Greetings everyone. Senior chiefs in the forum, they is something i learnt in medical school. Why is it that your Course mates are not willing to share their materials or textbooks with you.... Why do most people in medical school hoard materials to the extent of trying to deviate and giving unpleasant excuses irrespective of pleading with them thoroughly...... Why is it that some of your cousemates won't respond to your chats knowing fully well that you knew that they are online and once someone just make a comments at the group chat, they got to be the first pal to view it.... Why is it that some of your coursemates are not being straightforward when you are trying to plead with them to initiate or discuss how they do their own stuffs personally and lots of more disgusting behaviors.

Please my senior chiefs in the forum, please detail to me the motive why do this happens and why do some of your coursemates does this despite your relationship with the individual

This thing is getting out of hand and it's making me to adopt the possession of behavior which they ought to portray.

You will get to plead with someone to send you a material or past questions, they will be like... I don't even know what you are talking about.
It’s simple.

There is staunch competition in every medical school.

And not everyone knows how to compete in a healthy manner.

It’s been a long time on this forum, hope everyone is good?

It’s 2024

The fact that MBBs is still a big deal makes me laugh

Like candidates still kill for this MBBs of a thing in 2024?

When tech and ground breaking innovation is the in thing now…

Lord show enlightenment to your kids
So if everyone eventually ventured into tech, you think all of us will be cashing out from it?

I see everyday on the news about the big boys like Google and Tesla laying off thousands of workers and yet you think that jumping into tech will make you rich overnight.

I can even bet my admission that you are not a tech bro.

Please I need information on inter University transfer for MBBS ?

As in , being a 300L Medicine Student in a university in Nigeria , can I transfer my studentship to another university in Nigeria and continue with my medicine? Be it a state or federal University ?
If possible, can you list out the Universities that accept inter University Transfers for Medicine ?

Thanks
My school (Rivers State University )accepts it, but transfer students are made to take MB(mostly with resit students), and they’ve done that for this year.

The next admission process for transfer students will be May/June next year(same time our senior colleagues will be writing MB).

PS: You’ll start from 200L

Smiles... Enjoy your break oo. This is the single long break you'll get. When you start proper, you'll wish for breaks and you won't get them. Just take things in their stroll, play well and read small. Just start with gross, familiarise yourself with those introductory terminologies. Maybe 2hrs a day. But Enjoy your break my brother. E get y!😂
Ah, Boss you no talk quick😂

I don already jack Upper Limb finish 😮‍💨

NeuroVic:
Bro, I don't know if I'm qualified to reply because I'm your mate who's about to start 200lvl but I'll share the advice I was given.

What my seniors told me was that I should mainly use what's used in my school.

For gross anatomy now, it's Lasts and Vishram Singh. Our Anatomy lecturers bring out all their MCQs from Lasts Anatomy and it means I have to study the book well. For theory, Vishram Singh was recommended because it's outlined and easy to understand. So, if your lecturers or seniors swear by Keith Moore, use it. If it's Charusia, go for it. Even if you don't like the one recommended in your school, study the one you like and revise with the recommended ones when the exam is close.

You also have to understand what you're studying and that's where YouTube, Atlas, Google, AI, and some apps come in handy. I don't think anyone can pass or do well in Med school exams without understanding the core concepts.

Just try your best and also pass ur exam cos it's the true test of intelligence in med school, lol. 😅

For physiology, go for Sembulingam. You can also check Guyton and hall for some things.

For Biochemistry, Satanayaran and Chakrapani or Vasudevan will do.

For histology, I'll go with Indebir Singh.

For Embryology, it's Saddler or Indebir Singh.

Don't forget your lecture slides also, because you can even pass physiology and biochemistry(I said PASS o ) in my school with them but for distinctions, you need extra effort.

Another thing is to attend classes, participate by answering questions (it'll build your confidence for viva), attempt many past questions, form a study group, start studying this holiday, use atlas for anatomy, use mnemonics when necessary cos u won't have time in exam hall, know how to write fast and draw(for theory) and study hard.

Lastly, don't forget to pray. We're nothing without God. God will help us.
Wow. This is wonderful. I really appreciate Chief. Success in all your endeavors.

Trust me, you'll soon come to realize there's never enough time in med school.

If you want to rely on textbooks, you'll be overwhelmed, and you'll end up reading irrelevant things.

Just stick to the materials. Na who pass exams Sabi book.

But if you're on break and want to do some reading, I'll recommend you start with anatomy, specifically gross anatomy.
I appreciate this boss.
Yeah, I’m on break, I’ll be resuming 200L in a month. I intend to start reading soon.

For Gross Anatomy, at first I was using Keith Moore Clinically oriented anatomy but I noticed that I spent gruesome hours on a chapter and lectures in class are moving at a fast pace. Nobody told me I had to work with time when the workloads keep piling up. Then I switched to BD Chaurasia. It is well outlined, straight to the point and detailed but it is lacking in the clinical correlations aspect. Knowing the clinical correlations is very important as medical students as all our knowledge tends towards the clinical practice. This is what distinguished us from Anatomy students. Then I found another textbook "Vishram Singh". This textbook is very good and it is my major textbook though I check Keith Moore and other textbooks for reference

For Embryology, Either Langman by Sadler or Developing Human by Keith Moore is better. Sadler is precise and straight to the point but if you really want to know your stuff very well, go for Developing Human.

For Histology, I prefer Junqueira compared to Indebir Singh

For Physiology, use Sembuligam. It is well outlined and straight to the point. But for hyperstuff, use Guyton though it is not well outlined and might be difficult to read at first.

For Biochemistry, stick to your lecturers' slides. Vasudevan is okay though people talk of Satayarana that it is good too. Harper's illustrated biochemistry is good too but might be difficult to read as a starter
Thank you very much for this Boss.

I truly appreciate.

I'll advice you just stick to lecturers' materials and use textbooks only as a last resort.
Okay boss.

But this strategy sounds like one to just pass exams. I’d like to know my onions too, or what do you think?

Then your medical school is not complete. All this Uni ilorin self. No wonder you have all this time on line. Dental student do housemaship,is even harder than medicine. While medical students do majorly 3 courses in preclinical dental do 5. Addition are oral anatomy, and oral physiology. If you can survive as dental student in Ife then you can survive any where in the world.

Start reading from now especially Gross Anatomy. Once you resume and start lectures, it becomes more difficult.

Also know that time is never enough in Pre-clinicals. Study, study and study.

Know what works best for you and know what your lecturers want. Your classmates might be killing themselves with Keith Moore whereas it might be Chaurasia you like.

Above all, don't be a lone ranger. Join study groups or have classmates you study together with.

Learn from mistakes of your seniors. Ask your seniors questions.

Medical school is not about hard work only, it is about smart work too.
Thanks boss.
I appreciate.

Hi Medics,

It's been a very long walk for me. I recall when I first found this thread, it was when I was looking for admission into medschool. I once wrote then that I'd be back here one day to share my testimony. Today is that day. As of yesterday, I qualified as a medical doctor.

The past seven years have really been interesting. I was supposed to finish medschool in 5 years as I was a DE student. But Nigeria happened to me, I got two more years even though I did not repeat any class. But here I am today celebrating success.

I thank you all for all you do here. I thank the creator of this thread (Chief Lagusta). I thank the posters. I thank those that ensured this page didn't die. This thread helped me, it helped many before me, and it will help many after me. I've just concluded my medschool diary, if interested, you may want to read through it.

For all those still in the training, and for those still trying to get in, I wish you all success. It's possible, just continue trying.

Best wishes, friends. Have a great evening.

Dr. Tonye001.
Congratulations my Chief.

Indeed God is gracious.
Your story was one of the major things that both inspired and motivated me to where I am today, and I strongly believe that just as I have started, I too will share my testimony when the time is right.

Congratulations once again Dr. Tonye.
I wish you all the best in the next phases of your life.

Greetings to all the amazing personalities of this great forum. Age goes by what it`s called. I am 22 now. Does my age an impediment or a limiting factor still be considered because of not being in medical school by now; going by my classmates and those that i am ahead of in secondary school are now currently in 300l ,200l, 100l. Sporadically as per say some are through with ND, IT while some just gained admission to study one course or the other but not actually their dream course, although some are lucky because they got their heart desired course. My stand here is..is age an impeding factor in medical school using my self as a reference point?
Hello Chief,
In my honest opinion, you shouldn't even be asking this.

22 years? Dah, you are a very young man

There are more than 10 persons in my class who are over 40. Most of them are married with children.
But here they are, chasing hard after their dreams because the race of life is not a Sprint but a marathon. Each person has his own race to run, and you are not in a competition with anyone.

It's all a matter of purpose and passion. If you strongly believe that this is what you are meant to do with your life, then carry on my brother, nothing do you.

When you finally get in, it will be worth it and you will forget all your toiling and labour, trust me.
May God bless everything you do.

Please chat me on Whatsapp
I lost your number.

You don't like something, leave it for those who like it, it isn't by force. "Your rant here is the bla bla bla", like you know anything about me. Once again, stop being bitter, a lowlife and an hater and get your miserable self off the thread. If you quote me again, I'll quote you and tell you what you need to hear.
