thanks for answering, do i need visas for all these airlines that stop in their countries? what do you think of atl poe?i used the search button and checked and it wasnt bad, are they preggie friendly? please can i pm you? shame don dey catch me with my one million questions
nefertitiram:
Chai... and I'm not a very good teacher. how we go do am now eh?
Many airlines fly to JFK in New York and Newark is in New Jersey but it's a stone throw to New York. If not that you are avoiding Chicago, as a first time traveller and preggie again, the logistics of changing airport can be tiring.

You can fly air France, klm, turkish, emirates, royal air Maroc, to these destinations but they will first land in their countries before heading to JFK, although JFK remains your POE, then buy domestic ticket that will take you to chicago. But the small issue is on your return, you will be stressed out using JFK out of US especially with your bags, a new baby etc.

And you are looking for cheap tkt if not I would have advised you do Lagos-JFK when going and Chicago - Lagos on your return but it just might cost a little higher than usual.

My dear, thanks....anything below 300k oh grin got 288, but when I wanted to book it was no longer there, wanna leave on the 19th November to come back on the 09 feb 2016 can you help me check please too?
KayLayChi:
What is your budget. I booked and paid for my mum's ticket to California today. I got Virgin Atlantic for 314k for this Wednesday 18th of November, BA was about 320k, Emirate, Turkish were doing BTW 300k-350k. It's better you buy directly from the airline so that it will be cheaper if you need to reschedule. Also Tuesdays-Thursdays are cheaper.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 10:43pm On Nov 13, 2015
Lol! I wanted to let the house know when I landed after POE, cause the interview was to long to type, thank you oh
Any POE? I thought Houston and Chicago were a no no even after you declare childbirth, I read experiences, the problem is I don't know how to check for all the flights, first time traveller, checked wakanow and travelstart but they are still expensive, isn't going to the airline's website expensive? I can't play with dates cause of time sadly.
favoredgal:
congrats Cinakin. for flight you can use wakanow or travelstart to compare and have an idea of what airline works for you, then you can go to the airline's website to crosscheck and play with dates

any POE you choose is fine

and no you dont need a visa to fly BA if you are just transiting

p.s i see the explaining past refusals on your form worked for you

not nice that you always have to be reminded to give back though, first the change of form and now your visa interview.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 9:06pm On Nov 13, 2015
In the spirit of giving back to this wonderful forum, I want share how my interview went in no particular order though

I entered the interview section after waiting for over an hour outside and saw all the rejections, I decided to go pee oh, then I prayed for two minutes. I came out and was directed to where my thumb prints will be taken... Then was directed to join the cue waiting for a VO to interview me, while I was there, I saw sooooooo many rejections, there was a particular white lady on low cut that kept rejecting everybody... I was just praying I wouldn't be sent to her, then I was asked to join window 11, while I was waiting for the VO, he rejected everybody, I was so scared I now decided to run away from him, pretended like I wanted to pee, so that by the time I am done, I'll be re-assigned, but when I came out I was still directed to the same VO( ialmost fainted oh) I just zeroed my mind that whatever happens I'll accept it like that.. Luckily he gave a guy before me, I was so shocked because the guy was just blabbing, didn't have a proper itinerary. Then my turn came* heartbeating* meanwhile baby was kicking seriously and I was uncomfortable, it was written on my stomach and I kept rubbing my stomach.
Was a really long interview, wasn't the usual two minutes. I was shocked.

VO: good morning, hand me your document, and he said "am gonna take your thumb prints now"
Me: I said ok* meanwhile he was reading my form and everything I wrote about how I have strong ties in the "explain why I was rejected section*( been rejected twice)
VO: why are you traveling?
Me: childbirth, vacation and to take my maternity leave.
VO: do you have any contact with the hospital
Me: I said yes, showed him all the five acceptance letters and correspondence I got both from hospital and birthing centers. Meanwhile I brought out all my documents, didn't leave it in the envelope, wanted him to know I came prepared. Lol
VO: can I see your statement, showed him all the statement, about four of them, mine inclusive, then he said he couldn't see the funds in my husband's statement.
Me: I now explained that he transferred the funds to mine, he said ok.
VO: where do you work
Me: I said I work at ****, told him my duties there and that we have properties also and I make extra cash from my side business and I I recently got promoted.
VO: you said you have properties? Where?
Me: I said yes and told him where?
VO: so you have an aunt in Kansas? Is she gonna help?
Me: I said yes, but might hire nanny services
Vo: when are you due?
Me:told him
VO: what does your husband do and where he works
Me: I told him and mentioned all his accomplishments
VO: where is he?
Me: I told him, I didn't know how to answer that in the form, cause he doesn't live there, he is in Boston, that he went for a competition and he was a champion of that completion last year. Mentioned the name* meanwhile I took his passport page that showed his travel history to the us. I showed it to him, he didn't even bother with it.
Vo: will he stay with you?
Me: I said no, the he is scheduled to come back on the 27th cause of work which is the truth.
Then he said pick up your visa on so so so day, I said thank you, he now said if I wanna extend my stay, I should write to uscis and that now that I'll have an American baby, that I should act right cause I'll be traveling back and forth... I now asked if my passport will be ready before *** date cause of my doctor's appointment, he said some visas take time to process, but it should be and I can track my passport. Told him thank you and carried my stuffs and left, didn't even bother to arrange it till I got to the car. I was sooooo happy. People that saw the white paper, congratulated me, I just couldn't believe it... I have no travel history at all.
I am learning so much nairaland, it really helped during the interview, I applied all the knowledge there, am so grateful to everyone that advised and suggested a thing or two... God continually bless you all..
Now to getting cheap flights as I wanna travel next week. Please oh, help

Documents I took:
Letter from company
Pay slips
Promotion letter
Correspondence and doctors letters
Marriage certificate
Bank statements
Letter from my host
Letter from my doctor in Nigeria

Hello from the other side!!! Thanks to everyone who answered me at each point I got stuck. Please I have few questions to ask:
1) I told the vo when I was interviewed that I will be traveling to Kansas cause I had a host there, but I have now decided to go to Chicago because of the cheaper hospital rates I got and flights to Chicago is cheaper than Kansas. Would changing my destination be a problem at the POE or in the future? Although I have correspondence with a hospital in Chicago not a letter of acceptance, they sent their prices and what it covers that's all...Would that be ok at the POE if asked?

2) who knows of any site I can get cheap flights, I intend traveling this coming Thursday to avoid stories that touches the heart as am far gone.34+1

3) what POE should I avoid I learnt from this thread that Houston, Chicago are terrible... I wanna book delta as their POE is Atlanta, is that ok? How about JFK? Does one need a uk visa to fly BA? Help a JJC and first time traveller still learning... Thank you all so much. Awaiting the prompt responses from everyone who has an idea.

Hello ozycy, how many minutes walk should one take? Also I heard Agbo, Lipton and ewedu is good for reducing baby and smooth delivery, intend using a birthing center. So I don't want to have issues during pushing and have to be transferred to a hospital which will cost so much, kindly advise if I should go ahead and take them
ozycy:
my former teamie, It's well with you and your baby. Next week Wednesday is still a long time. During my last preggy, I was scheduled for induction the next day and b4 time for the induction, my baby decides to port on her own without being induced. Infact I ve been threatened to be induced in all my preggy except this last one as I always pass due date even dou non of the induction threat never came to pass. All this baby scan weight tin ain't always correct, I also got 4.1 kg as baby's scan weight even dou she came weighing less. You are supposed to be taking long walk as often a possible, you can still start now as it's not late yet. Lastly, talk to your GOD as he will never ever fail you. My prayers are with you.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:29am On Nov 12, 2015
Yes! Phema, thanks a lot...
Phema:
Dunno if this has been handled.

Your contact person should be your host, same for the contact address. The relationship is the relationship between you and your host. Is s/he a friend, uncle, aunty, cousin etc?

Your contact organisation should be your hospital's/Dr's office (either address or phone number).

For burden of proof, please refer to page 105 of part 1.

My dear... Thanks a lot... Please can I pm you?its urgent.. Learnt your entire bill is less than 5k?
ozycy:
@ cinakin,
I think you should explain why you were denied in the space provided if you hav any idea. I explained mine after I was refused and yes the VO read it thoroughly and was nodding before she looked up to ask me the normal routine questions. I assume she v already made up her mind to issue the visa after reading my reason for refusal.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:26am On Nov 12, 2015
Thank you so much favoredgal...
favoredgal:
This is an opportunity to explain ur case and put urself in a good standing before u meet the vo

Yes u don't know exactly why u were denied but u have idea. Use the space to tell the vo what has changed in ur circumstances btw then and now

For example my husband had been denied twice and I assumed it's because he had an immigration case pending even tho they dint tell him. When we got married and I filled his form I used that space to explain why he isn't a flight risk, married, good job, earns x amount etc, for the first time ever during his interview his pending immigration status did not even come up and he got the visa

So for people that have been denied before that is the most important part of the form in my opinion
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:23am On Nov 12, 2015
Thank you Lady G, don't mind me, I just needed answers. God bless
LadyGuinivere:
I agree with him.
IMO u have no biz with your host's place of work. Keep it simple.
Fill contact which is ur address. Leave the other. I don't believe I filled it.
Free advice @ Cinakin : calm down. You are sounding panicked
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:20am On Nov 12, 2015
Thanks a lot
whiiteroses:
Burden of proof are all the documents needed for visa interview. It is also used at the POE to show the CBP or when sent to secondary inspection, showing them you are well prepared. For example
Doctor's correspondence, Budget sheet
Fit to fly, notification/change of intent letters to and from the embassy, statement of account etc to mention a few... or any other documents that you think would be necessary. @cinakin the above answer applys to you too.

For MIHS, you have to call or email them to clarify that.
The word 'port' means to change from one doctor or state to another. For port health someone mentioned something relating to that some pages back. I hope this helps
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:18am On Nov 12, 2015
Thanks for answering...
shawlar:
Use ur host place of work... although personally, I feel that space is for if an organisation is hosting you
Also use ur hubby as sponsor on the form. You can explain to the VO verbally if you'll be co-sponsoring... Point out the transfers 4rm ur hubby on the statement if necessary
As for the denial, I don't really know cos I've not been denied b4 wink but I don't think they give explanations to peeps as to why they were denied sha)
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:16am On Nov 12, 2015
Hello, please what did you use to apply for the naija passport and how did you go about it?, a friend of mine said it can't be done since the baby has a us passport...
OsyCollins:
Thanks, they got the BC & Naija passport yesterday but couldn't go to the US passport office. I want to find out which exact office did u get d US passport from (in 24 working hours) ? Cos they went online for appointment & got 13th Nov & she said they claimed it takes 5 working days after the appointment. While the post office said 3--4 weeks. Just need a Lil guidelines on d US passport ASAP, sorry for always bugging you, guess you are the one closer home the most wink
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cinakin: 2:12am On Nov 12, 2015
Thank you so much...
Adiahabasi:
I wrote section 214b..i.e the reason for denial...no need for unneccesary story.keep it simple.. If d VO asks verbally sef,if i were you I would say I don't know why I was denied(in actual sense..they dont give a specific reason..so one can never be so sure). As for sponsor put in ur husband...if asked you can say both of you verbally..I stand to be corrected but i think your dr should be your contact person since that's the primary reason for the trip.
