I actually was following this girl on Twitter during the #EndSARS protest and was like "Wow... That's one brave Yoruba girl" When the smoke cleared after the shooting, that was when I read somewhere that her name is Obianuju Something. Then did everything make sense to me. |

https://cryptoinfowatch.com/fresh-contention-about-which-network-inherits-bitcoin-cash-moniker/ There is the worst fork I have yet witnessed. Not just in terms of effect on the coin market, but the main players exhibited the sort of greed not yet seen in the industry. The DAO fork is nothing compared to this. It is obvious that people are now mainly in the decentralized network to become super rich, not that they care what they can offer the society. Satoshi will continue to be a model of good conscience. I'm glad a few persons like Charlie Lee and Buterin are towing that path of selflessness, but all the other... |
It is easy to sense the attitude of different governments and sometimes sub-regions towards digital currencies. For instance, the Indian sub-region is antagonistic (take another look at Pakistan and India, we may even add China). Europe is tolerant but cautious, the US skeptical and aloof, most third world countries looking out for dominant trend, those countries with bad economies accomodating to the point of embrace (Iran, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, etc). Now looking at this article, https://cryptoinfowatch.com/japan-and-australia-continue-to-make-giant-strides-in-crypto-adoption-for-travelers/ it seems the far east are ahead but not quite sure judging from what's happening in the Baltics and Eastern Europe. Why is Nigerian government not talking about this? |

Concerned over the Bitpay policy of concealing Bitcoin payment addresses, a graduate student of McGill University, has built a website which decodes Bitpay invoices thereby allowing users go around the restrictions imposed by the policy. It was uproarious when Bitpay stopped showing Bitcoin addresses users were supposed to pay. The policy adopted a payment protocol that required user installation of local wallets on their devices before using the Bitcoin payment service. This didn’t go down well with many users when the concept was introduced months ago. It is obvious that users did not like the idea of making payments without having idea what Bitcoin address they are paying. More so, not everyone likes the idea of using localized wallets. A Reddit user, U/dbsh2 in a post expressed his concern over the issue saying, “Yes, I understand they are using the standard "bitcoin payment protocol" - but my wallet does not support that. There needs to be a "I am a SUPER-expert" link to get an actual address. Now to pay a bitcoin merchant using bitpay I need to move to a middleman wallet to pay it - thus creating more chain spam and having to pay 2 transaction fees. I think it's fine if they want to use it, but should be optional....when did this happen and where is the outrage?” There are many like that who feel exasperated by the policy. Some feel that Bitpay may be heavily invested in Bitcoin cash and wants to give the coin a boost while there are others who find it annoying that the company made it mandatory for users of their services to have no alternatives making payments. Bitvapors, another Reddit user, who has used the service since 2011 wrote, “I ran into this too. Pretty bad of them to make it mandatory, and no, it doesn't save fees. It causes an extra fee. I was charged a $17 "network fee" and the normal miner fee of $30ish dollars. Bitpay is dead to me…” This no doubt must have cost the service a good number of users. Ashamai, in his view wrote, “So there isn't any way to send from my Ledger Nano S to Bitpay...? I tried to make a purchase from NewEgg and couldn't figure out where my deposit address for the Bitpay incoming transfer was at. Finally just timed out ...” This is one reason decoding the Bitpay invoice became an important issue. A number of sites have worked on the Bitpay payment address decoding, but none has been quite successful until this latest project. A look at the website found at https://bitpaydecoder.org shows that the application actually works. All the user needs is input the Bitpay generated payment address into the required field, clicking on “decode” will reveal the payment address. The user should ensure that BTC is selected on Bitpay while generating the payment invoice address. |

I had what's probably the greatest shock of my professional life last week when a young lady called me for a pest control service at Wuse 2 in Abuja. During the course of our discussion, I asked the usual questions to enable us know the pest threat she faced and she casually mentioned cockroaches and snakes. There was nothing unusual about those and I prepared accordingly. It's nothing unusual because people sometimes see snakes around their neighborhood and would call in experts to keep the crawling creatures away. What was surprising to me was that the lady actually noticed the serpent coming up her toilet bowl while she was taking her bath. Apparently, she screamed and ran out of the apartment shouting to her bewildered neighbors that there was a snake in the bathroom. Curious about this possibility, I did some investigation and discovered that the snake must have randomly crept in though the central sewage system in the Federal Capital Territory. On further inquiry, I found out that this is not as unusual as I thought as another professional colleague told me that he had had similar job with a client who had a snake come into his home via the toilet. I decided to search further and to my consternation discovered that this is a threat faced by people living in big cities with central sewage system. Pests such such rats, frogs, snakes and even squirrels have been known to come into homes through the toilet pipe. There was a case of a New Yorker finding a snake in a 19th floor apartment and another of an Israeli man that was bitten on the penis by a snake when he sat on the toilet seat. This is one reason why you must always look before you seat, especially, if you live in a city with central sewers. In the meantime, be sure that food sources that could be attracting them to your habitation such as mice and rats are eliminated. Termites for instance could burrow underground houses and stealthy compromise the integrity of buildings without being very obvious to occupants. This is why vigilance at the slightest sign of infestation is essential. In any case, you can hands-off all pest handling issues by hiring us to eliminate all menace you face from pests by calling 08180737725. These are some of the pests that could infest your living space and some of the activities that prevent infestation and some remedial measures to ameliorate the situation. Insect Pests Mosquitoes Insect pests such as mosquitoes have been a source of concern to people in the tropics, especially Africa where the disease is reported to kill more than half a million people annually. Interestingly, mosquitoes can be naturally controlled by having an understanding of their life-cycle. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water such as water left abandoned in utensils, water in tanks and wells. Proper sealing of tanks and wells to ensure that female mosquitoes do not lay eggs in them and getting rid of water in abandoned and unattended vessels will contribute to the reduction of mosquito population. This sort of activity requires communal effort since taking care that your immediate environment are free of mosquitoes does not ensure that they wouldn’t migrate from the neighborhood. Communal effort in this regard is a worthwhile venture since we are all aware of the threat posed by mosquitoes as carrier of deadly diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. Recently, we are witnesses of the menace of the Zika virus that caused birth defect in new born in Brazil. An eloquent testimony of the devastation mosquitoes are capable of wrecking in societies if unchecked. Bearing the foregoing in mind, there is a need to control or eliminate these pests or at least prevent them from multiplication through the elimination of their breeding places. This is the essence of pest control. Instances where mosquitoes are already prevalent can be tackled by fumigation. It is one of the most effective means of controlling pests. Call us at 08180737725 for fumigation services in Asaba. Fumigation is the application of gaseous fumes in an enclosed space in order to eliminate pests. These fumes are introduced at a definite temperature and pressure within a period of time. Coackroaches Roaches are among the most prevalent pests in the world and they have very high survival rate. They are the unwanted guests in homes and offices, capable of infesting all parts of the home. Roaches usually operate at night when they search and feed on anything they find edible. They will eat foodstuff in the kitchen as well as feed on paper. One way to tackle infestation is by spraying the house with insecticide. Another is by putting away food and water sources so that the cockroaches in the house die of thirst or starvation. You can do this by putting everything the cockroach could feed on in sealable containers and ensuring that all water faucets in the kitchen, bathroom and toilets are properly closed. Elimination of water sources is an effective means of killing cockroaches that are trapped indoor at home. Equally effective is good hygiene, making sure that the environment is kept clean and that refuse is properly disposed in seal-able bins. Also ensure that the house is not just kept clean but that remnant of food particles is promptly removed. In acute infestations of cockroaches, it is advisable that you call in professional pest eliminators who would track the roaches and eliminate their nesting places around the house. For such services, contact us at PestKill Services. Bedbugs These are biting insects that feed on blood, usually, the blood of humans. Bedbugs live in beds and crevices where they hide during the day and creep out when there is a victim from whom they can feed on. Bedbugs living under or inside mattresses would sense when people are sleeping on such beds and would creep out and feed on their blood by day or night. If the condition is not favorable to live close to the ground or bed, they would find cracks in walls or floor to live in. Sometimes, they take refuge on the higher section of walls in daytime and would come down at night to feed on the sleeping occupants’ blood. The menace of bedbugs stem from their itchy bites, keeping victims restless at night and resulting in tiny wounds. It is likely also that their droppings would contribute to making the sleeping area uncomfortable since they are very tiny and powdery; this implies that they would be inhaled by sleeping occupants of the infested area. Perhaps, the greatest menace of bugs stems from the embarrassment they cause the homeowners. In acute infestation, the bugs will creep out and climb on the bodies of visitors who seat near their nesting places. Bedbug control is challenging to households because of the high number of eggs lain by the female bedbug. These eggs hatch in a short time and the baby bugs mature and in turn lay more eggs. Bedbug population can therefore explode in a short time, especially, when there is availability of food, which is blood meal from occupants of the home. This is why it is essential that professional eliminators be contracted to terminate the bugs as soon as infestation is noticed. To properly treat bedbug infestation, it is necessary that the bug is tackled at all stages of development; eggs through the adult population must be terminated. Contact PestKill at 08180737725 for all fumigation and pest control services in Asaba and environs. Houseflies No one likes flies. Houseflies are usually associated with dead and decaying organic particles. They generally thrive in dirty places and in places where food particles are not properly kept and disposed. In the northern part of the country, flies may be attracted to homes and dwellings due to heat. In hot weather, they tend to want to seek cooler places to avoid daytime heat. In this instance, it may be necessary to screen living places to bar entry of flies. Houseflies are known to be carriers of disease-causing organisms and they usually transmit same to humans by perching on exposed food. To avoid this, it is essential that food is cooked properly before eating. It is essential also that cooked food in plates and pots are properly covered to avoid contact with flies. Utensils should be kept clean at all times before and after use. Flies lay their eggs in decaying organic matter, to keep down their population; it is necessary keeping the environment clean. Organic substances such as foodstuff, herbs and grasses must be properly disposed of in sealed refuse bins. As long as different people have varied levels of hygiene, flies will always find breeding places. Aside keeping the homestead clean, application of chemical repellents will help keep flies at bay. Mites House Dust Mite Dust mites are rarely known by most people because of their size, yet their effect could hardly be denied. These are very tiny dust-like insects that infest homes. Their bites are like very tiny pin-like strikes that could result in swellings due to scratching from the itch. Chances are, you have once lain on the bed and felt itchy sensation on your skin, possibly causing a sleepless night. Ordinarily, you may have felt that the bed cover is dirty and you’re probably right. Dust mites live in tiny spaces in-between bed spreads and would attack and bite the person that lay on the bed. They are not visible to the naked eyes and operate audaciously. This is why home cleanliness is essential. Always wash your bed spreads regularly and do not use bed covers that you have left on the bed and have accumulated dust. When you travel for vacation, be sure to store away your bed covers in places where they won’t accumulate dust. The bed sheet you left on the bed and pillow cases must not be used unless they are properly washed. There are many other types of mites that affect animals, people and crops thereby causing incalculable harm. Their menace stems from the fact that they reproduce rapidly and are carries or intermediate carriers of diseases of plants, animals and man. Like most infestation by pests, the most effective form of control and elimination is chemical control by means of fumigation. Sand Flies sandfly Sand flies are prevalent in areas where there are water bodies. These tiny insects feed on blood of humans and can be controlled through chemical treatment of the environment. Sand flies are known to be the transmitters of the disease called leishmaniasis. Sand flies like other pests inadvertently transmit these diseases and there is need to eliminate them or at least get protected from their bites. Humans, especially mature adults may be aware of the threat of pests such as sand flies. The real danger is not protecting the susceptible such as children and domestic animals such as dogs, goats, cats and poultry. It is essential to be aware that pests such as ticks, mites, bedbugs and fleas could be devastating in their activities because in acute infestation, they could suck the blood of animal hosts to the point that the animal could die of blood loss. The threat in humans and plants is in the transmission of diseases. Fleas It is essential that people regularly fumigate their environment because that is the most effective way of controlling pests. Fleas are small parasitic insects that mostly feed on the blood of the host which may be animal, bird or man. They are important in the transmission of many diseases from animal to animal or from animal to man. Transmission to man occurs when the infected animal dies and there is no animal host nearby to infect. The transmission of the filarial worms of dogs is facilitated by fleas. They are also believed to be the intermediate host of a common tapeworm. Though fleas feed avidly on blood, they have the capacity to survive outside the host pending when they get new hosts. For dog flea infestation as in any other domestic animals, the primary emphasis should be to treat the flea-bearing dog(s), ridding them of fleas before fumigating the kennel and homestead; otherwise, there is a high likelihood of re-infestation. Expertise is required in the simultaneous treatment of the host animal and the breeding site of the fleas. In instances in which the beddings or living space of the animal host is in close proximity to humans and their living area, it is important that the precinct where the fleas may have infected is thoroughly treated with chemical killers of the fleas. Additionally, the fleas at different stages of development are treated with growth inhibitors to ensure that re-infestation is prevented. In cases where the infested dogs are mobile and have had access to the living quarters of humans, it may be necessary to treat the homestead as well. Fleas will feed on human blood if their usual animal hosts are absent. Termites Termites live either in the ground or in wood. They are the insects that feed exclusively on cellulose. This means that termites will feed on any part of a tree or plant. They could extend their feeding activities to logs of wood, timber and planks that found application in building. As long as wood is a component of any structure, it could become vulnerable to termite infestation. There are times also when termite infestation is as a result of having a building right over the termite nest. In such instances, the termites will continue to burrow underneath the building and may cause some structural damages if not tackled. Wooden frames in such structure will likely be attacked and their structural integrity compromised. Controlled chemical treatment and fumigation is the best approach in curtailing and eliminating termites. In wooden structures, it is possible to apply certain chemicals that will kill the termites. Tiny holes may be drilled on timber to ensure proper absorption of the chemical agent. The best preventive measure against termites is proper seasoning and chemical treatment of wooden beams before use. Pests such as mosquitoes, mice, rats, bedbugs, cockroaches, dog fleas are effectively controlled through fumigation. Structural infestation of house timber by termites is also treated by fumigation. However, fumigation has limits in the control of subterranean incursion of termites necessitating other forms of control to halt that. Ants Ants are crawling insects that live in communities. They are what people call social insects in that they associate with one another in a stratified social order. This means that the community of ants are organised in a way that duties and functions are shared according to class. Ant communities are divided into the reproductive adults, the soldiers and the workers. They sometimes live near homes or right in the home if the building was set up near their nesting places. Bites from ants can be particularly painful and invasion from ants is highly undesirable. Effective control is carried out through chemical treatment. Snakes Snakes and humans traditionally have avoided one the other. In times past, snakes territories were distinct from the habitation of man, but with industrialization, snakes, like most wild animals face increasingly shrinking habitat resulting in near no presence in big cities. But in urban areas where their habitat have been removed or encroached on by residence, they could pose a threat to people who unknowingly cross their paths. Snakes live in virtually all regions of the world and inhabit different terrains such as rocks, mountains, deserts, sands, rivers, forests, etc. Some may be benign, in that they do not have venom, but snakes have bad reputation owing to the fact that thousands of people die every year from snake bites. Africa and Asia seem to have the deadliest snakes such as the black mamba and the king cobra. Snakes are better avoided when they are encountered because there are some whose venom can kill in minutes, in cases of survival, the victim could lose a limb. Some of the safety measures necessary to avoid snakes in homes is keeping windows and door locked or screened, keeping the house free from rats and mice which snakes could trail into houses as food source. Use of lighting at night in bush paths would guard against stepping unknowingly on serpents. In areas prone to snakes and when snakes are sighted near homes, there is chemical spray that could be applied to keep them at bay. Be sure to call on a professional pest controller to rid your environment of snakes. Contact Pest Kill at 08180737725. Spiders We all have seen spiders. They are the creatures responsible for spinning cobwebs that you may come across in derelict places. There are spiders whose bites are venomous. This may be the reason why many people do not want them around the home. Another reason may be the fact that the cobweb of spiders make the environment untidy. Besides their traditional function of being used to catch insect prey, people sometimes walk into them. Spiders can be controlled through chemical treatment. Scorpions In areas prone to scorpions, it may be necessary to fumigate the homes to exterminate scorpions which may have found their way into the house. Emphasis should be laid on water veins, valves and other areas in the house where the scorpions could hide such as wardrobes and other dark, humid locations. Effective control of scorpions is carried out in the external surroundings and the best time for control is at night when scorpions come out to feed. A white light caused them to fluoresce enabling mechanical termination of the scorpions. Vermin Rats and mice may well be among the greatest nuisance known to man, especially when then infest living places. Not just are they destructive, they are among the most notorious disease transmitting agents. For instance, rats and mice are vermin that are carriers of diseases that affect man. It is an established fact that a disease such as Lassa fever could be transmitted to man via rats. Their droppings have traditionally constituted a perpetual nuisance are the first signs that indicate their presence. Bubonic plague, the so-called Black Death is transmitted by flea-infested rats. It is obvious therefore that rats and the parasites they bear, aside being agents of disease are very destructive animals and therefore not fit to be permitted to multiply in human habitation. Mice, rats, and other vermin are also effectively controlled by professional pest controlling services. The duration of fumigation may last between six hour and a few weeks, depending on the sort of pest infestation being treated. Fumigation activities find application in homes, offices, factories, aircraft, cargo ships, etc. It is particularly necessary to fumigate cargo ships to prevent the transportation and subsequent incursion of pests across international borders. The level of satanism and atheism in nairaland points to the suspicion that these are actual demons in human bodies. How could real humans not revere an almighty God? |
Hi everyone, I followed your discussion on the possibility of making money online and wish to let you know what I know about this. The reality is that it is very possible to make a living on the internet. The only limitation is in the mind. The way money is made on the internet is not different from the way people make money with their businesses on the street or in the market. The requirement essentially knowing what you want to do, knowing what skills you have, and perhaps finding the people who can pay you for what you have to offer. I will briefly explain to you how you can make money on the internet as a Nigerian. I noticed someone mention selling websites at flippa, that could be possible but it is not as simple as he made it sound. You do not build and just sell websites and make money. In fact, no one will pay you anything substantial for a website you just built. The value of a website is assessed based on the content in it and the quality of visitors it has. For instance, nairaland is a website which has got a lot of visitors in different markets. Many of those visitors are people who are willing to buy things. In other words, they are visitors with the capacity to buy. That means that nairaland.com as a website can generate a lot of money at flippa if the owner Seun decides to sell it. No one buys a website without traffic no matter how beautifully designed. The value is in the quality and quantity of traffic. Before I go further, I must advise all who need to make money on the internet to know that most programmes promising you $5, $10 or whatever a day are absolute scams. Oyibo form of 419, you will do well to avoid them. There is no profit without labour, not even on the internet. You hear things like that, I assure you, they are scams well orchestrated to take your money. Having said that, the ways you can make money online in nigeria can be in two categories; 1. Using your skills and 2. Informing people Let's look at them one by one 1. Using your skills: If you have a skill such as writing skills, web designing skills, typing skills, programming, graphic design, photography skills or any other skill you know people need. There are websites that you can register with and get linked with people who can hire and pay you to do any of those things for them. The company that owns the website ensures you get paid after doing the job. Check websites like elance.com and freelancer.com 2. Informing People: If becoming self-employed or building a big internet business is your dream, you must consider owning a website or a blog. This is because this is how most people making lots of money online are doing it. It is so because most people come online for information. For instance, you are reading this comment because you want to know how you could make money on the internet. The website that informs and give people the information they need becomes very valuable and make money for the owners. There are other details involved in becoming a successful webmaster. You may follow me step-by-step at my latest project at nairaatm.com to see how you too can make money online. Cheers. |
Data entry is a complete waste of time. A day's labour wont even make you $3 when it's all said and done. Your best bet to make money online is to train on internet marketing or better still, content marketing. The potential is infinite. |
The rate at which some fellows harangue Mr Jonathan is disheartening. Remember that he is the president of your country and that he is not solely responsible for our woes. Moreover, the world is watching.Belittling the person equates demeaning the office of the president, and by induction, us all as a nation before the world. Mr Jonathan's presidency may be extirpated. But restoring the dignity of that office may be an uphill task for his successor. It is regrettable that we,Africans keep portraying ourselves to the world as a backward people, incapable of ruling ourselves only to turn around and cry racism when they place us where we inadvertently placed ourselves. Have you ever had immigration tell everyone ahead of you,"You are welcome, have a nice stay", and you, "what are you here for?", just because you're African. We can't even campaign for an election with a sense of civility, nor conduct them without running amok. Yet we expect the world to respect and take us seriously. |
