Tnx for your response. my laptop is HP Pavilion dv6000 with basic vista OS.
I tried all that you asked me to do but it wont respond to it. I switched it off,turned it back and constantly pressed f8,but it still got to the "BOOTMGR COMPRESSED,CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart"msg.Same thing with the f9 keys,it wont get to the advanced option you talked about.
Is it the vista giving too much wahala,coz i believe with pressing the f8 key it should go to d advanced option.The f10 and f12 keys still works.I have done a SMART test and it says the hard disk passed,what possibly could b d problem,i cant afford to lose the files on my disk and SURELY I HAVE LEARNT MY LESSON,even if it is the hard way.
Pls help ohhhhhhhhhh

When you say boot from CD,do u mean selecting CDROM as 1st boot option or inserting an OS in the CDROM drive? I use VISTA basic and where can i get the OS on cd?

Hello Landers and computer geniuses,
I need help,
I tried to compress my hard disk to save size,and when i couldn't wait for it to finish compressing(seems like its gonna take all eternity) I canceled the operation and it said i have to restart for it to take up the new settings,and on restart it wouldn't complete booting.
the message after coming up is "BOOTMGR COMPRESSED,click CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart" and when i did as stated it still doesnt boot past this stage.
I was thinking maybe the vista OS is bad or do i need to format my laptop? I have valuables on my hard disk and wouldnt want to lose any of the docs if i have to format.
Please what can be done to save my hard disk?
I have tried booting from the CD ROM and even done disk check(which shows the disk passed all test)but it still wont get past the above message.

True, We got many tricksters in here claimimg to be what they are not.

A system's speed depends on lots of things. If u use 1G with vista then your hard disk must not be big size, some below 100Gb is Ok. My advise to is to change you operating system to windows XP and increase you ram to 1gb.

Doesn't changing from Vista to XP has its problems?,like drivers not working,system performing below par,and all that.IF its possible to change to XP what is the procedure and what are the risks involved?

My laptop battery does not last more than 1hr.45mins after disconnection from mains,what suggestions are there to make the battery last longer,or would it be advised to get a new battery.

I bought it some time ago,used,and i have not formatted it since i bought it.It runs on winndows vista,and like i heard,getting most of the drivers for the laptop (HP Pavilion dv6000[dv6220BR]) could be difficult. Its ram was 512mb now 480mb,speed 1.7mhz. Ur diagnosis needed pls

will do as u suggested. I have AVAST anti virus installed,would i still need NORTON? I use Firefox,Opera and IE,firefox freezes up most times so i had to settle with opera.I use IE too,but both browsers @ same time hangs the system

Going with the incessant posts and requests made by fakers in this forum,which end up costing most people qualit time and money on phone calls,not to talk of dashing hopes,i sought to use this medium to suggest a way to weed and clean ot fake posters and so-called facilitators who do not have products but claim to do and who do not have cleints either but chase genuine brokers/facilitators on wild goose chases.
This is my suggestion,any contact made with any broker/facilitator and which does not yield the much desired result should be posted here for all forumites to see,every detail of the contacts made should be posted so as to make us wary of such people. And any defaulter given the chance to defend him/herself,and where no noable defence is put up,we would know what to do. ITS TIME FOR REBRANDING.
That way we can seperate the'chaft from the wheat'.
