[s]Just check out what these guys are spewing, if it was Ohaneze or any Igbo group that declared support for GEJ (who isn't Igbo) based on his achievements, some people from the left hand side of Nigeria will accuse them of tribalism and ethnic sentiments.
However this northern apex group is making it clear that it is actually a POLICY for them to support ANY northern candidate in any Presidential election. The implication is that even if Shekau or any other mad man from the North wants to be President, they will support him over any other candidate from another part of Nigeria.[/s]

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has said his commitment and method of solving corruption problems is  not dependent on the number of people his administration tries or jails in court.
Though, he said his government has tried many Nigerians to show that it did not support corruption, he said the number of people tried for corruption related offences  would never stem the tide of hydra-headed problem.
He said this at the ancient Mapo Hall, the venue for the flag-off of his campaign for a second term ticket in the 2015 elections.
According to him, “If I try 10 million Nigerians and jail 5 million, that does not stop corruption problem. Let me re-assure Nigerians that we will win war against terror. My commitment and method of solving corruption is not in terms of the number of people I try or jail.”
President Jonathan who used the forum to reel out the achievements of his administration noted that that his government had empowered over one million people through its various intervention programmes.

President Jonathan during his campaign at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Monday.
Other achievements, he said, include Lagos-ibadan expressway, power projects, Ibadan Airport renovation, Ibadan-Lagos-Kano, among other empowerment projects cited in Oyo state.
This came just as the president urged Nigerian women to vote him for another four years to liberate themselves or risk being restricted to the kitchen by the opposition.
Though the president did not mention any political party, it was apparent he was talking about the opposition who allegedly promised to cancel the offices of first ladies.
He added that the offices of first ladies galvanised women who run NGOS and enabled women use their cognitive abilities for development..”

Just decided to open a thread on this. I have read statements like "all these APC (or PDP) vuvuzelas are just noisemakers. They don't have PVC's. They won't vote on the day of Election". I want most of us to prove them wrong and tell them we ain't vuvuzelas by displaying our PVC's. By this, we will know the party (members) who have the highest number of PVC on Nairaland (Politics Section).

Politics › Buhari Campaign Donation Rises To 118M Naira by Clerverly(op): 11:40am On Jan 08, 2015
The Gen. Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation on Wednesday received N64 million to add to the initial N54 million realised in December to fund his campaign for the 2015 general elections.

This was disclosed at a meeting between the Chief of Staff of the organisation, Col. Hamid Ali (rtd), and the Buhari Support Organisations (BSO) in Abuja.

Buhari, an APC presidential flagbearer, had announced in December that Nigerians were donating into a dedicated bank account as their contribution to support his campaign.

The BSO announced that it raised the additional amount through the sale of N100 scratch cards and direct donations.

“From the last press conference Buhari had in December where he announced N54 million as the amount raised, we are happy to inform you that from that time till now, we have raised an additional N64,702,265.

“We salute the courage and commitment of Nigerians across ethnic and religious divides, who desire true change and have confidence in the ability of the General to provide the leadership that will secure our nation and prosper our people.

“We need to do more, we need more money. Go to nooks and crannies, get people to donate, urge people to do more.

“We shall not relent until we get Buhari on the presidential seat in 2015,” Ali said.

Responding questions from newsmen later, Ali said: “Buhari does not receive donations from any country but from the lowest people.”

Also speaking at the occasion, the Leader of the APC Youth Vanguard, Chinedu Okwudiri, said the support group had strong grassroots network.

“We’re carrying out door-to-door and neighbour-to-neighbour campaigns, and we will deliver 100 per cent votes to the shock and amazement of the present administration,” he said.

Mr Ade Ojodide of the Buhari Vanguard, another support group, said the group had held news conferences and would soon inaugurate groups which would carry out one-on–one campaign for Buhari.

About 85 Buhari support groups attended the appraisal meeting.

Politics › Buhari Campaign Banners Set Ablaze By Arsonists In Warri Delta State by Clerverly(op): 10:59am On Jan 08, 2015
SAN FRANCISCO, January 08, (THEWILL) – Unidentified arsonists Wednesday set ablaze the campaign banners of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, in Warri, Delta State, a pro-Buhari group, Buhari Movement For Change, (BMC), has alleged.

The group alleged that the incident happened on a day  Buhari visited the oil city for the official presentation of flag to the APC governorship candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.

The group said the banners were reportedly burnt along Ekpen Street by Okere Market Square before the campaign train of the APC presidential candidate arrived Warri.

The South South Coordinator of Buhari Movement For Change, (BMC), Prince David Iwere, who confirmed the development said   the banners were erected to welcome the APC presidential flag bearer and the governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, to Warri for the official flag presentation to Emerhor.

Iwere said the banners were burnt overnight by unknown persons who apparently felt jittery by the rising profile of the party and pro-Buhari group in the state.

He however vowed that its members wouldn’t be intimidated by the attack as they had resolved to ensure that   Buhari emerged victorious in the February 14 Presidential poll.

Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has been officially presented with the flag of the party in a campaign rally held at the Warri Township Stadium.

Addressing the rally, Buhari urged Nigerians to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government which he said has destroyed the Nigerian economy.

Buhari  said the main problems confronting the nation were insecurity and the destruction of the nation’s economy, stressing that the APC government would work tirelessly to turn the tide in all areas where the wheel of progress of the Nigerian nation had been impeded by the PDP-led government.

He said  he would employ  the best hands to manage ministries and parastatals when elected, adding that the manifesto of the party would be strictly followed.

He pointed out that all that is needed is for all Nigerians to massively vote for the APC in the next month’s elections for the journey to recover and restructure to country to begin.

“The issue facing this country, we all know, is mainly security and the destruction of the Nigerian economy, but our objective is absolutely clear, we intend to secure this country as soon as we can and efficiently manage it.

“ We do not like the unemployment, the suffering, the low standard of education, the lack of healthcare and the destruction of infrastructure, I assure you, what the chairman has told you about our manifesto, we will apply ourselves to it and make sure we succeed within the shortest possible time.

“APC government will look for competent, committed Nigerians to lead ministries and parastatals so we can make rapid development. Your cooperation and what we’ll need from you is to make sure you get your permanent voters cards and on the election day you come out en-masse and make sure you vote for APC and its candidates. You’ll also make sure that your votes count.

“If you allow PDP to continue leading this country, you will wake up one day, may be after four years that you have made the mistake, without a country. Then tell me, where else can you relocate to in this world which is better than your own country.

“We are going to remove the curse of unemployment through agriculture and mining because other areas like education and infrastructure need money, study and they need professionals. We are going to rehabilitate the four refineries we have and revive the pipelines and depots,” Buhari said.

In his speech earlier, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, assured the crowd that APC had a robust manifesto which is aimed at bettering the lots of Nigerians, particularly the youths and elderly.

While reeling out some of the programmes set aside for the youths and elderly,  Odigie-Oyegun said the APC manifesto guarantees that every child in school will have one free balanced meal every day.

“This place is mainly made up of youths and I can see women too, the APC programme, the APC manifesto is principally to guarantee the future of the youths of this nation, you won’t suffer anymore. First and foremost, the APC manifesto guarantees you three million jobs, the APC manifesto guarantees that every youth up to the age of 30, who through no fault of his own, cannot get a job, will be paid an allowance by the state.

“The APC manifesto guarantees that every child in school will have one free balanced meal every day. Finally, the APC manifesto guarantees that all our old men and women who are over 65 years will also have old age benefits sent to them”, he said.

The ceremony which started late around 6: 15pm in the evening after hundreds of the party supporters had waited endlessly for arrival of the campaign train  and left the venue had National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Director-General of the presidential campaign organisation, who doubled as the Governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Edo state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, two former Ekiti state governors, Chief Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Segun Oni, Imo state Governor Rocha Okorocha and other APC chieftains in the entourage of the presidential candidate.

There was however a mild-drama shortly after the brief rally took off when the Director-General of the presidential campaign organisation,   Amaechi, was about to speak as the crowd surged towards the VIP stand and suddenly started scampering to all direction following a push by the security personnel, a development which  caused a scare at the Township Stadium.
