Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow)*

155. And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).*

156. Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return."*

214. Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!

A'salam alaykum warahmotullah wabarakatuh

Organs:

Yes you can brush your teeth with paste and water. Remember what can spoil your fast is anything going down the throat "INTENTIONALLY", if you brush to keep your teeth clean and to have fresh breadth, understand that is your intention and if anything should go down the throat unintentionally, you are fine, Allah knows best.

Fine, It does not break the fast because it does not reach the stomach, but it is better for a person not to use it except after breaking the fast. One can even use the Miswak or the brush without the toothpaste. Allah knows the best.

personal59:

it does equate to food. but if otherwise please bring forth the hadith

The nutritious intravenous injection is a matter of dispute among scholars:

The first view is it invalidates the fast: This is the view of Sheikh As-Sa`dy, Ibn Baz, Ibn `Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on their souls), and the Islamic Fiqh Academy. The evidence to that is: it is similar to food and drink, so the one who takes these injections will be in no need for food and drink.

The second opinion: it does not break the fast because they do not reach the stomach through the usual outlets. Assuming they reach the stomach, they reach through the pores, and that is not the stomach and is not similar to the stomach.
The soundest view/more correct opinion is: they invalidate the fast because the reason is not reaching the stomach but achieving nutrition which is done by these injections.

One of the things I first learnt in philosophy is that you can have a belief without thinking that your belief is correct/right. If you believe in something then you must believe it is the right and that also means seeing other beliefs as incorrect. One cannot say I believe it is Monday but I don't truly think it's Monday. If you believe it is Monday then you must believe that it is regardless if others think it's Tuesday and you must believe that you are right and they are wrong. Having beliefs rules out relativism and states that there is ONE TRUTH.

* I hope I didn't confuse anyone*

* Honestly thinking about the idea of believing in one truth made me reflect deeply especially because we are usually told to accept people's beliefs and culture and it is intolerant not to do so, whereas really, having beliefs requires that conviction that one is right and others are wrong. There cannot be two truths.*

Anyways the point I am trying to make is when you say la ilah ha illah lah... do you really belief with conviction or are you just saying it because other say it?

When you say you are Muslim who believes in Allah, do you do that with conviction believing that Islam is the truth?

This is the basis of Tawhid

Salam. What about if me and my husband engage in light petting with each other without having sex? Will it break the fast?

I am talking about just gloving caressing and light kisses.

I think its allowed as long as u guys dont exceed limit. But, can u guys really ascertain that?.

There's an hadith where Aa'ishah (May Allah be please with her) said; the prophet(pbuh) used to kiss and romance her whilst he was fasting, but that he (pbuh) has capability over his manhood and mind. Dunno if i narrated the hadith the exact way it goes.

Which one sis? The toothpaste or the injection?

The injection. Some said nutritional injection does not equate to food, as that alone is not sufficient.

Salam alaykum.

No toothpaste doesn't break the fast if not swallowed

They do because it is comes under eating and drinking.

There's difference of opinion among the scholars on this.

Ramadan Day Two

Leave No Stone unturned in Getting Reward

Allaah has made fasting Ramadaan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins, as was proven in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 2014; Muslim, 760) from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

And al-Bukhaari and Muslim also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

Acts of good deeds that can earn us reward in this blessed month are numerous. The one who hopes to benefit from the blessings of Allaah in this month will do everything possible to achieve this. Hence, let's leave no stone unturned in doing good deeds that will help us accumulate reward. May Allaah make it easy for us and reward us abundantly.

Aameen

*Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbour, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should entertain his guest generously and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet. The only way to stop any pain in your life is to accept the fact that nothing is yours, nothing was yours, and nothing will ever be yours. They are worldly attachments; given by Allaah, belonging to Allaah and returning back to Allaah..!!

So a true believer with aqeedatus saheeha will say "inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhir raaji'oon" whenever he loses something....

I found this just at the right tym. Something very valuable to me was stolen right under my nose. It hurts a lot and it almost made me miserable. But, Alhamdullilah i'm gradually recuperating. JazakumLlahu khayran for this post. It meant a lot.

*The Prohibition of Backbiting and the Commandment of Guarding one's Tongue*

1526. Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said,

_"During the Mi'raj (the Night of Ascension), I saw a group of people who were scratching their chests and faces with their copper nails. I asked, 'Who are these people, O Jibril?'_

Jibril replied: _'These are the people who ate flesh of others (by backbiting) and trampled people's honour.'''_

*[Abu Dawud].*

*Commentary:*  "These are the people who ate flesh of others'' is a metaphor for backbiting. "To trample people's honour'' is akin to harming their goodwill and honour. The punishment for these things mentioned in Hadith makes their seriousness obvious.

First all, I am having a little problem understanding some of the terms you used or it could be typo error?. I did get the msg sent to u on fb but how does that equates "misguidance"?. He has the right to support his Shiekh. Besides, it seems yourself and others are quite unaware of the use of the term "radiyaAllahu anihu" being used for other than sahaba. You can not just conclude or assume someone is misguided just for using the phrase for non sahabi. This is illiteracy on yout side.

Others here are also constituting nuisance over trivial issue. Besides, I am just curious why are you people so worried when RTA is used thier sheikh?. What if someone intends to write (abbreviate) RadiyaAllahu Ta'la Anihu (RTA) or RodiyaAllahu Ta'ala Anihu (RTA). How can you tell the difference?. Why are you people so paranoid?.

Anytime those guys use RTA for their shuyukh, it is usually in form of dua. In the Quran, it is used affirmatively by Allah guaranteeing that Allah is pleased with them. But any other than nabiy and sahab is not guaranteed but doesn't mean we can't use it. Even SAW and AS are used interchangeably for nabi Muhammad. So why is this an issue?. The only way you can effectively refute them is by bringing evidence from kitab and sunnah that "RTA -rodiyaAllahu tala anihu" can not be used for non sahabi. If you can't bring evidence, then, you people are speaking out of ignorance and desire. That means you probably would have problem with them if they write or say RA after mention of their shuyukh. How can you tell the difference?. Why do you people place yourself ahead of Allah and His messenger by declaring fellow muslim "misguided base on your desire?. So far, none of you established evidence against the use of it. So please desist fro calling people innovators, misguided and whatever adjective you use for them. This approach is not islamic.

I only asked him why he used RTA for his sheikh, he couldnt answer that, but he had to swear by Allah's name to buttress his point. I'm sure didnt see the point he made?

Allah says in Q9:100

And the foremost to embrace Islam of the Muhajirin
and the Ansar and also those who followed them exactly
(in faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are
well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them
Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell
therein forever. That is the supreme success.
Allah mentions that He is pleased foremost with
the Muhajirin, Ansar and those who followed
them in faith, and that they are well-pleased with
Him, for He has prepared for them the gardens of
delight and eternal joy.

Monopoly

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “He who holds a monopoly is a sinner.” [Sahih Muslim]

A Muslim is one who likes for others what he likes for himself. To hoard and monopolize what others need, and over-charge for it, contradicts the character that Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) wants us to develop and exhibit towards each other. A Muslim cannot be a capitalist, because for him Allah’s Pleasure has the highest priority, not money.

There is no shortage with Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). So instead of squeezing what you want out of other people, ask Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to give it to you.
May Almighty Allah ease our Affairs. Amin

Yeah I agree but what if she can't. What if she married him against her parents wishes or the man believes thay he should establish himself. So she marries him
And

Also I think there might be other arguments not just about finances but other things. For example their expectations of each other and views in life. Say she would like a maid becsuse they can afford it but he belived that would be a waste of money. Or she likes to go on vacations and buy expensive phones or jewelleries but he doesn't agree on that. He believes all that is useless and not important.

I used to think that financial status isn't that important because they can always help each other and wealth is from Allah. There are also hadith that speak on picking piety over wealth. However, I have come to realize that finacial status plays alot more than just being able to afford and buy things. For example, it probably played a role in how they were raised and their prospective on life and it could affect their expectations of their spouse.

Imagine a case where a woman who is used to her high standard of living marrying a man who is not that wealthy, therfore she finds it difficult to adapt and they start having arguments because of it.

Finance is very important in marriage and its even one those things that cause issues btw man and wife. However, as per the case study u cited, if the woman is the rich one, she shouldnt let her wealth and financial independence make her blind to the importance of respecting her husband's right over her. She ought to take care of him and honour him regardless of his financial state. It will even be good for her if she spends generously on her husband cos by doing so she'll be receiving two rewards, one for taking care of a family member, and also for giving charity. Regardless of all these, i think its best to marry someone who can fulfil one's financial need.
