Career / Marriage Or Career Which Comes First: Ladies Question For You All ... by cipslim(m): 5:56am On Nov 23, 2019
I understand that when it comes to sensitive topics like marriage and career especially for women, a lot of people have different opinions. Whatever your opinion is I do respect it; different things work for different people. Without much ado, let get into it.

Women who want to have kids should make it a high priority in their early twenties – late twenties to find a “partner”, (Note, I quote a partner, not a husband, as much as I am pro-marriage, it’s just not for everyone and not all women want a husband). According to statistics, it’s harder for women in their late thirties to get married.

Another big reason is because of the pressing issues facing Generation X: infertility. We are experiencing more women having issue with getting pregnant naturally and the cost of IUI or IVF is not getting any cheaper. Honestly, you have your whole life to get a career and you can even change career at any time in life. This is not true about having a baby.

If you are already in your 30s, single and want to have kids, you need to find a partner now. Take that career drive and direct it toward mating because your career skills will outlast your ovaries.

As much as I believe women should not be pressured into getting married as most African parents or families do, the reality is the woman’s biological clock is running. However, there is lots of evidence to show that a woman’s biological clock takes a nose-dive from age 35. A huge percentage of fertility statistics get bad at 35.

Health / Finally, Hope For Sickle Cell Patients by cipslim(m): 5:03am On Nov 10, 2019
Sickle Cell disease has been an incurable disease for a lot of people in Nigeria, Personal I have lost friends and neighbors to Sickle Cell. It has broken families and people in love have been denied marriage due to both carrying sickle cell trait and the fear of giving birth to a child with sickle cell disease.

Sickle cell disease is a group of genetic disorders that cause red blood cells to become hard and sticky, taking on the form of a sickle. When these cells travel through small blood vessels, they can get stuck, causing pain, crisis, infection, and stroke.

According to WEBMD Health News, A man by the name of Lynndrick Holmes, 29 from Mobile, AL is free of sickle cell disease after receiving gene therapy for 2 years as part of a clinical trial.

Educational Services / Where Can Nigerians Study Abroad For Free? by cipslim(m): 4:37am On Nov 06, 2019
While university fees continue to rise in North America and Europe, some of you might be thinking that getting a recognized degree qualification abroad, is simply impossible without having a lot of money at your disposal, or without obtaining a scholarship.
You’ll be pleased to hear that this isn’t necessarily the case. There are few countries that would let Nigerian students ‘study abroad for free or for a very affordable amount. You just need to know where to look.
Nigerians can study for free in Germany. students can work part-time while schooling, so you won’t have any issue supporting yourself. You might also be able to send a few hundred Euros home to help your friends and family while studying… Cool

Investment / My Cryptocurrencies Journey And My Top Altcoins by cipslim(m): 10:54pm On Nov 05, 2019
The internet has created more millennials millionaires than any other things. It is the greatest invention in my opinion and gives everyone no matter where you are in the world access to abundant information, knowledge and collaboration.

One of the trending things on the internet now is cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin and Altcoins). A lot of people that invested in Bitcoin earlier have made so much money. The price of Bitcoin is so high now I wish I had invested earlier.

Even though the price of bitcoin is high for me right now and I believe it will keep going higher in the long run. I think the cryptocurrency is still in the early stage and there are some good altcoins with good projects and potential to make a lot of money, I personally like the risk to reward of crypto (10x – 100x).

Investing in cryptocurrencies comes with a significant amount of risk. It’s highly speculative and volatile. You can lose all the money you invest in crypto. This is not a financial advice.

Do you hold or trade any Altcoins ?
Which Altcoins do you trade or hold ?
Why do you think these Altcoins will make any money ?

Check out my top 6 altcoins that i invested in and my reasons for investing in them:

Nice questions ... I guess The Topic should have been (3 Questions An Interviewer Wants To Hear After An Interview for Fresh Graduate or Entry Role)...
You hardly get a CEO interviewing anyone these days, They don't have all the time and even if they want to interview anyone, Its definitely One of the top management role... Directors, COO, Head of Sectors, or Head of Department, EA etc....not even Managers.
In a One man Business or small firm... maybe CEO can interview everyone. Maybe…

Just my opinion from my experience… I might be wrong

Mekurexx:
I saw your posts about schooling in UK. its a very long time. I got admission to Uni of Sunderland for MSc Environmental Health & safety & also Uni of Chester (Global health). which do you feel I should pick if you were to advice me? thanks

Hi there,

Congrats on your admission, Honestly I can't just tell you to pick Sunderland or Chester. There are a few factors you need to look into.
If I were you I would look into the following factors like

1. Both Courses (Global health or Environmental Health & safety) -- I don't know much about either courses. I assume you know alot more than i do in both field. Which one do you prefer more ? What are the Job prospects in the field ?

2. Tuition fee -- which school is less expensive, Honestly when I did my MSc, I picked Sunderland because it was a bit cheaper back then.

3. Grants --- Pardon me, If you are rich, but I got a £1750 or £1550 grant from Sunderland Uni, I needed the Grants at that time, Check both schools and see if they give grants

4. Community -- I have been to both Sunderland and Chester, both are good places, Sunderland can be a bit colder in Winter, not good for me cause I still hate the cold after all these years, but if you like football remember Sunderland is in the premiership and Newcastle is less than 20 mins away, Newcastle is amazing, The Geordies (people from Newcastle and surrounding areas) are very nice and accomodating with good night life.

5. Friends and Family -- Do you have friends and families in UK, are they closer to Sunderland or Chester ? Never underestimate friends and families in a foreign country, They can help you settle in faster.

6. Cost of Living -- Both places are cheap but DYOR (Do your own Research) one might definitely be cheaper than the other.

7. Pray to God -- Pray about both Schools, You need to be where you would be favored.

8. Pack your Stuffs and get yourself to England in one piece... lol Sky is your limit and Its also a fair play here.
Feel free to ask any question.

Romance / Re: 15 Types Of Men To Avoid Dating! by cipslim(m): 9:42pm On Aug 07, 2013
Honestly.... Who came up with this lists, it all sound good but let us be a bit realistic. Ladies have to fill out a check list before dating a guy? I don't expect any lady to jump into a relationship with a man who is a loser. I would expect the lady to have standards and know what she wants but not to go by the so call check list or magazines.

The other day I saw a magazine with cover saying 20 ways to please or satisfy your Man by some random lady in the opposite side of the planet. I don't read dem kind of stuffs but it all doesn't make much sense to me. There will never be 20 ways to please a man... It’s just 4 ways to please a Man and no more (I stand to be corrected on this).... tbh, Ladies we talking about your man who should know him better not some random woman that doesn't even know your man.

I pray God help us all...

@SATI

I am afraid you can only do 10 or 20 hours part time Job with your student Visa.. Not sure if you can get a telecomms contract job with that.. You need a proper Work Visa to get any good contract job..

SAT1: @cipsli; see my loads of questions above oh! Am counting on u man

Leeds University is a good school and the city is a nice place and you will be fine. I don't think it will be difficult for you to get a job from your experience in Telecomms...Honestly i have never work in a Telecomms company... even though i have a masters in telecomms engineering.. I have work with more banks and other industries mainly in ICT Department, It might be due to my lack of work experiences in the field.

The only difficult part is you getting the necessary papers to work or getting a job with a company that would sponsor your work visa. You will probably get a nice pay if you have a working visa after your Msc, doing a Contract job... Contract Jobs for Telecomms Engineer pays between £250 - £400 a day... (you can check on jobserve)... i got all my jobs through jobserve.com... I apply for jobs on the site and the agency call me to arrange for interview...

For now i would say you should worry more on getting here, ready for your course and the most important thing is adjusting to the system here

Hi,

I do understand now... Being an only child makes it more complicated and Marriage is kind of a big deal for us... Like i said earlier, It your call... and you know what is best for you, if you are religious, you can pray about it on your own.

I might be wrong but i guess you are the type that worries alot, I can't tell you not to worry... if i am being realistic.. we are all humans and we do worry over every little thing, but try worry less because if you look back into your life "you will smiled and Remembered that today is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday"...

Dating And Meet-up Zone / Re: Please Advice!!! by cipslim(m): 12:01pm On Jul 25, 2013
Hi...

First I need to ask these questions... What are your reasons for thinking that an Urhobo girl shouldn't get married to an Esan man? What is so terrible about Esan..?(I am not even Esan..Yoruba) Are the Urhobo ladies forbidden from marrying Esan men?

Secondly... marriage is more about maturity, patience, endurance, forgiveness and tolerance. No one said the Journey into Marriage is going to be easy or perfect.... There will be time in every marriage when the couples get fed up of each other and want to go different ways but maturity, patience, endurance, forgiveness and tolerance keeps it going.. Mind you when you get over that stage, Things will be fine.
I am a guy but there is one thing I definitely know about marriage.. " If a marriage works, It’s the woman that have done the hard job"

Thirdly... I have seen one, two, many marriages... Some of same ethnic, same language, same village and it all end up broken... Esan Men might have a so called Reputation.. That doesn't mean every Esan man is bad... An Urhobo Man wed an Urhobo lady doesn't mean it will end well or last more than 2 years. My dear it’s not about where the man or woman is from.. It’s more about the individual... Does the fellow have a good heart, Is the fellow someone that i can accommodate at my moody days .. does he or she makes me happy.. Do I see myself living and waking up to this fellow... when is little or nothing can I withstand or share with him or her.. There are more questions like this and I stand to be corrected ... I thinks marriage has more to it that just tribe or ethnic..

Lastly I live in a place where divorce and separations is a door bell.. where man get adviced not to get married... yet I quote from Socrate "By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher." likewise for Women too..

Back to your Question....
I don't know if you are on the Right Track or Wrong track... I am not sure if anyone can answer that question better than you... You know what you want better I assume.
Kindly stop thinking negatively... You are going to a marriage (a whole life long journey) and you having notion that it might not work in 10 years’ time... Please think positively.. have little faith and be determined, it will surely work out for you best....

Cheers

Lakehay21:

The social life in Sunderland is not bad but nothing compared to bigger cities like Newcastle. But be rest assured that there are clubs, cinemas and other attractive places to visit like the National Glass Centre which is very close to the St. Peter's campus. You can also visit the beach, in fact a lot of people chose the University of Sunderland for its closeness to the beach. The people of Sunderland are very nice and friendly people... it won't take too long before you blend in. They are always willing to help. The University has ties with Sunderland Football club so at intervals they give out free match tickets. I watched Sunderland vs QPR free of charge last season. I also watched the match against my fave team Man Utd. Some guys got a free tickets to see the game against Chelsea too. still on the social life, The Stadium of Light hosted a series of concerts last week featuring popular artistes like JLS, Bon Jovi, Rita Ora, Amelia Lilly, Rihanna , David Guetta and James Arthur.

The general peacefulness and security of the city of Sunderland makes it an ideal place to study. The university runs a free bus service for students and staffs to travel around the city, so you don't have to own a car or spend so much taking taxis. The uni also provides a bike hire scheme. There are wide varieties of courses to choose from at Undergrad and Post grad level with relatively affordable fees. Top-class library facilities that run 24/7

It is possible to survive on £30 a week, but you need to decide what kind of foods you eat first. Cost of living in Sunderland is one of the cheapest in the country.

I live in uni hall of residence (Clanny House) as an undergrad on a 40 weeks contract. Cost of accommodation in the uni halls depends on your choice of hall (Clanny, Precint, Panns Bank and Scotia Quay) and the size of your room plus the location. You can find out more info on this at the uni website: http://www.sunderland.ac.uk . So the choice is yours. You may also wish to consider other housing options. But the advantage of the uni accommodation is that you'll get to meet more people, and more importantly the rents are all bills inclusive- so you don't have to spend extra on internet, heating and electricity. All are covered in your rent.

The University of Sunderland was among the 5 universities shortlisted for The Times Higher University of the year 2012. Ranking wise, the university is not doing badly. Lectures are delivered in the best possible atmosphere with access to lots of Learning Support services.

Jobs are scarce though, it's a general thing in the UK. But with God and right connection of friends and contacts with recruitment agencies, finding a job won't be too difficult. The university also post vacancies on its Career and Employability Service website. The CES also provide students with interview tips and other useful information to help them get a job. My honest opinion is that you don't really cast too much gaze or spend too much time looking for work with big brand recruiters like ASDA, Tesco, Primark etc. If the opportunity comes, take it. But don't waste too much time waiting for such jobs. If you can do factory works, they are easier to get. It is difficult finding jobs in SUnderland being a relatively small but vibrant city. But its closeness to Newcastle affords you more chances of getting a job around. All my friends work in Newcastle.

The weather in North East England too can be very cold.
I hope that you find this information useful, please let me know if you have any more question.

@Lakehay21

The people of Sunderland are NICE.. Where did you get that from... I finished from University of Sunderland, St Peter's Campus (Telecomms Engineering).. The people of Sunderland ain't nice at all... I don't want to go into the stories here..
But the Uni have lots of nice lecturer and staffs willing to help anyone....

Hey Zuby..

Nice piece, I am really impressed.

What is this big deal about everyone mourning about this University degree of a thing ?? I have been to 2 Universities in one in Nigeria and the others in the United Kingdom. I am not even half smart as you are or do i have one-quarter of the money you must have made.

I am not saying University degree is bad... University degree had its good side too especially if you are in Nigeria or you are bent on being a career person... It has actually help me work in multinational companies, pays my bills and let me travel to different places for holiday... but still I'm not rich or have had time to be adventurous as Zuby... wink It is no big deal really to me.

According to me university is just a place where you go and waste 4 or more years of your memorable time in other to get a certificate and find a job. Most of what is taught in a first degree have nothing to do with the kind of job you will do or helps in real life matters. 2nd Degree is even worst cause they only lecture you on How to write and not plagiarised atleast that is what we get here in United Kingdom.
