Yes am blaming the POV. first we didn't get to see her expression as the city burned and we don't clearly know what she was targeting - for me she was targeting the buildings, you?
melodyogonna:
I just rewatched it now, am really sad innocent civilians where burned...

but she was demolishing the buildings.
You know what? Lets die this matter. The last episode is in a couple of hours. Lets see if we would be able to make sense outta all that happened to justify or condemn her actions in E5. Thats if she no commit another one. grin

The show is wrong by showing the burning from everyone's POV but Dany's. It would have been clearer she was targeting buildings not people running for their lives on the streets.
You are now blaming the POV of the burning as shown to the audience. grin grin just to justify or exonerate Dany as a Mad queen.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by codedguy1(m):
melodyogonna:
watch the episode again, she wanted to burn the city to the ground so she mainly targeted buildings. hard to burn only buildings in a very poorly planned city like kingslanding, most of the people were killed by the collapsing buildings and the soldiers. some were killed by the fire ofcourse, dragon fire is not very accurate.
Haha this is the funniest thing i have read here.

Burning which building? Someone that was specifically targeting the peasants, burning them through the streets, it was only when a building was in the way that it got burnt. You are here saying it was the building she was targeting.

After she took out Eurons fleet she targeted the scorpions and then the peasants.

It was the citadel and the red keep she specifically targeted as structures after she had satisfied herself roasting the poor peasants.

You are the one that needs to rewatch that scene.

She won the war already. She could have gone to the Red Keep and burn it down, but she chose to destroy the whole city. If her intentions was to burn kings landing to the ground, doing it without innocent people in it was possible. Why not burn it after everyone move away?

She was betrayed, we know.
She lost loved ones, we know.

Other characters were betrayed and they lost loved ones, too. I didn't see any of them focusing their anger on destroying innocent lives when it wasn't neccesary. The writers made Cerci mad. They want us to believe she isn't fit to be a ruler. I guess are successful.
Leave them. They are coining everything and anything just to justify the madness of the mad queen. It was illogical, irrational and very out of character of Daenerys regardless of her betrayal and losses.

The writers made it so sha.

All of them are mad! I thought citizens usually run from cities when it's about to be sacked? and ceicei that pushed her to the edge by beheading missandei (on a second look I think Dany actually fulfilled missandei's last wish "dracarys" - which means dragon fire); and also tried to use his citizens as sheld - very mad, this cercei has a mischievous way of using his opponent's weakness against them; and Jon that would have offered some advice and consolation when it was needed the most - I don't know what to say to this one, this Stark children behave somehow but the maddest of them all is my Dany though I fear I might do the same if I were in her shoes - I mean the damned city has caused her so much pain. the masses just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The difference here is that we all know that Cersie has always been a Mad Woman and was capable of doing even worse so no one would have been surprised if she killed everyone just yo be on the throne.

I agree Dany's council had failed her numerously and the death of Missandei and Viserys must have made her distraught but going about massacring peasants even when the city had already fallen was out of characters.

The fact that she even now knew she was not the rightful heir and betrayal by john for telling Sansa about his true heritage was quite overwhelming. But to go about killing peasants the way she did was a out of characters for someone who had been supposedly liberating people and cities.

It was hard for Jon to reciprocate her feelings because he now knew she was his aunty. He grew up in the north and that Kain thing get as be for am.

All these culmulated to Dany becoming the MAD QUEEN as she displayed in KL.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by codedguy1(m):
melodyogonna:
Incase you didn't notice, she burned the whole kingslanding to the ground to show cercei her Mercy for the poor masses is not a weakness. she burned it right from the gate to the red keep and back again. ofcourse we wouldn't have been this sad if the city burning was from her point of view from the top of the dragon like most series and not from the common people's.
She burned the people and KL to show Cersie mercy for the poor masses was not a weakness?

My point exactly, she a Mad Queen.

ok lets say Danny's Valyrian ancestor's God's came to her with a revelation to burn kingslanding down, now since the divine angle of justification has been fulfilled, what next?
If she had some inspiration revelation to do what she did. Atleast, We would understand why she did it.

Your first paragraph is assuming she was given that instruction.

You now construct your second paragraph like she was actually given that instruction.

without people and/or followers there are no leaders, to kill the people is to crush the spirit of the leader, cersei never significantly confronted Danny's forces head on, instead she went around decimating all houses supporting her, do you understand why now?
This was like the last battle and Cersie prepared to face the Dany's soldiers headon.

No its the other way around, you crush the leaders direct and not go about killing innocent people claiming you want to crush the spirit of the leaders.

So killing the innocent peasant citizens was supposed to crush Cersie's spirit. Ha, i laff in Valarian grin Cersie that does not give a fvck and a damn about the citizens that spat and threw shyte on her during the walk of shame.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by codedguy1(m): 6:59am On May 19, 2019
BraniacX:
how was she to know that cersei was not escaping disguised as a peasant? undecided Afterall, it won't be the first time that has happened in westeros or even in kingslanding

In the dance of dragons, aegon escaped kingslanding with his master of whispers the clubfoot disguised as fishermen, and guess what? Though injured, he lived long enough to overthrow his sister's garrison and castle on dragonstone and lie in wait for her return and eventually kill her! History us there for the guidance of all and it will be farfetched to think Danny hasn't read of it
Had she taking out the expected placea that Cersie most likely would be before having a thought that Cersie might be escaping like one of the peasants on the street.

You want to kill somebody, after killing the security at the estate gate, instead of going straight to the persons house you start from the beginning of the street killing people and your justification is that the person might be in any of the houses when you have not even been to his house. grin
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by codedguy1(m):
BraniacX:
are you suggesting that Danny's sight us so acute that she can see cersei in the red keep from the wall?
She didnt need to see Cersie but she would pick some strategic building to strike expecting that Christie would definitely be in one of those buildings. Atleast we would know she was specifically trying to kill Cersie and not just turning on the citizens.

Imagine trying to take over the seat of power in naija starting with Abuja.after you take out the military, aso rock is next, then senators quarters or estate in maitama and the NASS complex and then some other symbolic places instead of going to nyanya and mararaba to kill people. Does that make sense.

After she took out Eurons fleet and the scorpions she decended on the citizens. It was later she went for the red keep and citadel. If Euron had not delayed Jamie she might really had escaped while madam mad queen was busy torching peasants who did nothing to her.

no we are

u said i shouldnt compare what dany did with what arya did

arya cooked a mans children and served him the children to eat

dany roasted people

dany can be interpreted as being angry and over using her power on the weak

arya, killed people, cut them like meat, cooked them and served their father

1 person is angry the other is a mad and sick, jeffrey dahmer wannabe
Na people have justified WHY Danny had to kill people in KL saying Cersie used them as human shield and Dany had no choice.

Others feel killing the people of KL who were on the streets far away from where Cersie was, meant that she had a choice. If those people were close to Cersie and Drogon burned all of them just to SPECIFICALLY kill Cersie we can call it collateral damage.
Thats where the comparison with what Arya did. She SPECIFICALLY TARGETED THE FREYS and if anyone who didnt partake in the killing of her family and bannermen was there na collateral damage be that. Why did Arya not go on a killing spree to kill anyone on Freys island.

Thats the comparison am talking about and not HOW they were killed.

I actually blame the writers, they just killed Dany's character by those killings. It was completely out of character.

We wait for the final episode yo make sense out of it if we can.

how did varys know that she was bad?

Because she was alone

Most rulers are like that, they are feared not loved

Varys is not a hero, all of a sudden he knew that Dany was bad

Dany listened to them and all she got was defeat upon defeat

The show just forced that scene down our throats, Dany did not plan B4 hand to burn Everything

If that was her plan, she would have done it since her dragons became big

See all she did with 1, imagine 3 dragons

Dany is hurt that city took so much away from her

Took her family, her dragons, her best friend and now even Jon is gone, she is pained

Arya killed an entire generation because they killed some members of her family and u cheered her

Where all the freys evil? Arya killed every last 1 over a few members, Dany lost everything and ure complaining about people that she killed

D D are working hard to force the Dany is the new villain thing, I don't care how they kill her and twist it

As far as I'm concerned, game of thrones ended in episode 5
It was when Varys found out Jon was the true heir that he wanted to alter the course of things by most likely poisoning her, but dany was too distraught to even eat because she now knew she was not the true heir and begged and hoped Jon would keep it a secret. So Varys poisoning plans failed.

He got killed because Tyron exposed him to Daenerys as not being loyal to her and even knowing the truth about Jon being the true heir.

Trying to justify what Daenerys did by comparing it with what Arya did just does not follow.

The Freys were all in on the plot to Massacre the starks and their bannermen at the red wedding. Arya witnessed some of it. So when she revenged she was targeting the Freys by poisoning the wine they drank and particularly baking Freys 2 sons for him to eat. In the poisoning scenario if there was anyone there that was not in on the plan but died after taking the wine, we can describe that as collateral damage. She targeted the main people who killed her family and it was unfortunate that some innocents were there.

But in the case of Dany she was not even after Cersie per se she was just torching people on the street that were a far distance away from the red keep where Cersie was. Was Cersie on the streets of KL?

now this is what I find strange. That Jon didn't even bother convincing Daenerys against burning Kings Landing, despite doing so before.
Was he sure she meant to burn KL when she said she would rule with fear?

It would be interesting to hear their conversation about the war in the last episode. We will probably hear why she did what she did and we know if Jon's expression after she started burning the city was one of surprise or realisation that he had bleeped up by allowing her to be THE QUEEN when he was the rightful heir.

If he still supports her with his YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY QUEEN nonsense then his own is finished. I wouldn't know if it love or pussy that has turned his head. Her actions in the war is enough for him to decide to mount that throne and possibly rule from the North. If he knows anything now.

Again if for any reason Jon decides to take the throne, I dont think Dany will let go easily. She has the Dothraki, unsullied and a drogon behind her and Jon will have to rely on the northern army grin

Lets see how it goes.

Brukx:
You have a strong point for using viserion and Jon's encounter as an example. The zombie dragon could not get to Jon because of a stone debris Jon hid behind.

Drogon brought down castles in a single breath. From the history of GOT, The mad King planted wildfire in all of Kingslanding. Some of that wildfire was used by Cercie in destroying the great Sept. Tyron also discovered a vault of wildfire which he used in winning the battle of Blackwater. From the books and from the movie only the Mad king was mad enough to do something like that. In no way did Cercie do such. Let's not just start assuming things

Drogon was always known to be the greatest of the 3 dragons. Their might can't be compared. Even that same viserion that couldn't get to Jon Snow was the same Dragon that burnt down the great Wall. If one can bring down such great mass of ice, why not some wildfire hidden under the city.

I'm not good at putting my points together smiley . But I hope you comprehend what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying cercie is not evil enough to plant wildfire. Im saying she isn't the one who did it.
Totally agree with you. The fire from Dragon was IMO full fury that he unleashed on the innocent people of KL.

It could have unearthed any wildfire buried anywhere.

Even Though I stopped seeing game of thrones since they diverted from GRRM storyline.anyone hating daenerys for torching KL,does not know the stark realities of warfare.when a leader uses her subjects as pawns, you don't expect the enemy to show "mercy".
what would have happened if cersei had negotiated with daenerys to let her subjects go by surrendering.
heck, half the people here did not bait an eyelid, when they read about how jehovah ordered the absolute massacre of the amalekites telling saul to leave nothing alive (both women, children, animals and the men who didn't partake in the battles),dropping the excuse that it was old times,as if GOT timeline is in the 21st century.
My own advice is to remove the log in your own eyes before you remove the speck in your brother's eyes.
Someone is praising you that oil dey your head and am sure your head is swelling. You better ask if it is used car engine oil.

Stop equating the decision of God with what a human being will do.

We all know this is fiction and fantasy but we are talking about the rationality of the actions of Daenerys to burn down innocent people who were miles away from Cersie, people that never did anything to her.
