·٠• The Wisdom Of Luqman ·٠•

The son of Luqman said to his father, ' O my beloved father, which quality of man is the best? '

He replied, 'Deen.'

He then asked, ' If there were two? '

He replied, 'Deen & Wealth.'

He asked, ' If there were three? '

He replied, 'Deen, Wealth & Modesty.'

He asked, ' If there were four? '

He replied, 'Deen, Wealth, Modesty & Good Character. '

He asked, ' If there were five? '

He replied, 'Deen, Wealth, Modesty, Good character & Generosity. '

He said, ' If there were six? '

Luqman replied, 'O my son! If a person had these five qualities combined in him, he would be pure and pious and a friend of Allah. He would be free of Shaitaan.'

Luqman said, 'I have moved rocks and carried speech, but i have not seen anything heavier than debt.
I have eaten wholesome foods and embraced good deeds, but i have never witnessed anything tastier than health and vitality. '

He said, ' When you are engaged in Salaah, then protect your heart.
When you are engaged in eating,
then protect your throat.
If you are in someone else's home,
then protect your eyes.
When you are amongst people, then protect your tongue.

Think of two things and forget two;

As for the two you should remember;
they are Allah and death.

And the two which you should forget are; The good you have done for others, and the evil done to you by others.'

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuhu.

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) used to say: "Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina (O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity and self-sufficiency)".
[Muslim]

Commentary: This Hadith contains four word, the meanings and implications of which constitute its essence. These words are guidance, piety (fear of Allah), chastity and sufficiency. Guidance here means guidance at every turn of life and steadfastness on the path of truth. Fear of Allah is the greatest means of piety and strongest defense against sins. Chastity is the state of being free from what is unlawful. Self-Sufficiency is the antonym of poverty and here it means the self-contentment. What it implies is that one should not care for what people possess. In view of all these qualities, the prayer of the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned in this Hadith is very comprehensive and valuable.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) decreed that one should not try to cancel a bargain already agreed upon between some other persons (by offering a bigger price). And a man should not ask for the hand of a girl who is already engaged to his Muslim brother, unless the first suitor gives her up, or allows him to ask for her hand.

FAJR REMINDER: *IT CREATES FENCES*
By: Umm Affan
20 Rabi Al-Thani, 1438 (19-January-2017)

This _Dunya_ (worldly life) is minuscule and short. But, we actually still see people ready to have its pleasure with whatever it takes. Pathetically, they even go into debt – especially taking loan from _Riba_ (usury) based banks. Islam dislikes this (i.e. debt), warns against it and urges us to avoid it as much as possible, because it creates worry by night and causes humiliation by daytime. Evidently, it is crystal-clear that, debt can imperil one’s moral and build fences to prospects. In fact, the prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) would not offer the funeral prayer on a person who had died in a state of debt and have no enough property to repay, until it is paid for him.

Brethren! When we borrow, let always be mindful of the obligation of repayment. The Prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) said: *“If a man borrows from people with the intention of repaying them, Allah will help him to repay it; while if he borrows without intending to repay them, Allah will bring him to ruin.”* [Sahih Muslim] More importantly, let’s be constant in seeking Allah’s Protection from debt as the Prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) did, by saying; *“Allahumma innee a’oodhu bika min al-ma’thami wa’l-maghram” [Translation: O Allah! I seek Your Protection from sin and debts].* When he was asked regarding this supplication, he replied: *“When a man falls in to debt, he speaks lies and breaches his promises.”* [Sahih Bukhari] .

I beseech Allah to help us repay our debts and protect us from ruin.
(Aameen)

Abu Hurairah(RA) reported: The prophet(PBUH) said, A man set out to visit a brother (in faith) in another town and Allah sent an angel on his way. When the man met the angel, the latter asked him, "Where do you intend to go?" He said, "I intend to visit my brother in this town. "The angel said, "Have u done any favour to him?" He said, "No, I have no desire except to visit him because I love him for the sake of Allah, the Exalted, and the Glorious. "Thereupon the angel said, I am a messenger to you from Allah(to inform you) that Allah loves you as you love him(for His sake)." (Muslim)

This hadith points out the following;

*The great merit of visiting Muslims for Allah's sake*
*The bond of brotherhood in Islam is much stronger than the bonds of blood relationship and worldly interests and, therefore, comes before them in preference*
*Whoever love someone for Allah's sake, Allah will love him in a manner that suits His Majesty*

"Fasbir Sabran Jamiila"
Patience is one of the most beautiful atributes one can ever have. It makes you listen, understand, forgive, forget, endure & move on in life.
May Allah (SWT) increase our patience & forgive all our sins.
Ameen.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He whom Allah intends good, He make him to suffer from some affliction.
[Al-Bukhari]

Commentary: Troubles of this world like grief, calamity, disease, poverty, loss of life, and property, etc., have a benign aspect for a Muslim in the sense that on account of them he turns towards Allah and begs mercy and compassion from Him because of which his sins are forgiven. Thus in troubles there is a blessing for him in the Hereafter.

Loving and Caring for each other for the sake of Allah

The Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) narrated that his Lord said:

"My love is guaranteed for two who love one another for My sake; My love is guaranteed for two who visit one another for My sake; My love is guaranteed for two who help one another (financially) for My sake; My love is guaranteed to two who uphold ties with one another for My sake."

[Narrated by Ahmad, 4/236 and 5/236; al-Tanaasuh by Ibn Hibbaan, 3/338; the two ahaadeeth were classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa'l-Tarheeb, 3019, 3020, 3021]

Ibn 'Abbas and Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "If a son of Adam were to own a valley full of gold, he would desire to have two. Nothing can fill his mouth except the earth (of the grave). Allah turns with mercy to him who turns to Him in repentance".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith deals with man's greed and his lust for material wealth. Only the person who has a perfect Faith can save himself from it.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with hin) reported: Allah's Messenger (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said, "Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices by overbidding against one another; do not hate one another; do not harbour malice against one another; do not enter into commercial transactions when others have entered into that (transaction); but be you, O slaves of Allah, as brothers. A Muslim is the brother of another; he neither oppresses him not does he look down upon him, nor does he humiliate him, Piety is here (and he pointed to his chest three times). It is enough evil for a Muslim to hold his Muslim brother in contempt. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother-in-faith: his blood, his property and his honour." (Muslim)
