HarrveySpecter: I am just watching channels news and the president was meeting with governors and in his speech where he was giving a brief history on how ebola came to Nigeria. He said, "sawyer after going to his sisters burial and participated in one way or the other, contacted the disease. He was advised to stay but the "crazy man" (with using his hand as gesture) refuse to listen."
Something in that line.
How can a president talk like this on national TV for the love?
KwoiZabo: The Imo State Police Command Thursday arrested over 180 bandits with fake voters' cards, official identity cards of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and independent observer identity cards.
The hoodlums, who were heading for Anambra State ahead of the Saturday governorship election, confessed that they were coming from Osun State before they were arrested around 7.30p.m. in a hotel in Owerri, the Imo state capital, while waiting to link up with their contact persons in Anambra State.
Items recovered from them include two pump action riffles, live ammunition, 15 buses and other incriminating materials.
Although the suspects could not mention the political party they were hired to work for, it was gathered that they were paid over N50 million to rig in favour of one of the candidates. Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Katsina, warned that Imo State will no longer be used as a breeding ground for criminal activities, adding that those arrested would be prosecuted.
He said the heavily armed hoodlums were in the state to cause breach of peace, stating that the operation against miscreants will continue unabated.
He further warned that the peace and security the command had worked so hard to attain will not be compromised by any politician no matter how highly placed.
However, one of the suspects, Salawo Ayodele, said that they were members of Justice and Equity Organisation and were mandated to monitor the Anambra election. He disclosed that they were given N10,000 each as feeding money for the operation.
APC tins
No need to hide the candidate. Since they came from osun, they can only belong to the Bokoharam-afenifere party.
yelsew80: The Nigerian community in India is feeling "aggrieved" after one of its citizens was killed in Goa, Nigeria's high commissioner has told the BBC. Ndubuisi Vitus Amaku said the resort state's subsequent order to deport Nigerians living illegally there was like "rubbing salt on their wounds". Meanwhile, police in Goa have made the first arrest in the murder case. Police blamed the killing on rivalry between local and Nigerian drug traffickers, and Goa's Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar asked the police to track down Nigerians living illegally in the state and deport them.
There are about 40,000 Nigerians living in India and Mr Amaku says he is concerned about the safety of his people. "Indians need to understand that a large number of Nigerians are living legally in India and even if some are living illegally, there are laws in place to deal with that and those should be implemented," Mr Amaku told BBC Hindi's Divya Arya.
He criticised the Goan authorities for plans to deport those living illegally in India. "If Nigerians are living illegally you don't wait till their compatriot is murdered before you go around picking them up and threatening them with deportation - that is like rubbing salt on their wounds."
Earlier in the week, another Nigerian diplomat had warned of repercussions against Indians living in Nigeria if Goa did not stop "evicting Nigerians" from the state and failed to arrest the killers. More than 800,000 Indians live in Nigeria and they own approximately 100,000 businesses there. Mr Amaku said the official's statement was made in the context of the murder and that he felt "aggrieved" like all other members of the Nigerian community. Indian foreign ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said he was sure that the row could be settled "amicably". "We have been assured that the investigation (into the murder) is under way," news agency AFP quoted him as saying.
