SlyIg: You never can be too sure yet if the guy was a cultist. You are both wrong because the news above is totally false and nonsense reporting by Vanguard! The real truth is that it was only the groom that was shot dead by rampaging armed robbers in Enugu! Dude is a childhood friend of mine and I can authoritatively tell you the reporting is soo wrong. His case was simply a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time!, hell, they also shot and killed a policeman a another part of the same Trans-Ekulu abi him too na cultist?? He drove into the petrol station to buy fuel and noticing the station was under siege by armed robbers who had already shot and killed the manager and a pump attendant, he tried to reverse and the vehicle was sprayed with bullets, killing him and his passenger who was a friend that came to drop off gifts for the couple as the person was traveling the next day and wouldn't be able to attend the wedding... I am so ashamed of Vanguard and their mediocre reporting without simple investigation! This is an eye-eopener for me never to believe all the crap they put up as headlines in the papers... Here is a link to a better report by Sun news: http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=80617 Please Vanguard should kindly stop wishing death to the poor boys surviving wife and parents who's grieve knows no bounds as it is. I weep for Nigerian Media! |
bravolad: Some of the arguments here do not add up. Most have ought rightly derailed this thread. No two cars with different engine sizes, hp, turning circle, torque etc achieve the same speed. It sounds childish to suggest that an inline 4 2.4l engine at 158 hp of Camry would outclass a Peugeot 3.0l V6 at 207hp. At take off, the v6 gains speed faster than the i4. You need to understand that at top speed, the i4 will be unstable. Again, driving conditions are different. The fact that in a journey nobody overtook you does not necessarily mean that your car is faster. The other driver (s) may undoubtedly not be in a mood to match your speed. You have spoken rightly my brother. Proper and regular maintenance is key to survival of any machines....that is why airplanes of 30+ years are still flying because regular and proper maintenance are carried out. Same is applicable for vehicles, there are still 1950's automobiles active on the roads.... |
Nixon55: @OP.., I believe in one understanding his/her car needs before committing his/her money to buying one. I own a 2007 Camry Xle V6 that I bought two years and has been a joy to drive. In two years I have done basic servicing and changing of brake pads. I have changed the spark plugs and one ignition coil. I don't consider fuel economy while buying a car. If I can buy it then I can fuel it. The V6 might have a few parts that might be more expensive than the I4 and it's in order.Beautifully spoken... He who has ears...let him hear ![]() |
Anybody finished this back then? ![]()

AMvanquish: Nice Ride.. The items you ordered, were they delivered to you directly or did you do it with help from a 3rd party?3rd party... |
sonety2k: Lovely Ride .Thanks.. |
I think I am happy with these so far, maybe a change of Rims when these stock starts fading off. No CAI for me or struts lol. I rather channel the energy and funds in sourcing only genuine manufacturer recommended parts from the US which are not easily found in naija and they don't come very cheap either (such as 5w-30 full synthetic engine oil, OEM filters, Engine Coolant, original brakes, etc)but i get satisfied that my car runs optimally ![]()

Ok... so in the spirit of keeping the original idea of this thread alive, I will add my contribution and share with the good folks here ![]() My whip is a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE V6 which I actually got via a pre-order deal from a member here on nairaland auto section last year october--Vincent Fowler (V.A Autos) who by the way is one great and different Nigeria going by the professional & sincere way he handled the business... uptill today, i hv never met him physically... I am so loving and enjoying the smooth drive this car gives me because of the powerful 268HP V6 engine, coupled with the fact that it came with all the options toyota has available for the Camry (push-to-start, keyless entry doors, keyless boot access, everything powered, e.t.c)...everyone that gets inside simply says: your Camry is different ![]() So, i decided to do a little albeit subtle modifications and keep the car as close to stock as possible since i am honestly quite happy with the premium package as it were.. Here is the list: 1. E&G Classics 2-Piece Black Ice Fine Mesh Style Grille w/Mirror Stainless Steel Surrounds (Custom hand made grille from the finest, took 3 weeks from order date to be delivered) from------- From www.carid.com 2. Muth Heated Signal Mirror Conversion Kit w/Amber LED's------- www.jcwhitney.com 3. Morimoto XB35 35 Watt HID Conversion Kit with HD Relay Harness 5000K H11 bulbs -H11 Relay Harness---www.theretrofitsource.com 4. MTEC 2X Super White H11 Bulbs (Stock Wattage) for Fog lamps -------www.amazon.com 5. Eonon 8 Inch Digital Touch Screen Car DVD Player with Built-in GPS for Toyota Camry + Nigerian Map (removed the factory head-unit because I needed my Nigerian maps from my previous car to work)---www.ebay.com 6. 12x for 2007-2011 Toyota Camry White Lights LED Interior Package With Sunroof--Changed all interior courtesy lights, vanity mirror lights, boot and number plate lights to brighter, energy efficient and sexier white LEDS----www.ledpackages.com

Hi bro.... Just seeing your thread. I have a collection of over 1 terabyte of ps3 games which includes a healthy collection of the very best games of the past couple of years ranging from all the COD series to GOW, last of us, MK, Gand turismo, uncharted series, PES, FIFA e.t.c infact, too many to mention all of them of heart (over 60 games) Just get a hard drive and give me a call, I will gladly copy as many as you want, all free of charge. Cheers. |
Bossmd: Coolant is not like engine oil that is replaced at interval. Except there is a problem with your cooling system, no need to replace your coolant.True.. Actually, the coolant in the picture posted by Tumababa is the exact one that come in your car from factory ( Mine is the 2007 2GR-FE Engine) and is not due for replacement until 100K Miles because it is the Super long life coolant variant (its in your manual and on a sticker just on the lid of your hood when its open) after which you need to just drain and refill. My '07 XLE V6 is still under 90k and I plan to drain and refill b4 the 100k just to be on the safe side. Bought mine around $26 from Amazon and so I agree with tuma on the quoted price because it costs so much shipping those 5-quartz oil and coolant to Nigeria because of their dead weight!.. I will gladly pick it up if its the original at 5k in Nigeria without haggling! Some one said he got it for 7k here in Abuja. |
Jacksolo4me: Well the 2.4L I4 does it in bout 6.4sec (2012 SE 3.5 V6 in 5.7secs)Hmmmm, I doubt how the 2.4L I4 engine on the camry can have a faster 'stock time' with its 158 hp @ 6000 rpm compared to the V6's 268 HP! I have personally dusted a 2008 I4 LE on the highway, it never saw my back ![]() |
yungboss: "stock time" I meant to say, typography error.I totally agree with you! The 3.5L V6 engine on the 2007 XLE churns out a cool 268 hp @ 6200 rpm. Trust me, those engines are fast. I always get that 'throw back' feeling when i step on the gas maybe from a stop-light Its cool. |
Kossyne: Why do I find this very hard to swallow?. For you to make top 20 best selling album, your album must be a hot cake especially in the US. How many copies of this album have been sold?. A million, a hundred thousand, few thousands?..."A little misleading...it's No. 12 on the "World Music Charts". This doesn't mean it's the Top 12th selling album in the world. When Billboard say "World Music", they mean "International Music", which means non-western traditional music (e.g. afrobeat music, etc), not a chart for all the albums in the world. Basically, it's a chart exclusively for non-western music albums" There you go! this will help you wrap it off your head and believe me, you aint being jealous but rather reasonable.. People post a lot of junk on nairaland! |
Jacksolo4me: Thats simple enough sir, Your 18's would probably make or break your car...here's a pic that'l help your choice sir.Thats my Grille! Original E&G classics!....Very cool ![]() |
Absolutely agree with your fantastic list here... However, I would also add: Metal Gear Solid 4. (the game that brought out the prowess of the PS3 Cell broadband engine CPU) Uncharted 3 and Heavy rain which was a very unique and different approach to gaming. Happy gaming! |
anneki: I have a spare set if you are interested. They are Akebono CeramicsAkebono are very reliable... go for it |
Jacksolo4me: m new and have been following nairaland for a while(I love the website and all nairaland era including trolls!!!)...Been out of the country n every Opportunity I had, I visited any n every car show I could..I wish Nigerians could have a go at the Modified/Import/Tuned car scene by having Proper Aftermarket Fabricators Bodykit and engine tuning(Hopefully we would get there).Lovely job... will be posting mine sometimes later ![]() |
