In other news, anti vaxxers are trying to minimize the measles outbreak currently going on. The outbreak has claimed the life of an unvaccinated child in Texas. First measles death in over 10 years.

RFK is claiming outbreaks like this are normal when we’re only in February and already have such a high number. If the trend persists, it will surpass whatever we’ve had in recent years.

After all, in the 2000, America celebrated the elimination of measles. It wasn’t until right wing conspiratorial moms started their anti vaccine propaganda did we start to see kids getting sick with these types of diseases again. And even then, no child has died in 10 years until now.

They’re doing all this refusing to understand that babies under 9 months can’t even get a single dose of the vaccine so they are especially at risk. Also people with weakened immune systems can’t get it either. They too are at risk. Herd immunity protects everyone including those who can’t get the vaccine.

This anti-healthcare, anti-science and anti-intellectualism brand of politics is very dangerous.

I don't even see how that aligns with any form of Christianity.

Too much foresight. We can’t have that.

Healthcare based conspiracy theories are easier and pack a better punch when your making a politically charged statement.
IjeBos:
Like the programs that provided aid on ebola. They were probably concerned if they didn't fight it and understand it outside the US, if and when it did hit the US it would be devastating. So, in one sense it was aid, on the other it was preventative for US citizens. So, if it did come to the US, how much more money would we be spending then?.

Cruelty is his stock in trade.

Did you watch his face as he talked about removing Palestinians from Gaza?
Or when that plane collision happened the reporter asked him if he planned to visit the site, he replied “go where? Swimming?” As if people who went to pay their respects at the site had to jump into the water to do so. I mean he didn’t even need to go. All he had to say was “I have no plans for that right now”. Simple straight forward.

They think having empathy is weakness and if you’re passionate about something humane, you are “emotional”. To them that’s worse than being a hard hearted awful human being.

He’s absolutely unequivocally awful.
IjeBos:
It's absolutely evil and demonic to shut down the programs overnight the way Trump did.
If he wanted to make the argument he had the power to and the programs were a waste he should have at least given the partners 3 months to find alternatives or slow shut them down.
Now there will be people who relied on that food, or HIV medication, other medication, or numerous other things who would have had to find alternatives overnight.
It's the kind of thing you go to hell for.

There is a difference between that and appointing someone because of colour race religion.
Public buildings follow certain codes,
There were always provisions for the disabled in every society, DEi seems to be like an extension of common sense norms .
You’re almost there.

Are there provisions for disabled people everywhere in Nigeria? If not maybe then you’re realizing those codes and rules exist for a reason. Because if they aren’t enforced, people will not implement them.

You and I agree that it’s common sense to use the most qualified person for each role, but the actual facts disagree with you and I. Just because it’s common sense doesn’t mean people are overlooking their biases and implementing this common sense principle.

That’s literally why the enforcement exists. Without enforcement few people will apply it.

Only if you’re deliberately choosing to disregard relevant history and current events will you say DEI is not useful to prevent discrimination.

I didn't know Texas Governors are appointed by somebody.
DEI is more than appointments or who occupies a position. It includes making spaces accessible to everyone regardless of skin color, disability, gender etc.
In his case, the building where he works has access for him to roll his wheelchair into partly because of DEI.

Obviously he’s privileged because he’s a governor but outlawing DEI means any organization that wishes to can legally exempt themselves from making their spaces accessible to disabled people and have no consequences for it.

You guys just condemn whatever you’ve been told is a bad thing. No understanding of what it is you’re even talking about .

And to watch Republicans or worse Elon who’s an immigrant like myself get to decide if my family may retire or not based on what programs he deems useful/useless is a slap to the face. And most of the time he makes these decisions high on ketamine without any regard to the lives he’s upending.

I still work in the US but on my free time, I help the govt workers on base because they’re so short staffed they need all the volunteers they can get. That’s the same govt service Elon is messing with. Calling them wasteful. Why don’t we just send people home to die then so we don’t waste money saving their lives?

If someone doesn’t understand why something is an important issue to the people experiencing it, the prudent thing would be to not tell them how to react to it. That just pissed me all the way off but I’m over it now 😂.

A rapist who brags about sexually assaulting women, who talks about how he used to walk into teenage girls changing rooms in the pageant he owned, pressures a weaker govt to release a couple of rapists/sex traffickers and his supporters are shocked? What did they think you were supporting?

When has he ever made a pretense of being a moral person? Contrary to what some of his followers say, I’ve been observing Trump and he never actually claimed to be a the holy man of God. They gave him that title all on their own and he gladly accepted it when he saw it was another way he could garner votes. And he would quickly dump that title too if it didn’t serve him anymore.

Their lack of discernment is to his benefit. Because I’m not surprised by any of his actions. That some of them guys are surprised makes me wonder who it is they’ve been looking at.

They are very careful with you since after the election. You insult them at whim and don't know when to stop. American politics brought out the worst in you.
Okay missy. Their insults are respect. Only when I respond in kind is it disrespectful.
You in particular have come at me disrespectfully few times that I ignored because I didn’t want to be accused of misunderstanding a situation. And I always told myself you had good intentions so I ignored the delivery.

But for you to be outrightly disrespectful the way you’ve been and expect me to stomach it shows I might have been mistaken about you.

The worst in me is not supporting a man who’s not ashamed to say he finds his daughter sexually attractive?
There are lines I won’t cross and Trump has drawn many of them. If you’re shocked that I don’t support a rapist, you and I clearly didn’t understand where each other stood initially.

That you continue to support him means the worst you think he’s brought out in other people was always in you.

Your hate for other people is what’s making you support a clearly deranged man. Maybe you should look in the mirror.

What should we now say about you that doesn’t even live here yet you have big opinions? If I can’t express my opinions because I’m not white or second generation. By that logic, doesn’t that mean you shouldn’t even be smelling this thread? Make it make sense.

Btw a geeen card is not a passport. I had a green card in Nigeria. Now I have both a blue and red passport. If you don’t know what either of those are, google before contributing.

In British politics, I stay back and learn.
that’s exactly what you should be doing to American politics. Sit back and learn because you know nada. You have it backwards. You should Sit back and learn about American politics but stay active and pay attention to your own politics that will affect you and your future generations. Misplaced priorities if you ask me

I learn from the English people and our people that have been here for so long. There are some things the news will not tell you, you decipher cos you have been in the system for long.
So how long have you been in the American system that you have all this wisdom to share? Did you get to the point and walk past it? The point that you have to learn some things for yourself before speaking on them? Because that’s clearly not what you’re doing now.

I have a reason why I say I don't like going dirty online.

America brought out the worst in you unless all these years you have been pretending.
I don’t know you from anywhere. All you know is that you found Trump and jumped on the bigotry bandwagon damned whoever gets burned.

A House budget framework that calls for hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid has passed on the floor by a vote of 217-215.
The House of Representatives last night voted 217-215 to adopt its budget proposal that calls for $2 trillion in spending cuts, some of which could potentially impact Medicaid and other key health care programs. The bill, which focuses on the Trump administration's agenda on border security, defense, energy and taxes, also allows for up to $4.5 trillion in spending for tax cuts and would raise the debt ceiling by $4 trillion.

In a statement shared yesterday with the media prior to the House vote, AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack said the chamber should construct a path forward on budget reconciliation that “protects Medicaid from harmful cuts that would impact access to care for millions of Americans.”

“On behalf of the hospitals, nurses, doctors and those who care for and serve the needs of the 72 million patients that rely on Medicaid, we urge you to consider the implications of hinging the budget reconciliation bill’s fate on removing health care access for millions of our nation's patients,” Pollack said. “These are hardworking families, children, seniors, veterans, and disabled individuals who rely on essential health care services.”
