In Nigeria ecosystem fewer game developer Jobs because of low revenue. If you want to become successful your target should be abroad. Low earnings from ads or inapp-purchase if you can't promote it because of the competition Only few games becomes successful.

Animation takes lots of time to build and learn . Someone I know someone who did a simple 2d animation with MOHO in 3 months . It will take months or years to create full fledged cartoon depending on the resolution, framerates and complexity of animation that the will determine the size of the rendering. You need money to fund your tool and graphic card about 16GB or 32 RAM using 1TB SDD/HDD.
If you Lack patient the career is not for you .

Rendering

post production like adding voice over and video editing for final released.Export your final animation in a suitable format for distribution.


It will cost $50k-400k depending if it is 2d or 3d.For 2d you can use Moho which is easier than blender, Maya ,3dmax and zbrush which is in 3d animation.

Lol even with a pro course from Coursera it would take him months to learn blender. Easier said than done . Also he would need a very powerful PC

I don't think Nigeria has a game studio with motion capture software and suits to create games like god of war ,halo6 , star and star war realistic game with game engine like unity or unreal . Most game don't design the fight combination from scratch they use motions capture especially big game projects

Nigeria has a long way to go so sad. I saw some Nigeria 3d cartoon animators all the video on YouTube is less than 10 minutes because they don't have Nvidia or AMD GPU for rendering it to longer time frame like 1 to 2 hours+ .

Yes if your skill set is animation with blender or or 3dmax or Maya and C# programming which is in the scripting .it is better to use blender because it is Free to use .
it will cost you more if you have multiplayer
game using photon or any server in unity you have to pay in USD to cut down cost offline version is cheaper.

He can't make a game like mortal Kombat, maybe watered down version. But it will take him months and lots of money.

Dear Nairalanders, so I was born in Nigeria and have lived all my life in this country till this moment ( I'm 22 now). However, my aunt based in United States has offered to bring me to the country. Processing my documents already.

However I'm scared I may put me or her family in trouble when I get there cos America is a civilized country and I'm used to the crude ways and behaviors here which is already part of me and will likely replicate them in America which will surely put me in trouble with the law.

I started as a game dev and 3d models + animator.

Actually I started with animation, before I moved to game dev with unity using the Java language...

It's was a tideos and amazing routine, untill I lost my job and source of livelyhood.

I later became so broke, I had to sell my lapi to invest in other biz...

That's how my game dev and etc ended..
