My guess is that this guy is trying to preempt a leak |
Same mentality they claim to be against . Even if you are hungry .Why take two ? |
What exactly are they protesting against? What policies exactly are they against? Nigeria was headed towards a crash which would have been catastrophic had Tinubu not taken those decisions. What would have happen if those decision had not been taken. One word = GREECE We all know the credit worthiness of the country was already in doubt. Recurrent expenditure (salaries) was already swallowing 95% of the federal government revenues as far back as 2013( Yes ,Jonathan messed up the country’s finances).Even the Chinese who were all too willing to lend started developing cold feet. Nigeria would have been forced to sell her assets for peanuts ( the very assets that you needed to recover) . You would have become poorer(destitutes) in your own country. Those things that consider expensive would have been unavailable because there would be no forex available to import anything . Subsidy So the government should keep borrowing money to pay subsidy thieves Naira value Should we keep allowing the foreign exchange cartel to keep pilfering the treasury based on the difference between the official rate and the black market rate .Some people were making more than 50 million naira on this scam alone. It is like collecting the breast from a teething baby ( in this case an over pampered adult). Nigerian need to face the reality.Nigeria is a poor country . It used to be that we had some very bright minds in our midst . That seems lost. I gave up long time ago .When I saw the share amount of energy being devoted to IQ reducing programs like Big Brother Nigeria., I concluded that we have lost a generation . Do not forget that the generations we lost and we are still losing to religion to fake pastors and imams.Men and women wasting their most productive years waiting for miracles and not doing the hard graft. My dad’s generation would have been applauding these reforms .Every sector of the economy that you look at is occupied by a cartel of some sort. |
Fantastic. He is applying the bitter pills .They are bitter to swallow but necessary . The alternative would have been disastrous. Nigeria was trending towards Zimbabwe 2.0 since 2010. The appetite of a rich country but the revenues ,social and physical infrastructure of a pauper . |

This is one of the reasons why they sponsored obi and Atiku and were dead against Tinubu becoming president. All those feeding fat on the FG knew they will be put on a diet . Just one big racket . |
Also,Venezuela became import dependent and all sectors of the economy was neglected apart from oil . |
A prodigal son who is unwilling to accept the consequences of her actions. The policy is working as it is supposed to . People are learning the harsh truth. The party is over. Get up and be productive or waste away trying to benefit from what you didn’t produce . The same policies are being applied globally but why is Nigeria’s case different? As someone who left Nigeria for 10 years and came back. The greatest shock was the newly acquired taste in the period I was away. The lacasera ,Omo detergent ,Bourvita ,Gulder , had been replaced by more fashionable imported brands. People I know spend so much on leisure, frivolities and luxury in a way that I cannot comprehend. Instead of factories and cottage industries,Everywhere is dotted with mosques ,churches, hotels and event centres. The current polity highlights so many structural issues. The upper middle class who are supposed to be the engine of the economy only spend on lifestyle; designer clothes, holidays and schools abroad ,expensive cars , beverages and Rolexes. They add little or no value while getting so much out of the system . Take a look at Alibaba and see all sort of Manufacuring plant and Machineries that are available for sale . Yet we import stuff that add no value .You can probably build to 200 small factories for the price of 100 cars parked in front of a church in Lekki on sunday. Food security is another one . How did we manage to acquire an unhealthy taste for foreign food like rice which we do not have the geographical advantage to mass produce while ignoring our local food. Why are citizens protecting the civil service when much of it is simply not adding any value . The salaries of civil servants and politicians consumes much of our national budget. |
“Our food products are the cheapest around the neighbourhood,” Senator Kyari declared. So produce more . This is exactly what the policy is supposed to do. More exports means more forex and the inability of farmers from neighbouring to compete on price . Kick this one out already |

TInubu - master of sending his opponent on wild goose chase |
bennybuhari:Na only Nigeria dey buy raw materials? Park well. Una dey pop champagne where others were importing industrial plants and manufacturing machineries to generate foreign exchange.Everywhere is littered with Churches, mosques ,event centres, beer palors and hotels . |
Is pound sterling your currency? Abeg face naira. Only in Nigeria people duel on exchange rates and crude oil prices on a daily basis. This just shows how unproductive and hopeless country is.A place full of rent seekers who have latched on to the country’s tits ,sucking it dry and not letting go. Wake me up if you can show me one non-services Nigeria brand with a global reach.Even the few with pan African presence do not repatriate forex back to Nigeria. |
A blessing in disguise. The government should use this opportunity to encourage cycling . Some countries are begging to have this opportunity. Use the palliative to import bicycles by the millions. Most of the journeys we make are short journeys . More crude oil to export. less refined products to import Better health outcomes from exercises . Less pollution. More disposable income from money saved on transportation. |
Moh247:You can also not renounce your citizenship until that renunciation is signed off by the president |
I’m really disappointed in this woman . I once a considered her a viable candidate for the presidency. I have now come into the conclusion that many of our former federal policy makers would not qualify for a level 14 civil servant position in Lagos state . |
A disaster waiting to happen |
Because facebook clowns have migrated there. used to be easy finding people to direct you to research materials , historical documents and books . Now you have to really work hard at filtering the garbage being posted there. |
Use this opportunity to demand radical change . Fuel subsidy and corruption are not the cause of the dysfunction in Nigeria. It is the psyche . Indonesian and Malaysian politicians were also very corrupt. But they invested in their homeland. Nigeria cannot afford subsidy. The money Nigeria is earning is less than what is going out . No one , not even china ,is ready to lend us money to continue digging deeper into red . Can she afford the army of unproductive civil servants ,politicians and their lackey? You can add all those union chairmen who collect dues by fire , by force. What about your corrupt businessmen who unlike their Indonesian or Malaysian counterparts , did not invests their loots into various industries (Agriculture, petrochemicals, electronics ,electricals ) . You get the picture here. Every Nigerian is a major part of the problem. If Nigeria was a person , she will be joining you to protest .she is broke and broken . The stomach rules the brain every time but it does not not change the reality that there is no money . |
Fractional distillation is omitted from your calculations. Here is a link to help you out . https://energyeducation.ca/encyclopedia/In_a_barrel_of_oil |
Cantonese:He who brought them on , knows them ,should chase them away . They were new and not embedded within the system . He should have withdrawn all those new licenses. |
PoliteActivist:Subsidy removal has been going on for 40years . Can you tell us the terminal date? |
DarlingtonC:Tinubu is cleaning up Buhari and Jonathan’s mess in one week. Jonathan invited all manner of vermins into the oil distribution whose only purpose was to steal .Within a period of 2 year , the subsidy regime became untenable. He ,Jonathan was asked to clean up the mess he made but refused. After 10 year , those vermin’s are so embedded in the system that it is better to just get rid of it altogether. Buhari on the other hand created this exchange rate gap to benefit round-trippers. Both cases used ethnic considerations above national interest . |
This is exactly one of obasanjo’s first move when he came to power . Tinubu is ticking along nicely. He is front loading all the shocks and the pain will be unbearable at first . But handled properly ,Nigerians will reap all the benefits. The funny thing is that Nigerian were already paying a higher price for over 10 years . My advice for Tinubu’s communications team is that they are not doing their job properly.Nigeria is not Lagos where you have a large professional class who understand the vagaries of economics. Even Lagos is full of dimwits. There is a need to communicate policies, the reason for , the effects and its potential benefits directly to the populace.Go to the hinterland and market squares . Communicate directly with the people . Get their buy ins . Look for quick easy wins . FVCK palliatives . Use that money and import 50000 cheap tractors from china and distribute them to farmers cooperatives. Get enough railway rolling stocks on the train lines ASAP and build agriculture transportation and distribution hubs around the lines . This can be achieved within 12 months . Tell those useless flyover, event center and street light building governors to invest state funds in areas of competitive advantage. For most , it is agriculture. Absolutely ignore all those so called Harvard agricultural experts who have never stepped on a farm for one day in their lives with their yeye “cooking pot” and “telephone for farmers”programs of the past . Face the reality on the ground and not some half baked classroom theories. |
What is so hard to understand? There is no money budgeted for subsidy. There is no money period . The era of awoof and nothing for something is over.If you want government services , then you pay for it beforehand .Only then can you complain about the quality and quantity of such services. It is time to rethink madueke’s advice and get bicycles back into the transportation mix . Most journeys especially in the cities are short and most Nigerians do not own cars . |
Some of the current set of Japas are some of the most obnoxious set ever . Always on social media making noises . It is too cold ! Taxes are too high and too many! . Did you skip geography and economics in secondary school? Always complaining and never too late to get on social media to give an opinion no one solicited . They are do not listen to advice from those who have been in the system . A sensible person would have declined the interview . The guy said he was helping people to Japa. The first question he should have asked himself is why he was chosen even though there are many well qualified Nigerian immigration lawyers .How did they locate him? Another thing is how easy it is to fall foul of the law. In many profession and sector , it is very easy to be on the other side of the law if you are giving advise or soliciting custom in something you are not qualified for or licensed. |
This guy does not know that cocoa house was a statement of intent. Standing alone ,mean nothing . But the vision behind it is as good as it get . After building industrial estates ,farming settlement ,roads ,waters works and covering other basis like education ,health .The last jigsaw in the puzzle was big business. Business organised to take advantage of the social and physical infrastructure provided. Cocoa house was the “ Look up to the sky statement” call on the Western Nigeria business community. People of a certain age still talk about this building today .That is how much psychology impact it made. The face of Ibadan central business district and probably Nigeria would have been different if politics had been played right in the first and second republic. |
Chump change .20 buses for $1.2 million through a war zone is actually cheap. $60,000 per coach . A Sudanese of twenty paid $7000 to go 800 miles to Egypt . We are talking about 2000 miles here. Yesterday price is not today’s price .You first of all have to convince the drivers to leave their families behind for the mission. They will definitely ask to be paid multiple times what they normally earn .Then you have to pay the owners of the buses a premium because you are not the only person who wants to hire the buses to get out.You have to outbid everyone to guarantee you are first served . |
All noise . |
Same reason why some people hand over the their money to pastors . |
