Chukwuka16:
What really motivates you?

I wish you a merry Christmas
I wish you a merry Christmas
I wish you a merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year

I recently had to start using medication because of elevated blood pressure – I will be fine. When you have to worry about staff salaries and sundry business expenses (for 12 months, this was £100k/monthly) with no hope in sight and then spend 12-15 hours daily for months working on product development and iterating, you get to acquire some unnecessary companions. I’m working hard to get myself rid of them.

I recall sometime back, and I was having a frank discussion with myself. I remember telling my heart that I was cool parting ways with it. I told it that I was so convinced that I could run my body without it and it just had to behave if it wanted to be part of me. My wife when I later told her of my brief meeting with myself concluded I needed help.

I mean I recall weeks where I slept on the carpet in the living room. I needed to be close to the designated space I work best from in the house. I had no choice. If I needed to wake up when my alarm came on, I needed to be as uncomfortable as possible. The carpet was the best solution. God bless my missus. She had to buy some inflatable contraption for me and was from time to time keeping me company there. She has a good heart.

In the midst of all of these things, one question that I have always been asked by my wife but for which I have never given her the answer has been – Chukwuka, what drives you like this? With all of the pains and difficulty and costs accompanying building, accreditation, compliance, research and all, why do you still work this hard? I mean I could take a consulting gig and be fine. I could sell our businesses and their IP, be a dollar millionaire and just be living on interest rate!

I will today answer this question.

I grew up in Deeperlife and as I matured, there was something about Deeperlife and later Winners and other notable Pentecostal churches that awed me. You see, these churches were global. With branches across nations all around the world, they had set up a network that allowed them to do something amazing – they could literally take someone from a village in Ebonyi State and transfer that individual and their families to Plano, Texas or London, UK. I mean, there is no other level of empowerment or opportunity for human fulfilment than that. This was something that was common among the MNCs especially the oil and gas companies. I mean, I left Nigeria to the UK for master’s same day my undergrad classmate also left for France for training with one of the major oil servicing companies as a new recruit. This has always fascinated me. A “local boy” from Nigeria could set up a church in Nigeria, expand it globally and practically move other “local boys” as pastors from one station to another. Nothing beats this for me.

I believe in human capacity development. I am always eager to see humans live fulfilling lives and access every opportunity they can and need for their fulfilment. In today’s world, mobility is the single most important factor for Nigerians to enjoy fulfilled lives. In my many travels, when I see young folks just expressing themselves and shining, I smile. This here is life – people living their lives confidently and with all the support needed to live fulfilled.

I thus work hard because I want to set up something similar for my staff. One thing I know for sure is that in the next few years, I would have achieved this. Staff being able to move from Nigeria to the UK or Amsterdam or Dubai or San Francisco within the business. Staff being able to attend executive training programs in Lagos, Stanford or London or Oxford or Paris routinely and paid for from their training allowance. Staff being able to earn equivalent competitive salaries irrespective of where they want to be based. Staff being fulfilled. I have no business with customers, that is the job of sales and marketing. My business is with the staff who have decided to partner with me on this journey. This is what I want to achieve for our business. I want to setup the ecosystem that will allow them grow, develop broad range of skillsets and command global respect. I want to provide them that platform. I don’t need it – their fulfilment is all I dream of. I want my staff well empowered and confident in their roles. I am working hard daily to set the foundations to achieve these tall dreams.

Why, someone may ask. It is because I want my staff to have this as a lifestyle so that when they leave to start their own businesses, they can take this culture they have imbibed from us and improve on it in their own businesses. I want to catalyse a chain reaction of business owners who deliver excellence in both products/services they offer and in the quality of opportunities and remuneration they provide their staff.

Some time back, some acquaintance was discussing with me and passionately advising me to get a house and a car. He told me of folks around and in church who had theirs. Sincerely, I celebrate them. As I write this, I don’t still own a home, nor do I have a car. My spreadsheet analysis shows I can’t afford either. When my wife passed her driving exams (I am yet to even do my theory test), she was adamant on getting a car. I advised her to do a spreadsheet analysis for 1 year. She came to the same conclusion as I did. We trek a lot (helps with weight reduction and fitness), use the bus (my wife is an expert on their schedule) and complement a lot with Uber. I hope to be in the comfortable position to afford these luxuries someday in the future.

This is my motivation. Building a global brand that will compete with the Octopus and Flexitricity of today but globally and give “local boys” and “local girls” the opportunity to be fulfilled people.

What is your motivation? Does it just revolve around you and your family alone? We have been blessed with an incredible opportunity of travelling to “the abroad”. Can we use this opportunity to unlock more opportunities for more folks (local boys and girls) back home. It will put a smile on the face of our creator up there.

Have a splendid evening.
Hello sir, I am silent reader that enjoy your post in which you always share your invaluable experiences and knowledge which motivate some of us .

Many thanks for this.

Please, I would like to encourage you to get your driving license. I think it is very important, more especially as a family, talk more as a business.

Loool!! They would cry and abuse you over this truth bro!! America is a coward nation!! I got to find out the Russian professional army hasn’t even entered the battle in Ukraine, they only have very little detachments of them working from 100km away from the battle field providing them with informations and stuff, all this whole the people of the donbas and others has been the ones dealing with Ukraine and NATO!! But that’s about to change now!!

If america is as strong against Russia as their a*s lickers believes, I’m sure they’d have invaded Russia by mow
I don’t get it. Russian professional army has not joined the fight, then why the need to mobilise reservists and civilians by Russia to join the fight?

I beg to differ. Now is actually a good time for migrants in the UK due to brexit. Yes higher taxes but thats as a result of earning more. I’ve lived here almost 20years and I have gradually seen the lives of Nigerians especially improve and not via fraudulent means as the old days. Gone are the days when at best you can aspire to be a security man. Now you see a lot of Nigerian immigrants (not born here) in high flying white collar roles. If you doubt me do a quick sample on linkedin. I seen someone on this thread saying you will manage to save £200 a month?? Nonsense. Easily save £3000 - £4000 a month if not for wasteful habits such as expensive designer clothes and going out a lot.
How much is the person earning in a month to save £4000 in month and what type job is it. Please connect me to that type of job.

Hello, just state your current address first and then state your Nigerian address in chronological order. For instance:
Walford Road London ( 12/09/2021 - 12/04/2022)
Kaduna Road Nigeria (02/03/2015 - 11/09/2021).

Bahat:
If memory serves me right. Heap memory are dynamic memory location allocated with malloc(), extendedby calloc() and freed with free(). Functions use stack memory to save function parameters and local variables.

You use stack memory location in your example codes to store variables declared in the body of your program.

Both stack and heap are used by functions. best to use stack space if you aren't doing something serious. heaps are used to manage resources. You can't allocate a specified memory to what you don't know the exact amount of resources coming through. Both stack and heap are guarded by compiler to guard against memory leakage.
There are good programming practise to using those memory spaces.
Hi Bahat, in C++ , we use new keyword to create the heap memory and use delete to release it. Malloc() and calloc() are for C and we use free() to release it.

Concerning my question, an example explanation from experienced guys like you would help more in grasping the concept more. Not only for me but others who will read it.

Many thanks.

SegFault:
Implement your own constructor when you want to do some certain action on creation of a new class, like a class LinkedList for example, when I create a new LinkedList class I would like to create a new node structure inside the class then set an internal node structure pointer variable called head to the node. It will be far easier to do this with a constructor than.

As for the second question, the heap is not used by functions but the stack is, allocating memory on the stack is platform specific (works differently on different CPUs) so doing that might cause issues that would annoy you, but allocating on the heap pretty much works the same way across different systems. To me allocating memory on the stack is much easier because if you lose the reference to that piece of memory there is nothing wrong because another function would just overwrite it, but I still use the heap for the sakes of portability.
Many thanks SegFault. Please would you mind using code examples in your explanation that will make it clearer?
ProgrammingRe: A Thread For C++ Programs by chukxy: 5:44am On Aug 22, 2020
@Tim1212, quick question for you. Why should we implement our own custom copy constructor in a class instead of using the default copy constructor in a class in C++. If you explain this with example, I will appreciate.

Secondly, why is the advantage of using heap memory over stack memory in c++? Again, I will appreciate if you explain with example.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Chukxy,

I can tell you guys are getting ready to count your 30 or 60 working days after biometric capture.
If you guys have access to the E-Dossier for uploading the supporting documents, please scan and upload the Appendix 2 of VAF4A.
In my case, I completed the form in my system and printed it before submitting to Sheffield.
I will also like you to note that during the time of my application, the E-Dossier has not been introduced for uploading supporting documents, so we submitted all our supporting documents to UKVI Sheffield office via Post.

When she goes for her biometric capture, the main thing the TLScontact staff will really need from her is her Passport and to see proof of all corresponding payments.

Good luck to you guys and keep us updated on the most recent visa processes.
Many thanks Chrysbees. Sure. I will keep you guys Posted.

For Appendix 2 V4F4A form. Is it part of the form to be uploaded online with other required documents or does she have to submit it at visa application centre in Nigeria by herself.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Election materials.

Make una dey there dey speak turenci, na people wey go dey decide una future and who go rule una be that going forward.

Una better go start to procreate as well to even the numbers out.
Not really, procreating by other part of Nigeria is not the ideal solution. Rather, it should be the case of changing the electoral law in such a way that if you win a state irrespective of the total number of vote in that state you should be assigned or awarded a particular point.

For instance, each state in Nigeria should be assigned 10 points for winning it. If Kano’s population is 100m in presidential election, it does not matter. This because at the end day, whosoever wins Kano state gets 10 points. By so doing, nobody will use the population of the state to his or her own advantage in a presidential election.

This similar to what is done in US.

You should send all documents to her and she will take it to the UK office in Nigeria.
You don't have anything to do in UK home office.

Please can someone clarify the document submission for me. At the moment my wife has some documents in Nigeria, while I have some here in UK. I just wondering is it the case she post the documents she has to me and I subsequently submit all documents to the designated centre here in UK?

Please how does it work?

1. IELTSUKVI - 98k

2. CBT - 55k (this is because someone helped me to pay, candidates can now pay from their Nigeria bank account and it’s now cheaper - around 34k or so, not very sure)

3. NMC UK registration - around 65k

4. Transcript from my nursing school and courier service

5. Sending of documents to nmc UK

6. NMCN verification- 70k (it’s that high because someone helped me to monitor it, though I still waited than necessary. THE REAL PRICE IS 53,500)

NB - I had to travel and lodge for both exams, because they do not have centers where I live.
Congrats on your success. With respect to CBT exams, which center did you use? Can someone prepare for this exam in 2 weeks and pass it? Could you please recommend the materials you used for the preparation of the exam? From your experience about this exam, can you recommend some tips to be successful. Many thanks in anticipation.

The Bsc would give me nothing immediate but I have long term plans to further my studies to the peak.
My employer is not sponsoring. But there are employers who support. I didn't bother checking if mine will.
The program spans between 1-2 years. If you want to do it in a year, you obviously have to do more modules per time.
It is an online program designed to help those working.
Many thanks for the detailed response.

Hello crushsugar, being UK RN, what advantage will BSC Nursing Hons give you that your current UK RN will not give you? Also, will your employer sponsor this and how long will the program last? Are you able to do this program while working? Many thanks in anticipation.

I doubt this amount is still 4.7m in naira. Norwegian kroner gained more value against the dollar from last year due to rise in oil prices. So the required 111,657 nok should be about $14,500 now compared to about $13,000 it was last year. And I understand that the banks give out fx at 360/$. So you guys should prepare yourselves with about 5.2m.
Anyone who has successfully sent their funds at much lower naira equivalent can disprove my estimates.
Thanks for the info. I think you have experience in this. My other question is if someone' s first year 's living expenses is paid that is the 5.2m is paid, would the person be able to pay the remaining living expenses for the second year by working as student?

There's no school that can cater for living and travel expenses, they've already given you tuition free programs. If you want to study in Norway, prepare your 4.7m for living expenses.

@skartlett would this 4.7m be enough for 2 year masters program ?

No. It doesn't. Experience in a reputable engineering firm in Nigeria would influence your getting engineering job. If you are keen to getting engineering job, you need to up your skill in engineering firm. A possible way to do it is doing internship in engineering firm in UK even if it is free. If you have finance, you can also go the route of doing your masters and doing internship during break. Just applying with current qualification and experience may prove difficult but not impossible.

I've decided to try being dumb in the coming year. All my dumb friends are married.
@TemmyWon, you do n't really need to fake dumb in order to get someone to love you and cherish you. For those that have been friend zoning you because you are smart, be assured that they are not right for you.

Birds of a feather flock together.
