Wait.... So DPR suddenly rediscovered their love for emails when sending posting letter eh.... But they decided to use haphazard phone calls to distribute ĺetters, hmmmmmm What happened to all the reasons given for using phone calls? What if someone didnt check their email and didnt show up at the location they where posted? I really thought phone calls were the most reliable means of communication oh. Unless someone intentionally decided not to leave a paper trail when distributing letters I see no other reason for their choice of phone calls. My people. We go dey alright 10 Likes |

You cant put the poor turn out entirely down to docility Brother. Remember the day prior to the protest, the convener said he was offered stick or carrot and the custodian of the list went silent. Even on the morning of said protest, silence. I understand why but abeg leave Nigerian youth they have been through enough. And besides, I feel the list as it is on twitter is not enough to build a protest on. Unless one really has assurances on the authenticity of the list from @neverdown999 himself. If it had been a picture, stamped and signed, then trust me you will not need to convince people to go to DPR and ask for their letters. That one eh, they must produce the letters. dozylala: |

Apparently, that is not Grace/Destiny according to some. Walking into an interview, ticking all the right boxes, to be selected ahead of others who may be equally or more better on their day. No that is not destiny/grace. Having names swapped/inserted is now the definition of grace/destiny. We go dey alright. realone2012: |

Yes oh they cannot. All people are asking is for those that succesfully scaled through all the stages be recruited. Is that too much to ask? Imagine someone being selected amongst the top 400 out of thousands only to be knocked off just like that It's unfortunate that the custodians of the leaked list have chosen to keep mum! hyp3r: 1 Like |

If i'm reading between the lines correctly, Marvel65 is saying; 1. Some merit candidates remained on the merit list because they had backing from some corners. 2. Some stake holder candidates where added because they performed well anyways. 3. Because of reasons 1 and 2 above do not fold your hands and depend on the leaked merit list because those that may have performed as well as you or close are making their moves 4. It is well P.S.: Please has any one from Rivers state been contacted? I dont know why my people arent on Nairaland. @Marvel65 any hints for a Riverian that spotted their ref no on the leaked list? 1 Like |

LOL. You cant expect them to board a boat then help those that haven't boarded yet to rock said boat now. Calm down guys. I think @neverdown999 must've been called too, he can correct me if I'm wrong. Guys @Marvel65 @neverdown999 @dozylala you can at least help those trying board by letting them know if the process is still on or ended. That way they can move on. Thanks |

I'm sorry but I think people can at least ask where the list came from. Did someone with access to reference numbers just sit somewhere and assemble the list? Even @Marvel65 who seems to be the most informed here didn't outrightly dismiss the list. He didnt endorse it either though. Its just unfortunate that the person that originally posted the list has gone silent both here and on twitter. Why? |

Guys, social media ranting may not really do much, may even have adverse effects. Can we all please exercise some patience and at least confirm first that DPR are done contacting candidates. 3 weeks ago people thought stakeholders had taken all the slots, A week ago after the first round of calls people also thought they were done, now just after yesterday folks are jumping to conclusions again. Please keep calm. 1 Like |

hmmm, I hope the DPR have a very reason for this haphazard pattern they have chosen to reach out to candidates. It is sure to take a toll on the mind. I for one believe Merit candidates will not be shortchanged even if you haven't heard from them still. @Marvel65 will do well to further allay fears @elbangeez I understand your frustration and I understand the pain behind most of your comments. But I cant quite understand you saying you will not receive your APL, thats unjustifiable. |

I hope so too, considering GTs are susceptible to substitution. Although it seems many Engineers will be called and they are Engineering. So you can confirm more GTs will be called? Marvel65: |

So many comments on here making me laugh... Arguments and counter arguments, few have their eyes on the ball. Arguments against the list 1. It is incomplete 2. Some who may have already been called by merit yet cannot find their names on the list. 3. All zones are not equally reprsented 4. It is typed not a picture Arguments 1 and 2 may cancel each other out, they cannot find their names on the list simply because it is incomplete. Argument 3: We cannot from the reference numbers alone conclude that the candidates are from those zones, I think that a significant percentage of those with Ref numbers DPR/ABJ/... will be southerners thus balancing the ratios. Argument 4: Its a typed tweet, the person chose that probably to protect their source, or for mischievous reasons (altering some numbers) But who knows, maybe the list was the merit list at some stage but was changed maybe because of course, zone and other considerations. Arguments for the list: 1. How else someone would have access to genuine reference numbers of a large number of candidates. 2. The number at least is close (300+) to the intended number of recruits Maybe they had access to a list from Snapnet, not necessarily DPRs list. The onus falls on those that posted the list to clear all doubts. PS: I believe some elements within DPR actually intend for this recruitment to be largely merit based. Mr Shakur has to be commended. If they never meant to recruit people on merit trust me, you wont even see any loophole to question the process. They will just brazenly do it. I am not encouraging a protest. But if you see your name on the list ask questions and any steps you are taking ensure it would not affect those elements fighting for you adversely. 5 Likes |

@phillip4re I replied you through another email For those asking for the list, find it on page 753 or https://twitter.com/NepotismEnd A special mention to those asking for the status quo to be maintained / no protest. What’s obvious is that even if Mr Shakur himself came forward to present a particular list as being authentic, as the one existing before the process began to be compromised, there would those who would ask the shortchanged ones to “be happy” to “do nothing”. Seeing how well doing nothing has worked for them so far. Abi? I understand that you have to protect your interest, but do not hide under the pretense of being interested in well-being of the many. As for those that find their names on the list or those who are in interested in seeing something BEING DONE RIGHT FOR ONCE. Your primary aim should be ensuring that the list is indeed that of merit candidates, not protesting. Let’s talk via email |

For those who spotted their reference number on the supposed list, all you may get at the end of the day is a sense of justification that you were cheated. This is because as you can already notice, folks who discover their reference numbers do not appear on the list may become disinterested as "they didnt make it anyways" and will choose not to cry more than the bereaved. A few voices (some of which have already picked up their APLs) may not cause DPR to pay as much attention. Altruism is needed from all, I mean all of you. Then there is the issue of doubt, is the list really Genuine? An all out protest on a list whose veracity you cannot ascertain? And If there's one thing I know about book smart folks they are often reticent, doubt themselves and may likely choose to err on the side of caution. Your best bet here is for DPR to do the right thing (wishful thinking) or that by a stroke of luck the nitty gritty of this recruitment gets to the ear of the highest office in the Land (I genuinely believe the President will do the right thing). It would not be right if at the end of the day nothing comes of this. WE as a country cannot continue along this path, IT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. Those behind the posting of the list, if indeed it is genuine, reach out. More needs to be done. 1 Like 1 Share |

hmmmm..... Concerning the list posted on twitter, it is obvious that the reference numbers (i.e. DPR/.../../...) are actually Genuine reference numbers that participated in the recruitment process, whether the list is actually that of candidates that scaled through the interview stage is another question. To ascertain if the list is genuinely the merit list you guys can first of all confirm that everyone there was invited for the interview through invites, then confirm that the list is predominantly engineering, confirm that the fields are represented, then confirm that all states and geopolitical zones are represented. Any other suggestions are welcome. I am inclined to believe that the list is Genuine (unless someone painstakingly assembled reference numbers in such a random but precise fashion) but not without BIAS, even at the point this list was assembled it is obvious that some zones had already been short changed. Except there could be another valid reason for those who held their tests in Port Harcourt having only 11% representation. P.S.: @Marvel65 I know someone who's Ref number is among the few from the POR zone that made the alleged merit list posted, yet they havent gotten as much as a flash from DPR. Considering that about 20+ people (out of the alleged 33) picked up their APLs from POR zone last week, what advice do you have for that person? was the shortchanged shortchanged? |

If you could go through the rigors of leaving a paper trail (texts and emails) for the first two stages of the recruitment (test and interview), common sense (very very common sense) suggests that you ensure the same applies to the last and most important stage of the recruitment (the distribution of letters). At least to present a semblance of fairness. Even if you have selected your own candidates through whatever means, leave a paper trail just for professionalism. But we have abandoned reason, decency, and empathy and have embraced crassness. Paraphrasing one commentator on the thread, even if they are contacted now the recruitment appears to have been tainted. Perhaps I misunderstood a statement from one top boss "We are praying that politicians don't hijack the recruitment", reading between the lines "We are praying they allow us to do hijacking ourselves" For those who are hurting right now, it will pass. Who knows you may yet be called. The most important thing though is that you do not miss the lessons this experience was meant to teach you. "Justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done" 7 Likes 1 Share |
