Interested In Signing FC Basel's Nigerian Winger
Published: March 12, 2019
Premier League champions Manchester City are exploring ways to sign FC Basel's Nigerian super kid Noah Okafor, according to reports.
Goal Nigeria has reported that the Basel number eleven is attracting interest from Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan among others ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.
It is believed that the Swiss powerhouse offered Okafor a new deal twelve days ago to fend off interest from these big teams abroad as he had penned a professional contract in January 2018.
The 18-year-old has broken into FC Basel's starting line-up in recent weeks, starting their last four matches and having a hand in two goals.
Born and raised in Switzerland, he has family ties to Nigeria and is on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation with a view to a possible invitation to the Dream Team VII and Super Eagles.
His recent contract extension keeps him at FC Basel until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

All of you comparing the eagles of old to this present eagles are not serious. I'll prefer this present eagles to the old eagles because , the old ones are more of big players without good team play.

what we have today is more of average players but can do wonder as a team, which is better as far as football is still a team sport.

Look at the eagles of 2013 that won the AFCON, they won because they played as a team instead of individually that we usually have before.
That is why we could afford not to have a Mikel and a Victor Moses in the qualifiers and still get superb result because they play as a team and don't rely on the big names. Have you ever wondered why Nigeria did not win anything serious after the AFCON 1994 and wonderful performance on the world cup the same year? it was because after the tournament , most of those guys became popular, went to big clubs and became bigger than the team, hence the ego clashes that happens all the time among the players. They started playing individually and not as a team.

Have you ever wonder why the Las England squad at the world cup surpassed expectations and beat the performance of the Rooney, Lampard et al eras? it was because their game was more of a team play, rather than individual brilliance.

You can bookmark this comment today. This present crop of guys will go far if they keep playing with the same team work mentality.
Thanks bro but unfortunately, much as some of us would av wanted otherwise, some people are still reminiscing about the utter failure and mediocrity of the past.

That's not true. We were ranked 9th on the Fifa ranking sometime around 06-09. We were in the top 20 before 08 Afcon. Berti Vogts was just a clown.
Our 06 team was even better. We still had JJ, better defenders and strikers. We had the luxury of choosing from Ike Uche, Osaze, Yakubu and Martins. Compare that to our current striking options.
Yeah, that was under Austin Eguavoen. We were 9th because we played no matches for many months during that period. The next time we took our 9th position to the pitch, Ghana disgrace us 4-1for the 1st time in 15years. Junior Agogo(of all players), Frimpong and co dealt with our eagles that day. Will never forget that match. So sad.
They even beat us with 10 men in 2008 AFCON and Agogo scored again

I'll rather remain in these "bad new days" than those "good old days"

I dropped you a Bait and you are damn quick to fall in the Trap. Am I surprised......?! No! Coz it's apparent majority of you here can't engage in Discourse without being emotional.

Guess your Eyes couldn't see - "with proper management and development". The phrase alone has explained what I meant in the last Paragraph that - "I would have said no one".

I picked the 2 based on potential not because they are the best we've got now. If Uzoho, a Rookie, could be our No. 1 Keeper at the World Cup, then it's no Crime giving them chance to shine as well.

From Rufai, Dosu, Shorunmu, Enyeama to Uzoho. From Yekini, Amokachi, Agha-wonder, Obagoal, John Utaka, Yakubu, Uche Brothers to the Bags of Beans we are celebrating as Strikers and Attackers?!

Kindly note that; Understanding is the Key to Commutation. Next time, don't rush, rather pay Attention, understand the Message before jumping on a Bait.
And the "hyping" (which u spoke against nd would rather us stay in the "old days" of failure where qualifying for a tournament isn't possible without us using calculators) of Awoniyi isn't based on the potential which some SE has seen?
Baffling that you can be preaching understanding to someone else. U need it more bro. grin grin grin

Oh...... I forget Rohr has won AFCON for us with the present Squad and as well reached the KO stage at the World Cup.

Did I say that?
What I mean is that there is no difference between these "old days" and now.
Nobody has time to watching some carefully selected highlights of an individual performance.
The question is what did these players of the "old days"achieve with the SE?

If Iheanacho can be as good as Martins, I wonder what kinda Names Dudes gonna call him on this Thread. Perhaps GOAT ever come from Africa Soil.

Martins balled in a star-studded Inter Milan, balled in England with Newcastle United, balled in Spain, though with Levante before going into retirement in US and China respectively.

It's a pity we often glory mediocrity on this Thread a lot. Our No. 9 is plying his Trade in China, his first Deputy is warming Bench at Leicester, others ain't even existing on the Radar yet.

Because Awoniyi is banging Goals with a lowly Club in Belgium, Dudes are already singing his Name and calling for his Inclusion in the Super Eagles. Chuks was so hyped to the extent many committed Blasphemy against the Gods of Soccer.

Let me just stop here, Eagles are in a Wilderness at the moment, I pray the old Days return as soon as possible.
And what did we achieve during this "old days"? Days we struggle to beat Angola, Mozambique etc.

Hello. I'm a Christian who believes completely in the witness of the Bible.

I have answered this question multiple times already.

Every child who does not attain the age of accountability before death and every human being who is mentally disabled is automatically saved because the Lord Jesus died for everyone. Only those who actively reject Him or refuse to accept the Gospel are those who are condemned.
What of those who actively rejected Christ or consciously refuse to accept the Gospel before they went mad?

It has to do with the model of football. Football transcends beyond just discussing about direct related topics. Sometimes an in depth understanding of other topics can expand our understanding of what we want from the Super Eagles.
We already Know what we want from the eagles. The expectations has always been the same even before Pep became a coach. We don't need you to lift up Guardiola to the high heavens as it doesn't affect the SE in anyway.

I watched Moses Odubajo for Brentford against Barnet in the FA cup last night.

Dude played for 90 minutes, started as a RWB and switched to LWB in the second half. Was superb in going forward and creating chances (his team scored 3 goals and he hit the woodwork twice) he was Brentford's main attacking outlet especially in the 2nd half. From what I saw, the guy is better than Jamilu Collins and Bryan Idowu. Good dribbler and passer of the ball, something we've lacked in our SE LWB's.

I believe Odubajo should be called up in place of Bryan Idowu. I believe he has what it takes to dislodge Collins from that LWB starting spot as well as give Aina a good run for his money.
Nice one
Do you know if his switch of allegiance has been finalized?

I can bet everything I own that you absolutely did not watch yesterday's match. Vinicius was easily the best player on the pitch, by far. As in he kept on destroying his marker over and over and over again, and he kept on creating chances and he kept on going for goal and he kept on interchanging neat passes with Benzema, in fact the Madrid fans all applauded him after an audacious effort towards the end of the game. If you truly watched this match in particular before typing this then I wonder the kind of game you watched.
I wonder too o
I didn't watch the match but when guys here said he was overrated based on yesterday's match, I went to read various commentaries, and I think he had a nice game from what I gathered

I don't think we need Moses again o because he won't want to sit on our bench though he has built a shelter on that same spot at Chelsea. He was an important player for us no doubt, but change is constant. I won't bother coming back if I were to be in his shoes.

Iwobi is different from Nacho.

He is our current no.10 and has clocked more minutes under Emery than Wenger. He even had an assist in their last game and was a major threat going forward for his team.He even scored in their last 2 or 3 games where Ozil assisted him.

How is he similar to Nacho who have only clocked few minutes in his teams last 3 games? When last did Nacho score or assist?

It's a real mountain to climb I guarantee you. Just imagine Wydad and Sundowns in our group. CAF no wish us well at all at all.

Only a miracle will save Lobi.
I think Lobi can beat Sundowns with proper planning and motivation. Keshi's home based lads thrash South Africa in CHAN years back. Even Kano Pillars went 2 goals up in Egypt against the mighty Al Ahly before conceeding 2 goals later on to draw 2-2 in 2009(not sure exactly).

Nothing is impossible Sir.
