Dude, your own version of history ehn, I wonder where you are pulling 'em out from. Eboh is the old way of spelling Igbo. This just metamorphosis of words over time. So if Oluada is not Igbo, why did he mention ichi marks wore by the nri nobility? Why do you guys like twisting history just to suit your political purpose?
read and balance my comment. Igbos concluded that Eboh was the old way of spelling Igbo because of Equano's book but they may be wrong or right. I don't know if there's any other proof of that being the old way of spelling Igbo. But I can tell you categorically that Eboh is the right spelling of Aboh. That's how the Ukwanis and surrounding areas pronounce it. Reason some people are of the opinion that the Ebo he talked about was Aboh and not Igbo.

But as for the Ichi marks, that's one of the reason some scholars said he's not from Aboh because many of the things he wrote about don't t exist in Aboh. Some ascribe different origins to him and me that knows little about the subject find it hard to know which version to go for because all of them have valid points. Now you see how confusing it all is? So don't try to use this as a valid argument of Anioma Igboness. He never called himself Igbo. That's just my point

You, ehn, you talk like a sissy sometimes... what makes you think Igbos are not aborigine to places like Asaba, Onistha, Oshimili and the rest, before the arrival of other group? Have you read the narrative of Oluada Equino..... researchers have drawn conclusion, that he was actually from Western Igbo. He made references to Idu influences on his people and other practices that are prevalent in places like Ndokwa of today.
Don't forget that Oluada referred himself as an Igbo in his write-up.
This was before anything like Nigeria came into existence.
Asaba was founded by Igala, Onitsha was by Bini, there is no place like Oshimili, many towns in Oshimili say they're from Bini and most of the Ndokwas say they're from Bini and other Bendel groups including Esan, Urhobo/Isoko, Ijaw, and Anioma areas.

As for Oludua of a guy, nobody knows where he's from. I even read a debate by Osita Mordi and some Igbos where they were analysing this topic. Many of the things he wrote about didn't add up. If you're vast in Igbo history you'll understand what I mean. He was too young to have known most of the things he wrote about.

And Oludua never called himself Igbo. He said he was Ebo. If actually he is Aboh, then Aboh is what he meant by Eboh because the real name of Aboh is Eboh. The name is still in use in the Ndokwa Ukwani area till date

Oh, my apology, please. This solidify my position on the fact that Delta Igbos are migrant from different direction, but Igbos having the upper hand because of proximity, early aboriginal movement and population. So, ibu diali. smiley
there's no aboriginal movement by the Igbo in Anioma. If there is any upper hand, it's population. Igbos population and influence is far far higher than Edo's and Igala's put together. And Igbos are known for exporting their language and culture wherever they go. And colonialism, Christianity and music, movies have a role to play.

The Ika were already engaged in the ekumeku like ten years before the British sacked Idu. Lemme ask you some questions undecided
1]why'd Ika soldiers leave the ekumeku war they were engaged with the British and then send aid to Idu,when princely states of the ekumeku military alliance were not finding the war easy?
2]if Idu had some influence like you claimed(unlike Benin, Nri wasn't a military power but a religious one, similar to the papacy of Igboland), why didn't they send reinforcements for the 10+ years the ekumeku war had been on before the sack of Benin in 1897?
3]if Idu had any influence like you claimed, why did the war go on for another 17 years after Idu was sacked by Britain?
4]why didn't the Ika surrender like the ishan did when Idu was sacked but rather they kept on fighting?
5]if you deny Nri influence, why did Anioma resistance collapse suddenly after the disgrace of 1911? Before 1911 the British were not making any headway in the war but suddenly started making headway after 1911,what changed the equation??
Can you gimme honest, logical answers to my queries?
1. The Ekumeku war wasn't going on non stop for 3 decades. Before the Ikas and Ishans could send soldiers to go help Bini out, there definitely should be little or no battle going on in Ika land during that period.

2. The early 1980s was a very turbulent period for Ika and Bini. Like I said earlier, the relationship between Ika and Bini was a love hate relationship with lots of revolts coming from the Ika people against the Binis. The Ikas and Edos were constantly having problems and settling just like brothers do. The Oba of benin wouldn't have sent soldiers to help a revolting Ika people. I will use the case of a father and son as an example. If you have a father that's too disturbing and you as his son is very stubborn, a trait you probably got from him, do you think it's possible for you to work together? He will eventually run away one day and should something happen to him, it will be to at your discretion to send help to him or not.

3. After Idu was was sacked, Bini people became friendly to the British and Bini people were sent to Agbor district (later Ika District) as representatives. This was around 1990s. Out people were constantly having problems with these Bini people and some were even killed. Ika people became antagonistic to the Edos and the British, this almost saw the Edos and the British on one side and Ika and other Aniomas on the other side. This further explains the constant fighting and settling and the love hate relationship I talked about. And also the Bini/Agbor/Owa politics I talked about.

4. Don't be a straight line thinker. All events have reasons why they happen and you can't understand all explain all reasons. That the Ishans surroundered doesn't mean the Ikas should do same.

5. This number 5 is the most ridiculous question and you don't expect me to answer that. Very amusing.

Why'd I twist when all I've to do is present them as they're huh
Ikas are a proud nation...they just the Bulgarians and Serbians who resisted Ottoman aggression have resisted Benin aggression for 400years. So for me as a fellow Anioma to see some Ika pandering to Benin makes me sick undecided and I wonder how our fathers who resisted Idu would feel in the netherworld they're now cry
Am not strange bro...just being real cool
The Ikas are really a proud nation. Yes, when the Binis got guns and other weapons from the Portuguese, they became tyrannical and started terrorizing all their neighbors and the Ika people resisted them a great deal. The relationship between Ika and Edo has always been a love hate relationship but does this take away the fact that we are brothers? This is not even just brotherhood. We're broke out from them.

Even the Aros that came to the Anioma land with guns tried terrorizing and inciting the natives against authorities of the land before they were chased out.

The manner the founders of most Anioma Kingdoms left Bini wasn't a peaceful one so there's animosity and bad blood between us and the Edo people. That brothers quarreled doesn't stop them from being brothers.

intreasting to hear of the ekmeku war but thoguh i dont believe the story even the story eze nri that ibos just propagating now is something else but i dont think the ekumeku war against the british really made effect compare to the one idu gave the britsh thats y even when the queen of england visit it doesnt really give a dem about the people who fought the ekumeku war against them all i see is propagting stories which was hyped by the igbos and for the record in the full africa idu still remains the hardest kingdom british could colonized even when bretrayal was with the idu my area i stay in benin is close to a moat that swalloed hundreds of british soldiers i will recomend you to go read bini history
Actually, it's surprising when I start seeing the Igbos trying to take glory for the Ekumeku war. They were never part of the war but now I see them taking glory for it. The Binis gave the British s a very hard time so also the Aniomas. We the Ikas has been described as the most warlike /warrior like part of Anioma region by many historians. I think the British /Edo war saw more British casualties than Anioma /British war but the fact that Anioma was able to sustain the war for such a very long time coupled with the sense of brotherliness and oneness of the Anioma makes it a thing of pride for us.

I was told the Ekumeku war became fiercest after some Ika and Ishan soldiers that jointly trained to go help Bini returned without fighting any battle because the war ended abruptly before they got there. This's part of the reason I was telling Cheruv of Bini influence in the Ekumeku war.

Idu didn't send any reinforcements biko...even if we were allies, how'd Idu send reinforcement when they were under effective British occupationhuh This is similar to the Axis powers after may 1945..how can imperial Japan expect aid from Nazi Germany when we all know the Nazis surrendered to the Allies on may 11,1945 and maybe like in June 1945 Japan would now be expecting help from the Nazis... That's a no brainer undecided
Moreover, when Anioma resistance collapsed, the British divided up Anioma and placed Ika under direct Idu overlordship to placate the Bini on account of 1897. All the Bini men sent as satraps/administrators to the various Ika princely states were murdered one after the other except in few places. This event is what pushed the Brits to leave ika in asaba division instead of the planned move to Benin division.
This your comment corroborate my point. Bini people sent to Ika areas were Killed, British administrators were killed too. That's just a little about the Bini/Owa/Agbor politics I was talking about.

I never said Bini sent reinforcement for Anioma but the British sent reinforcement from Bini against Anioma. Bini wasn't directly involved. There's no where I said that. I wouldn't have involved Bini in Ekumeku war if not you that was trying to link Nri which didn't know there was an Ekumeku war going on. My point in mentioning Bini was to tell you if there is any outsiders that were involved in the Ekumeku war, it's the Binis and the Esan. Do you know that as mighty as Agbor Kingdom was that time, there were not much involved in the war? I'm sure you know why.

The Ekumeku war, seems to be the last resistance to British incursion into Southern Nigeria. If the Ishan and Binis influenced the movement, as you claimed, please do justice by presenting facts.
you people are mistaking the Ekumeku movement as a single movement. Bini and Esan didn't play any direct role on it but do you know we were under Bini province ? I've read like three to four sources from different parts of Anioma concerning the Ekumeku war and none of them I mean NONE mentioned any Ishan or Idu town as participant to the war of resistance. The westernmost town of the alliance was Agbor while Onicha Ado was the easternmost town of the ekumeku military alliance. Even the Bini recognized Ika as being Igbo and you're here claiming otherwise. Bini colonized Ika as a result of the conquest of 1577,so its expected to see heavy Edonization of Ika but claiming that Ika is Edo is similar to saying that Yeshua was not Jewish but Arab undecided
Concerning the bold, Ika are not been Igbonized rather they're returning to their true identity which is Igbo. This identity was suppressed after the conquest but since the Ika regained their independence, its only natural that their true identity would gradually come back to the surface cool
I don't know what to call you. There was no form of conquest. Some communities in Ika are more than a thousand years old and even before this time, the founders of these communities are already practicing Bini culture and bearing Bini name. Was it your imaginary 1557 conquest that affected then more than a millenia ago?

Almost all of the Ika communities founded in the 15th and 16th century that have Bini origin were founded by Benin royal family members that were running away from persecution or execution. Was it this men running away from their Kingdom that conquered Ika in 1557? Bini Kingdom of old experience lots of turbulent time within the Palace and lots of people from royal families were fleeing. That's how they founded many of the Anioma Kingdoms

I can give you hundred lists of Edo words that was in use in Ika area about 2 or 3 decades ago that have totally been replaced with Igbo words. It's only the elders that still use some of these words.

The Ika we speak today is not the Ika of 5 decades ago. The Ika spoken in those period are highly mixed with Edo and Igbo word but now all the Edo words are fast disappearing

It seems you don't know anything about Ali Ika...how can the communities be ika and then speak ika as second languagehuh
You're Bini and not ika...but even then you're deficit in Bini history and its relationship with the ika. Concerning the igbanke, you've seen that am more on ground there than you. In fact you can't be Ika and not be bothered that Igbanke which is an Ika community has lost its language to Bini angry
Do you lack comprehensive ability? In my posts I've been making it clear my point is not if these communities are Ika or not. They can be Bini people losing their language or just speak Ika as a second language. Some of these people are mixed as well. And again, how can one distinguish between Bini people that speak Bini from Ika speaking Bini people when originally Ika was of Bini stock? Same culture and same everything including migration stories just different times.

What do you know about igbanke? I didn't even talk about Igbanke except when I corrected you about there correct name so how did you know much about them? How is Igbanke losing their language when there language was more Edoid than it is now? Ika language including igbanke was more Edoid and getting Igbonized day by day.
