People would run to see therapists if they were cost effective as well as competent. Most can get one to talk and analyse every issue but they don't know how to help the client solve his/her own problem.

this is one of the best misconception about therapy, only an analytic counsellor would analyse a client, counselling is free if you know were to go, and we do not help anyone solve their problem, they must do that for themselves. More to the point some of you are so quick to rescue that u do not see what is important, when a relative is sick you become weak to their needs so you try to be nice feeding their illness, not thinking beyond what is making this person sad because you are to close to them, what if that person was to say to you, the reason why they are depressed is because they raped little girls, how would you take that seriously think about it. well a therapist is trained to stay one step ahead of the client because, i would have seen the signs before they surprised me and i would have asked them the question first therefore gaining control of the situation, that is what a counsellor does. When a person feels confuse a counsellor is the person who help them to sort things out one at a time. You would not believe how dangerous it is i have a counsellor for myself called a supervisor and so does she and it goes on, because we take the pain from the person and believe me if a client is suicidal i could begain to have suicidal thoughts, by showing that we understand how they are feeling and we will not judge them are hate them we make them feel safe that is our goal.
