Miracood2: U don't need to study medicine If u're already in a medical course. This MBBS obsession is getting out of hand.
And it's very difficult to cross to MBBS from other depts, regardless of your CGPA. Please do not try to derail someone from his dream. Most persons have done a degree in one of the medical fields, even Masters and Ph.D and still come back for medicine, why? Because it is the only thing that can give them fulfillment and satisfaction. So, I am of the opinion that a man should chase his dreams by any means(legal) possible. Good morning |

Dvd4: E be like say you no truly understand the whole ACCREDITATION ISH.
The matter na to graduate them.
Currently, RSU is still partially accredited. Even at that though. Let's wait till the first set are graduated. Though, I hope things turn out good. You and I both know that the issue of accreditation is mostly faced at the 2nd MB and 3rd MB stages. RSU scaled through all these at the first attempt. I don't think any other school in recent memory has achieved such. Yes, they have not graduated any set, but the signs are good. |

MrEgghead: You think it's that easy. Every medical school in Nigeria usually passes through the phase of accredition hitches, it's almost an unwritten rule. Even the first set at UI finished their MBBS degrees in London. UNIBEN and IFE finished theirs somewhere else and that privilege is no longer available. The aspirants should just be aware of all these in order to make wise decisions. If they think they can bear the risk of facing accreditation problems and probably spending up to 9-10 yrs, then that's good them. It's the just info and expectations that are important. Boss, not all medical schools experience accreditation issues. Take for instance, the university in my state (Rivers State), they started medicine in 2018 and not one week has been lost due to accreditation or strike. The first set that was admitted in 2018(400 level class) are preparing to write 3rd MB next week. It all depends on the seriousness of the government and management. The take off fund for the Rivers State University medical school was a whopping 7.6 Billion naira. If all state governments and the Federal government can be this committed, accreditation issues will be a thing of the past. |

spiritualmubi: thanks bro, which uni is NDU? and are these the only universities that accept? NDU is Nigeria Delta University, located in Bayelsa. I think these are the only ones. You can check the JAMB Brochure for further details. |

spiritualmubi: Amen boss, thanks. Like which schools accept Botany for D.E into medicine? NDU accepts a) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics with a minimum of 10 points at not more than two (2) sittings. b) a B.Sc. with a minimum of second class upper division in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics and Botany. UNIBEN accepts a) at least three (3) ‘A’ level passes not more than C or a minimum of 12 points in Biology or Zoology, Physics and Chemistry at not more than one (1) sitting. b) at least a Second Class Upper Division from a recognised University in either B.Sc Biological Sciences or B.Sc. Medical Sciences. (UNIBEN does not state the disciplines, but I think biological sciences should include botany). Source: JAMB Brochure |

Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Clinton39(m): 1:56pm On Nov 04, 2022 |
Ruggedfighter: 339.6 should guarantee you a spot in UNN medicine, all things being equal. My advice is that, change your institution there as you have no guarantee in UI whatsoever. As for insecurities, as far as I'm concerned, nowhere in this country is safe, so that shouldn't be an issue. Na God dey protect all of us. Do what you have to do, medicine is medicine everywhere, UNN is even a good school too. What about UNN's infamy for over admitting students and then cutting them off drastically? |

spiritualmubi: Boss, what do you suggest I do to get rid of brain fog, considering the fact that I might sit for Jamb and to be able to also graduate with good grades. I have difficulty concentrating while reading and also retention problem, It could be due to the prescribed medication I am on. My doctors suggest I should excercise what do you suggest Boss? And do you think I can cope with the Jamb and putme preps? PS: I was diagnosed to have schizophrenia when I was 18. Sorry to hear about your condition, brother These are my takes 1. Retention issues are best handled by repetition. Read the material over and over again. 2. Take breaks in between study to consolidate knowledge, and try to get enough sleep. 3. Take your doctor's advice. Exercise actually does a lot for the body than we think. 4. In prepping for UTME and handling your school works, have a working time table, and make sure you follow it consistently. If you start now, you have more than ample time to go through the UTME syllabus. God help you in everything you do. Merci. |

spiritualmubi: Hello good day Docs. I really need your advice on this. I will be starting 300 level next year January in my Botany program, but I have this passion to sit for jamb again and go for medicine. I was recently advised to complete this current degree of mine but due to me not loving this course and also the notion that when you want something so bad you should go for it at the moment, what do you guys think? PS: I will be 27 next year, I have spent 5 years already due to a reoccurring illness of mine which made me to defer a semester, and also due to the strike and covid 2. I have financial issues at the moment, as I don't have a source of income. Guys to be frank I really need advice on what should be my next line of action. Cause I always tell my self to focus on my current program but always finding my self wanting to go for medicine again. Hello bro, I might not be in the best position to advise you as I am also an aspirant and I need advice too. But nevertheless I will give you my honest advice. 1. Do not quit your current program until you have your Medicine admission letter in your hands. 2. Take UTME next year. Pray to God for a Good score. If you get the admission, then it is up to you to either defer the admission and complete your current program or, Abandon your current program and begin Medicine. Or, 3. Finish your current program, strive to get a good grade(first class or 2.1), There are schools that accept Botany for D.E into medicine. 4. As for finance, I believe it is God that provides. He will surely come through for you In all, never forget the God factor, pray to Him for guidance and I believe He will direct you on the right path to follow. See you at the top. God bless you. |

Ruggedfighter: 259 is quite low for Uniport medicine though but it's still possible if you can score very well in the post utme, since Uniport is always quite considerate with their cut off. Your aim should be nothing less than 300, even more as this case may be, I think it's possible too. Just know your stuffs very well and revise jamb past questions thoroughly. All the best. Spot on advice. UNIPORT POST UTME is PURELY JAMB past questions, solve jamb past questions for at least 20 years and you are 80% in. |

NL1960: Children of some family friends that recently entered some private universities are just discovering some other fees that they have to pay. These are the issues. |
Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Clinton39(m): 1:34pm On Nov 02, 2022 |
NL1960: On their website, it is:
FEES SCHEDULE ACCORDING TO DEPARTMENTS EFFECTIVE FROM 2022/2023 ACADEMIC SESSION (HOSTEL FEES INCLUDED)
MEDICINE AND SURGERY
First Semester - 1,175,000.00 Second Semester - 825,000.00
Total - 2 MILLION
Where did you get your 1.5m from?. I wondered too. And the thing about private schools is that sometimes that 2milla might even be audio, when you enter the school, you will meet a different scenario. |

TONYE001: Hello doc, good evening.
1. Combining studies and making money is a matter of choice. We all have our priorities, and this doesn't make anyone a bad student. Our situations are different, Mr. A's need for money may be more pressing than Mr. B's. If Mr. A decides to nas (as we call it here) some lectures to get some money, this doesn't make him a bad student. Time is limited; we only have 24 hours. I can't have extra hours, so I try to manage it without significantly compromising anything. Sometimes, I do the two at the same time (school + hustle). Other times, I dump one, and do the other and face whatever consequence that comes. I once told a senior resident that I couldn't attend clinical activities because I had a deadline I needed to beat. See?
2. Freelancing. I freelance. I write for clients, and I get paid for it.
3. Skills? Uhmmm..guess in my case, that'd be being a better writer than I was yesterday.
4. People do all kinds of things for money these days. There are lots and lots of freelance opportunities: content writing, search engine evaluation, web designing, etc. Basically, these are remote jobs you can do while schooling.
Thank you very much, chief, for finding time to read Pouvoir. I hope I've satisfactorily answered your questions. Doc, I felicitate with you on the birth of your twin girls, congratulations doc. You are indeed seeing the blessings of God. |

Lordsagna: Good afternoon here, please my elder cousin who's 25 wants to go back to medical school but everyone In the family is against it even me because of the strike and everything going on. Is it worth it go back to back to med school at that age with the inconsistency in the education sector? Hello, Whether your cousin studies medicine now or not, he will still turn 30, 40 and so on. I don't think when one is on the journey to fulfill his dreams and ambitions, that age is truly a limiting factor. I have personally seen and made friends with persons who are studying medicine in their 30s, even 40s. One of my role models on this forum, Dr. TONYE001 has repeatedly told us on this forum that he is in his thirties. He is a final year medical student now. So what your cousin needs is passion, drive and determination and the sky will be his starting point. Mercî. |

SF123: Greetings the honourable members of this forum, please what is the school fees/cost of studying medicine and surgery at Madonna University in Anambra state and Igbinedum Private University in Edo state. How good is this private institution is; in terms of studying medicine and surgery? Both universities are fully accredited by MDCN, so in my opinion they have everything it takes to make a medical doctor. The only bottleneck is the fees as both universities cost above 3million per year. |

LalastiklaIa: UI - if you can score 85 of the 100 questions
Uniport- if you don't mind the 4 core subject and some mathematics in post utme score is over 400. If you get 280+ in think you are good to go
Unical- same as uniport. But I will rate uniport transparency above unical though. Choice is yours. I wish you well this time around Very good advice. But take note uniport has stopped selling her post utme form |
