvantages of staying in the school hostel, take a look:

1) SNORERS AND STINKERS
Having to share a room with people that snore is as terrible as hell. Imaging sharing a room of 9 persons and 6 snores terribly at night, it’s just going to be like war film at night.

Also, imagine the ones that are so unkempt and refuses to do laundry. You will have to stay in such a state with little or nothing you can do.

No matter the awkward attitude of your roommates, you have got to cope with it.

2) SOMEONE WHO TURNS ON LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.
If you are someone that doesn’t like turning on the lights when you want to sleep, this will be a great challenge. You can be fast asleep and your roommate will just turn on the lights because he/she can’t sleep with light off.

There is always that one person that does not like the light turned on when they sleep which could also be you, vice versa.

3) YOU CAN’T CHOOSE YOUR ROOMMATE OR ROOM
In every hostel, there are some rooms that are better than some. For instance, some rooms have better ventilation than others.

You can prefer to stay in a room that has better ventilation or just close to the entrance of the hostel but you may not get such a hostel room because it’s the school that assigns that.

Also, you can’t choose your roommates. Before you come to the school hostel, you actually don’t even know the people you will meet in such a hostel. It’s such a big disadvantage especially when you are meant to cope with people than often irritates you.

4) BAD FRIENDS OR ROOMMATES
The friends we meet in the university has a great way it shapes our lives. As nice as going to class, coming from class and taking a nap, etc may sound, it’s not so easy a routine to follow.

You are going to meet people that will influence you. One of the closest influencers you will get to learn things from are your roommates.

The influences of roommates cannot be overemphasized.

Some persons learn to smoke Indian hem in the school hostel. Some girls get influenced by the flashy cars that come to pick up their roommates from the hostel and the gift they bring back.

Introduction to bad habits becomes a ritual for students to follow in the hostel. If you do not get into the regular hostel life with these habits, you are treated as an outcast.

So many influences come from your roommates when you stay in the school hostel.

5) POOR FACILITIES
This is just the dreadful part. The facilities are so poor and the authorities give little or no regard for its state.

The toilets and bathrooms are nothing to write about especially when more than one room share a single bathroom and toilets.

As a girl that stays in the school hostel, it’s not advisable to use the toilet facilities directly.

The state of the bathroom also is just nothing to write home about. Even down to your lockers and cupboards, it’s nothing compared to what you have when off campus.

6) PRIVACY
Just forget about privacy. You can’t get your own privacy or space in the school hostel, it’s not possible.

No matter the manner of privacy you want, from taking your bath to dressing up, there is just no privacy.

From keeping your things tidied but coming back to meet a mess.

The school hostel has no privacy!

7) NOISE
The noise in the school hostel can just make you have a headache continually if you are the type that doesn’t like noise at all.

It becomes more annoying when you are coming from class after a stressful day, only for you to meet too much noise that you can’t even relax.

cool RULES
Staying in the school hostel got so many rules. These are rules you must obey if you really want to stay in the school hostel.

Some of this hostel, you are restricted from cooking, bringing, ring boilers or even electric iron to the school hostel. There are rules as to when you should ensure to be in your hostel etc

Though it has a good rule that protects the smallish students from the bigger ones like the “no fighting” rule. I don’t think there is any school hostel around the world that supports fighting.

Nonetheless, the rules involved in staying in school hostel are just too much that it frustrates someone sometimes.

9) HYGIENE
This is a big problem. You can try to keep yourself and your space clean but you bunky or roommates may not do the same.

Even if you decide that the cleaning of the room is something you want to do, at some points, you will have issues with your roommates who will tell you, you have messed up their stuff by cleaning their space.

If you want better hygiene, don’t stay in the school hostel.

Sometimes, the biggest threat to your hygiene is bed bugs. You can read more about why you shouldn’t stay in the school hostel here.

She told me she was a single mother, and all the men that dated her before I came to her left her because of that,I promise I won't leave her for having a baby outside wedlock.

The relationship keep on growing and I told her about my AS genotype and I made it clear to her that nothing will make me marry AS lady because of sickle cell children palavar. she told me that she is genotype AA. We continue our relationship did introduction and fixed our wedding date, now a month and two weeks to our wedding we went for mandatory test in our church clinic behold she failed the genotype test it was AS, right there I told her I no dey do again, she rejected the result and claimed vehemently that she is AA. second day we did confirmatory test it was still the same thing.

Her parents called me and told me both of them were AA and there is no way their daughter can be AS gene. they later brought some previous test (fake) of her AA stuff. I was bullied by every one around to go ahead since it was just few weeks to the wedding that it was manipulations, though my spirit was not willing again but I was compelled by all to go ahead that the thing has change back to AA she also said so that it has changed back to original AA. We go ahead and marry sha. She took in immediately after nine month she gave birth to a baby boy which I named Ikechukwu though we are both Yoruba's but I love Igbo people so much because I grew up with many of them. After some months after birth, Ikechukwu begin some strange sickness we begin to take the boy in and outside hospitals, spending the little income I was getting I decided to do Genotype test for d boy my wife resist it but I went ahead behold it was SS(sickle cell)

immediately I show her the result she went on her knees begging me, I called her father and informed him about it he invites me to his place and he too was begging me that he was also AS and not AA as he claimed before; now every is begging me again that I should not break my marriage that is based on deception, I have done everything that will make her leave my house except violent she refused to go. Every one is bullying me and begging me again, now non of them have supported me in any way for the boy expensive treatment.

I know i am supposed to post this in the family section but i always get better response from the Romance section. I don't know whether any of you has been in a situation where an in-law comes for a short visit and finally settles in your home without any sign of leaving anytime soon.

My wife's elder sister who is single came to visit us in January but up till now she has not made any move to go and it's not as if we live in a big apartment so there is no much privacy. We got married in 2015 so our union is still young.

This kind of situation puts one in a dilemma because you just don't know what to say and you will be termed "a bad person". She lies on our matrimonial bed even in my presence.

Before now i never knew someone would feel comfortable staying with a younger sister in her matrimonial home. If it is as a result of accommodation problem or maybe you went to a distant location to do one or two things and you now spend sometime in your younger sister's home, that is understandable.

Please what advice do you have for me?

My dear brother ndewo, my advice to you is this...... take the bull by the horn, tell your wife to tell her sister to leave your house that you no longer feel comfortable again in your house. If she refuse, tell her by yourself to leave your house that your marriage is still at the primary stage that your still bonding. If you don't do this now, you risk your marriage crumbling and you don't want that. This is what the teach in the marriage course and is also written in the Bible...... The man shall leave his parents wife and be join to his wife, but here in Nigeria we keep disobeying that order.

You might find it difficult to do but you are saving your marriage. If you don't take the bold step now, she will help your wife to grow wings and before you know it both of you will be captains in one ship...

@POLITICSNGR

A former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu has made a rather startling revelation on Camera, admitting that when he was a member of the former ruling party, they 'used' to kill people during periods of crisis.

He admitted that while he was a member of PDP, he was aware that politicians eliminated their rivals and other
electorates so they can secure their victory during elections.

Kalu who was governor from 1999 to 2007, defected to APC in November 2016. He disclosed this while
addressing journalists in Abuja during the South-East APC caucus meeting in Abuja yesterday May 31st.

He said this while reacting to the peaceful APC congress that took place in the South East recently.
''In any democracy, there is always a quarell. In PDP, we used to kill people when we are doing all this
things(congress) which is not good. People used to die'' he said.
