guiddoti:Anyone that's not UKVI, they won't take it |
guiddoti:Lol, you saying it is not possible or too small?? |
Ericsunday619:THEY WON'T TAKE IT. I WASTED LIKE 60K WHEN I DID MINE AND IT WASN'T UKVI. I AM SORRY BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO APPLY AND WRITE IELTS FOR UKVI. |
omolakesi:Sorry for the late reply bro. I don't really anything about Chelmsford. Them my friends wey dey there na rich pickin so them no dey work. it if was Cambridge now, I would even write your application for you and get you earning around £700-£800 per month working 20hrs a week in no time. Either way, I fit ask them sha. |
sgd:Nairaland says you messaged me but i couldn't reply cos your email does not exists. |
yemimajid:ICT skills to help with your work or you want to branch out and do something else. |
quille11:Hmmm, I am pretty sure you can work out something with them before the end of your studies. You can always walk into Financial Services abi International Student office and explain to them. You can work out a payment plan. I don't think they would want you to go home before the end of your course. That doesn't do them any good. |
EMPERO247:Sir, I dey very far from Port-Harcourt but nothing is impossible with the power of internet. What exactly are you interested in? |
Presidentman:Hmmm... I don't understand that question but i am going to take a wild guess you already have a website so i guess you just write the code on your editor, put it in your public_html folder but can you please tell me more about what you mean. |
Sugarcious:Lol, saying a lot of Mathematics will definitely scare off someone with a Pol Science background. If he wants to get into Machine Learning/Big Data, then he can worry about mathematics. If he wants to write desktop applications and Embedded Softwares, then he can worry about Data Structure and Logic and shit. What if he just wants to do web development, those doesn't require all that nah. sandammy:Depends on what you want to do. I think Web development is simple enough for anyone as long as you take your time and start from the basics. Don't rush and learn the syntax of the language very well before coding. I am sure anyone can at least learn web development, even using different scripting language like Python or GoLang for server side development. |
Presidentman:Great!! Knowing HTML and CSS is the best way to begin learning web development. As time goes on tho, You won't write much of these from scratch anymore. Anyways, have you heard about FreeCodeCamp. It is a really great resource. It starts from the absolute beginning and it's free. It has so many levels and if you manage to finish everything on the website (doing it a couple of hours a day will take you many months), you will be paired with a team to build a real life application for a charity and i believe you can call yourself a Full Stack Developer then cos they touch on everything, I mean everything!! If you are only interested in the front end, then you can stop halfway. By then you will be able to write HTML/CSS and Javascript. You'll also learn stuff like Ajax, JQuery, Bootstrap and other stuff. If video tutorials is your thing, then i suggest you try Udemy. It isn't free but they have discounts where you get courses for like £10. If you are interested in getting those for free, Torrent is your friend. Tutors like Rob Percival (front end), Edwin Diaz (my favourite on PHP) and one other guy like that (Don't remember the name) are excellent tutors and Robs and Edwin Diaz tutorials helped me a lot when i was building my first web app. I managed to get a decent score in 3 months for someone who hasn't written a page of HTML/CSS before. Also W3Schools is an amazing resource. I kinda like W3CSS more than Bootstrap but i didn't use bootstrap that much. And for website to build, these video tutorials come with projects. You just don't write codes, you build stuffs. Some build twitter clones, Quora Clones, Facebook clones and eCommerce websites so you won't be short of projects. Also, if you haven't heard or use Stack Overflow before, then you are a learner (Ha! forgive me abeg). I think when i graduate, i will make a tee-shirt that says 'I want to thank Stack Overflow, YouTube, Udemy, W3Schools and then my University for this degree'. Stack Overflow is a community of people who provide help with problems you might have along the way. What is is best for is solving specific problems when you are coding. It has a diverse community so even if you are coding in Lua of Haskell or TypeScript or GoLang, there is always someone to help you. So either you looking to bold a MySQL query result when you display them or just looking for words to float on your webpage or even looking to build SkyNet (The AI that destroys the world ha!). Ask anything and you will be sure to get an answer. If you've got any other questions, holla back. I am not a guru myself but i will try to help you as much as i can. |
Mehn, I haven't been on here for ages now. I remember when i practically lived on this website. Coming to the end of my Masters Degree now and it has been a very fun ride. I've always wanted to give back so if anyone has got any questions at all, please ask and i will do my best to answer. Even better if the question is relating to, or about Anglia Ruskin University or the city Cambridge. Questions about work, the school, the town, best place to get cheap accommodation, nightlife(don't know much about that one) and basically anything sha. |
TeeBaggy:Yes, you will need your passport to be able to write the exam. Also if you are going there to school, you will need to write the Academic. I don't know what you mean by 'wanna work over there' but for any other thing, you can take the Academic. |
kafeii123:I think they do. The UKVI things is just a way for the British Embassy to extort more money. Ask your school and they will tell you but i am pretty sure they will accept it. |
bennaz:Well, How do i do that. Sorry if i sound lazy but i really don't know what to do. If you were the one writing it, how would the table of content look like. |
psucc:Bro, It topic itself is vague at best or i think so. It should be about the Economy of Nigeria and it should be based on some topics we covered in class. So far we've talked about Demand and Supply Analysis, Market Structure and Profit Maximization, Exchange Rate Analysis, Globalization and Sustainability but i then we throw around words like Inflation, Unemployment, Balance of Trade during the lectures. As much as i can read to pass the damm course, this report is another case, I don't know what else to write other than 'A Brief History of Nigeria'. Even that i think should have an economic undertone and i don't know how to do that. |
Hello, Please heh, I need help. I have an economic report to write about Nigeria and i don't know where or what to write (I an not an economics student and the most i did back in Undergrad was Demand and Supply). So please biko, Just point me in the right direction abeg. |

He has said it all. Also have you tried making payments with your GTBank card. I paid for mine online but I heard they've started accepting bank drafts. You can also call them and ask if you can send the bank draft via dhl or so. |
Yababoy:the TB test will be done in an hospital around Ikeja GRA. IOM. Check online for their contact as you will need to make an appointment before you go. You will also need to make payment to their standard chartered account before you go. That way you can do the TB test and get your result same day. Also the application process is easier now because they have integrated the IHS fee together with the application so you can pay it during application. Just make sure you use a card that you are sure will work cos if it declines three times, you will have to start the application process all over again and if you have paid the ihs fee before it cancels your application, you'll need to start over, then you might end up paying twice. They will refund you tho, it is just stressful. |
chasethechased:I think you should be able to apply at the same time as long as you meet the financial requirements. Cc Justwise should be able to help you further but I don't see a reason why you can't apply together. |
iretide1:Well, to the best of my knowledge, I don't think there is any bank that will let you pay that much unless you've got an account in foreign currency. If you've got someone outside the country, you can try paying them and using their card. I am assuming you'll need to pay the money together. If it is a different application for each person, that means it will let you pay for each person individually and if that's the case, just get a GTBank naira MasterCard for two payments. That is 1 naira MasterCard can pay for two people. Both IHS and Visa fee. GTBank recently increased their limit to $2k. Don't know anything about the form A tho. |
Hey everyone, thanks for the help so far. I will be leaving for the UK next week. This is my first time traveling at all so it all seems a bit overwhelming. I will be traveling through the gatwick airport. I guess I just need advice is all. From pre-departure to arrival and everything in between. My brother is coming to pick me up from the airport. Am I allowed to pack food and if yes, what am I allowed to pack. What else will I need? How much is sufficient to have with me? If you can think of anything else that can help apart from the above question, pls add. I feel like I am going into unknown territory and it feels somehow. Thanks in advance. Cc justwise |
girlonfire:Are you applying to a UK school, then you will need to write another one buh before you do, tell you school. They might just put in your cas that they have assessed your level of English and found it suitable instead of listing the IELTS document in your cas. If they can do the first one, you will need your original waec result. If not, you will have to write another one. |
Been waiting for the day I'll come here to say I've got my visa. Well, today is the day. Picked it earlier. Thanks to everybody from justwise to everybody that ever helped in any way. Thanks y'all. I will come back and write about my experience so maybe someon else can learn from it. Thanks again. |
@ justwise. I've been called to attend another interview. Why exactly I don't know but I am not really worried. The first interview was quick and my answers were quick and direct to the point. I was just wondering if I should employ the same tactics here or really go into details. I am not scared of either cos I didn't lie on my application at all. Just want to know which way to go. |
Giov:Picking up results are limited to specific days. I can't really remember which days exactly. Check their website or if anyone has picked up their result recently. They should be able to tell you. |
primeson1:Wish you all the best. If you need anything at all, holla. I'll be happy to help. |
ufeedoh:Ohh my bad. You booked your flight yet? Which airline? Also if you can, please share your experience at both airports. Do you have an email address i can contact you on? |
Still wondering how some of ya'll got 7 and above in writing. I have written ielts twice now (my mistake, wrote the ordinary one first before i found out i needed to write one for UKVI) and i have only managed a 6.5 in the writing. The second one came out nice, 8.5 in both the reading and listening and 7.0 in the speaking. Anyways, Just tot i should add a few more tips. 1. ieltsbuddy.com is probably the best website for you. They will help you through everything. I suggest you head there first before practicing with the materials. 2. For the speaking test, apart from the tips on the ieltsbuddy website, Make sure you get there on time. You will meet other applicants so strike up a conversation with one of them. For someone like me who doesn't speak english always, i was able to sort of 'warm up'. When i got in, it was uphill from there. 3. For the Listening. You will only hear the recording once so please, don't think about that girl you straffed yesterday or that fine boy inside the bus on your way to the center. If you lose concentration just for a few seconds, you will find yourself a couple of answers short. It is pretty easy to get a 9.0 here. 4. For the reading, they have a lot of long ass piece for you to read. I am used to reading and enjoying center spreads of newspapers so it was nothing . Try to enjoy the story/article. That is the best way to really understand it. The questions are also in the order the passage is written so the next answer is in the next paragraph and you don't have to remember where an answer is or start looking throughout the entire passage to answer the next question.5 As for the writing, there are enough tips on the website and there are enough written examples towards the end of the materials posted on here (Go back to like the first couple of pages). If you are not dumb as i am, you should probably get something higher than i did. IELTS has one golden rule though, Always read the instructions. See heh, failing to do that singular thing almost guarantees that you will pile 4.0s in all bands. Writing has minimum number of words to be written for both sections. Anything less than that and you are done. Reading and listening has the amount of words they are expecting for every answer. If the section says 'Only one Word' and you write more then one, sorry is your name oo.. If the instructions says not more than two words from the passage and you write something else. Bro, you are on your own. I hope this helps sha. If you need anything else, Holla, If i can help, I will always help. Also if you are applying to study in a UK university, Please register for IELTS for UKVI instead oo.. It is more expensive and only online payment is accepted (last time i checked) |
ufeedoh:Bro, Congratulations mehn. I was able to pay sha. I used my sister's GTbank ATM. I even encountered the dreaded 'Order is no longer payable' page. I submitted the documents on tuesday so fingers crossed. When are you leaving? |
ufeedoh:Did you use the same GTBank account for both. I am asking cos of the limit thing. |
