Academicians are academicians, what do you mean by 1000 local academicians? The igbos tout themselves as the enterpreneurial ethnic group in Nigeria, but we know who is on Forbes list and who is a 'local businessman', does that take anything away from their industriousness?

You can dispute the academicians part, but you're fine with the rest. Hail yourself sir
Hehehehehe! I guess u don't know that there are people who doesn't appear on Forbes but are worth more than some who are on the list.

There is nothing wrong with being ethnocentric.

Virtually every Nigerian is ethnocentric, accusing someone of being ethnocentric is not scandalous, it is fine, it is advised and it should be promoted. If the entire black race had all the confidence in their race, black people would not be bottom of the barrel.

An ethnocentrist is not a tribalist. Believing one's ethnicity is superior in certain climes, is not a crime.

It is common knowledge in Nigeria that the SE and SS produces the best athletes, the West produces academicians and the North, politicians. There is nothing wrong in saying these as facts, nobody is saying there aren't exceptions, but everybody knows their lane in this country, and we should not come here and suddenly act ignorant of the status to seem self-righteous

Forgiveness, you are the last person to be shouting about ethnocentrism because you and Omanbala hold the forte quite well for your ethnic groups on this thread.
I strongly disagree with you on the SW producing academicians. The likes of Chinua Achebe, Chike Obi, Philip Emeagwali, Chimamanda Adichie and co are internationally recognized academicians. Please get your facts right.

You may remember a certain Alaba that plays for Bayern Munich. He wanted to play for Nigeria but was asked for Bribe before invitation and he then walked back to Germany.

I thought Alaba denied the rumor?

Rashford is bang average and insanely overrated by the English media. Look how much he is being paid for underperforming.

This "Uzoho is old" talk again..Mtcheew...
Even if Uzoho is 40, it doesn't change the fact that he started playing professional football less than 3 years ago, and hence was a rookie as at the time he made his SE debut..
Rookie indeed! Same Uzoho we all know or someone else?Same "rookie" Uzoho that got displaced by Akpaeyi at AFCON?
Perhaps rookie has a new definition! Shrugs!

Please dont get me wrong, I dont have any problems with Uzoho. To be honest he has improved tremendously thanks to his constant appearances for his club and healthy competition in the team and I like it. What I dont like is for someone to slate a young chap on the basis that he appeared nervous on his debut.

I dont see nothing special in Okoye, though his services were kinda OK. Dude was shaky throughout his stay between the sticks. Looks like someone still learning the basics. Uzoho made his debut at same age and scenario against a more quality team in Argentina of 2017, yet wasn't all nerves, instead he brought calmness to the backline and entire team, and, from the outset looked the real deal.
Please cut the boy some slack. You should also note that Uzoho is playing with football age and could be 30 when he actually made his debut.

He is a real 20 year old making his international debut against Brazil so i won't be surprised if he appeared nervous. He will grow in confidence when he starts getting playing time.

Same Uzoho that has been shaky for long.

I will say it once again, we have a good Centre Back in Ajayi and his partnership with Ekong looks more assuring than that of Omeruo and Ekong.
Unpopular opinion but u are 100% ccorrect and I agree aabsolutely.
He has been producing good performances for his club aswell.

I think age is catching up on Omeruo thus making him play sluggishly.

Do you know how many times the housemates in the house had to perform to win prizes? You think they just have sex all day?

They had to come up with stage plays, Seyi does great voice over, Sir Dee and Frodd are good actors, Tacha did a make-up to age Venita, Joe drew the coat of arms in FIVE MINUTES using ketchup and other household items.Ike, Venita and Khaffi are experts in puzzles, they can solve any puzzle in minutes.

Last season, Alex won a Dano Milk challenge after she wrote and presented a poem for her mother, Tobi won a Heritage Bank Challenge after coming up with a Business Plan.

You don't watch the show, or you would not think something as mediocre as Maltina Dance All is better than BBN. I understand we all have our standards, but your level of information determines this standard.

The only thing MDA does, is promote family unity, and this is in the RARE instance that the entire family actually comes on the show, because half the time, it is neighbors and uncles filling up the numbers. You cannot finish watching something like So You Think You Can Dance and rate Maltina Dance All undecided
I have kept quiet about this bbn stuff but I think I have to chip in my opinion. To be honest, I a gree with u.

You cant condemn something when you dont have an indepth knowledge about it. For those who believe that programs like Maltina dance hall, Gulder Ultimate search are more educative, that's a PURE LIE!!! I have watched all those programs some years back and I can tell u that bbn is equally educative. It all depends on how u watch it. They have many presentations in the house that are really informative.

I dont sit around and watch the program all day,i'm too busy for that. I enjoy, the arena games, thursday presentations and stuffs like that. Unfortunately I couldn't watch it this year but I was forced to do so here on nairaland.

You are also correct about the program empowering some youths directly or indirectly as some have been able to achieve their dreams via the platform.

I think if our country is working in the right way, we shouldn't be discussing about bbn when we have pertinent issues to attend to. Other developed countries equally have reality TV shows and it hasn't in any way affected them in progressing as nations.

it is saddening if they allow this sentiments to go through
True that! Not surprised though cuz it has been that way for long. The hyping from their media is on another level. For me,they are not so talented as a country when it comes to football. They are just making the best out of their players thanks to their advanced techs as a first world country.

Fikayo Tomori: Why I Chose England Ahead Of Nigeria

The 21-year-old has been a revelation in the heart of Chelsea’s defence this season, and that has earned him a call-up to England’s national team, but he has now revealed it was not a given he was going to represent the Three Lions ahead of Nigeria and Canada

Tomori was also eligible to play for one of Canada or Nigeria, but he is set to feature for England after he was named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Speaking on why he decided to choose England ahead of Canada and Nigeria, Tomori said he would have represented either of those countries had they extended an invitation to him before England did.

In an interview with Goal where Soccernet.ng
got excerpts from, Tomori revealed it was not 100% sure he was going to play for England despite representing them at youth level.

“England is such a big nation, as well as Nigeria and Canada, so I think I was going to be happy with whoever called me up – but it’s nice it is England,” Tomori said.

“It wasn’t England all the way. I had certain people and certain things that I had to consider. I spoke to my family and people that I care about it and that’s the decision I came to. So, when England came calling, it was difficult to say no.

“It was just more of a thing I was waiting for a call-up because the last international break I didn’t get a call-up from anyone. This international break, I was waiting for a call-up and England called me up.

This Tomori kid is a drama king. Who does he think he wants to deceive. I think he wants to use that as an excuse should incase his English career doesn't go as planned. He should enjoy it while it last and leave us the heck alone.
