NL1960: No mind the guy. People have been posting rates they got in the last auction. I wonder if he thought everybody did 50m.
I did with GTB in last week primary market auction and the amount i did was less than 50m. I just simply wrote a letter stating the amount and tenor, sent it to my branch and it was done for a rate of 18.1%. Na the upfront interest i wan take pay my pikin school fees today self. there is something I noticed about GTb rate it has never exceeded 18.1%,since the beginning of this year.is this on purpose or they trade above this rate and 'hijack' the excess above that for their company gain. I had to start using Stanbic when it was becoming consistent, who else has noticed it |

Capital247: Madam this is a professionals thread, so stop attack and present your fact.
In the Money market, there is primary and secondary market. What you get in the secondary market is resale of product/instrument bought in the primary market, in which the rates offered are varies.... Please research further Oga I never attacked you and is amusing that this research you want me to embark more ,is what you should have done before disagreeing with my post since you know is a professional thread. I repeat you can get TB lower than 50M from the primary market, the only difference is that the bank bids on your behalf. TB is what I do @least once in a quarter in the primary market and the upfront in the secondary market,so I know what I am saying.I go to strategic location where I can't be tossed around from the staff. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by chyima(f): 11:35am On Sep 05, 2017 |
Capital247: You can not trade below 50m in the primary market......... You can negotiate a good deals with some banks if have above 20m, or better still combine with someone to raise the investment funds to 50m to enable you to trade in the primary market. stop with the wrong information, you can actually get tb for as low as 100K,branches are the only one discouraging it because it doesn't yield high profit for the branch hence they encourage fixed deposit instead, but visting a branch close where high net worth customer reside and where knowledgeable people reside you can't be denied cos they know this people have the information |

this is really absurd,a top organization like that ,I am truly ashamed of Nigeria. soon we complain about how the Lebanese treat us and it will also breaking news on the same TVC,when they have log in their eyes also....seriously is so difficult to believe, washing toilets haba, the least they should have done is not pay the intern but engage them in their area of specialization to gain something meaningful, after they say youth are unemployable but they have refuse to train them. what kind of change do we really desire as a nation?? |

odaniel1: i'm a bit stuck with how u make calculations for your yields, cld u hlp me throw more light? Say i invest 500k just as you have done for 91 days @ 17%....hw much will i be expecting and can i just roll it over to another 91 days tenor and on and on like that? Will appreciate your response maam, tnk u on 500k your return should be about 21250 with 17% as the interest for 91days,yes you can rollover either with your upfront if its above 100k depending on your bank minimum or at the end of the tenure of the existing investment with the initial capiltal I do my treasury bill with stanbic ibtc and they have no option for re investment on their form ,so I invest in the primary market and receive my upfront ,with this upfront I reinvest in the secondary market cos I don't want to have access to the money for now and may not be able to wait till the next bidding in the primary market |

good day all,Pls is there any one who is yet to be debited from stanbic?
I am yet to be debited and the customer service girl informed me when I called that is today, just thinking the 'evils' that will happen on Monday if my transaction wasn't treated |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by chyima(f): 1:05pm On Aug 01, 2017 |
2n2k: Note that stanbic doesn't debit you until your bid is successful and will only debit you with the discounted amount only.
However, it will freeze the face-value of your bid (though still in your account but not available for withdrawal) a day to the bidding day.
There is really no easy way to re-invest thru stanbic, however, if you have surplus amounts in the account to cover it, you can go like the example below
Let us say, you intend to invest N1m face-value at (estimated) bank rate of 18% with a tenor of 364 days
Fill a form for N1,220,000 This is N1,000,000 + N180,000 (i.e. the discount on N1m) + N40,000 (compounding discount on subsequent re-investments till discount get to zero)
Stanbic will freeze N1,220,000 on your account a day to bidding day without debiting you.
A day after the bidding, your account will only be debited with N1,000,000 and other minor commissions.
At maturity, you will be credited with N1,220,000.
Note that your yield is now 22% and not the 18% discount rate. This is called true yield when you reinvest discount at the same rate and tenor as the principal. This is quite explicit, thanks a lot I appreciate |

yes....there wasn't any reinvestment option,so would go along with that option of urs, but if the option was there when reinvesting is it the same primary market rate and tenure that was with the initial amount that will also be applied to the reinvestment |

tunene66: Then do the computation yourself and instruct what to debit. For instance if you have =N=1M and the rates is about 18% for 364days. you can ask that indicate willingness to buy =N=1,215,000 (FACE VALUE) Treasury bills of 364days tenor at 18% is primary market ,and the rate is unknown yet.the customer officer girl had to call the head office and I spoke to the lady over the phone what she explained is that they only discount the full amount I want to invest, that no other option except that |

Let us hear from First bank people pls. from my observation with GTB their rate has never gone above 18.1%,when you don't specify your rate.I had to drop them when it became consistent since late last year.I think stanbic and FBN is better to invest |
