Musa Accepts Ref Gassama’s Apology For Disallowed Goals Vs Bafana By Adeboye Amosu: Nigeria winger, Ahmed Musa, says he has forgiven Gambian referee, Bakary Gassama after his errors cost the Super Eagles two goals, and a win in last Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, reports Completesportsnigeria.com. Gassama and his assistants chalked off two Nigeria goals for offside but replays showed otherwise. EXPOSED!! The secret asian tonic that will regrow your hair In the first half of the encounter, Musa thought to have assisted a Kelechi Iheanacho goal but saw it flagged for offside while the Al Nassr man, with few minutes left in the tie, ran onto Alex Iwobi’s incisive pass to score what would have been the winner in a 1-1 game, but again was met by Gambian official’s disapproval. After the clash at the FNB Stadium Johannesburg, the Super Eagles skipper took to the social media to question the calls, also poking at CAF. The referee, however, apologised to Musa and Nigeria for the mistakes and the forward has waved off the incidents, stressing that their qualification for AFCON has made up for the unpopular decisions. “I will say that it was good that he realized his mistakes and apologized for his action and it is past tense for me,” Musa told reporters in Asaba ahead of the Super Eagles’ friendly encounter against the Cranes of Uganda. “The major thing is that we have qualified for Afcon for the first time since 2013 and we are delighted about that. I don’t see any big deal about that because our emphasis was on playing at the Africa Cup of Nations and now that we have qualified, we are relieved. “I am not worried that I was not able to score because we didn’t lose and we have got our heart desires with the ticket to Cameroon. We know that it is time now for serious preparations and that is what we are after now Source : Complete sports |
IronGalaxy:Actually, if he isn't among the top 3 nominees for African footballer of the year, then the award is a fraud ![]() |
I don't understand why Rohr hasn't talked about about the bad officiating. |
junnyjake:He has my support if he plays 3-5-2 |
ChrisKels:I noticed it when checking the AFCON qualifier result. I was so surprised that there could be a country in Africa whose name I haven't heard before. Lol. On checking up, I discovered it was Swaziland |
Earthquake2:Well, for me, I prefer the 3-5-2 formation. At least we not likely to lose. And I'm sure Baxter isn't expecting this lineup. Allnigeria soccer also reports that Omeruo will start along with Balogun and Ekong. |
Earthquake2:I would av preferred Ola Ain or even Moses Simon as RWB. Collins mans the LWB position according to own goal |
Owngoal Nigeria reports that Nigeria might line up in a 3-5-2 formation with Kalu as a right wing back, Iheanacho as a supporting striker and Ahmed Musa leading the quest for goals Modified If this is true, that's my preferred lineup but Kalu as a wing back?. Not sure he can do it |
Rohr: We’ve waited long for this match Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is adamant on ending Bafana Bafana’s clean-sheet streak and seeking to avenge their only defeat to African opposition in his reign. Rohr is relishing this weekend’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Bafana and has noted several motivating factors ahead of the much-anticipated clash at the FNB Stadium. Nigeria arrived in the country in the early hours of Friday morning, much to the discontent of the German tactician as he redirected questions on the reasons therefor to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). “This question you have to ask to NFF. It was not my desire to come so late and to spend all night on the plane, with a stopover in Luanda,” bemoaned Rohr. “So, yes, we wanted to come here earlier, but you know sometimes it’s not the coach who can decide. We have to accept the decision of the federation.” However, he insists the team is fired up for the encounter as they seek revenge for their 2-0 opening round defeat in Uyo in June last year. “We’ve been waiting for this match for one and a half years, and it’s a long time but it is still on our minds. We would like to get a better result now,” he said. “South Africa are under pressure because if they don’t win, they are not guaranteed qualification. Their last game is depending, of course, on Libya – who has a good team too.” Another particular point the former Burkina Faso, Niger and Gabon mentor is looking to exploit is Bafana’s record of having yet to concede in four games in the campaign thus far. “I’ve noted South Africa haven’t conceded any goals, so we would like to be the first team to score a goal against them,” he added. “We’re coming here not to play for a draw, which could be enough already for us to qualify, but to try and win. We have wonderful conditions to play in, so the players will enjoy it.” Rohr also downplayed the absence of several key players, including top goal scorer Odion Ighalo, and is confident those called up to replace them will get the job done. “We have the youngest team in Africa at the moment – even younger now because some experienced players are not here,” said the 65-year-old. “We are missing four important players – the goalkeeper; our best goal scorer, one of our best midfielders [Wilfred] Ndidi and Shehu [Abdullahi] the right-back is not here. “But I think the other players will do well and we have a good chance to make a good match.” Article by: Chad Klate (@CKlatey) of Kickoff.com |
Numbers that should worry Bafana Bafana Bafana will have a big task to collect three points against a Nigerian side currently on a high in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. After losing their opening Group E match to Bafana in Uyo last year, Nigeria have bounced back in fine style and are top of the standings, and favourites to qualify as winners of the pool As the three-time AFCON winners prepare to take on Bafana at FNB Stadium on Saturday (15h00), KickOff.com looks at the numbers which should have Stuart Baxter and his players worried. 10 – Nigeria have scored 10 goals in four group matches, showing just how ruthless they can be if they are given freedom to do as they please. They are the second highest scoring team in the qualifiers behind Egypt, who have bagged 12 goals in Group J. 6 – Six of the 10 goals the Super Eagles have netted in the group were scored away from home. The Super Eagles were 3-0 winners against Seychelles in Vitoria two months ago and they had to dig deep to record a 3-2 victory over Libya in Sfax last month. 5 – The Super Eagles are lethal both in the first half and the second. They’ve scored five goals in the first and as many in the second period. 4 – Nigeria have proven to be very dangerous early in the game. They’ve scored four goals in the first 20 minutes of matches, which means Bafana need to be switched on from the word go. 3 – The West Africans are in red-hot form at the moment, winning three matches in a row. 36 - The Super Eagles average a goal every 36 minutes in the qualifiers. Bafana have not conceded a goal in the qualifiers and will have arguably their most difficult task to keep another clean sheet on Saturday. Article by: KICK OFF |
junnyjake:For Akpeyi to av a great game while in goal for us, that means SA really troubled us. Chai!. Bad dream!!!. |
How Bafana Can Qualify For AFCON 2019… By Soccer Laduma Bafana Bafana face Nigeria this weekend in a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier, with Stuart Baxter’s side knowing exactly what they need to do to reach the showpiece in Cameroon. As things stand, Bafana sit in second place on the Group E log with eight points from four games and two matches to play. As things stand they are the only unbeaten team in the group but will have been disappointed to drop points against Libya at home and Seychelles away. That being said, Baxter’s side could leapfrog Nigeria and book their place in Cameroon on Saturday afternoon if they’re able to beat the current log leaders at FNB Stadium, with 11 points meaning that neither Libya nor Seychelles will be able to catch them. Even a draw could be enough for Bafana if Seychelles manage to avoid defeat at home against Libya, and a shock win for Seychelles would mean that even a loss for Bafana in Johannesburg would see them qualify ahead of the Libyans. However, with Libya expected to at least get a point at Stade Linite, anything less than victory will see the group go down to the final game, with Bafana facing Libya in March for a spot at Cameroon 2019. Simply put, if Bafana don’t lose either of their final two games then they will be off to the AFCON next year, but a defeat in either game could leave them requiring favours from elsewhere. In short, it’s all in their own hands. |
Opponent watch SAFA statement on SA training "In the last three training sessions, the team has concentrated mostly on defensive setup, methodical build-ups with greater emphasis on shooting at goal in which the players took turns to rain shots at goal,” |
Curtisaxel7:I'm sure you are one of the fans that fought the good of fight for Jamilu Collins and Tyronne Ebuehi to be invited. Lol |
COOL10:I just tire for people. Can't people pass across their thoughts without insults? |
cc12:Waiting Wonderful. This is interesting |
Danielnino00:Is Deeney back from Injury? |
isan:Any prospective SE player in their squad? |
Bazee back? I pray injury let him be. And we are still hoping to have Lookman. The wings are congested mehn!!!. Seyi Ojo's declaration for the GWG is not coming at a very good time for him. I don't envy any upcoming Nigerian winger at all. |
Taliban:Sure sir. I agree with you. This players are celebrities. They will be talked about by the high and low, outstanding people and failures, and zealous and slothful folks alike. What I am trying to say is that many of our criticisms aren't fair. This players train alot. They work really hard. The amount of effort they put into their profession outweigh and overwhelm our (the critic) input into our occupation. But like you said it's normal for them to be criticized |
Truidstar:Of course, training with top players improve one's game, I agree. If you like train with Messi ND Ronaldo, you can only improve but there is a limit to where you can go if other factors necessary for development are neglected. You have to realize that over 90% of the time, players don't play in one team for ever. Players have to move at one point or the other. Iheanacho, no longer confident and assured? Very ambiguous statement!. Well maybe the "false pedestal" I mentioned earlier. Fake confidence and assurance but with no actual growth |
Truidstar:I want to disagree with you. The Iheanacho we are seeing now is the real Iheanacho. Iheanacho in City was being spoon-fed. Playing with top class players sometimes places one on a false pedestal. Apart from those two goals in the clash with Tanzania and Zambia, I for one can't see any other spectacular contribution that he made in those matches. Winning CNN goal of the week shouldn't be used as a criteria. Sikiru Olatunbosun's goal for MFM in NPFL also got that award. What about that? So in essence, I don't think he has lost any special ability compared to his days at Man City |
Taliban:Abi o In addition to this, before you bash any player, ask yourself if you (the critic) are one of the best in your field of endeavour. If the answer is no, you will do well to remove the mole in your eye to be able to see clearly in taking away the beam in your neighbour's eye |
Nigeria will no longer face Kenya in the 2018 women's nation's cup as the appeal board of CAF has reinstated Equatorial Guinea. Interesting one for the Falcons there. |
Stuart Baxter is hoping that the Bafana Bafana don't get overconfident against Nigeria. Interesting. November 17 will tell |
Icon4s:Yeah, he played it against Seychelles the other day but we are going to face South Africa (a stronger opposition) this time around |
Oluwa...oooo Keep Iwobi away from the jaws of Injury o |
