African football get as e be; u will see a superior team on paper leading 1-0 in reality then when it gets to the final closing stage of game, minnow/underdog will start playing like Germany/Spain and so called powerhouse superior team will start defending....see the way Gabon dey defend their lives against comoros grin grin

Can't imagine England or Spain leading Andorra 1-0 and start defending in the closing stages

Gabon sef follow for powerhouse in Africa?

Seems Eguavoen and Siasia share the same ideas of the game. I am interested to see how our first game goes.

I don't think so. Our play was woeful in AFCON 2006 (when they were at the helm) except against Tunisia.

How did you know nobody can bench Dennis

You can’t be so certain as far as the eagles is concerned .

Actually, Not only in the eagles only, nothing is guaranteed in football generally but in the here and now, Dennis is better

Yeah sure.

On current form, I don't think he would have been benched though

It's Austin not Rohr

He is doing it week in, week out in England and not Belgium

Leave them there. How can you just assume that you will not play. Nobody, I repeat can bench Dennis presently. It's what everyone knows. But seeking assurances of game time? Chai!

Loyalty is crap. No matter how loyal you are to a team, if you are a crap player nobody rates you. Do you think companies hire people on how loyal they are? If you own a business will you employ the people that are most loyal to you (e.g your family members)? If you do that, the business crashes. That's one of the reasons Nigeria is a hot mess today. Nigeria is a clear example of the consequences of people choosing loyalty over performance.

And if the person who can perform does not share your vision and doesn't want to work for you? Do you fold your arms and watch your business crashes because someone is too big to help?

Watch eguavoen short interview abt Dennis not coming to afcon...ire o cool
I have watched the interview but I have some questions

1. Why was his name not on the original list? Who drew that list
2. How was Watford able to have so much power to stop Dennis alone
3. What did Eguavoen mean by "what do we do if a player doesn't want to come"?
4. Why was he mentioning the enthusiasm and happiness of Onyekuru and Tyrone immediately they got the call up

These are questions begging for answers. Let me just keep quiet.

If he keeps his premier league form, no one, and I repeat, no one will be able to displace him from the super eagles squad. This is someone that is second only to Salah as the best player in the EPL.

Lol. Of course since other players will stop scoring and fail to secure EPL move. Well that's even if his rich vein of form continues. I wish him well.

You are too sentimental.

Loyalty does not win you a world cup or a champions league. Newcastle have the most loyal fanbase in EPL, where are they on the table?

Going with the best players is what wins you anything, not loyalty.

Is it fanbase that plays football? And who told you Dennis is the best? If Mikel can be made to write a letter of apology to the NFF for a seeming disloyalty to the NT (at a time when our midfield was so thin), who is Dennis?. Nigeria has never lacked strikers you know. I think his swift replacement goes to show that others will always do the job.
And to correct you, best players don't always win but a good team does. Who are the best players in Egypt when they held the AFCON trophy in captivity for 6 years?. Who are the best players in the Algerian team?

I'm surprised at the way a lot of people are reacting to this Dennis issue. If you think about it logically, Ranieri may be right actually. Watford and the NFF (or at least Pinnick) have a good relationship. They have at least 5 Nigerian players in their squad. They even signed Okoye out of nowhere, before the transfer window when no one even thought of or expected it. We don't really know the details of their discussion. Perhaps NFF let it go in good faith.

Besides, Watford are desperate. They're battling relegation and they need their talisman. They don't have players that can step up and they need Dennis more than we do anyway. Let's cut him some slack. He was clearly excited to be part of the Afcon team. The whole thing might just be out of his hands.

If it was a gentleman agreement between the two, why did the NFF say the club was "baring fangs". Abi na me no understand English ni?

There's nothing wrong about Dennis opting to play every game at his club where he is the top man than on the Nigerian bench.

We have seen how Rohr wasted lots of invited players on the bench after long distance travels.

And he demanded guaranteed gametime, not guaranteed starting place. Those are very different terms.

Nothing is guaranteed in football. You should have known that by now.

Emmanuel Dennis opt to play for Watford ahead of afcon tournament when he was not assured a starting shirt for the super eagles . He 0decided to choose is club ahead of his country

It's his career. He can't serve two masters at a time. Watford has shown so much faith in him than all the other African players (who opt to go to AFCON), so it's logical that he is the only one to stay behind and save his club

Did NFF say he rejects the Invitation? Stop assuming bro.

The NFF replaced him and the reason was club issues. Now his coach and club has extricated themselves saying

"Now I spoke with him, of course he wanted to go to play, but also he wanted to help Watford."
......We respect everybody (The AFCON and other tournaments),"

Base on stats this season Cyril Desser deserve a call up to the national team ahead of Henry Onyekuru and Peter Olayinka . He has scared 9 goals this season while Henry Onyekuru and Peter Olayinka have just scored 1 and 6 goals respectively for there club side this season

Na Rohr cause am. His name is not in the 40 he submitted.

You don't have to announce via a press conference before rejecting the call up. Go and read what you understand by Ranieri's comment. Try and understand it.

Dennis is absolutely right to seek Clarification for his imminent Role at AFCON. He's in top Form and likely to get a Deal from any of top 6 Clubs in EPL if he maintains his form till end of Season.

Are you Guys kidding? He should leave Watford simply to be munching cooked Corns on the Bench? Let's set aside Emotions, check the Number of Attackers on the List and tell me we gonna miss Dennis' absence?!

Dennis makes a good call. I believe NFF clearly understands him and actually supports his Decision.

The question is if all the Number of Attackers on the List have thought that way, who will do the job?

you guys are funny Watford is relegation threatened,is Nigeria relegation threatened? Do Watford have Somebody like Iheanacho,Ighalo, Awoniyi etc to replace Dennis? The truth remains that Watford needs him more than we do,it doesn't mean we don't need him

Is he the founder of Watford? Where was he when Deeney and Ighalo became legends there? Didn't they still leave?

There is actually
Musa has been here for over 10 years if I'm not mistaken
Dennis will be back.

Of course there is.
Other strikers (who value international football )will stop scoring so as to brighten Lord Dennis chances of being selected.
