AFCON FINAL: Obaseki hails Super Eagles despite 2-1 defeat by Ivory Coast

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has hailed the Super Eagles of Nigeria, commending their resilience and teamwork despite conceding the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title to the host nation, Ivory Coast.

Despite going ahead in the first half courtesy of a header by William Troost-Ekong, the Ivorians turned the game around in the second half to win 2-1.

Obaseki joined other football enthusiasts, fans and supporters to watch the first half of the game at the Ring Road viewing center, one of the venues set up by the state government across the State.

The governor was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Osaigbovo Iyoha; Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor; Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Dr. Tom Obaseki and other top government functionaries to Garrick Memorial School at Ekenwan Road, another viewing center set up in the State, to watch the second half of the match.

He said, “It was a very interesting match and you can tell that our boys played their hearts out but the Ivorians have the benefit of the home crowd. Our boys who are just 11 on the field of play, played against 60,000 people. They put in their best but it was not their day.

“We should be hopeful. They did their best and got to the finals. We could have won the cup; that means we have what it takes to be African Champions and next time around, we could win.”

Obaseki added, “I am happy with the quality of the game and the quality of the team we have. I am confident that we have a good team but it’s just that it didn't happen for them today.”

Governor Obaseki also commended Nigerians and Edo residents for coming out massively to support the Super Eagles, noting “I pray that this spirit of commitment by the players and other Nigerians will continue so that we can celebrate more wins.”

Health / Obaseki: Ongoing Reforms In Edo ‘ll Save Nigeria $40 Billion Spent On Medicals by Claire2023: 12:29am On Feb 12
Obaseki: Ongoing reforms in Edo ‘ll save Nigeria $40 billion spent on medical tourism, education.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration is changing the narrative in the State’s education and health sectors, noting that the holistic reforms in the sectors will help Nigeria save the $40 billion spent to access healthcare and education.

Governor Obaseki stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital after an inspection tour of the State-owned Stella Obasanjo Hospital, and the Edo State School of Health Technology, which are currently being upgraded to world-class standards.

He said his administration is changing the healthcare narrative in the State, making the State capital a healthcare hub by improving the health infrastructure and bringing it to a world-class standard.

According to Obaseki, “As a government, we promised the people to change the narrative of the health sector in the State. We are making Edo and Benin in particular a healthcare hub by making sure we improve the health infrastructure and bring it up to world-class standards.

“Healthcare is more about services and human capacity. While we are emphasizing the hospital, the primary health care centers and clinics, we are also ensuring that we create the institutions that will train the quality people we need to provide the quality care.

“The School of Health Technology is supposed to provide manpower for our primary healthcare system and our healthcare system as a whole. This is why we are making it a priority and making sure that the infrastructure is ready on time for accreditation so that we can start the institution afresh before I leave office.”

On the progress of the revamp of the Stella Obasanjo Hospital, the governor said, “the Out-Patient Department (OPD) is ready and the Inpatient Department is still under construction, with the wards, facilities, operational theaters and full complement of infrastructure to provide services across a wide range of areas.

“The challenge is that if we open the OPD and bring in a consultant and they want to perform a procedure, we would not want to send them to other facilities. We are re-working the delivery schedule to make sure that we know clearly when the inpatient department will be ready to enable us to synchronize and open one section three months before the other and not allow a long period before opening both.”

On repositioning the State’s health and education to save Nigeria the over 40 billion dollars spent on education and medical tourism, Obaseki noted, “As a country, we are in crisis. In the papers, the Central Bank Governor said Nigeria spent over $40 billion dollars accessing healthcare and educational services abroad. No normal or serious Country should behave like that.

“This is what we are trying to change in Edo State. We are working to create a healthcare system and educational institution that will rank and can compete with top Institutions and healthcare systems in the world. This is to ensure that we remain in the Country rather than traveling abroad to obtain these services. This will lead to waste of valuable foreign exchange that will have been conserved for other developmental needs.”

He added, “The need is here, the demand is here, the personnel are here. We have always trained people to provide quality healthcare. The State has trained doctors in the last 50 years but we took our eyes off the ball and allowed things to degenerate to where we are today.

“Our goal is to change the politics that brought us here. Some of the characters parading themselves as politicians, they have used their attitude to draw us back but we are waiting for them.”

Politics / Edo PDP Holds National Delegates Election In 17 Lgas by Claire2023: 7:41pm On Feb 10
Edo PDP holds National Delegates Election in 17 LGAs as C’ttee Chair commends conduct of poll.

.....says election very peaceful, credible.

....winners emerge in Egor, Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, others.

The Deputy Governor of Delta State and Chairman of the Edo State National Delegate Electoral Committee, Sir Monday Onyeme, has commended the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National delegates election which held across the State's 17 local councils, noting that the process was very peaceful, transparent and credible.

The Chairman and other members of the electoral Committee went round some venues of the election, including Eghosa Anglican Grammar School in Egor Local Government Area and Urokpota Hall in Oredo Local Government Area to monitor the process and interact with the delegates, INEC officials and electoral officers, among other stakeholders.

Onyeme who briefed journalists after the monitoring at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat along Airport Road, Benin City, said he was impressed and satisfied with the conduct of the exercise which he described as very credible, free and fair.

He said, “We have been here since yesterday for the election. We have gone round to observe the proceeding to see for ourselves how our National officers that we sent here to conduct the exercise are doing.

“We visited some areas and observed that the election was very peaceful and candidates were duly elected and in some centers in some of the local government areas, some candidates voluntarily stepped down for other candidates.

“Everything went on well and the election was peaceful as everyone were in agreement given the process credibility. This is one of the freest and fairest election that I have witnessed and I commend the people of Edo State, especially members of the PDP for conducting a very credible election to elect National delegates.”

The Committee chair further noted, “The results will start coming in any moment from now and as soon as we receive it, we will collate and also brief you accordingly.

“I thank everybody for being part of the process. I also appreciate the press for a good job as they are the medium through which others know what is happening.

“We thank God for a peaceful election and the result at this center (Eghosa Anglican Grammar School) has been accepted by all as the process was carried out in line with the guidelines.”

At Eghosa Anglican Grammar School in Egor, Chief Odion Olaye won the National delegate election with 30 votes, defeating other candidates while in Ikpoba-Okha, Solomon Idehen won with 28 votes beating other candidates.

Dr Asue Ighodalo is Simply The Best.
Politics / Chief Dan Orbih I Know by Claire2023: 11:33am On Feb 09
CHIEF DAN ORBIH I KNOW

Chief Dan Orbih was the hotel manager at his father's hotel in Auchi while I was a lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State. Most lecturers, including my humble self, used to hang out on weekends in the hotel nightclub where our friendship was forged, and we bonded. He later moved to Port Harcourt to deal in the cement business, and I left for the United States for further studies where I live today.

He joined the then APP in 1998 and became the Party's running mate to Chief Lucky Imasuen, who was their Party's governorship candidate. They lost the election to Chief Lucky Igbinedion in 1999, and both of them decamped to PDP at various times.

In 2003, immediately after Chief Lucky Igbinedion won his second term, he (Orbih) decamped to PDP through the assistance of late Chief Tony Anenih and Chief Lucky Igbinedion. Within a short time, Tony Anenih recommended him to then President Olusegun Obasanjo as a member on the NNPC Board. This was the beginning of the rise of Dan Orbih through an Esan man. Thereafter, Tony Anenih sent him to Rivers State as a member of the committee on screening of governoship aspirants, where he met Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Wike. The rest is history.

Towards the end of Tony Anenih life, he abandoned him and used Amaechi and Wike to terrorise the entire Edo State PDP to the extent of being the sole owner of the Party. I dare him to display all results from his local government from 1999 to 2023 and see his abysmal failure politically. He has never won any substantial election.

He dines and wines with Adams Oshiomhole in the night and abuses him in the daytime - a special arrangement between the two of them.

Kindly note that Tony Anenih (Edo Central) sacrificed his tribesmen for him from Edo North. Today, he has vowed not to support any Edo State governorship aspirant from Esan, not even Tony Anenih jnr. He has offended the entire Esan race.

For peace to reign in the build up to 2020 governorship election in Edo State, Chief Emma Ogidi from Delta State as then Deputy National Chairman (South South), from Delta State was persuaded to resign for Dan Orbih to emerge. This was one of the conditions given by Nyesom Wike for him to support Obaseki. The then governor of Delta State, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa politely asked Chief Ogidi to step down, and he did. Dan Orbih did not contest for this position he occupies today, has never contested for, or won election into any position.

What an irony of life. The same Dan Orbih who has never won any election, not even in his local government, has now become the general overseer of Edo State PDP, where Godwin Obaseki is the sitting governor. He wants to impose an aspirant from the same local government as Godwin Obaseki, who is about to complete eight years in office as governor. The game plan is clear. Impose a stooge from Edo South who would be roundly rejected because he is from the same local government as the present governor. This will throw up a possibility of APC clinching the gubernatorial election. Dan Orbih has promised to deliver Edo to APC and also promised his Edo South PDP followers, ambassadorial positions from the president.

These Benin men and women hoping for ambassadorial positions from Dan Orbih should recall that less than two years ago, Wike as governor, honoured some prominent Nigerians, including five from Edo State. The five Edo citizens were from Edo North and recommended by Dan Orbih. Not even one Edo South leader was recommended, yet some Benin leaders are sheepishly following him. The Benins have never been known as cowards, I expect you to see through Dan Orbih's plans. Dan Orbih is an enemy of the Benins.

The same Dan Orbih instructed his followers to vote Bola Tinubu as president against his Party's (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023. But Bola Tinubu lost Edo, that is to say that Dan is not relevant in Edo State politics. Dan Orbih does not have the votes that can overturn any projected electoral victory today. He has no followers from his senatorial zone. Sadly, his so-called followers are from Edo South, though they are minimal.

Edo Central people have collectively agreed to any candidate from their zone. I appeal to Chief Dan Orbih to refrain from what he is doing now before he embarrasses himself. He should learn from the mistakes Chief Tony Anenih made in supporting Adams Oshiomhole of then AC against his clan's man and fellow PDP Party man, Professor Oserhieme Osunbor, which he regretted before his demise.

Chief Tony Anenih, before his death, witnessed his humiliation by Adams Oshiomhole.

Be wise!

Edo Guber: Appeal Committee Hears Complaints against Delegate Election

Chuks Okocha in Abuja

The Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Appeal Committee hearing complaints from some of the governorship aspirant for the February 22 governorship primary election yesterday met individually with the aggrieved aspirants.

This is coming as the state Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Tony Azigbeme, declared that the last Sunday three-man delegate election to elect the governorship candidate remains the best in the history of the party’s internal elections “because of the new innovations introduced by the National Working Committee (NWC).” The appeal committee was headed by the former Governor of Baylesa State, Senator Sierake Dickson, which had a closed-door on individual bases at the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja.

Conspiracy To Wreck Edo PDP Ad-hoc Delegate Congress Went Into Oblivion Like A Diffusion.

By Osata Osayogie Raphael! Certification In Astrology and Astronomy.

February 06,2024

What looks like a lost battle, as regards to ad-hoc delegate election became victory for sure.

An outburst of last minute petitions by 9 ‘Legacy Coalition’ governorship aspirants now called *Noble movement* failed to stop the PDP ad hoc delegate congresses that took place on Sunday, February 04, 2024 across the 192 wards across the 18 local government areas of the state to elect the three ad-hoc delegates, ahead of the primary election of the party.

There were fears that Gov, Makinde’s sudden and abrupt resignation as Chairman of the Electoral Committee would derail the congresses on the aforementioned day; but the National Working Committee (NWC) quickly resolved the issue with the reconstitution of a new electoral committee headed by Gov.Peter Mba of Enugu State.Who happens to be the Vice chairman making the whole process valid and authentic. The absence of Gov.Makinde did not affect the process constitutionally.Hence, the congress election has a legitimate backing.

The National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Hon.Umar Bature also responded to Gov. Makinde in a *terse* letter, dismissing Gov. Makinde’s allegations that the congresses were being improperly constituted and reminding Makinde that not only did the Party abide by the letters of the law in organizing the congresses; all aspirants will be provided with the opportunity to appeal the outcome of the process.

In Edo state, PDP members turned out in high numbers to pick their delegates; a consequence of the high interest voters have taken in the high profile Edo Governorship race. Across the wards too, peace was maintained by large contingents of police officers and members of the Edo Security Network who were very conspicuous at the venues.

The actions of the Chief Dan Orbih led Legacy Coalition of aspirants – Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama, Chief Anslem Ojezua, the deputy governor Comrade Philip Shaibu, Omosede Igbinedion, Hon. Felix Akhabue and four others – are reminiscent of the actions taken by the same Legacy group in the lead-up to the 2023 general elections where the PDP congresses and primaries in Edo State were contested and litigated up to the Supreme Court, with Gov. Obaseki’s group eventually emerging victorious. This is a similar positive political circumnavigation tilting towards victory for the current governor of the ruling party in Edo State.

However, the process which was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various civil society groups was reported to be mostly peaceful across the State. .

Consequently,Edo State chapter of the PDP by this medium expresses profound gratitude to leaders of our great party, the National Working Committee, the Ward Electoral Committee and all organs of the party for their keen supervision of the electoral process that has resulted in a successful ward delegate election.

For those that are aggrieved, the rest is history. It is high time they joined the winning team for good.

Politics / Asue Ighodalo : The Round Peg In Round Hole For Edo? by Claire2023: 7:10am On Feb 08

Asue Ighodalo: The Round Peg in Round Hole for Edo?

“The price of greatness is responsibility” – Sir Winston Churchill.

This profound statement by British statesman, soldier, and writer Sir Winston Churchill, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, from 1940 to 1945 during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955, resonates deeply on the premise of this treatise. As the race to emerge as the next occupant of Dennis Osadebey House, Benin has started in earnest with gladiators throwing their hats into the ring as gubernatorial aspirants. In the face of this of development where there’s an unwritten agreement on transition of power between the senatorial districts of the big heart of the nation. The meat of this submission is hinged on the quest of well-respected lawyer, corporate titan and public figure christened Asue Ighodalo who’s known for his expertise in corporate law, finance, and investment banking, as he takes a dive into the murky waters of politics laden with intrigues, conspiracies, alignment and realignment, nocturnal locomotion in his quest to govern Edo State as the helmsman as the tenure of incumbent Godwin Obaseki winds downs.

Fortune can be determined by one’s adeptness to navigate the intricate spaghetti of human existence. Despite these circumstances, there are persona’s who have experienced trajectories that shaped who they morphed into today, and over the years, they have proven themselves as true models of prominence. Asue Ighodalo, is one of such illustration. From his early years studying at the beginning of where nurtured boys transited to global men, King’s College, to where he sits today as Chairman of several top-notch business entities like Sterling Bank Plc, Nigeria Breweries Plc, Levene Energy, Dangote Flour Mills Plc, Asue has had a remarkable voyage, successfully led numerous high-stake negotiations, advised on critical legal matters, and directed strategic initiatives that has transformed organisations and achieved remarkable outcomes.

He has also been involved in various public and private sector initiatives. However, whether he is the “round peg in a round hole” for Edo State would depend on several factors and the specific context in which his potential role in Edo State is being considered. Some considerations include leadership skills. Ighodalo’s leadership qualities, managerial abilities, and track record in various capacities would be critical in determining his suitability for a leadership role in Edo State. All things said politics is not a mathematical equation where one plus one equals two.

Understanding of Edo State dynamics is key in the forthcoming off cycle political contest. Knowledge of the local dynamics, culture, challenges, and opportunities in Edo State would be essential for effectively leading and contributing to the development of the state. It’s stranger than fiction that Asue Ighodalo has been blackmailed in certain quarters that he’s not a son of the soil, as he’s unable to speak and converse conveniently in the local Esan dialect. The corporate titan and eminent legal counsel has dispelled this smokescreen been bandied around by naysayers and fifth columnists in public domain.

Ighodalo’s vision and plans for the socio-economic development of Edo State, as well as his alignment with the aspirations of the people would play a crucial role in determining his suitability. On paper he fits the bill of who can ascend to the seat of the South South sub-national entity, but there are factors that might militate against his ambition in the short, mid and long term if he clinches the much-coveted ticket via the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform. The legion of party faithfuls who have an axe to grind with incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki might truncate the ambition of Ighodalo. The current deputy governor, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu is daggers drawn with his principal on the forthcoming gubernatorial contest concerning his eligibility and the cold shoulder meted to his ambition by the governor. On the periphery, there has been a groundswell of support and endorsement for Ighodalo’s quest for Dennis Osadebey House with eminent candidates in the fold of PDP stepping down for his candidacy.

One needs to take a cursory look at Ighodalo’s prior experience in public cum private sector as chairman of Alaghodaro Economic Summit and his stint as helmsman of Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) come in handy, his strides in community development of Esan Land further enhances his suitability for a role in leading or contributing to Edo State’s development. Asue also has a high hurdle to surmount to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, business entities, and citizens that would be important for building consensus and collaboration in his quest to lead the heartbeat of the nation.

In the realm of ethical standards and Integrity, Ighodalo has paid his dues beyond comprehension. The importance of upholding ethical standards and integrity in public service cannot be overstated. Any individual considered for a significant role in Edo State should demonstrate high ethical standards and integrity. His alignment with the development priorities and policies of Edo State and the ability to work within the existing governance structure would be crucial and will be key factor as the race for the gubernatorial contest gathers steam.

It’s important to note that determining whether someone is a “round peg in a round hole” involves a comprehensive evaluation of their skills, experience, vision, and ability to address the specific needs and challenges of the role they are being considered for. Public perception, consensus among relevant and key stakeholders, and the overall context of the politicking via democratic tenets of emergence as the candidate of the PDP also play significant roles in determining suitability for leadership positions. Time will tell where the pendulum will swing and as they say: “One day is a long time in politics”.

The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has been enmeshed in internal squabble owning to various interests. The deep-rooted interests, if not managed could attract intractable crisis as raised by concerned followers. However, our focal point today is the interview granted by Distinguished leader, Senator Elder Magnus Odion Ugbesia reechoeing the credibility of the transparent conduct of the Ad-Hoc Delegate Congress across the state..Answering questions after the successful congress, the A-list enchanting leader was full of wisdom.
Excerpts of the interview:

ME : Sir,may we know your take on the just concluded Edo Ad-Hoc Delegate Congress?

SEN.ODION UGBESIA : Thank you Edwin...You see,in line with the guidelines of NWC of our great party, in pursuant of a credible exercise, there were designated collation centres approved for the congress.

ME : There is strong opposition by nine guber aspirants condemning the exercise as a total shamble.

SEN.ODION UGBESIA. : From personal experience, and also televised and videotaped by various wards, the 3 man Ad-Hoc Delegates congress was free and fair, and even the blind could attest to this irrefutable fact.

ME : Sir,as an astute political gladiator, why do you think the opposition against the widely acclaimed foremost guber hopeful, Asue Ighodalo ,is coming from his co-aspirants led by the outgoing Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu ?

SEN.ODION UGBESIA.: I can authoritatively tell you that it is not unexpected for a shining star to be opposed by forces.Havent you seen Asue's demeanour?.He is simply a divine phenomenon that is seamlessly overwhelming everyone.

ME : As a major stakeholder, don't you nurse the fear that the opposition from within the party may overwhelm *Asue Ighodalo* ?

SEN.ODION UUGBESIA : Personally,I don't subscribe to that.. Asue's personality, attitude, disposition, alluring and charismatic posture are so enchanting and positively infectious that he is easily loved even by dissenting voices. He is gaining ground everyday.

ME : Sir,let's go back to the Ad-Hoc Delegate Congress again...You are a known figure not just in Edo State, but across the nation...From your experience as a former member of the National Working Committee of PDP,do you think, the leadership of the party will disown and discredit the congress ?

SEN.ODION UGBESIA : There is no where in the world where a transparent, credible, free and fair electoral process organised, coordinated and conducted by a body will still be discredited by the same body.

ME : What is your advice to the nine aggrieved aspirants?

SEN.ODION UGBESIA : Firstly,we are members of the same political family, before God elevated some to become stakeholders and opinion leaders. So,I strongly appeal to them to give peace a chance and join Asue Ighodalo's pragmatic movement to cause tsunami in the camps of APC and Labour Party.Thank you.

ME : I must confess sir, this conversation is quite expository...

SEN.ODION UGBESIA : Thank you and God Bless You Edwin.

“One wonders what the disgruntled nine aspirants expected when they did not prepare for the exercise in the manner that will suggest they were ever serious. While Asue Ighodalo Esq was busy moving from one ward to another expanding his coast, these aspirants were moving from the office of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to the house of PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, claiming imaginary entitlement and plotting ways to truncate the exercise. Unfortunately, the system and party members did not fall for such emotional blackmail. They were deliberate in their duties as ardent party members.”

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commended the conduct of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 3 Ad-hoc Ward Congresses for election of delegates for the 2024 governorship primary election.

According to Obaseki, the conduct of the ad-hoc ward congresses across the State was peaceful and credible which further demonstrates that the PDP is a well-organized political party.

Obaseki spoke while addressing journalists after three delegates emerged winners at the PDP Ward Congress election in Ward 4 of Oredo Local Government Area.

He said, “Clearly from the turnout, it shows that our people are interested in this election. This is my ward, ward 4. There were 10 nominations to represent us as delegates in the primary elections to select the flagbearer for our party for the September 21st 2024 governorship election.

“Three of the delegates presented themselves this morning. This crowd is not rented but they are PDP members and the turnout is credible and very impressive and they know the people they are sending to represent them and make the decision of electing the candidate that will carry the party’s flag at the Edo State governorship election this year.

“PDP is the best organized party in Nigeria in terms of administration, you can't beat PDP. I have been in two political parties so I know what I am saying. The party has laid down processes and followed the constitution clearly.

“For this delegate election, the laid down rules are being followed. I am impressed with the conduct of this exercise. Members of the working Committee came on time with their materials.

“The same exercise has taken place in all the 192 wards in the State. I am impressed with what has happened today and not all will be happy with the process and may want to bring down the party.

On the issue of Governor Seyi Makinde’s resignation, governor Obaseki said, “We have three governors involved in the exercise and one withdrawing doesn’t discredit the process. Makinde’s withdrawal doesn’t discredit the process. What makes the process credible is the quality of the participation. I hope that our efforts to unify the party continue and we ensure that the PDP plays its role in the politics of this country.”

“The purported PDP crisis is hyped but on ground it is not as they want us to believe,” the governor added.

On his part, the Enugu State Governor and Chairman, Edo State 3 Ad-hoc Ward Congress Electoral Committee, Mr. Peter Mbah said PDP is a party known for fairness, equity and justice, noting that the exercise was peaceful.

The governor who went round venues of the delegate election to monitor the exercise said the party has in the past conducted national primary and conducting delegate congress should not be a problem.

“People have been asked to come out and exercise their franchise. We are happy with what we have seen here at George Ida Primary school and hope it's a reflection of what is going on across the State,” he said.

Also, Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor, Dr. Osaigbovo Iyoha who voted in Oredo Ward 2, said the crowd is huge and it shows that PDP is a united party and a party to beat.

He noted, “PDP is a formidable party to beat in any election in Edo State. Everything has been conducted in a very transparent manner and three delegates have emerged from Oredo ward 2 to represent us.”

The delegates elected to represent ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area include Efosa Viola who scored 148 votes, Alabi Godwin, who polled 232 and Wilson Evbuowman got 219 votes.

Gang Up Against Asue Ighodalo,Was Fruitless, Has No Legitimate Backing Based On Lack Of Knowledge And Obsolete Constitutional Evidences

By Osata Osayogie Raphael! Certification In Astrology And Astronomy

January 31,2024

Reading through the Peoples Democratic Party constitution of 2012 amended of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by some embattled political party aspirants of the ruling party in Edo State to allegedly plot Dr.Asue Ighodalo's disqualification was rather ludicrous and inconsequential.I found the article to be so delegating, laborious and bombastic.

They should have keenly and painstakingly digest the 2012 and 2017 constitution amended with unbiased *mindset*. First law of Mutable and Immutable Perfection or the first law of life/ nature.Hence, they would not have been the current political jesters.

According to the eight governorship aspirants from the PDP in the state, insisting that Ighodalo was not qualified to contest as he allegedly joined the party in June 2023.

Their grouse was that Ighodalo was not qualified to aspire because he has not met the guidelines for the party to contest because he joined the PDP in June last year.

They referred to the amendment in section 9, paragraph 3, of page 68 of the party’s constitution of 2012 that is crude and now obsolete.

The provision states that, “There shall be a minimum of two years membership span for a member to be eligible to stand for election into any public office.”

“Granting a waiver that overlooks this vital membership requirement not only undermines the integrity of the democratic process but also goes against the fundamental tenets of our party’s constitution.”

Based on lack of knowledge and deficiency in reading through the 2017 Constitutional act that was amended. They decided to go to public domain to be taught by the Governor of Plateau State,His Excellency Governor Caleb Muftwang, who happens to a lawyer and knows the nitty gritty of the constitution very well.

According to the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In section 4 of the 2017 constitution amended.States that "There shall be a minimum of (1) one month membership span for a member to be eligible to stand for election into any public office, unless the appropriate Executive Committee gives a waiver or rules to the contrary.

The PDP aspirants who are now defeatists with their high degree of hubris and vituperation are already obsessed by the curriculum vitae of Dr.Asue Ighodalo. He is too mentally articulated, physically healthy, intuitively faceted, academically grounded, professionally vast and psychologically competent, with character, capacity, value and integrity. In terms of hierarchy and precedence Asue doesn't belong to their class.I think they are politically and psychologically obsessed about the presence of his name by re-iteration,before his personality that speaks volumes in all ramifications of life! If God be for Asue Ighodalo, who can be against MAN WEY SABI? certainly, nobody.

However, such political alliance was totally absurd and has no legitimate backing based on lack of knowledge, incompetence and obsolete constitutional evidences.

In conclusion,Asue Ighodalo has the full capacity and character to becoming the next governor of Edo State by the grace of God Almighty. The truth of the matter is that Asue Ighodalo has been successfully screened.

Arise media crew were digestively engaged, entertained and enlightened by a personality who is professionally vast, academically grounded and intuitively faceted in an avuncular manner towards the media experts.

The interactive session, by question and answer between Arise media experts and Dr.Asue Ighodalo were interesting, exciting, intriguing and highly commended by viewers. Who sent several comments on a positive note.

They touched on various capacity of engagements.Below are few of the numerous issues elaborated on.

One of such emphasis was on infrastructural development stride, using road construction as a yardstick.

*SOLUTION:* Using creative/blended finance, cross sectorial partnership, sub sovereign, well financed, well governed, with accountability, transparency, green financing or international financing to fund alternative state roads to enhance the economy.

On the issue of Economy and Debt.Rather than using debt for recurrent expenditure that leads to several leakages on our economy or
If you are taking debt for developmental purpose and for the purposes that regenerates the economy.

*SOLUTION:* The issue is how we use debt. What we will do is to continually look at those areas where we can regenerate the economy of Edo State, where we can push people out of poverty, where we can grow the economy to give us the revenue base to pay back these debts faster.

“We will block those leakages that makes debt a problem and use our debt positively for the benefit of the economy of our state so that the debt can earn for us."

As the interactive session became more intense, the Arise media experts were relatively dumbfounded, fairly perturbed and absolutely flabbergasted listening, watching Asue's precise and exact responses and answers to the various questions being asked. It was mind-blowing,educating, intuitive, in advisory capacity with higher precision of knowledge and intellect impacted on everyone who watched the live broadcast.Waooo!Asue has high distinctive features and characteristics different from other aspirants in all the political parties and landscape in Edo State.Man wey sabi, Asue Ighodalo AI or Artificial Intelligence in human form.

PDP Has A Human Commodity Or Product Or A Personality Influence Specifically That Is Perfectly In-elastic In Nature😃 Why Other Political Parties Are Like Green Leaves That Are Either Etiolated😔 Or Variegated🤢.

Using the Economics terminology.Other political parties have goods that elastic in nature with close substitutes.

By Osata Osayogie Raphael

Saturday 27, 2024

Goods that are elastic in nature are affected by change in price.Hence, they have close substitutes or alternatives. This can be applicable to other political parties. But goods that are perfectly In-elastic in nature have- a-near no close substitutes and are not affected by price. Increase or decrease in price doesn't change the demand of the commodity. There is one stand alone Personality in PDP.He is professionally vast, academically grounded, intuitively faceted and pensively articulated. His name rings a bell; He has being causing a lot of traffics in the political landscape and hemisphere in Edo State. His humongous tours to various political stakeholders and non- state actors have been overwhelming.

By extension, A PERFECTLY INELASTIC GOOD: Is a good where demand does not change regardless of the price, however, it is rarely difficult to have goods that are perfectly inelastic in nature.Water,Blood 💦 and Oxygen(Air) are 💯 percent perfectly in-elastic because man has no control over them.

Perfectly In-elastic occurs in products or services where consumers do not have any substitute goods to meet their demands; salt, water, blood 💦 and oxygen(Air) bought in the hospitals are considered to be the four of the most important goods that are considered to be perfectly inelastic in nature because when the price of water or salt or oxygen increase, it doesn't affect the intake by consumption in the stomach (water) or as a form of a latent or recessive tasteful additive for sumptuous soup or stew or oxygen absorbed to save a subconscious or an unconscious human being(s) for living. One of such PDP aspirants that the Edo residents cannot do without; no matter the hue and cry, complains, quarrels or explanations by some so many political narcissists, rabble-rousers, audacious and recalcitrant politicians who have exceeded their junk or salvage value; like a green leaf 🌿 with excessive chlorophyll in an initial state but are now Etiolated and Variegated or alternatively, like a commodity that is elastic in nature with close substitutes.Such can be affiliated to other political parties. But the ideal perfectly inelastic human product or commodity in PDP or individual by using personality concept.A Legal Luminary, A Technocrat, A Philanthropists A Financial Expert, An Investment Banker And An Astute Economist is Dr.Asue Ighodalo Esq. Asue Ighodalo (AI) or Artificial Intelligence (AI)in human form. Edo State should not in any way, miss this opportunity of having a Technocrat for perfect continuity. MAN WEY SABI😎🧔🏼‍♂👨🏾‍🎨💂🏽‍♂️

Politics / Frank Evboumwan’s Bitterness Against Obaseki By Crusoe Osagie by Claire2023: 4:10am On Jan 23
Frank Evboumwan’s bitterness against Obaseki.

By Crusoe Osagie

Only people who are not conversant with Frank Evbuomwan’s history with His Excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki will miss the fact that his piece, riddled with falsehood, was birthed from a place of personal loss, bitterness and envy rather than patriotism or pursuit of an egalitarian society.

That Obaseki refused to return Frank Evbuomwan for a second term of 5years as Managing Director of the Edo Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS) has left him extremely bitter, because Evbuomwan felt a bit entitled to that position, being the pioneer chief executive of the agency.

Also, Evbuomwan erroneously considers Obaseki his mate having served in the State Executive Council of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole where Obaseki also served as Chairman of the Economic Team. Frank, however, fails to take into cognisance the fact that Obaseki served pro bono, while Evboumwan on the other hand, was being paid by the government.

Evboumwan also does not consider the fact that before coming to his home state to serve his people, Obaseki already conquered corporate Nigeria, founding arguably the biggest investment bank in Nigeria today. So, my brother Evboumwan, Obaseki is not exactly your contemporary. He is your senior brother!

Away from Evboumwan’s motive for writing his bile-ridden piece, it is important to provide some clarifications on the comments made on a number of projects and the progress of work done till date.

Benin Port Project
- The Benin Port Project, a 300,000 TEUs per annum facility, is well on track.
- The call for expression of request was advertised in February, 2023. By July, 2023, after a thorough bidding process, Mota Engil, a renowned global infrastructure development firm, emerged as the preferred bidder for the project.
- Mota Engil is currently sourcing financing in the international market to commence construction. It had important critical heavy duty equipment mid last year to facilitate execution of high impact projects in the country. The project is expected to be delivered through a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Maintain and Transfer (DBFOMT) model.
- It is being developed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) involving the Ministry of Transport, Nigeria Port Authority, Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), and the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), among others.

Benin Enterprise Park
- The Benin Enterprise Park is also very well on course. Hon. Ikponmwosa Osayande, a finance expert and accountant, is the Managing Director of the Park.
- The Park covers an area of 1000 hectares and the design of the main infrastructure network, sewage system, among others, are all complete.
- The anchor tenant at the facility is the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), which has procured 50 hectares for development.
- The Park, a 1000-hectare facility, is connected to the 95MW Ossiomo Power Plant, assuring adequate electricity for its clients.
- Work is expected to commence soon on the NCDMB portion of the park, which will open the facility up for more big-ticket investors.

Edo North Cargo Airport
- A Cargo Airport has been proposed to be built in Edo North Senatorial District, to facilitate movement of goods and passengers from the axis of the State.
- The agency regulating air transport, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has conducted a study on the proposed site in Uzairue, and certified it as appropriate.

Farm development
- Under the Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP), the Edo State Government has launched the largest oil palm development project in Africa with over 70,000 hectares of land allocated to at least 10 private investors.

- Over $500m has been invested in the programme and a number of the integrated farms are aimed at developing integrated farms and an ethanol plant that would meet 5% of Nigeria’s ethanol needs.

Road infrastructure
- The State has constructed over 565 roads, covering a total distance of 737.37 kilometers.
- Some of these roads, including Benin-Abraka Road, Ekehuan Road, Ugbiyokho Road and Junction Improvements, are undergoing reconstruction
- The Junction Improvement work is almost complete on Third Junction, at the Sakponba axis and the Sapele Road axis.

EdoBEST
- The State has trained over 15000 teachers on use of computer tablets to deliver lessons to over 300,000 pupils across the State.

- The government has rolled out recruitment of 5200 new teachers to address shortfalls across the State. The EdoBEST programme has been vetted and praised by the World Bank, leading to even more funding to increase the impact of the project.

Health Sector
- The Edo State Health Improvement Programme (EdoHIP) has overseen the revamp of over 30 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) across the State. This includes the provision of solar-powered electricity, potable water and telemedicine facility.
- The Edo Health Insurance Scheme (EdoHIS) have proven to be quite impactful with increased enrolment. At the moment, it has over 200,000 subscribers.

College of Agriculture
- The Edo State College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, has been completed, with staff already engaged. Admission is ongoing and a new session will commence soon, as courses are undergoing accreditation.
- It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to train staff for the growing number of investments in the oil palm sector and other parts of the agricultural sector.

It is not surprising that Evboumwan may harbour some bad blood against the governor, but that is not sufficient to embark on a campaign to smear impactful projects that were undertaken by Governor Obaseki.

Politics / Edo 2024: Ighodalo Campaign Vehicles; Matters Arising By Mike O. Enahoro by Claire2023: 1:37pm On Jan 19
Edo 2024: Ighodalo Campaign Vehicles; Matters Arising

By Mike O. Enahoro

When we talk about "capacity", truly, though very humble and gentle but battle-ready, this "Man Wey Sabi" is intimidating even other aspirants in other political parties...

In the late hours of Thursday, January 18, 2024, I reported that the former Sterling Bank PLC Board Chairman and leading aspirant of the People's Democratic Party, Barr. Asue Ighodalo has rolled out Sienna SUVs for eighteen (18) PDP Local Government Area Chairmen. In that report, I noted that some of the Chairmen had already collected while the remaining were already on their way to Benin City, the State Capital to collect theirs. As promised, in this report, I will attempt to give more details about the situational report having confirmed what is on the ground in terms of vehicles that are even far beyond just party LGA Chairmen.

I placed a call to the man who is said to be in charge of the distribution of the vehicles to find out the situation report. Find below is the summary of our discussion. "My principal is fully prepared for the primary and election for Edo 2024. Barr. Ighodalo understood that critical stakeholders need to be mobile to ensure party members and others are reached. We have over 600 vehicles already on the ground undergoing branding and to be distributed in batches..." When I asked, sir, these vehicles seem very many. Does that mean you guys are also going to automatically draft delegates into the campaign team by giving them vehicles each after the primary? The man who wanted his name to remain anonymous almost took me far beyond the matter of vehicles and said "...well, I cannot tell you our strategies now. What is important is to tell you that our principal, Barr. Asue Ighodalo is fully prepared for the Edo 2024 election. He's the party aspirant to beat. He is a blessing to our party. I can tell you that when he picks the PDP ticket, he will overrun other candidates from other political parties. Yes, no party can match Barr. Asue Ighodalo as PDP candidate. So, I am by this also telling you to help tell other party members including other aspirants to let us rally around the Man Wey Sabi not just to only make the election easy for us as a party but also to have someone in charge of Osadebey Avenue come 2024 that will take Edo State to the next level, economically and politically..."

Seriously, on the receipt of the Sienna SUVs, I have confirmed from over ten (10) PDP LGA Chairmen who have collected already. Some others told me that they were already on their way to Benin to collect theirs too. Some presently not around said to me point black, "it's party affairs hence this development will make the party stronger and better." Considering the enthusiasm and joy in their voices, it is very clear and obvious that these party GOCs in Edo State have made up their minds to do the needful. No one is ready to continue the suffering when a man with fresh ideas, the Fresh Air himself has come. In clear direct words, one of them even told me "Mike, we cannot afford not to support Asue Ighodalo to pick the party ticket. This man has capacity far more than any other aspirant. He is very humble and accessible. He is the best man for the job. With him, the party will be so united and PDP's past glories will be restored..."

My interactions with some other critical members of Ighodalo's Edo 2024 project, Asue Ighodalo's LGA, Senatorial, and State Coordinators are also in the plans for the distribution of the vehicles. The provisions of these vehicles are no doubt a show of readiness and capacity to confront the battle ahead. The truth is that provision for logistic arrangements to ensure effective mobility is not a luxury but a capacity. So, Barr. Asue Ighodalo is unstoppable and even beyond PDP.

When we wrote that none of the other aspirants could even send "Merry" to us as party members so we could add, "Xmas and New Year" to it, some people misunderstood our opinion on that. Aspirants who could not reach out to members of their party in their Ward or LGA are competing with Asue Ighodalo that is already having his presence in the 192 Wards in Edo State.

Painfully, some of the aspirants are going about telling people that Asue Ighodalo is a stranger in Edo PDP and that they have been in the political system. Some even called themselves Home Boys. Please, someone should help me tell them that "NOR BE HOME BOYS WE GO CHOP". Barr. Asue Ighodalo is not a hungry person...Without missing any word, Asue Ighodalo is today the most popular politician in Edo State than any other person. This is not a fallacy. He has even gone far beyond PDP. And I think we should take sentiment away from this fact. All the other aspirants should calm down and let us unite in Asue Ighodalo for the battle ahead.

While others are still thinking and struggling and getting donations to raise money to buy nomination forms (not interest forms), Asue Ighodalo is already importing, branding, and distributing campaign vehicles. I am not talking about renting vehicles from transport companies but purchasing SUVs. The arrival of these campaign vehicles depicts the level of readiness if not preparedness of Asue Ighodalo for the Edo 2024.

*I have no doubt that very soon the vehicles given to Edo State PDP during the 2023 election as donated by the former Governor of River State, Barr. Nyesom Wike will soon be brought out from where they were kept for private use. Of course, we still have the record where we were told that Wike has released those vehicles to Edo State. Up till now, the vehicles were not released to the party leaders or LGA Chairmen nor the aspirants who spent their money. So, we are watching to see where the vehicles will now come out from because the Toyota Hiace Buses grew wings and flew to the bush to hang in the branches of iroko or mahogany trees.*

We have said over and over again that in terms of individual capacity in the readiness for the Edo 2024, Asue Ighodalo is the man in our hearts. We talked about Christmas gifts the other time, they said, na food we wan take know! Now, we are talking about logistics, someone is saying Na Asue Ighodalo's vehicles his aspirant is relying on. When I read that from someone who is supposed to be promoting a candidate that they said God anointed, I was not only flabbergasted but dumbfounded that some aspirants are truly not ready. Truly, those aspirants who are not ready should stop wasting their followers' time.

Come to think of it, if an aspirant is not telling you the truth, is it also that some followers cannot know themselves? Anyone talking about strangers in PDP as of today is only deceiving and trying to lock ignorant people into the corner. The truth is, we do not have strangers in PDP. Apart from the fact that Asue Ighodalo will overrun all other aspirants combined if the primary goes beyond just three delegates from each of the 192 Wards, Ighodalo will get 95% in a free and fair primary.

I have said it time without number, for those waiting for the Edo State Governor, H.E. Mr. Godwin Obaseki to come and fund their elections, they should be told that they are truly not ready. Ematon nor get una time oooh. He has even technically banned his aides from participating in the process.

So, let us swallow our pride and be smart to stand behind the capacity aspirant, the Man Wey Sabi, whose name is Asuerinme Ighodalo. To those of us still in the race, let us use the available transfer window, protect our egos, and pretend to step down for Asue Ighodalo. This is my humble submission.

Politics / Edo 2024: Ighodalo Formally Declares For Governor, Reels Plans To Promote Edo’s by Claire2023: 10:00pm On Jan 17
Edo 2024: Ighodalo formally declares for governor, reels plans to promote Edo’s economy.

…condoles with Oyo govt, families of victims of Ibadan explosion.

Former Chairman of Sterling Bank Plc, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, on Wednesday, formally declared his intention to contest the 2024 Edo governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ighodalo at the official declaration at the Edo PDP Secretariat in Benin City, the Edo State capital, reassured that if elected, he will rejuvenate the economic fortunes of the State to the benefit of all Edo people.

The PDP frontline aspirant also condoled with the Government and people of Oyo State over the Tuesday night explosion in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and called for a minute silence in honour of the deceased, while praying that God grants their families the fortitude to bear the loss.

Leaders of the PDP at the declaration include: Edo State PDP Chieftain and past senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Sen. Clifford Ordia; Secretary, Edo PDP Senatorial Caucus, Central, Barr. Luckson Ogendengbe; National Leader of the PDP, High Chief Tom Ikimi; Edo PDP Senatorial Vice Chairman, Central and Senatorial Caucus Chairman, Archbishop Anthony Okosun, and Deputy Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Marie Edeko.

Others are former House of Representatives member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency, Hon. Joe Edionwere; past Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and serving House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, and former Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly and member of the House of Representative, Hon. Friday Itulah, among others.

Dr. Ighodalo noted that he is running for Governor to deliver real solutions that can unleash the promise of a new future for Edo people, having in the past advised in various capacities on how to resolve some of these problems.

Ighodalo said, “No part of Edo will be left behind. From the high plains of Kukuruku to the lush vegetation of Ilushi; from the rich, red sands of Sakponba, to Esanlands’ incredible biodiversity.

“We have all that is needed to make our State a mesmerizing destination for progress and wealth.

“Across each administrative zone, in Edo North, Edo Central and Edo South, we will create practical and focused economic development teams that will harness each area’s unique potential to create wealth for all our people.”

Ighodalo, who until recently was also the chairman of Nigerian Breweries, said “My policies as governor — if you will give me your mandate - will be focused on unlocking this promise, for all of us, in key areas.

“My ultimate objective is to lead a government that eliminates deprivation in all its forms, and makes Edo the best place to live and work in Nigeria.

“Our economic policies will uplift the poor, support the hard-working men and women of this state, and encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.”

While reassuring that the education sector would receive top priority, Ighodalo noted that "I believe strongly that education is the gateway to opportunity.

“So, we will continue to invest in education as a priority from primary schools to secondary and tertiary institutions — throughout the State.

“We will ensure that our educational system becomes a beacon of hope, and ladder to opportunity. We will make Edo State’s educational system our key to ending generational poverty, for good, in our great State.”

Ighodalo, who is the former chairman of the Alaghodaro Economic Summit, noted that with his sixteen years of involvement in the governance of the State at the advisory level, he has identified areas of focus to achieve success with governance.

He stated, “These are the reasons I am here today, with the greatest humility, to formally declare my intention to run for the office of the Governor of Edo State on the platform of our great Party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

“And to respectfully seek the support of all Edo State people everywhere, male and female, old and young, those at home and those in the Diaspora without whom true progress is impossible.

“Let us shun the narratives that seek to divide us, and come together, as one, to build the bridges that will lead us to prosperity. Let us strive to be the best, because only the best is good enough for us all.

“While, in the past, | have advised our leaders on how to resolve some of these problems.

“But today, I am here to ask you for the opportunity to act - beyond giving advice - to deliver real solutions that can unleash the promise of a new future for all of us.

“As governor, by the grace of God, my mission will be to create an Edo where quality education is accessible to all, where hard work is rewarded and where our talented youth can turn their dreams and aspirations into reality.

“I believe in the promise of an Edo where every person, regardless of their start in life, can write their own story of success -if we take the right steps, together.

“I am particularly excited at the opportunities that we will be able to unlock, to engage the passion and ingenuity of our youth, who are the shining lights of this State.”

“My greatest desire is for their creativity and latent energy to be unleashed positively upon our country and world,” the frontline PDP aspirant added.
