Question for anyone who applied recently. Did you do the visa interview? I haven’t had anyone apply since 2016 and back then, people did interviews at the submission centre. Do they just call randomly on the phone or do they ask the person to come to the embassy? |

Is it advisable to mention refusal to the school. Currently having problems with Sunderland as their reason for not offering admission is becuase of refusal. The reason for refusal was because of unaccount funds in the account. I had a sponsor and i am trying to explain to sunderland that the funds is earmarked for Tier 4 visa application fee, IHS and travel expense when they eventually give me the visa. Thinking of applying to other schools not but not sure if it is a good idea to mention it. |

Informative post but i would like to point out somethings - Be careful of the apps you download; The Facebook scandal I mentioned, the company involved only used info gotten by an app that used Facebook account as a log in means. 270,000 people downloaded the app in the US, but with the access to people’s account, they were able to access details of their friends and all, amounting to 50 million persons, and poof! Data was stolen. Data was not stolen from Facebook. Saying data was stolen means Facebook servers was somehow breached (the odds for this is actually very small) and data was downloaded. That didn't happen. What happened was that people were paid to take a personality test and also gave the app developer permission to 'harvest' data from you and your friends. Facebook was involved because it's security policies allowed it. Facebook servers was not breached!! https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/mar/26/the-cambridge-analytica-files-the-story-so-far There is nothing like absolute privacy especially when you use free service like facebook, google or Windows 10 (How does Windows 10 take your data you say, story for another day). Like my professor will say, if the service is free, you are the product. Hoping and praying they don't do anything with your date is a very naive way of thinking about this. Not when the Data market in EU alone is worth about EUR737 billion (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/news/final-results-european-data-market-study-measuring-size-and-trends-eu-data-economy). This creates incentive for hackers to try and steal it and tech companies to demand for as much as they can hold and if you know what facebook knows about you, you go fear. Recent reports shows facebook has a metadata on phone logs and messages you send and receive if you have either the Facebook or Messenger App on your phone (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/mar/25/facebook-logs-texts-and-calls-users-find-as-they-delete-accounts-cambridge-analytica). If you want to continue using the free services, do but put as little about yourself as you can. Google already reads your email and if you use Cortana, Microsoft already knows what you sound like so use as little as possible. Clear your browser history and cookies often and when you not using those accounts, log out and delete cookies to prevent cross browsing tracking. If you ever wonder how you log in to Facebook or YouTube and they show you ads for something you search for 20 mins ago, that is how. As for trucaller, just register your number on the website with a name. Besides, anyone that has your number and wants to call you probably already knows your name. |

justwise: Thanks. That is the other question i have. It seems easy to prove that for my mom as she is a matron and works for the lagos state government so she can submit payslips and her salary account statement. My sister is a different case entirely. She just finished University and waiting to go for NYSC. She is not employed at the moment, not married and no kids. My question is this: Should i wait for her to start NYSC so that can be her 'tie' to the country. That way, she can apply and come in the middle of the program and that way, she can get maybe a letter from her LGI (stating she is in the program, duration and permission to travel) and bank account information that shows her allowee (Is 'currently undergoing NYSC' a strong enough reason to give the ECO that she is just visiting and is going to come back). I think since i will be sponsoring the trip, it doesn't matter how much she has in the account (please correct me if i am wrong) or is there another way i can prove her ties to the country. The application is still a couple of months away but i just want to get my bearing right and start planning. 1 Like |

Hello all. Abeg i kinda need help. I am presently in the UK with limited leave to remain and i want my mom and sister to come visit. i live in a big enough house and i have a job. My question is how much do i have to make monthly to be able to sponsor the trip for both of them. If i am sponsoring the trip, do they have to provide any other financial documents from their own part? Also, is it possible for my partner to maybe sponsor my sister and i sponsor my mother if i don't make enough to sponsor both of them. If this depends on savings i have in my account, how much will i need to have saved up and be able to show in my back account that i can sponsor both of them. Keep in mind they have never met my partner before. |
Travel / Re: Nigeria Lady Delivers Message To Everyone Planning To Move To America1 by chupcake(m): 1:49pm On Jan 16, 2018 |
SirBaro: My thoughts exactly. People live on far lower income and have kids and are comfortable, go on holidays and pay a nice sum into their pension pot. It is not easy anywhere but it is easier in countries like America as long as you don't live beyond your means. If you cannot afford a $400,000 house, don't buy it. If your can't afford the payment on the Mercedes, don't buy the it. It is as simple as that. In countries like the US and UK, as long as you are not an illegal immigrant and you are not lazy, you will get by just fine. It is even better in the UK where you have the NHS and don't have to worry about sudden medical emergencies draining your finances. If you work minimum wage, you take home after tax is around £1,071.97 (minimum wage is higher if you work in London and it is easy to find jobs that pays more than minimum wage). As a single person, you can get house share for about £350 - £400. Other biils (council tax, water, electricity, internet et. al) is probably around £100-£120. This is just the very basic example of earning the bare minimum and you will get by. I earned less while i was a student and still had enough to send the occasional 20k to my sisters back home. As long as you stay in your lane and continue to work on yourself so you can get ahead, be prayerful and don't try to find shortcut (If you get caught, your life will never be the same again), you will be aight. 5 Likes |

justwise: Oh i am sorry if i gave him wrong advice. I have always known people who apply for visa and are sponsored by someone that is not parent to go to interview and say they are sponsored by someone else. If that is wrong, i am sorry and can you please explain the right way to answer the question. **EDIT** I answered the question under the pretext that the money is already in his account and the question was what should he say if they ask the source of the money. |
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by chupcake(m): 2:01pm On Dec 30, 2017 |
No bro.. They are not concerned with how rich the person sponsoring you is (as long as they are not your parent) or where they are from. The name and address of your aunt is enough to confirm whatever information they need and they can just pick up the phone and call her if they have to (UKVI called my dad's bank and they in turn called my dad but i was using his account and not mine). As long as you have the money in your account and have the statement to prove it and it is above maintenance money + your fees. I don't think they worry about the source of money and if they asked, just tell them you aunt sent it to your because she is the one sponsoring your education... Finish!! |

Hayzed212: Hmm... you can tell them the truth. Your mom's elder sister sent the money to your account so i am guessing the money covers your remaining school fees and living expenses. Just tell them you already have the money and you don't need to work. About accomodation, if your aunt's place is close to the school, you can give her address and say that is where you will be staying. If not, you can tell them you are going to her place from the airport and you will arrange to get accommodation when you get there. You should have an idea of how much accomodation cost around your school. 1 Like |

Tamzwillie01: Is that the only thing written on your refusal letter. can you shed more light on how the application went, the interview process. Schools don't like refusals as some schools do visa-type interview and review financial statements before a CAS is issued. More information might help the people on the forum to give you help |

Ugo88: You got the interview part wrong. I don't know if Priority and Super Priority is the same but i paid for priority and was interviewed twice, one on the day i submitted and the another on the second day. Also, i think paying for priority after you have been denied a visa is like a waste of money because it will take longer becos you have been denied. |

deolutolu: Ask you school first if IELTS is compulsory. Most times it is not. If it is, ask them if they will list the IELTS in the CAS or not. If they will (which is most times) then you have to do IELTS for UKVI as the embassy only accepts that. If they won't list it on the CAS and just say they have accessed your English Language and found it to be adequate, then you can do the normal IELTS. In my own personal opinion, if you need to write IELTS, write the one for UKVI. That way you can use it for UK Visa purposes and don't have to worry about the fine print. |

abdullahi45: I started counting 28 days immediately the money reflected. The day it reflected was day 1. he had under 10K in his personal account before then and he just transferred 5M (this was in 2016) which was the maintenance money at that time from his business account. I gave it 2 more days after the 28 days before he went to the bank to ask for statement. I came here to Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and my confirmation of Award and Transcript for a Masters Degree in ICT is waiting for me at home at the moment. |

And yes i have tested and tried it and it was the first every web development course i took. I have not found a better one. It touches on everything, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP, the MVC model, jQuery, Wordpress, MySQL and some other stuffs i cannot remember at the moment. At the end of the course, you will be able to design a web application from scratch to finish (both front end and back end). I have the video on my udemy account but i can't download it as the download option for PC is not available |
