Most schools don't. You just have to ask them if your WAEC is good enough. If it for a masters, i don't think they will ask for it.

The truth is that my wife is a British citizen and she pregnant too.. She needs me to help her..she can't bring me in bcoz the work she does earns her £17,800 per year against the UK £18,600 requirement ..so we taught I should come through school.. She can't work extra shift right now to makeup bcoz of her condition ..Wat will be your advice
That money thing is really stupid. Since she earns a bit closer to the money needed, she could get any job that pays minimum wage and work part time, at least for the sake of the application. I mean it would be easier if you come as a tier 4 and get a PT job which takes the income over the 18600 rule and besides there are ways to get over the rule. You can have her email citizens advice, they might know what to do.

That’s so weird. I attended Anglia Ruskin and my CAS was issued days after my payment was confirmed. I can help you call the international student office if you want, I would have gone but I have a full time job and I get off at 5 but I can call them for you if you want.

Mckandre:
On any hard disk, there is a table stored that says "File xxxxxxxx is stored in the following location(s): "
This ensures that for any request to file xxxxxxxxx, the drive knows where to go look for it. When a file is deleted, the first character of the filename is removed and marked as "unknown". This was the key to let the drive know that any of the locations listed for any filename starting with an unknown character were free to be overwritten with new data.
As long as no new data had been written over the sectors that originally housed that information, everything was still there and you could recover it simply by telling the table to restore the first character of the filename (I remember having to go through entire directories of data back in the 80s, trying to recall the first character of all the filenames so they could be undeleted, kind of like this:

"deleted file ?utoexec.bat -- First character: _"

Complete. Nightmare. Anyway, I digress)

So that allows a pretty easy method of recovering a file providing the sectors that housed it hadn't yet been overwritten. The Windows recycle bin simply delays this process by moving "deleted" files into a special holding area, noting the original location and date it was deleted. After a certain period of time, the "proper" delete takes place.

Now, some people realised that if they wanted to actually get rid of a file, a simple delete might not be sufficient, after all simply by restoring the data in the file table, there's a reasonable chance it might be able to be recovered, especially if it hadn't been a long time since the delete took place. So a method called "zero filling" was invented. This involved filling every byte of the original file with a "0", and then deleting the file. That way, even if you do restore the data in the file table, all you're going to get back is an empty file. It effectively ensures that the disk sectors are already overwritten at the time of deletion.

If u understand how magnetic media operates and still wanna understand the next phase follow the link.
https://www.quora.com/Where-do-deleted-files-go-1
exactly. they stay on your phone until it is overwritten and even when they get overwritten, point a good recovery software at it and you might be able to recover it unless it had been written over multiple times

You do not need to go home to be documented, you can switch while in the UK, @chupcake is right.

There is no such thing as government is making recruitment hard, there are guidelines and they have to follow it.

The tier 2 guidelines with respect to tier 4 students does not require labor market check. Please read the guidelines and don't spread wrong info.
That is exactly what i am trying to say. from what i can see, he was making it sound like there is a personal war against tier 4 student by the home office. I do not think that is the case. Some of the laws that apply to general tier 2 visa does not apply to you if you are switching from a tier 4 which kinda makes it easier. It is even easier if you are applying for a job that requires specific skills like the STEM career. I am in no way saying you will get a job 10 outta 10, it is not just all doom and gloom as people make it. If you have an MSc in International Business or even an MBA with vast experience(not to take anything away from those degrees, i took a business module and i worked by socks off to pass so please, this is not an attack on those degrees), you might find it a wee bit difficult than someone who has a MSc in IT and good experience in Machine Learning or Database Administration or an amazing portfolio as a web developer.

That comes to the point that UK government is being diplomatic somehow. One recruiter once said that UK government is making recruitment difficult for them. You know what, they will not tell you the real thing, as you have right to sue them.
Not that they don't recruit tier4, they must consider inside first before outside. Let assume, there are four slots, be rest assured that 2 or 3 is for them, even if they are not better.
Lol.. what happens then when there are no suitable candidates applying for the 4 slots. Believe me, i understand what you are saying but i just think it not as bad as some people put it. That is why i would not recommend anyone studying courses like MBA or International Business or courses like that to come here if they want to have a shot at getting a job. But if you are here doing an MSc in Nursing or Medicine (especially nursing), any IT field especially Security, Machine Learning and you have appropriate certifications and some experience or a vast portfolio if you are a web developer (projects you've done or collaborated on that is designed using different frameworks, languages). Your chances are high. That is just what i THINK is all.

You are absolutely right. I guess those jobs are not internship jobs. Also, it is not restricted to department or area of specialty.

Yes, as an international student, you have a great opportunity to travel round the world as much as your visa expiration is not less than four months old.

The issue with job, to me, is just that the UK government is trying to protect their citizens first before others. Any company recruiting must first consider UK citizen, follow by European citizen, and then International.
Well, legally i THINK they are not allowed to do that to Tier 4 students. Again, i am saying this based on experience. A hiring manager once told me that they are not allowed to do that. whatever he means, i am not sure but he said he won't discourage anyone from applying, whatever their immigration status is. I THINK passing the interview means you were 'better' than everyone that applied which might or might not include Brits and EU citizens that apply and they care more about who will deliver than where you come from. At least that is what i am able to deduce from what he told me. I THINK you just have to apply for an organization capable of sponsoring you and i also don't THINK some of the laws that apply for a normal Tier 2 applies if you already have a Tier 4 visa. I do not THINK they are allowed to not hire you if you are more qualified than a Brit of EU candidate but then, you just have to pray you meet someone who doesn't think less of you because of the color of your skin.

Reason why i said IT is because you can hire someone with a Degree in Archaeology as a Manager but not as a Web Developer. Jobs that are specific skill based are a wee bit difficult to fill so i THINK organisations will hire you if you are the better person in an interview.

What was your mission ? Do you have enough time for internship as MSc student? Remember, your academic calendar is 9 months and 3months for your thesis (though, your thesis may require you work with professionals in some companies). 4 months to flex your muscles around, and during these times, you are no more a student. If it was for first degree, you would have more time for internship during summer.
I would say it depends on the course you are studying and the skills you already have. This is specific for those in IT as that is the only experience i have. for example during the 3 months set aside for dissertation, my professors started sending out Job adverts to us. Places they know some of us are qualified for. i got a bunch of them and people actually applied, even the university itself had a place open and it was sent to use first before it was put out.. it is not all sad and gloomy. a friend of mine in class turned down two job offers during dissertation. although she is not an international student but what is to say they won't offer it to someone on tier 4 visa if they applied. She also did something unique for her project and she told me a couple of days ago that a company actually wanted to buy the app and the Uni offered her a PhD place to pursue the project further. She claimed the company wanted to bring her and her 'team' on which means she can potentially hire someone like me. Who is to say that cannot happen to a tier 4 student.

Also, with a tier 4 visa in hand, it is easy to get a visa to go to other countries. i have been to France twice as most of my friends and some of them even hold 2yrs American Visa. Also, before someone comes and tell me my thinking is 'faulty', do you own research oo. i am not saying all these is set in stone, this is just stuff i have seen and stuffs that has happened to people close to me it might be different in the city and uni you end up in. Tell you mama to continue praying for you and if you don't have one, pray for yourself.

That is WRONG.

You were not simply writing down your musings or your observations. Someone needed help and sought for that help on this forum. You would do well to provide counselling/suggestions within the ambit of the law.

So the law is not broken when you “are not hurting anyone”?

@chupcake

You still don’t get the point, don’t ever give such examples, let people find that out themselves else you will give false hopes. Imagine if you say it is possible to do more than 20 hours during term time and so he puts all his hopes on that and then gets to UK and he is unable to pay his school fees via that route and he ends up not getting jobs when he comes, what happens? He may be forced to become an illegal immigrant or end up marrying white woman and hence, destroying his destiny (I have seen many of such cases).

I did not come from a wealthy home, I struggled to pay my fees, I mean struggled big time so I know wassup.

Confession time

When I first came to UK years back as a student, I did more than 20 hours (I would not even lie about it), infact I did it through agencies. Agencies gave me jobs more than 20hoirs, I kept on doing them even though my visa wrote it clearly that they were only permitted to give me 20hours. It worked for me and I got away with it does not mean it will work for you... my head is different from yours, the reason why I can never ask anyone to do such. Things have even changed now. Yes some students still do it BUT I will never advice such.

If you want to do more than 20 hours as a student

If you want to do this, you must be attending church regularly so that you meet people and advertise what you do. Be street smart, go out and meet people.

please make sure it is cash jobs. If you are an electrician, carpenter, hair dresser, Painter, can edit or proof read dissertations, church drummer, stay at home with kids or pick kids up from school, tailor etc you will get cash from these jobs and make extra cash to support your official 20 hours but I don’t like saying this too much so that people don’t get their hopes up high thinking they can pay school fees via these jobs.

Guess what, just last week, I went to take measurement for a native cloth that will be sown from Nigeria (I needed to send the measurement to naija). The girl who is a PHD student in Caledonian collected £10 just to take my measurement (lasted less than 5 minutes).

At the moment in UK, don’t try working more than 20 hours via agencies or via bank payments

Currently, I know some agencies that willl even write to your school to be sure you have good attendance in school before they register or give you job. For example, Brightworks in Glasgow will never give you a job as a student until they write to your school. In fact they even have a compliance officer that works with the home office to make sure the agency does not give any student more than 20hours.

ASA another top agency in Glasgow at the moment don’t even Register students except you already registered with them long tine ago. They will tell you, we don’t have jobs for students and when they do, you can never exceed 20hours.

This thread promotes legality and that is students should do 20 hours during term time.
Now i get your point. Like i said, i know it is illegal and i won't advise anyone to do it. What i said earlier is just me putting it out that so he or whoever wants to know will know there is no black and white to it. There are grey but illegal areas where if you get away with it, it will probably all work out in the end. Again i am not advising him to do it.

Also, what's 'destiny ruining' about marrying a white woman. i mean marrying anyone for the wrong reasons can ruin your destiny but c'mon brother!!!!!

Anyways, i just said what i said because it is something i have seen. i dont know how it works nor do i have contacts for it, i never did it, would never advise anyone to bank their hope on it and am not advising anyone to do it.

OlowoB:
To be honest, people do more than 20 hours but it is illegal and this thread preaches “legality”.

For someone just entering into a new city, you must not say such so that he does not end up thinking it will also be like that for him and it is even risky.

It worked out for your friends does not mean it will work that way for him. Trust me, I have lived here long enough and I know all the “runs” that is happening and still happens but you will never see me advicing such cos it is better they come to UK having the money with them than to think they will be able to do side or cash jobs and then get stranded if the jobs don’t come in.

If the side jobs or cash jobs comes in along the line, then good luck, but the advice should always be, come prepared with money.
I get all ya'll points. i understand the need to come here with your finances in order to avoid any problems. i understand it is breaking the law and i get it comes with consequences and i am not advising such. All i am saying is one way or the other, i have seen people do it. Yes it is not right and not legal and i don't know the fine prints enough to know exactly how it works out but yes i have seen it. I am just tying to say it is not at all impossible (even tho illegal and frowned upon). we aren't all born with a silver spoon and we don't all have people to help. i mean if he makes the choice and gets caught, he alone will suffer the consequences but if he takes that action and he is not hurting anybody (except maybe himself) in the process, I personally don't have any moral objection to it. Again i cannot stress this enough, i know it is illegal and I didn't do it cos i have a mother and a GF who were instrumental but then not everyone has a support system in place.

I don’t know about Scotland but my friends here working the whole care Job in England work way more than 20hrs but on their payslip, it only says 20hrs with an astronomical per hour rate. I don’t know how they did it, I didn’t do it. I know people who paid their entire masters fee on their own with that. Their grade suffered a bit but then they pulled through. Nothing is impossible, you just have to ask the right questions and the city you end up determines a whole lot. If i was you, i will do as much research about the city the school as in.

that is a very narrow minded way of discouraging him. you don't have to 'know' mathematics to do web development and learn the language used for it. also, you don't need too advanced level mathematics except he wants to learn machine learning/deep learning.

you should probably ask what he intends to write program for and suggest the appropriate language he should learn.
besides, tutorial for languages won't just teach you the syntax, it will also teach you the logic behind conditional statements and the correct flow of the language.

Do you know how to use Git and GitHub. If you don't there is a free course on Udacity with i found very helpful. Learn it and put your project up there if you want someone to looks at it and make suggestions and such. Also, one of your first projects should be creating a personal portfolio for yourself. Also, for everyone trying to learn to code, be it web development or whatever, take time out to learn git. It took me less than 2 days. that way, we can all collarborate on projects together.

Hello all, congratulations to those that recently got their visas. i hope you are all settled in. few advice for those here or planning to come for studies.

1. Start applying for jobs immediately your are settled. i know it being said before but i cants stress the importance of this.

2. Only apply for job from companies on the tier 2 list.

3. Download and familiarise yourself with all sections on the tier 2 and tier 4 guidance for both sponsors and applicant. This would enable you to stay in confines of the law in anything you are doing.

3a. General tier 2 requirement does not apply to a tier 4 student. their is still provisions for post-study work. YES THEIR IS PROVISION FOR POST STUDY WORK IN THE TIER 2 GUIDANCE. below are a few points for your reference (paraphrasing)

Section 1.9: Employers do not need to pay the immigration skill charge for a Tier 4 student visa holder which is currently in the UK.
Section 26.4 -26.5: Exempt tier 4 student from requiring the minimum salary of £30,000 per year down to £20,800.
Section 28.9: This exempts an employer from carrying out the resident labour market test.

4. Network and meet people. this is as important as your education, the right introduction to the right person would work wonders.

good luck in your studies and God bless.

Okay. I understand you (though I'm surprised UKVI will do that since they're only supposed to verify the document and not do "another assessment". So best thing might be for the school to say on the CAS that they have examined the English proficiency of the student without listing the IDP IELTS document on the CAS.
Exactly. the school might in most cases accept it but they cannot list it on the cas. they will just say that they have assessed your english and it is good for them. if they list it on the cas, UKVI will reject the visa application solely on that. Not nice i know but thats what they do.

What were you applying for when the result wasn't accepted? All IELTS exams (IDP Australia ot British Council) are tested the same way i.e. same exam. However, for immigration to the UK (not non-immigration like going for studies) the same IELTS exam is conducted in a special administrative condition and it is called "IELTS for UKVI". In my opinion, IDP's IELTS can be used to study in the UK except maybe for certain special student visas/certain schools. I may be wrong though but that's why I have asked what you applied for with the IELTS result.

If UK is your first choice destination, then follow guiddoti's advice first by asking your prospective school about that IELTS result being tenable before changing your mind about your study destination.
I applied for a masters degree. The school might accept it but if it listed on your CAS for visa application, UKVI WILL NOT accept it!!
