After all that has been explained by the guys that experienced what happened last year, some people re still waiting for Ptdf to secure admission for them. You all should better start seeking for admission now. Except maybe the school you want to apply to are requesting for admission fee.

From indications, most German Schools closed admissions since March 15th.

Hello guys, I am one of the successful candidates for uk phd last year and I will be here from time to time to answer you Qs.
For those wondering if PTDF will secure admission for you, NO they won't, you will be responsible for securing admissions yourselves for all the overseas scholars.
Secondly, I will advice for you guys to chill and get the award 1st then worry about getting admissions later, cause I assure you, admissions won't be a problem once you have sponsorship (I got mine in 4 weeks and its a phd in univ of Manchester).
Lastly, once you have the award, you are free to change university of choice so far as the university is among the ptdf approved ones (it doesn't have to be the one applied for while submitting ptdf application), for uk scholars at least, don't know of other countries.

That reminds me! Who else applied for the Global Management of Natural Resources program, Currently administered by the department of Chemical Engineering @ UCL as first choice? Still wonder how ptdf is going to administer the said program. A program which has 8 modules all together, however, one of the modules, Social licensing is currently been administered by the University of South Australia, in Adelaide! With chains of field trips, spanning up to Finland and Norway. Hope PTDF took note of the programs schedules before they listed it? Make somebody no go tanda for abroad oh!

There is no penalty for securing admission yourself from any of the listed universities, that even makes the journey shorter, as some University might have closed their portal by the time ptdf final list will be out. However, some grade A University like UCL, Imperial and so on will request for application fee amounting to £100 in some cases. In a nutshell, if you have the resources, go ahead and apply bro, especially, if your first choice program is a very competitive program.

They have finished the shortlisting. PTDF and flexisap are just trying to save face as the portal was wrongly opened ahead of schedule. Had it been that all applicants login in when the portal was opened for 24 hours then we would have all seen our statuses. As you submit your application, a software has automatically calculate your points as in: First degree, Olevel, awards and publications. Candidates with the highest marks from each state were picked and their profiles were viewed( uploads and SOP). If your points are too low for shortlisting by the software, nobody will check your application. You don't expect them to go through all the about 20k Msc and PhD applications. As someone Said, there is more to life than just Ptdf scholarship.

There is sense in this though. Imagine having to go through 27k SOP. It still boils down Grace

I used the normal old birth certificate and got my passport

It's maybe depends on d state where you're doing ur passport

When I was processing my international passport last year, I went with my normal old birth certificate but it was not accepted. Even affidavit did not work . They specifically asked me to bring the one from NPC. Since it worked for you, good for you. Others can still try with their own. What I posted above is based on my own experience and what the NPC staff told me.

I actually have an International Pass-Port, though its expiring by December this year (2019). Is there anything to be done about it? Somebody should advise please!

As much as I know, You can still use it this year. But when you get to UK, France or Germany if you make it, you will have apply for renewal through the Nigeria Embassy there.

Yes it won't be accepted. The only recognized birth certificate for processing international passport is the one you will get from NPC

Well the cost might be different in all the states. The NPC office in my local government in Delta State, they collected 7.5k from me

One other hurdle there is that one of the requirements to get international passport is Birth certificate. Not certificate from hospital or affidavit, but birth certificate from National Population Commission (NPC). And to get that is nothing less than 7k.

The cheapest international passport now is 25k (32 page five years validity. That is the government price though and you pay it online. When you get to the passport office, those guys may still ask you to pay something else. You know Nigeria thing now.

Lols. Your international passport will be needed at the third stage ie the documentation stage. Only if you make it to that stage though. And during that documentation stage, it will be very urgent to the extent that Nigeria immigration service may not be able to process it for you that urgently. So the best time to get it is now.
