Thank you for those comforting words. The truth is there is no other way of funding the study, that is why i was thinking of leaving the whole study stuff. I am considering the cost my parents will have to provide since it is not a nigerian university and being 24 at that too. ryd3: Love ur growing sense of independence, but its a matter of capacity. If u feel u are up to the task financially , then the more pride ur parents wld av for u. But of u don't av a clue where u gonna get finances, then its better u look at this as a longterm investment ur parents are making. I'm 27, and an aunt is helping to subsidise mine. Your goal is paramount... The end will in most cases justify the means. |
Nairalanders i need some advice, i just turned 24 years old 5 months ago and finished my masters degree last month. But my parents wants to sponsor me for a Phd and i feel like i am now too old to be getting money from my parents. I really want to do a PhD in medical science but i feel like turning it down to look for job, since i am feeling guilty of over dependence on my parents. |
kofsy: Lol! He's not my hubby jor... I'm not married (he's my aunt's hubby). From my own perspective, I think a man's wife should be his next of kin. But my aunt is fighting for her space in the home. God forbid, if anything happens to the hubby, his family may come and chase her out and start claiming properties. And with his kind of family I know they can do it cos they don't like my aunt they never wanted their son to marry her cos she's a christian and they are muslims. Even my family didn't want my aunt to marry the guy, but she insisted. Sincerely, I'm scared of these muslims o, they can do and undo when it comes to fighting over aIf your aunt husband is not dead and from the ages of the kids he is still young. Yet your aunt is already talking about sharing property and death. There is a big question mark to what your said aunt really have in mind. If he trusts his brother enough to use him as next of kin and not your aunt his wife, then she should ask her self questions about what kind of wife she is. Untrustworthy or trustworthy. Next of kin is a question of trust and not about sharing property or death. |
Sure ngga, let's start with your female family members. Let's make them legal prostitution first Nigerians are messed up. So, make homosexuality illegal, byt legalize prostitution? okay
that may help reduce the gay problem lol. Just joking |
My question is when did we all forget ourselves? humans are believed to be a higher animal with brain capacity that outweighs other animals on earth, but it is disturbing how they ended up in this way. My points are 1) The microorganisms that we can not see mate with opposite sex (except when they reproduce asexually). 2)Other animals still mate with opposite sex till date, even when it is assumed humans has better judgement than these animals. 3)The plants also manages to keep this normal way of mating by pollen grains (except when they reproduce asexually). Where and how did we arrive at the idea of mating with same sex? My opinion 1) Some one in the past most have had brain problems and ended up looking at his fellow man or woman as the opposite sex. 2) Or a new brain problem is affecting humanity maybe due to some genetic mutations 3) People in politics is trying to reduce human population and why? If same sex marriage is ideal why adopt, why surrogate mother? Why use another person that is not in that union to do the job of reproduction? I have noting against gays and for that reason i will say if these people so much wanted to be in a same sex marriage then they should leave children out of this. Then government should make it a criminal offense for same sex couples to seek or acquire children by any means and maybe put a death sentence on it. Because they never wanted any. |
I think the problem is how many rooms are there in this house hold? where is the father of this girl that she has to sleep in that same bed instead of her father? Is the father dead? did she really graduate from a university and how did she live in the university? Does she really understand the meaning been comfortable while sleeping? Is she the only child? Is she the last child of that family? If she is not the last child of the family where is the last child then? The answer to this question might mean there is a good reason for that or it is just poverty. Maybe the family is still living in stone age while we are in 21 century. No offense, just asking |
goodman3: @op its either ure not passionate about medicine or ure just unlucky to be a poor doc in naija. I sense envy and jealousy in some posts here! An average doc in naija can amass a total income of 300,000naira every month. Some weeks ago, when I went to a state owned general hospital, I noticed that doctors there resume work at 8:am every morning and close work at 12:pm in the afternoon. Many of these doctors also have jobs in a federal teaching hospital in the same state and resume work there at 1:pm and close for work around 6:pm. Imagine the salaries from the two places every month. Its no wonder why medical students who are doing housemanship in teaching hospitals dangle car keys here and there because they make at least 160,000 naira every month. Also talk about the pay they get during nysc which is almost six times the pay of other youth corpers. Now when u talk about prestige, medicine is a course that will retain its prestige for ages to come. That's why most girls are crazy for young docs (whether handsome or not). Parents want their children to study the prestigious MEDICINE, doctors command respect wherever they find themselves! The advantages of becoming a doctor are just too numerous. So if u try to downgrade or insult doctors here, it is either u could not get admission into any medical school,u have lost ur babe to a doc,ure not as rich and comfortable as docs or ure just bitter that they are above u in terms of career and other things! I have notting against you nor the doctors. but i doubt if you really know enough doctors in Nigeria to come at that conclusion. |
adeaugustus: Obviously Medicine is not for the faint hearted. The issue with most of this so called doctor is that, they actually went after the money and the prestige, while i consider that part of the reason why you should study medicine, believe me, it's not a good reason to study the course. Here is a break down of why you shouldn't study medicine because of prestige.I agree with you. I was one of those who entered medicine due to familiy push to have a doctor, but after two years i noticed that is not really what i wanted for my self. duo i had serious issues as a young person to let my parents know i want to have a change, yet i insited and changed to biological sciences after which moved on to uk, now i am about ending my masters degree research in biomedical sciences and hoping to start a PhD next year while my mates back in nigeria are still struggling to get there MBBS done. And that makes me belive that those in medicine for the reason of prestige and money should really think twice. All the same medical proffesion is very interesting and engaging but there are many other ways of getting to do what you enjoy other than MBBS espacially in Nigeria. |

you talk like you have forgotten that a wife many times brings good to his husband after their marriage union, SIR please you dont need a job before you will get married. dam it what are you guys drinking down there in Nigeria of late. Gracious10: Ur comment is just appalling! Sorry ooo... Ndo! |
Thank sir. tell him for me. Dipwater: And so f/ucking what ,u can't decide for ur yunger sis,if she wants to marry a jobless man based on love. So! |
I disagree with you the youths should be the last people he gives such advice. Because they will understand it as it is said and end up religion racists and bringing unbalance to ecodiversity of humans sammy102: If the man of God really said all that...well I guess he is just giving an advise to the youth so they won't end up being deceived by some useless liars out there. |
Maybe old age is the issue here i respect you sir you know the problem old age iykak47: |
You must be one of there member i think. tunde300us: There is no source for this news except an hear say from someone who is re-reporting something he heard. And even if the news was true then what is the big deal there. If ur junior sister introduces you to a jobless man and says they are getting married next month abeg where will the money comes from ? because i read someone here say love is based on love not money (that is when you are dating)but when it is approaching the critical part of marriage OGA and AUNTY pls marry a jobless man,na u go buy the marriage ring sef |
the bible said not all that call me master will enter the kingdom and not all who call them selfess prophet of GOD do so with divine power of GOD. Some times i wonder where the powers and on who's authority some of these Nigerian pastors do there work of GOD. Not only did that statement discriminate it also shows lack of knowladge from a man of such standing. Giving condition to love,(money and name of church). No wonder they all own 2-4 private jets. the last time i checked my bible marriage is based on love and love has noting to do with name of church and money. Beloved remember you have the right to question you leader in any christian gathering else you be lead to everlasting agony by a so called man of GOD, people think, read the bible your self don't wait for the super man the pastor to read and explain for you. cry cry cry cry I cry for christianity in Nigeria. Imagine what a pastor could say to youths " DO NOT MARRY OUTSIDE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND DO NOT MARRY A POOR MAN " Where are we heading to, i thought christianity should be more of peace, love and unity than discrimination. |
your mistake was using micro finance bank, when you already no that they will suspect your father or relative been the owner or the MD/CEO perekeme flint: bros, there was no phone call nor email to my bank from what the bank told me.then they bank has written including all their contact details in the letter and have already submitted for the admin review hoping luck smiles on me.thanks |
he should not worry about that. i was not asked any single question when i entered on the 9th
Amen. Well, Border Control may ask for anything. But very rarely would they ask you for prove of funds from the testimonies seen. As many nairalanders who have landed UK recently have testified, they were either asked for just their passport, some where only additionally asked the name of their school and course, none was asked for prove of funds. But you may choose to leave the remaining money in your account and hold like a 1000 pounds in cash as you travel. When you travel and have concluded with opening your UK Bank account, you can send a duly signed mandate via email to your bank in Nigeria with your UK bank details requesting they do a transfer. You may discuss this with your account officer before you leave so that your bank in Nigeria doesn't delay you with trying to authenticate your request et al
|
@perekeme flint why did you use micro finance bank if you have the money. Dapto: Bro,so sorry about the refusal. But it seems d Micro-finance bank u used didn't place you in a good stead with ECO hence,he has to call to verify and not being to established d contact with bank 'nailed d coffin' on your case.Pls,next time use d normal commeercial banks we have around,at least d ECO's are very used to them since they come in contact wit loads of bank statements coming from this banks.AS per d review,u can give it a try and who knows,u may end up smiling once again. |

I can't believe this. After all this fear and tension I entered uk on sunday via manchester air port. And believe me the only word the board agency said was to put my thumb on the scanner and noting else. No questions at all, I did not even show any paper to him other than my passport. Guess I am always lucky. Safe journey for those of you yet to come. |
The introduction of more coins will go a long way in helping the cashless policy already in place. 1. Nigerians don't like coins which means giving them more of it will force them to go cashless ( using pos,ATM and others) because no body will want to carry more coins. Even the 5k note will not be used very often since changing it will get you more coins people will prefer to use mobile banking. In all for the cashless policy to be effective nigerians need something that will scare them away from carring cash which coin will do. . |
