2017 will be remembered for a lot of things. Amazing feats of achievement in the area of Science will be one of those things.

Science have done great in the past one year, there are great innovations and advancements in all areas from health care, to rocket science, to agriculture, and even to the trending block chain technology and cryptocurrency . The advancement is exponential and many people without science background can till appreciate this advancements.

Here in this post I have compile a list of eight ( amazing feats achieved by scientists this year, in no particular order. These feats are the works of many years of research and experimentation, some of these feats are just a step in the direction of something bigger. Watch out for 2018. Here is the list below:

A Facebook engineer has invented a new unit of your time known as a flick.

The flick has been designed to assist developers keep video effects in synchronize, consistent with an outline on the code-sharing website GitHub.

A flick, derived from “frame-tick”, is 1/705,600,000 of a second – the next unit of time after a nanosecond.

A researcher at Oxford University said the flick would not have a lot of general impact but could facilitate produce better virtual reality experiences.

Banana is the miracle fruit

MTN the leading telecommunications company in Africa, the company reached another milestone recently, during it collaboration with its partner Ericsson they successfully tested their 5G capabilities in Johannesburg, South Africa.

MTN and Ericsson trialled the first tests for lightning-fast 5G in Africa during the first week of 2018, with a live demonstration on Monday.

This follows the signing by the two companies of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at AfricaCom 2017 to collaborate on the rollout of 5G technologies in South Africa, one of the first of its kind in Africa.

The fleet of U.S. spy satellites has just welcomed a new member.

The NROL-47 spacecraft soared into Earth orbit today (Jan. 12), riding atop a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Delta IV Medium rocket that lifted off from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base at 5:11 p.m. EST (2211 GMT, 2:11 p.m. local California time).

NROL-47 will be operated by the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), which builds and manages the United States’ spy satellites. NRO missions tend to be hush-hush, and NROL-47 is no exception; no details have been released about the satellite’s planned activities. Read more in the link below
