ProgrammingRe: What PHP Cms/framework Do You Use And Why? by Codenister: 7:29am On Oct 17, 2016
For a CMS, it's WordPress all the way for me.
Ever since I started using codeigniter, I have never had any reason to regret or look back. Even though I get bashed for using an old school framework by some people, it doesn't look like I'll change it anytime soon. So far so good, codeigniter serves me well

ProgrammingRe: Do I Need To Install Node.js In Order To Code With It ? by Codenister: 10:48am On Oct 06, 2016
teampregar:
There is a project am working on nd i need to use node.js to complete it, i want to knw if i need to download a node.js software to code node.js(for example u need to download php to code with php, nd mysql server to use MYSQL queries), does node.js runs in the browser like javascript or do i need to download the software?
Note : this project will be used in a live production web server that i don't have full control of..
And if it needs a software to work, does an average shared webhosting server support node.js ??
Yes, you need to download and have nodejs installed - the same way you would with php.
When using nodejs, you are no longer writer client-side code (but server), just that you are still using the same normal JavaScript syntax

Backend - OOP languages - Python, Java, Go, PHP
Frontend - Javascript
Mobile - Cross platform, Javascript or C#.
Any other languages are possible if the developer can sell their knowledge and make a case for it.

It is all about striking and maintaining balance. Even if your mum will not get angry, you need to as well consider your own health.
I always have adequate sleep, and I still manage to stay productive, always, all the time.

For the records, I am still in school, and also work at the same time and I still maintain the balance

Nice one. Well detailed.

Have you delve into competitive programming before?
Not at all. There is hardly the time for it.
But I hope to try it one of these days
ProgrammingRe: How I Wished!!! by Codenister: 10:31pm On Sep 18, 2016
What exactly do you want to achieve with this?
ProgrammingRe: Developers, Come In Lets Be Truthful. by Codenister: 9:20pm On Sep 18, 2016
FrankLampard:
Are you a senior, intermediate or junior developer, if any? What makes you think so? How did you achieve it? How long did it take you?
I'm not exactly sure where to categorize myself, but I believe i lean more towards the intermediate level.

Looking back now, it's been 4 years since I started.
I started with the normal html CSS. Tried learning JavaScript but I didn't understand a thing.
Then picked up PHP and I found it easier. Added MySQL after a few months. I got so confused at a point because I wanted to learn almost all languages available (you can't blame me, I was juvenile). Tried Perl, lisp, Java, Python, but I "ran away" when I no get am.

I had almost a year break from active programming due to the fact that I had no PC anymore but my early 2015 I resumed again, now with a bang. Started learning Python and it just seemed to click. Wrote a couple of "cool apps", and I even taught Python to people.
By mid 2015, picked up Java as well, and it seemed so easy.

And then a number of web projects came in and I had to use php again, so i did some revision and boom, I am now more of a web guy.
Now I can comfortably say I can write Java, Python, php amd JavaScript, and maybe html and CSS .
In conclusion, it took me 4 years to get to this stage
ProgrammingRe: Developers, Come In Lets Be Truthful. by Codenister: 5:42am On Sep 18, 2016
In my earliest days of learning to program, I'd download PDFs and read and practiced.
Most of these days now, I majorly use documentation and online tutorials as I now have internet readily available (at least a 95% availability)

I like details, but I always feel videos are not usually well detailed so I hardly use videos (except in some rare instances)

ProgrammingRe: Best Data Type For Ip Address? by Codenister: 9:44am On Sep 06, 2016
I think your best option is still varchar.
And where do you want to sort the rows by IP? Is it I'm the dB or in your server side code?
If in the server code, you can retrieve the rows first and then order by IP in the code

Good day House. Can anyone help with SQL for all States and Local government areas in Nigeria. I've done some search online and came across this one: https://gist.github.com/segebee/5dec39398e719fdfd0ef
The problem now is, the one from the link above has 737 local government areas while there are actually 774 LGAs
Check out the dump in this link, it has 774 LGAs..

Ace1, if you can't find an up to date one database of LGAs, you can just do the findings yourself, then update the current project in the link you posted.

37 LGAs shouldn't be too much for you to find. This will as well help others who are in need of it

Guys, guys, guyyyys.... Keep your bragging rights of self made this and that.... Yea we know you earned it but the learning curve is a little steeper for a lot of guys. I'm well on my way to becoming topnotch but before this, I battled java for a year. I have a purely arts background so it was like Greek. The simplest actions required maximum effort because I couldn't just get the hang of it. Almost two years later, I absorb anything java and c# in a heartbeat.
My point here is if you can any newbie please do. Indulge or babysit sometimes... The guy might have put in hours
You've just in fact buttressed what has been said in previous posts.
No body is bragging here. The truth is - noone will spoon-feed or babysit anybody.
Why didnt you quit at the time you were battling Java for a yearhuh??

I can tell you categorically that your accusation is very wrong.
It's either you've been rolling with the wrong people or you've been doing the wrong thing yourself.
When I started programming, I didn't have anyone to guide me or mentor me, and this didn't stop me. All I would was go online and make a search on whatever was giving me problem, so you really have no excuse.
If you quit programming, then it is because you are too lazy to learn.

Before you can be helped by someone else, you yourself need to show a sign of seriousness. You don't expect someone who's very busy to do your homework for you.
As for the help you need, what effort have yourself made? (Maybe nothing, maybe a lot, I don't know).

And then, have you posted your problem here on Nairaland programming section or any other programming related forum and got no replies??

But at the end of the day, if no one is willing to help, alaye, you self gats double your Hussle ni
